Clicking "open image in new window" on a jpeg downloads the image

If I click on "open image in new window" or paste an image address directly in as the url, Safari sometimes downloads that image and sometimes displays the image directly in the browser.
Why? I'd like to always have it display directly in the browser.

1) this image is displayed in the browser

Hi,
At a total guess, the webserver at image.wink.com is incorrectly identifying the images as something other than an image file. If they claim it's a binary file for example, then Safari will treat it like any other file you would normally wish to download.

If you upload the pdf file to the server manually and then link to it via the Inspector/Hyperlink pane with the Link to option An External Page (with the checkbox to open in a new window selected) you can have the pdf file open in a new window where it can be viewed or downloaded.

I can only open up one window with multiple tabs; right click "open in a new window" does not work. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled Firefox with same results.

Just bought a new i5 laptop and am transferring files, etc onto new box. Last night I had two separate Firefox windows up. I downloaded Nexus Ultimate late and rebooted this morning. I had to restart Firefox then, and it did not save my settings/tabs as I prompted it to do when it shut down to reboot.
I uninstalled Nexus and wasted many hours trying to resolve this, including two failed system restores (looks like Nexus is a dirty little bugger) Windows Explorer will open up multiple windows. Firefox will not. Help.

Once open, Firefox locks the Profile that is in use and you can not open another window with that Firefox version and Profile combination using the Windows Desktop icon or the Windows Programs list.

Firefox won't left-click open links in new window

Since I've had Firefox, it's by default opened external links (i.e. something sent in an e-mail, etc.) in a new window by left-clicking. Two days ago it stopped doing that and I can't figure out how to make it work again. I can right click, then scroll down to open in new window or open in new tab, so it's not completely debilitating, but it's the way my kids and I have gotten used to working it, and we'd prefer to keep it that way.
I've already tried disabling add-ons and uninstalling/reinstalling, with no success.

How do I stop finder from opening a new window every time I download an image (drag and drop)?

Before I updated my computer I could drag and drop a new image from the internet to wherever I wanted on the desktop. Now when I download a new image from the internet it opens the "Desktop" finder windo. Also it systematically downloads the new image to be placed underneath the last downloaded/organized file. How do I stop it from doing both of these things?

Open swf in new windows at specific points on the timeline

Let me start by saying that I am a newbie to Flash. I have created a Flash site and I want to create links that would open a SWF in a new window at specific points on its' the timeline. How can I do this?

It depends what version of actionscript you're using, but if you are familiar with linking to other pages using buttons, you use the same linking code, getURL (AS2) or navigateToURL (AS3), and specify "_blank" as the window parameter in the arguments for whichever you use. So if you are using AS2, then in your timeline where you want a new window to open you would have....
getURL("yourfile.html", "_blank");

I keep getting this message, what do I do? "Firefox is already running. To open to a new window, you must first close the Firefox process or restart your system. I have done this at least 10x times.plus reinstall and reboot the system.

Tabs opening as new windows even when I click open in a new tab

All of a sudden links that normally opened as new tabs are now opening as new windows. Even when I specifically say open as a new tab it still opens as a new window. I have checked the settings in the tab option so it should be opening them as new tabs. it is highly frustrating!

Open Link in New Window fails

It seems after a while, now Firefox 4.0.1 has a issue with the "Open Link In New Window" option fails to load the web page. It opens the new window, but does not load the web page that you click on. Instead it opens a new window with a blank tab.

Open link in new window inSafari 5.0.1

Without doing anything I know of I no longer have "OPEN LINK IN NEW TAB" when I right click over a link. Also when I right click "OPEN LINK IN NEW WINDOW" I get a blank TAB that says "UNTITLED".

From your Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Empty Cache.
Relaunch Safari.
If that didn't make a difference, troubleshoot the Safari .plist file.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Tabs work as they should, them move the .plist file to the Trash.

Opening PDF in new window

We want to generate a pdf at runtime in new window on click of a button suppose 'Show PDF'. We have written following code using MVC module.
In HANDLE_EVENT for the button we are calling a controller method say 'Preview_PDF' which is generating a pdf and it opens in a new window too.
But at the same time we are getting blank screen or view from where the event is triggered. I want the parent view should remain undisturbed and pdf should open in new window. Please advice where am I going wrong.

Capture the generated url for the PDF document into a variable w_url and then use the client click event of the button SHOW PDF to open it in a separate window.
something like this

this should open your pdf in a new window.

Unable to upload files using firefox, be it dropbox, gmail or any other websites where we need to attach files. It does not open up a new window to choose file.

all of a sudden im unable to attach files in any of the websites. Im using firefox version 30 and when I click to attach file it does not open up a new window where we can choose the file from my computer. It happens almost in all websites that I use (gmail, dropbox, other websites).
This was not the case before, seem some problem with firefox.. can somebody fix this at the earliest. thanks

please check if this problem appears as well when you try to download a file, does this happen again when you try to download a file?
if so there must be a problem with your HDD controler, to solve this issue follow th steps:
1.Right Click on My Computer, Select Properties
2.Click on Device Manager in Top Left corner
3.expand the IDA/ATI/ATAPI controllers
4.right click on the one which is related to your HDD
5.click on Uninstall
6.Restart
when you restart your windows the OS will try to install the drivers again, if this happens then restart again and check if the problem is solved, if no try to install the HDD drivers and related drivers manually and then restart your machine
