Clicking/popping sound at the beginning of tracks when going to next track

some of my songs have clicking/popping sound at the beginning of the track only when I hit the next track button
if I let the track end the pop/click won't happen
any idea what this is?

Re-import one of the of the problem CDs in a lossless format, such as AIFF or Apple Lossless. Play a little to verify that the tracks are good. Then use iTunes to convert them to AAC.
Verify that those new tracks are good, and if so, you can then discard the lossless versions and keep the AACs.

  • 'pop' sound introduced in beginning of large encodes

On large encodes, AME adds a 'pop' sound to the very beginning of the video.  It is not in the source material.  It does not occur when I use a few minutes of the source material using the same workflow, and usually only occurs with encodes longer than 1 hour.  I am transcoding from h.264 to h.264 at a smaller size.  I think it is a glitch when AME muxes the audio and video files together, but just a theory.  Any thoughts?  I am going from 48 to 41khz.  But again, this error does not occur with shorter videos.  Glitch?  All files are self contained.  Mac systems.

you have to make the cut the region at a "zero-cross" point; when the amplitude of the waveform is at zero.
this can be a little tricky with GB since you can't zoom in as far as you can with an audio editor, but it can be done

  • Missing sound at the begining of chapter

I built a blu-ray disk with the following flowsheet (this flowsheet is OK according the "check project" feature) :
After the disk burning (with Nero 12 Burning Rom, not with Encore CS 6 which generates a well known error not fixed by Adobe), the "read first" before main menu is an AME transcoded sequence from PP CC. This sequence has an audio track, but only with the final burned blu-ray disk, the sound begins after about four or five seconds, not at the begining.
I checked the "montage" in Encore and the related .m2ts file in the BDMV directory : both are OK.
Is this a bug or if not where is the mistake ?

    Hi,
Many thanks, I shall try and inform you.
I hace noticed that the sound start suddendly like it was blocked then
    suddenly released.

  • Popping sounds in the multitrack in Adobe Audition CC

I've been using Adobe Audition CC for a week now and have been having some problems with it.  Sometimes there would be random pop sounds during the multi-track.  The random pop sounds would sometimes come at certain sections of the multitrack, but I wouldn't hear them later.  I would play the individual audio files and sometimes they weren't there.  Does anyone know what could be wrong?  Do I have to change some settings?  I ran Adobe Audition 3 a few weeks ago on my Windows 8.1 system and never had any problems with popping sounds .  With CC I get pops for some reason.  I have a custom made computer that is supposed to have high performance.  Is there anything I should change in bios mode?  The multitrack that I'm using is around 40 minutes, and is on 11 tracks.  I don't know if that has anything to do with that.
The computer I have is a custom made computer desktop that I custom made for working with music.  It's an i7 and the most powerful computer I have ever owned.  I have serious doubt that it's my computer.  My computer is new and runs fast.  As I said before, I'm running Windows 8.1 and it didn't have any problems with popping sounds when running on Adobe Audition 3 previously.  I think it probably has something to do with bugs in the program itself.  Has anyone experienced these problems?  If so, did you fix them?  Or does Adobe plan to fix them?  I have contacted Adobe once through email and sent a complaint through Adobe Audition's support system and heard from nobody.  So far, Adobe Audition has not sent me any patches or anything.  Adobe Audition CC is insanely expensive. I'm paying around $220 or $240 a year for a program that already has serious flaws.

    Hi there,
(My first post! I signed up/logged in specifically to ask about this problem, which I am also having.)
I am using an old Mackie mixer -> MBox 2 -> iMac. I have used this same basic setup for last few years, and this problem is sudden and new.
It sound like digital clipping/distortion, but is clearly not happening during the peaks of waveform. The input to Mbox is clear thru headphone monitor, I can't hear anything - but when played back, intermittent and audible pops/hits are happening.
My suspicion is that it is from the USB to the Mac; there are three USB inputs on the iMac and since the Mbox is powered via USB, I think the noise is being introduced there. I tried two outta the three ports (guess I should try the third - why did I stop there? Oh right - coffee!) So far I seem to have best luck when no other programs are running, restart the computer before every session, but otherwise I am just crossing my fingers!
I'll check back on this thread, as I need this ghost OUT of my machine! ~ Jim

It did. And I moved it to another PCI slot and now is usins its own IRQ *6*.. but I still gettint the same CLICK POPS sounds on my "RIGHT" speaker.. same thing.. Why? please I need help! Can you test the card in another system? If there is the same issue --> faulty card.
IRQ 6 is a virtual IRQ so it can be shared even now. Try another slot.
Before doing this, you can also disable (temporary) all unused/unneeded controllers/devices showing on Device Manager. Just _right_mouse_klick_ the item and select disable (nothing else need to do). Later enabling is done by the same way (just select and enable).
Normally you can disable: onboard stuff like sound/serial com(s)/parallel (printer)/modem/midi/firewire (all)/etc. All USB controllers you do not need and Audigy firewire (if there is one). Also you can disable your NIC (onboard or PCI)temporarily.
By doing this all, you get more IRQs freed, and then maybe find the culprit (sharing IRQ with sound card).
    this so far ...

  • I have a imac g3 dv se, snow and after about 10minutes of it booting it makes a popping sound and the turns off, then it wont turn back on for another 5-10 minutes

i have a imac g3 dv se,500mhz, snow and after about 10minutes of it booting it makes a popping sound and the turns off, then it wont turn back on for another 5-10 minutes any suggestions?

Actually sounds like classic symptoms of a failing PAV (power-analog-video) on that model. Historically that's the weak spot in the G3 iMacs.
The lack of active cooling in the G3 iMac puts a lot of heat stress on this board and they eventually fail from overheating. Right now the board is still working as long as it's cool--it only fails when temps inside the computer rise.
About the only way to preserve the computer's life is to mount a 120mm fan directly on the case where the handle is--that's the exhaust port. The fan has to be positioned to PULL air out through that vent. It's an ugly solution to the eye but it has been done around here more than you would think.
Also make certain the bottom of the computer is not blocked. It the computer is sitting on a tablecloth or placemat, or there are loose papers on the desk under the case, it cannot get enough air into the bottom-mounted air intakes. Make/find some blocks to set the iMac a minimum of one inch (2.5CM) from the desk and move anything that can be "inhaled" from under the computer.
Even with such measures, the PAV board will eventually fail and be unrecoverable. It's a good time to start saving for a newer computer.

I have a 30 Gig 5th Gen IPOD It plays but there is no sound from the head phones and when its docks can anyone help

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Stuttering Sound at the Beginning of Each Imported Track

I'm using the internal DVD drive on my PowerBook G4 to import songs from CD to my iTunes library (located on my internal hard disk). Often times, the tracks I import will have a half-second stutter at the beginning when I play them back. I'm importing in AAC format at a high bit rate (320 kbps). I've tried this at lower bit rates with no luck. I've also tried using error correction, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
What's interesting is that this doesn't happen *every time* I import a CD. For example, I recently bought the Beatles stereo remasters and imported four of the disks the other day. No skips, no problems. The next day, I imported four more disks, and *all four* disks had skips on just about every track (except the first track—the first track is always OK).
I thought it might be that I was running too many applications at once, and maybe that's what was interfering with the import process. Restarted the machine and opened up iTunes only—nothing else—but the stuttering problem persisted.
(For the record, I don't think it's a problem with the disks either. I have no problem importing tracks using my iMac.)
Any idea what's causing this or, more importantly, how to stop it from happening?
    - Keith

Re-import one of the of the problem CDs in a lossless format, such as AIFF or Apple Lossless. Play a little to verify that the tracks are good. Then use iTunes to convert them to AAC.
Verify that those new tracks are good, and if so, you can then discard the lossless versions and keep the AACs.

  • Bad clicking popping sound when macbook plugged into external speakers

I have a black MacBook Core Duo, a white Macbook Core 2 Duo, and a Macbook Pro Core Duo that are suddenly ALL exhibiting horrible behavior when plugged into external speakers using the 1/8th inch headphone output converted to RCA to connect to the speakers.
I have always known that sometime in the last year or 2, one of the OS updates introduced a popping noise when the audio system has been idle and then suddenly fires a sound again after being quiet for a while.
But now all 3 of these machines, all running 10.6.7 with all current available software updates are exhibiting a clicking / popping /crackling sound almost CONSTANTLY when hooked up to the same set of speakers I've had for years. I tested with other speakers just to make sure the noise is still there.
Every time someone goes on or offline in my ichat buddy list, the crackling noise that accompanies the typical buddy available/unavailable sound is extremely irritating.
Every time I hit the volume up or down button I hear the awful noise alone with the volume feedback sound. If I keep hitting volume up or down FAST repeatedly, the sound goes away. But the moment I stop doing anything for even 1-2 seconds, and then touch the volume up/down buttons again, the cracking sound returns.
I have no idea what software update introduced this problem or what the heck is going on. I have booted these machines from external drives with a fresh install of 10.6.7. I've tried 10.5.8. Nothing works.
It's like some kind of firmware has permanently screwed up the 1/8th inch output on all of these machines when hooked up to external speakers. And these are all completely different model laptops
I do not hear the noise through these laptops' internal speakers, or if I plug headphones directly into their headphone jacks.
I have had to install an M-Audio USB Micro onto my main laptop to use it's 1/8th inch stereo out to connect to my speakers in order to eliminate this horrible noise. But this should NOT be necessary and I am not satisfied with this fix as a permanent solution.
I'm astonished to find this problem on ALL THREE of these different laptops suddenly.
The Anti Pop program did not alleviate the problem. Please help. Apple please issue software fixes to get rid of these problems once and for all.

  • Why's this sound at the beginning of my recording?

After I send a song to iTunes, there's always a faint drum/synth sound heard later in the song that shows up at the very beginning of the track when it's not supposed to be there. Why is this? Is it because I haven't selected the loop and set the duration?

This may be a manifestation of a lingering bug in the audio engine that caches a reverb tail from the last play. If it's what I'm thinking of, a workaround would be to select all the tracks of your song, and move them all forward, in sync, about a measure or two. Looking at your tracks, it will appear as if the beginning of the song is now at measure 2 or 3 instead of 1. That way, there will be a moment of silence at the very beginning of the song (that clears out the cache), but then everything will start normally and play to the end, and it will get rid of the ghost echo at the beginning.

  • DV5-1110ax Clicking / Popping sound.

    Hi,
I recently purchased this lappy & love it BUT it has this clicking or popping sound from what sounds like under the keyboard. (it could be the speakers, as it so hard to pin point)
Its doing my heading in, as it is random & I can not replicate it
    I have;
    BIOS has been UPD twice
    Audio drivers UPD
    WLAN has been UPD
Muted speakers / PC & microphone
Suggestions please, as i really don't want to have to go through the pain of returning & re-personalising it.
    THX

Thank you for replying, BTW Happy New Year.
I took your advice & ran the diagnostics on the HD & memory, both PASSED. (I did see a spelling mistake in the BIOS it says 'unknowninutes' missing the M- instils confidence- NOT)
I did not make any of the sounds while doing this. But; I heard similar noises as it rebooted as the WLAN then MUTE buttons became lit up! -since, it has been running ok.
To wind the clock back, after I posted the ORG question, I stumble on an article about calibrating the battery & OS for reporting reasons on HP's site, so I followed the steps and started to run it on BATT only, as to this point I had not. WELL these sounds stopped right about then, & after full recharge & powering on mains it has only made similar noise's SO FAR on start up.
If you feel confused, rest assured I am too....
It left me thinking it was some sort of discharge unit trying to protect the system from over charge... I could be wrong as it's a wild guess
I'll keep you posted if reoccurs
    Regard
    J

  • My 24" IMac freezes and makes a popping sound in the speakers. What could be wrong?

    Good afternoon
I have an early 2008 24" imac, 2.8GHz Intel cor 2 duo, mountnain lion 10.8.2. From time to time it suddenly stops, and makes a popping noise from the speakers and then the computer is frozen, i have to press the power button. This is now happening more often, at first i thought it might be flash as it use to happen on youtube videos, but today it froze whilst usling skype.
I read on the forms, but my problem is not exactly as the ones on forums.
Does anyone have this problem? Could it be the harddrive failing. I did a clean install of mountain lion last night and it happened still, the hard drive is a 320gb Hitatchi
    Thanks
I have included a youtube link of what it looks and sounds like.
    http://youtu.be/jBo9g2Z8U0E

You should try whats called a smc reset, look up HT3964 it should help, what you do is turn the imac off unplug the power cord from the back and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds then release and plug it back in.
If that doesnt work try a pram reset, HT1379, just google the number and it will pull up.

  • Strange clicking/tapping sound in the background of my music in my iTunes player.  Any idea how to make it stop?

There is a strange clicking sound in the background of my music in my iTunes player.  It sounds a bit like a horse galloping faintly in the background trying to keep up with the music!  Any idea of how to make it stop?  It doesn't matter what I'm listening to, doesn't happen in between songs, and has never happened in the 4 years I've owned this iMac.

  • That "popping" sound at the top of the left speaker...

Has anyone found out what this is? I've read some posts on this with no real answers. The theory of the case expanding under heat sounds good, but I was just wondering if anyone got a definite answer. Thanks

I just started getting the same popping sound and I dont think its the HD. it sounds like the speaker itself is popping like they do when you plug in a mic or external speakers.
it may be the case warming up or something because after a while it does go away. and I just notice it when I start playing Wow with the heavy use of the video card.
But I gotta send my MBP in anyway the screen buzz has progressed to unacceptable, along with the intermittant airport dropping. hopefully a new machine wont have these probs.
