Clicking/ Rattling noise in bottom right side of comp

So i've had my mac for a few weeks now and I've noticed that theres a clicking/ rattling noise when i move my computer sometimes (pretty loud). Is this normal?

Me too. But it only does it if I move it while it is on. Back in the olden olden days we had to lock down our HD when we shut down. I wondered if this clunk is a motion detector which protects the HD while we move the computer around. Just a guess. I wonder where we can find out.

  • Clicking noise on bottom right of MacBook

    Hello,
My MacBook has been making a clicking noise about every 20 seconds. The noise sounds like it is coming from the bottom-right of the computer. I am also hearing a very soft beeping noise. I just bought this computer 1 week ago. Should I take it to the Genius Bar?

Well the bottom right hand side is where the hard drive is. Backup your data now!!! Then check Smart status of the hard drive. I would definitely make an appointment with a Genius as its still under warranty.

  • Loud clicking/rattling noise every 5 seconds

My MacBook Air makes a loud clicking or rattling noise exactly every 5 seconds. It originates from the bottom of the MacBook, approximately somewhere behind the "P" key. The noise sounds just like a broken clicking hard drive except that I have the SOLID STATE DRIVE MacBook! I'm thinking it might be a fan issue. What is causing this noise and how do I fix it?
The noise is very loud, in the video below you can listen to it if you turn up your volume.

Can I bring the MacBook Air to an Apple store, and can they fix it on the spot by swapping out the broken fan or whatever it is?

I had the exact same problem; my new MBA made the noise right out of the box. Sounded like it was snoring. Rather discouraging, this being my very first mac. BUT, I think I fixed it.
I downloaded istat, and noticed that the exhaust fan RPM was 0. So, the problem seemed to be that the fan was "stuck." And, I know this sounds awful and wrong, but I gave my machine a sharp little rap just under the power key, to the right of the delete/slash/return keys. Just a soft knock, using the section of my index finger I'd use to show a child how long an inch is. The snoring went away immediately, and the fan speed went up to roughly 2490rpm.
Seems like a stupid manufacturing glitch, which I REALLY don't feel like dealing with after dropping a few thousand on this machine. But the fix was easy enough.

  • Macbookpro noise issue on right side with heat

Hi, my 2014 macbook pro ratina display,13 inch, just finished a years warranty period, and suddenly from right side of the laptop, a noise starts (like a modem connecting or something burning kind a noise) with upper right corner more heated then the rest of the laptop, Can someone help out with the issue ?

Aha. I think I was thinking of the 15 inch. Thanks for the heads up.
It is not that simple.  The late 2012 13" retina MBPs and the early 2013 13" retina MBPs have two fans installed. Starting with the late 2013 13" MBPs, only one fan was installed.
    Ciao.

  • T410s - screen makes clunk noise at bottom right support

    Hi
When I close the screen of my T410s there is a loud audible clunk sound from the bottom right support bracket.
It seems like the screen is a little loose at the bottom right support as there is "give" or movement at that joint.
Has anyone come across this before and can they advise how to get this fixed?
    Thanks

more likely it is a hinge issue. Do you have warranty still?

  • My new MacBook pro 15'' is making a noise from the right side. What could the problem be?

    Hi
My New MacBook pro 15'' 2011 is making a sound from the right side of it. It sounds like it is the HDD that is making the sound. How can i fix it?

Return it or take it in for service.    It may be you got a drive that was a lemon.

  • IMac rattling noise?

I've had a rattling noise coming from the bottom right side (if you're looking at the screen) ever since I got my iMac. I brought it to the apple store when it first started and they replaced the optical fan. This helped the problem for about a day and then it started again. I went back to the apple store and they couldn't hear the noise so nothing was done. I have been having this problem ever since.
I really don't know what to do anymore. The closest apple store is 2 hours away so I hate to make another trip there only for them to tell me they can't hear the noise. Sometimes it is louder than others. It doesn't sound like a normal fan noise like if the machine was heating up. It almost sounds like something is loose and is rattling or a cord is being hit by the fan.
    Any suggestions?
(I have a 20" aluminum iMac... got it last September so I think it's the 2009 model?)

You have a bad optical drive fan motor. Replace that and it should be fine.

  • Bottom Right of Touch Screen is Dead

Hi. The bottom right side of my touch screen just suddenly stopped working. So, I cannot click OK to ackniwledge that a new printer cartridge is in and a hard reset doesn't clear the screen. So, it has lost functionality. My printer is out of warranty, but I see identical problems posted throughout this forum. Clearly, there is a manufacturing defect with the touch screen, so I am wondering if HP has recalled it. If not, can I replace the touch screen myself?

I suggest you follow the instruction in one of the other threads where you posted this.  In the thread here Nick1906 suggests this is a hardware issue and you will need to contact HP support.  If you are outside the US you can find contact information here.

  • Why does the mouse 'run' to the lower right side of desktop and freeze when a SmartBoard is plugged into the USB port.  Running 10.8.5.   Sometimes the pointer has a cloud under it but it always freezes.

I run SmartBoards connected to iMacs running 10.7 and 10.8 throughout my school.  On one of these computers the mouse has recently started freezing the minute a SmartBoard is plugged in to the USB port.  The mouse 'runs' to the bottom right side of the screen, a cloud often is under the pointer, and it is not longer interactive.  You can move the mouse upward a bit with the cloud following some of the time but it does not work.  Once the SmartBoard is unplugged the mouse works normally.  This particular computer worked fine with the SmartBoard until recenlty.  Any solutions or ideas?

  • The right side of my iPhone 5S screen isn't sensitive to touch?

It was in the rain for a bit and I am assuming that is why however I tried drying my phone out and it still isn't working. I am wondering what I should do and whether or not resetting the factory settings is worth it or not. I have tried restarting it and turning it on and off again but I can't get it to work. I can't click any apps on the right side of my phone, send messages, delete photos, turn the camera, add filters, and I can't use apps very well. What do I do?

How long ago was the iPhone exposed to rain? How long did you attempt to dry it? How did you attempt to dry it? Did you power the device off before allowing it to dry?
More than likely, given the behavior that you are describing, the device is damaged and will need to be replaced. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store for an out of warranty replacement.

  • Zoom to lower right side of a page with scripting

    Hello,
I have a very simple batch processing script which will zoom the page to 100%.
The page view correctly zooms to 100%, and the default view is the top left hand side of the page.
What I require is have the page view scroll set to the bottom right side of the page (done with scripting).
(This is required to read drawing numbers and drawing revisions, without having to manually scroll down each page.)
Can anyone please advise how to approach this with scripting?
Any assistance would be most appreciated.  Script is as follows:
    //Set the zoom to 100%.
    this.zoom = 100;

Thank you very much for your assistance.
I have been able to create a script which will zoom to 100% and scroll to the lower right hand corner of the page.
Instead of trying to make the script work by batch processing, I have created a tool button instead.
The completed script is as follows:
    app.addToolButton({cName: "Shop Drawing View",cExec: "this.zoom = 100;this.scroll(1700, 200);",cTooltext: "View Shop Dwgs",cEnable: true,nPos: 0});

I have an original iPad with the latest software.  When I send an email, the keyboard opens with halk on the right side and halk of the left across the body of the email.  How can I change this?

Tap and hold on the Keyboard key at the bottom right side of the right portion of the keyboard.  You can use the Dock and Merge option from the menu.
Alternatively you can drag the keyboard down and move slightly left, to get it to merge.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500a - Touch screen problem (bottom right-left side)

    hi,
I have a problem with my printer since i changed the black cartridge. At the screen, it display a message with OK at the right/left side but  when I touch the bottom right/left side of the printier touch screen, there is no reaction, can someone tell me what to do. Although, l can print from my computer but i can't make copies from the touch screen.
    Bonjour,

    Hello DanTR,
I see that you are having an issue with the touchscreen on the printer.
When this issue happens it is typically a power related issue. Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I would also suggest that we run the HP Officejet Pro Firmware update.
Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions or concerns.
