CLICKING SOUND IN SPEAKER

K, I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM BUT I'M GETTING DESPARATE. ONE RANDOM NIGHT MY LOUDSPEAKER STOPPED WORKING AND MY SOFT SPEAKER STARTED CLICKING WHENEVER I WAS ON THE PHONE. MY CONVERSATIONS SOUND LIKE THIS: "I-, LI-, GR-, EG-, AN-, HA-" AND SO I COULDN'T USE MY PHONE. I REPLACED THE SOFT SPEAKER. NO LUCK. REPLACED THE LOUD SPEAKER. WEIRD LUCK. IT DIDN'T RING BUT IT PLAYED MUSIC VERY VERY SOFTLY. FINALLY I REPLACED THE ENTIRE HOUSING BECAUSE I FOUND I WAS MISSING SOME COPPER CONNECTORS. STILL NO LUCK. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM? IS IT A SOFTWARE ISSUE I'M NOT AWARE OF? HELP!!!

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Well it sounds like you have replaced all the hardware parts. Have you tried an OS upgrade?
And, by the way, typing in ALL CAPS is bad forum etiquette (aside from being hard to read and comprehend).

  • Incessant clicking sound, only through internal speaker

My powerbook is making an incessant clicking sound from (or near) the left speaker that turns off when I plug in an external speaker. I've searched the archives and found that Tiger was supposed to fix this ages ago, but I'm on OS 10.4.11. What do I do?

May I ask what you use as a work around?
I just noticed that if I change my system preferences to digital out - the internal speaker no longer functions with FCEHD - so now I am thinking that I can run a optical to the input of my M-Audio box and monitor it that way - or it may even feed back into the USB speakers. I feel stupid having to rig up a $4,000 computer system...

  • Powerbook making clicking sound and running slow

I have had my powerbook for 3 years. Just recently it started running very slow and spinning beach ball comes up alot. There is a clicking sound coming from the top left corner of the keyboard by the speaker. When the clicking starts is when the beach ball comes up. It doesn't happen all the time. This occurs about every couple of minutes and then goes away. Once the clicking noise goes away the computer runs fine. I have ran disk utility, onyx and techtools (no errors have come up). Nothing has seemed to fix the problem. Can anyone give me some advice on what might be the problem. Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
That sounds like a hard drive possibly beginning to fail. However, it's located on the left side under the palm rest. In the upper left corner of the keyboard, the only moving part is a fan, however, if that were doing something odd it shouldn't cause the beachball to come up, which leads me to think it's a hard drive issue. Next time you hear the ticking, see if it could be coming from under the left palm rest area.
So, ensure that your important data is backed up, and do it regularly, if not doing that already. Assuming it is your hard drive, you can either live with it, or replace the hard drive. (Don't know if you have Applecare, since you said your system is 3 years old). You may have a 4200rpm drive in there today, with 5400rpm being mainstream today, and 7200rpm the faster option. Sizes go up to 160GB in 5400rpm and 100GB in 7200rpm. Seagates come with a 5 year warranty versus 3 year for most other drives.
If you're handy, you can do the replacment yourself or an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple can do it. If Apple or AASP does the replacement, make sure they write on the service order that you want your old hard drive returned to you. Recently, there was a person who was surprised to find that Apple may retain the drive as a trade in on the replacement drive. Also, if it were me, I would specify I want a new drive and not a refurbished drive.

  • Clicking Sound that Won't Turn Off

Earlier models made it so the clicking sound that occurs when you scroll hade more options that simply on and off. I want to turn the sound off in my headphones, but keep the internal speaker on. Any ideas?

Haha thats funny cuz i want them to only come out of the headphones so i dont disturb others when i click.
Or better yet, clicking through the headphones when nothing is playing.

  • MacBook will not turn on, quite clicking sound when connected to power

I cleaned my MacBook with a damp cloth and now the MacBook will not boot. the first time I turned it on after I cleaned it. it turned on and the screen came on the grey apple loading screen, went away for a minute when I came back it had turned itself off.
Now when I press the power button it will not do anything at all, nothing turns on it is as it is dead. I have left it outside in the sun for a couple of days incase any water got into the machine but it still will not turn on.
When I connect the power cord to the MacBook the is a faint clicking sound coming from it.
This machine is about 3 years old so it is out of warranty.
Any suggestions to what it could be ?

This same thing just happened with mine - the clicking sounds like it's coming from the left speaker. I tried an smc reset and also took a look at the logic board to look for anything I might notice. What was the outcome for you - any info would be very helpful!

  • Clicking sound in MacBook Pro?

Ive 2.0dual core MacBook Pro since March and just last week there started to be a loud clicking sound of something spinning in the top right corner, close to the speaker. I am assuming it is a fan because it is constantly clicking at a fast frequency. Has there been any talk of this problem before? ANd if so is there a fix or do i have to bring it to a Store?

I have had a new C2D macbook for a couple of months and over the last few days have noticed the "kurik" clicking sound. As always you can be assured that a quick search of discussions will turn up threads relating to your concern. I know that this is an old thread but thought it appropriate to post here.
Initially, I was concerned as this clicking was reminiscent of the sound made by dying HD's in several iPods I have owned. However, it is not persistent and if I watch activity monitor each click is usually associated with a short burst of writing activity. If I sit and let the macbook idle, the clicking becomes less frequent. Disk utility showed that the SMART status was 'verifed' and not 'failing.' I would go along with the notion that this is disk management going on in the background - perhaps spotlight or some other kernel task.
As to why I have just noticed it after several weeks, it may be that I have been in quieter environments and the clicking have always been there. As I am writing, the clicking has disappeared. Nonetheless, I will ensure that my home folder and my added applications are backed-up frequently, just in case.
Has anyone actually reported a HDD failure in new macbooks?

  • Slight clicking sound in audio playback

Recently I've noticed my Mini making a slight fuzzy clicking sound at the beginning of any audio it plays back -- whether it's a 1-second event song or a 3-minute song. I use external speakers with it, but I tested it with headphones as well and heard the same thing. I'm honestly not sure if it happens with the internal speaker, because it doesn't really play loudly enough for me to pick it up.
Like I said, this is recent -- I'm sure it hasn't always done this (I've had the computer a little over a month now). Any ideas? It's a slight thing, but pretty bothersome.

    HI SUE,
Thank you for your suggestion. I went to the site and printed off the instructions. I imported my movie into iMovie again and started over with the process by following the suggestions on the print out. It didn't help. In fact the popping sound is even louder.
Do you have any more suggestions? Or do you know anyone else in the disscusion site that may be able to help.
I don't use the disscusion site very often. It ususally takes me a long time to find a disscusion topic that matches my inquiry.
Would you mind e-mailing me at [email protected] with any response you might have. I check my e-mail several times a day but am not always on the internet.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Popping/clicking sound after update

i've just updated with the recommended superdrive firmware 2.1, itunes 7.3, security update 2007-006 (universal) 1.0, mac os x update (intel) 10.4.10 and security update (quicktime 7.1.6) 1.0, and have now noticed a noice that sounds like a loud enough but dull thudding click/pop, more or less on the height of my charge cable socket, in the speaker on the lefthand side of my keyboard
it is not rythmical and stops after 10 min or so, but starts again every so often and than dissappears again for a short time.
changing the angle of the mbp doesn't make a difference...
    anyone with the same?
does anyone know what it is and how to get rid?
    thanx

I am not convinced this is an audio issue. I've turned off my external audio and turned down the internal speaker and the clicking persists.
The "click" sounds mechanical and I am wondering if this is the internal drive? I have tried SMARTreporter and there are no problems reported.
I am no longer hearing the "ping pong ball drop" sound as the internal drive thermally recalibrates. Have Apple changed how the drive calibrates itself during the latest updates?
I work in a very quiet office and this is really beginning to grate!
If this is a drive fault I'd rather get it sorted now rather than wait for it to fail mid-project.
Any help will be most appreciated.

  • IPod is making weird clicking sounds and not responding...

I dropped my IPod last night and it fell onto concrete. Of course.
Right after - It froze on a list menu and would not respond to anything, including being plugged in to the computer. Now the screen is just going from the apple logo to the unhappy IPod picture, and its still making these crunching clicking sounds. Any ideas would be helpful thanks.

i believe the hard drive has been jarred enough to no longer be functional. Unfortunately apple will not cover accidental damage even if its within warranty.
The ipod sad face means that the hard drive is irreparable, If your ipod is within warranty you can go ahead and try to speak to an ipod tech support for some assistance in getting a repair... If it isnt, i heard about a site called www.iresq.com
Theyre a third party repair service for ipods and apple equipment... however i dont know their credibility.
I hope this helps, im sorry for your loss.

  • Connection error, and clicking sound from remote speakers

    Problem:
Remote speakers produce clicking sounds when music is streamed from AirPort. Initially iTunes does not display a connection error, but it displays the following after switching from Base Station to Multiple Speaker mode:
"An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Base Station". An unknown error occurred (-3256)"
The setup worked yesterday, and the Airport Firmware v6.3 and iTunes 6.0.5.20 are installed. I am able to use AirPort Admin Utility from my laptop to remotely change settings and restart the base station.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

So i tried few more things like disable/enable sound card, driver reinstalation, bitrate changing and everything elese i could find here on forums or on the net (pretty much same stuff like here could be find on internet) and strange thing is that no one have same or similar problem like me... i just don't know anymore what to do...

  • Home Button Making Clicking Sound

My iphone's home button is making a clicking sound when pressed. its not from the speaker of the phone but from the button itself. it works but it bugs me that it started clicking. is this normal? thanks
    Message was edited by: adeleon

If the clicking beings to effect the performance of the button, then you should bring in the iPhone to your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar for a diagnosis. As long as there is no accidental damage, a defective button is covered under your one year warranty and/or your applecare extended coverage. Cosmetic issues do not make the unit eligible for in-warranty replacement.

  • Clicking sound HDD MQ01ABB200

    Hi.
Recently I bought a Toshiba MQ01ABB200 internal hdd from Amazon Spain (I am from Spain). When I mount it and the hdd began to write, there was sometimes a clicking sound maybe 3 click in 3 seconds and after that 2 clicks in 30 seconds. when the hdd vas reading, there wasn't any click.
So I turn it back the Amazon and I get a new one, but there is the same problem..
I speak with Toshina support in Spain, but they don't give me a solution. Only to turn it again back.
The clicks are only sometimes at writing and when it goes to idle.
    Crystaldiskinfo don't give problem report.
Does anyone know if this clicking is normal? It's like the head are hitting somethink?

I would not keep one that clicks.

  • Pop/clicking sound when in 5.1 mode under Vista 32bit using the latest 2_18_0004 drive

I'm using S750 speaker system, very noticeable!!!!
I tried 7. mode, still pop/clicking sound!!!!! But no in stereo mode!!!!
It's long time for users that reported this issue, after Creative Labs released so many driver versions, this issue still not been
    corrected, it's really SHAME!!!!!
Hope this get worked out in next release!!!!!!
Hope this will never be heard in X-Fi 2 !!!!!!

X-FI 2 is the same failure as X-FI IN drivers hardware xfi is great, so if you buy the new x-fi2 there will be the same crappy drivers as you use now.
Anyway, Please post spec, Because this is a hard problem to solve many things can make the Sound to crackle.
PSU = To low Watts for a system can make the soundcard crackle,
=2, sharing power with other devices like hard drivers floppy drivers etc.
= Not goot psu enough, bad quality psu can make this beli've me i had the same problem
= Quality cables to the soundcard, use a different rail if that is possible.
Bios = check for bios updates. even if there is none information about creative, sometimes it can help BUT READ INSTRUCTIONS on how to do it and what the stakes are if you do it wrong, and read the forums about the new bios, not allways new bios is good. IF you are a Asus user you should know why.
GFX = Place the soundcard (PCI) away from the grphics card, if you got ex 4pci slots and gfx pci express use the last slot for soundcard, if that dosnt work try 3,2, etc. but futher away from the graphics card should prevent EMI
X-FI= check the power slot in soundcard check for bendings etc.
I had this issue fixed it with new psu, had no idea first but after my ASPIRE TRIO 520w cought fire and i changed it to Antec 620w it allmost dissapeard, then i checked the power slot in X-FI and it was bent outwards, after carefully bending it back the crackle dissapread.
Now im using Cooler Master Real Power 850emba and using a different rail for the soundcard.
Hope you solve it, best regards Commander

  • Clicking sound when making a call from mac

When I try to answer a call or make a call I have a horrible clicking sound. Don't think a speaker is blown because I tried to play music and it sounds fine. Assuming I just have a setting that is wrong some where. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you!

I had this happen as well. Restarting my MacBook Pro (8,2) made it go away. At other times it seemed to appear when calling some phones (my wife's iPhone 4 and my son's Samsung phone) but not others (my land line), but this was not consistent. My phone is an iPhone 5. I'm hoping the iOS update due tomorrow will fix this.
