Clicking "Open a New Tab" button or "Ctrl+T" doesn't open a new tab any more. How do I get that functionality back?
When I click, type or use the File menu or try right-clicking mouse to open a new tab, nothing happens. However I am able to open links in a new tab.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Evidently something in that extension isn't compatible with a Firefox security fix. Disable that extension or un-install it.
How do I "disable" or "un-install it"?

I'm unable to download iMovie/iphoto, as i didn't buy the mac brand new, it only gives me the 'accept' button when i try to download, i don't mind purchasing, it just doesn't give me the option. any ideas how i can get around this?

I recently purchased a second hand new macbook air, although it was second hand to me the previous owner had never actually turned it on. So i went through all the set up steps when switching it on for the first time.
My problem is that iPhoto and iMovie are not installed, and when i go to the app store the icons have an accept button, it then prompts me for my apple ID, obviously these a registered to the original owner, and says i need that ID in order to download them, or i'll have to purchase them.
I'm happy to purchase them, but it doesn't give me that option, every time i search for them in the app store they always come up with the accept option and no purchase option.
Any idea how i can get round this would be great fully appreciated.

Often when people think they've deleted an application, what's really happened is that they deleted its icon from the Dock. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. If the application is in that folder, drag it to the Dock (not to the Desktop or anywhere else.) The other Dock icons will move out of the way to make a place for it.

Windows XP crashed and Firefox 5.0 closed improperly. When I relaunched it, I mistakenly clicked New Session button instead of Restore previous session. How can I get that session back now? Thanks

I am on Windows XP/Firefox 5.0 Computer crashed overnight closing Firefox improperly. When I relaunched I got choice to restore previous session. By mistake I clicked on Start New Session. Now I cant restore that session through Menu, relevant buttons are greyed out. I cant see any pertinent information online either. I appreciate any help. Currently I am digging through the history but for some of these tabs I dont know when I opened them (may be a while ago).

I don't have a good sense of what is going wrong.

I found a script on mozillaZine that will extract URLs from the sessionstore.js file; I just changed the formatting of the output. To run the script:
(1) Return to your profile folder and rename sessionstore.js to sessionstore.old again, then copy it to a convenient location
(2) Start Firefox (it should be in a new session)
(3) Open the following link, select all (Ctrl+a), copy (Ctrl+c) to copy the script to the clipboard: http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/sessionstore_reader.txt
(4) Open the <s>Error Console</s> Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+j), click next to <s>Code</s> the caret (>>) and paste, then press Enter <s>or click Evaluate</s>

(6) As long as the file is not corrupted, a new tab should open with a list of all the URLs the script found in the file. You can save this page for future reference if desired. Also, you can close the <s>Error</s> Browser Console now.

With multiple tabs open, I use to click File, close tab---now close tab is missing and I exit out of Firefox completely. How do I get that choice back "close tab" in the "File" drop down? Thanks. George C.

The drop down "FILE" in the tool bar use to have a choice to "CLOSE TAB". This is now missing so when I have multiple tabs open and I want to close the most recent, I cannot. I then get warned that I will be closing multiple numbers of tabs, but there is no other choice.

After re-installing my MacBook Pro hard drive, I lost my Firefox/Mozilla 'top banner' (red ,yellow and orange in color) and with it my ability to down load via a small tab located top right on it's bar. How do I get this function back??

Recently I found it necessary to re-install my entire operating system, and I lost my ability to down load streaming videos. I am an artist almost 70 yrs. old, and am not very computer proficient which is why I purchased a MacBook Pro. I used Firefox/Mozilla to do downloading because it was easy. When I brought my system back up I found that the top 'Firefox banner' had changed from red, orange and yellow in color to shades of gray. With this change found that I no longer had the download 'tab' to click on to initiate downloads (located top right on the Firefox top section).
I've tried re-installing Firefox and Antbar download helper but am still not able to download. How do I get the download capability back again???? ......roxor999

I recently updated my new iPhone by plugging it in to my laptop. However, it erased all of the texts, contacts and pictures associated with my phone prior to the update. How do I get that information back?

I owned an iPhone 4s a year ago before I unfortunately lost it. I have since then bought the iPhone 5 but had not plugged it in to my computer yet to download any music. I plugged in my iPhone today to my laptop and my iTunes store stated that it registered that it was a new iPhone and asked if I wanted to restore or update my new iPhone with the information that was backed up on my old one. I chose yes, that I did want to restore the old information in to my new iPhone. However, now that I did that, my new iPhone does not have any of the contacts, texts or pictures that I had already on my new iPhone.
I desperately want my information back that was lost on my new iPhone when I updated the phone. Is there any way to get those pictures and information back? I logged in to my iCloud account and it still did not help get my pictures, contacts or texts back.

No such thing has occurred. iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

Since I signed up with I-cloud, it backed up my Ipad and converted my original version of Safari browser.... I do not get the seprate window tabs anymore, how can I get that version back?

My new version of Firefox crashes as soon as it opens, even in safe mode, at the 'restore session' page. How can I get that session back?

I updated to the newest version of Firefox and restarted the internet. When it reopened the browser, it had the 'about session restore' tab open, but when I clicked on it, it crashed. I've restarted the computer three times to no avail.
The browser opens, then says 'Not Responding' before you can click on anything, then crashes.
The Mozilla Crash Reporter appears, and I click to restart (or quit - same results) then it suggests to open in safe mode, which I do, but the same thing happens repeatedly and I get nowhere.
It wasn't even generating a crash report but finally one went through to my email: bp-0a80049a-6643-452d-b3b2-d8c622130823.
I want to restore my previous version, as I had tabs open that I need to go back to.
Could you please advise me how to proceed?

I recently upgraded to Firefox 4. I cannot find the trick to make Firefox 4 remember my tabs when I shut down my computer. How do I get that feature back?

In the prior version, on exit, Firefox asked me if I wanted to save my tabs for the next session. Firefox 4 does not do that. It loses my tabs so when I open up a new session I am starting from scratch rather than where I left off at.

There are the two entirely separate methods of resuming with the previous tabs. As mentioned in the first part of my message, the method you have chosen is to specifically start with the last set of tabs instead of starting with a home page.
The other method is to (maybe more as a one off) select to open with previous tabs from either the button in the default page, or from the history menu. It is this method that previously had the question as you closed down, there is no longer the question asking if you want to save the open tabs, although you do still get the option to use them on startup. It is a more sensible method, but it does cause concern for those of us used to being asked on closedown.

I pressed RESUME instead of NEW SESSION how do I get that option back to stop what seems to be my Firefox on a continuous loop and then slowing everything down. I have Mac OS X with Windows?

Firefox keeps opening a forum tab and lots of other tabs show up at the top of the screen and little curly things going round and round (sorry to sound so technical !)

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
