Clicking URL in web browser opens Acrobat

I'm using Acrobat 6.0 Professional, Windows XP SP2, and Internet Explorer 7.0. I have a Dell Inspiron 1520, 1.99GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM.
On some websites, when I click on a url link, it tries to open acrobat instead of going to the url. I get the following messages:
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again.
So I click OK. It opens Acrobat. I close Acrobat by clicking on the X. Then I get the following message:
There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit and try again.
So I click OK. It opens Acrobat. I close Acrobat by clicking on the X. And then it opens the correct URL in the web browser.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

On the other hand, my users want this. I just pushed out the Reader 8.2.3 update with the 8.2.0 install. Unfortunately, I had erroneously set the mst to "Make Reader default if both Acrobat and Reader are installed." They all want Acrobat to be their default. Can I use this same registry setting? I'm going to try it for a few people and see if it works.
Thanks,
E Powell

  • A second web browser opens when I initially open firefox.

    a second web browser opens when I initially open firefox. This also happens in Aurora.

    I am not sure what it is that you are seeing. Is it possible that Firefox is opening two windows?
    If you have two Firefox windows open and close down Firefox, and have your preferences set to open as it was previously then it will open two windows.
    You mention Firefox and Aurora. Do you have both of these installed on the same computer ? If so it would be a good idea to use separate unique profiles for each.

  • Is it possible to hide url in web browser when a web report is generated ?

    HI EVERYONE,
    I have to generate web report from my form , when it is generated i need to hide the url in web browser. otherwise the report can be accessed by copying the url.

    How do you call your report? If you use run_report_object you won't see an URL. However, with a jobid you can still get the report output. Keep the cache small, or add parameter [ EXPIRATION|http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/reports/10.1.2/state?navSetId=_&navId=3&vtTopicFile=htmlhelp_rwbuild_hs/rwrefex/cmdline/common/cla_expiration.htm&vtTopicId=] to avoid problems.

  • Open URL in Web Browser from a Java Application

    Hi,
    I have an HTML document that I want to load in a browser window by clicking on a button in my java GUI application.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    You can use the Process class to start the web browser with the proper command line arguments (depends on the web browser though). Or on windows, you can have your program create a batch file with the code start url (where [url] is your url), and this will open the default web browser when run (again you must run it with a Process).

  • PDF-in web browser - open link in new window

    I've done a lot of searching for JavaScript code to solve this: if a PDF is being viewed in a web browser, and the user clicks a link in that PDF, the default is to have the linked page replace the original. I would like it to open a new window in the browser. E.g., if there is a link in the PDF to abc.com, then when the user clicks that link, the original PDF stays open and a new window opens to abc.com. Any help?

    In the JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference look up the app.launchURL() method. The second parameter is a boolean value that describes whether or not you want the URL to open in a new window.

  • Using "sapbi://" URL in web browser for stress-testing

    Hello,
    I want to test the connection limits of the deployed MobileBIService in the CMC, as I've experienced some sluggish connections.
    I've checked, and the "sapbi://" URI points directly to the SAP BI app, which then opens the requested report. A link example is:
    sapbi://OpenDoc/?
    ConnectionType=BOEConnection&connection_name=123&server_url=10.10.10.10:8080&cms=10.10.10.10&Type=webi&iDocID=AXtcyDP4u09Jn1_P9BSR9H0
    Is it possible to mask http data coming from a web browser, as coming from a mobile device (via the SAP BI app), in order to test the mobile service/server?
    If not, what is the http data request used in the app that can be used in a web browser, and still go through the MobileBIService?
    Is there a way to trace the data, to make sure that that server is being stressed?
    I am using:
    Android SAP BI app;
    SAP BO 4.1 SP04, with Mobile CMS deployed.
    Thanks in advance for the insights!
    Best Regards,
    Hugo Afonso

  • Mighty Mouse wheel click used as web browser backup

    Is it possible to configure the mouse wheel click to use it as the web browser "backup" instead of using the left arrow at the top left of screen or the "apple" + left arrow shortcut? I know these buttons are configurable but haven't seen anything for this option.
    imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    I use my MM nipple as a browser back button. I never configured it that way. It came that way. However, I do not "click" the nipple (scroll wheel). If I click the nipple the widgets pop up.
    I just scroll the nipple towards the left & the browser page will go to the previous page.
    If I scroll to the right, the browser will go to the next page if I had previously been there.
    Is the above what you are asking?
    EDIT: The above works with Firefox & Mozilla. I no longer use Safari but I guess it works in that browser also as I rarely use "browser" back buttons.

  • Viewing PDF in web browser in Acrobat 6.0

    I still have Acrobat 6.0, and PDFs won't open in my browser (Internet Explorer). When I go into Edit then Preferences then Internet, the box for "Display PDF in browser" is checked but it's gray rather than black, so I can't uncheck it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    It may be the installation of the Reader caused the problem. Acrobat and Reader and not recommended for installation on the same machine because of some strange interactions. You might try a repair of AA6.

  • How long should a new battery last when installed for a mac book pro 2009 with only a web browser opened?

    I recently went to the apple store in Covent garden and had a battery replaced for my Mac Book Pro 2009 edition.
    After fully charging the mac the percentage guage meter displays the battery is losing power fast. 1% increments goes down every 5 minutes even if I have only a browser which is opened and no other running applications.
    My recent test after a fully charged mac book pro allowed me a maximum use time is 2 hours!
    I have friends and family members who have the same model as me and their mac book when running on battery, shows that the laptop has about 6 hours use.  They are able to run multiple applications and use sites such as Youtube and still get a good 4 hours of use.
    Anyway, I have booked an appointment with a Mac Genius for tomorrow to look into this issue.
    I thought I'd just ask the community to find out if any of you can help.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Thank you Donald.
    You are the second person to tell me this so this is more of a reason for Apple to sort out issue for me.
    The team there don't believe there is an issue with the battery.
    Thank you once again.

  • How to play .wav file from URL in web browser embed

    Hi;
    I want to play a .wav sound file in embed default media player in IE. Sound file is on some HTTP location. I am unable to sound it in that player.
    Following is the code.
    URL url = new URL("http://www.concidel.com/upload/myfile.wav");
            URLConnection urlc = url.openConnection();
            InputStream is = (InputStream)urlc.getInputStream();
             fileBytes = new byte[is.available()];
             while (is.read(fileBytes,0,fileBytes.length)!=-1){}
    BufferedOutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(response.getOutputStream());
             out.write(fileBytes);Here is embed code of HTML.
    <embed src="CallStatesTreeAction.do?ivrCallId=${requestScope.vo.callId}&agentId=${requestScope.vo.agentId}" type="application/x-mplayer2" autostart="0" playcount="1" style="width: 40%; height: 45" />1. If I write in FileOutputStream then it plays well
    2. If I replace my code of getting file from URL to my local hard disk. then it also works fine.
    I don't know why I am unable to play file from HTTP. And why it plays well from local hard disk.
    Please help.

    You'll have to ask the devleopers of sencha and phonegap.

  • How can I open multiple instances of the same folder and web browser in different desktops in Lion?

    I've selected "none" for association but it doesn't work. In other words, I have a Dropbox folder on my desktop. I'd like to be able to open that same folder using the same shortcut on different Lion desktops. However, whenever I try to use the same shortcut on a different desktop, it switches to the one where it's already open. Same problem with web browsers; if I try to just click on a web browser to create a new window, it will take me back to the other desktop.
    I didn't have this problem before I had to replace my hard drive and update everything again. I am aware of the "restart Finder" option as well as associating programs with individual desktops. All of the things in question are currently selected as "none."
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I just set Safari's option to None. That is I right clicked on the dock, selected options, and chose none. Also, in Mission Control's tab of System Preferences I clicked Off When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for that application. That let me open a new Safari window no matter what desktop I was in. But I had to do both. Just setting the desktop option to none didn't seem to do it. Finder seems to work okay with just the none option set.

  • Can't open web browser in solaris 10

    I'm on the java desktop for solaris. I click on the browser it acts like it is going to open and then nothing happens. Is there something else I need to set up.
    Thanks In Advance

    Right click on the Web Browser launcher and check the Properties for the launcher. Make sure what ever command is set to run exists on the filesystem (I believe it's set to /usr/sfw/bin/mozilla by default). Also, you can try running whatever command is set in the launcher from a terminal window, this way you should see if there is any error reported back.

  • When i click on a weblink, VCL opens instead of browser.. !

    Somehow my settings got messed up. When i click on a link, say in an email, instead of my browser opening the web page - VCL opens up. How do I reset this?

  • Opening a web browser from a Java prog

    I am writing a pseudo-wordprocessor, and would like to be able to set a JMenuItem's action so that when a user clicks it, the system default web browser opens with the web page that I have selected. (e.g. open up a "Help" web page).
    The JavaDoc/tutorial doesn't seem to have anything on running external programs from within a Java program, so does nayone know how this is done?

    If you don't want to go the Java Runtime route and make your program a bit more cross-platform friendly, you could use the JEditorPane to render an html page directly in your application (assuming of course that you're using Swing).
