Client 3.1.1.15 hangs on startup for about 30 seconds

we have upgraded to 3.1.1.15 and when we now launch the client it hangs for about 30 seconds-1 minute after launch, i think that it checking for updates bit failing ?? the server has a perfectly good working network connection
anyone else seeing this ?

HI there. I have also seen this, both on my own VM's and on a customer site this week (06/24/14). The Product Manager has been informed, so there should be a fix shortly. to get around this for the moment, I went into "Configure / Client config" and unchecked "check for updates". You can still do this manually. When a fix comes out, simply re-check the updates box.

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended hangs for about 12 seconds ... please help!

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have the following problem:
I can open PDF documents just fine. But after about 3-4 seconds the program hangs / freezes for about 12 seconds. I've tried everything (defined a non-network printer as default printer, deactivated unecessary fonts with a font manager, deactivated most of the plugins from Adobe Acrobat etc.)... nothing helps to solve this issue.
Can anybody give me a hint or have a solution for this ???

I do have the same problem but I'm OSX 10.6.8
I have a Phaser 7500, and it works fine with ID, PS, AI, and Acrobat Reader 9.5
But crashes with Acrobat Pro 9.5 and Lightroom 3.6

After Effects CS6 hangs for about 20 seconds every few minutes or so.

I'm using AE CS6 and every few minutes (anywhere from 5 to 20) it'll just hang for about 20 seconds. The spinning Windows 7 wheel pops up, then when I click AE it goes transparent white and "not responding" pops up in the title bar. I wait about 20 seconds and everything returns to normal. I can't figure out WHAT could be causing this as there's no log or error to really check.
32 gigs of RAM on a Xeon E3 v2 Ivy Bridge chip. 660 Ti Nvidia card. Windows 7 Pro.
It's such a weird vague problem, that I don't know how to troubleshoot it. Multiprocessing of frames is turned off. 24 gigs allocated to AE.

Figured it out, at least so far. I upped the amount of GPU RAM it was allowing AE to use. I swear I did this before, but apparently didn't. So now..no hangs. I'm sure at some point I'll work on a hefty enough project to bottleneck the GPU, but at least I'm good for now.

After hanging up a call, the call is placed on hold for about 10 seconds then dropped

We are working on integrating Lync with our phone system and have discovered that when a call is ended from Lync, it appears to go into Hold state for about 10 seconds before it is disconnected. Using CUCM with Mobility, I can see my line appearance
change from just being in use (while on Lync), to holding the call (after hanging up in Lync).
If the outside party terminates the call, it is terminated immediately on our end.
It worked for me.

Firefox4 freezes on startup after about 10 seconds. A second parallel instance of firefox works normally as long as the first instance is left alone frozen. What causes this and how can it be prevented?

I am running firefox4 on win XP. When I start firefox, it says it is trying to restore a previous session which has only the blank tab. After about 10 seconds the whole instance of firefox freezes - none of the buttons work and the only way to close firefox is to use the Ctrl+Alt+Del and task manager. If I open a second parallel sessionof firefox, it works normally, as long as the first session is left alone (frozen). What could be causing the freeze up of the first firefox instance, and how can it be prevented?

I've done some research on the SQLite database. Whenever Aperture hangs up (like during auto-stack or opening the filter hud) there are thousands of SQLite queries happening. These SQLite queries cause massive file I/O because the database is stored on the disk as 1kb pages. However, the OS is caching the database file; mine's only 12MB. I'm trying to track down some performance numbers for SQLite on osx but having trouble.
It's starting to look like most of the speed problems are in the libraries that Aperture uses instead of the actual Aperture code. Of course, that doesn't completely let the developers off the hook since they choose to use them in the first place.

During normal operation (fresh install, no plugins) periodically and unpredictably hangs for about 15 seconds before continuing.

Program hangs for a number of seconds before continuing. All operations within the window are arrested.
Attempted reinstall of Firefox 6.0, and also disabled all plugins. Reenabled plugins (shown in info. below). Attempted rebooting.
Problem occurs periodically, at random intervals when browsing, typing, or doing any task.

I assume that it isn't caused by an extension and that it still happens with all extensions disabled?
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

RDP users with Printer redirection enabled, cause Terminal Server 2008R2 to hang for about 10 seconds

We have several 2008R2 Terminal Servers with roughly 40 users working on each of them. Everytime a user logs on or off with printer redirection enabled in his RDP client (we use the Easy print feature), all other users experience a freeze of
10 seconds on that server. Needless to say, this behaviour of the server is not acceptable. We searched all of Google and implemented and tested every proposed solution, including the registry additions to the lanman part but all with no effect. Can anyone
provide us with a possible solution? It would be immensely appreciated!

Which version of client OS & RDP using for your environment?
Initially I would like you to try installing latest RDP 8.1 if you are using Windows 7 and if using Windows XP then please use RDP 7. In addition check .Net Framework 3.5 or higher installed. Apart as Bruno suggested, please check the latest driver installed
on RDS server. Also check the Event log for any information. For more detail, refer below article.

My Firefox hangs every now and again for about 30 seconds. I get a message saying it is not responding and it's driving me mad! Only happened recently, haven't done anything major to my computer in that time.

I did recently mess things up with a Vaio update and my computer then wouldn't do anything, wouldn't connect to internet etc. I did 2 system restores and it now seems to work fairly well apart from this hanging business.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.
Try to decrease the value of the pref <b>network.http.max-connections</b> from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Photoshop CS4 crashing on startup after about 15 seconds

I was using Photoshop working on a project all day yesterday, and now today whenever I try to start up Photoshop it loads then freezes after about 15 seconds and crashes. I don't know what has caused this as the program has worked flawlessly on my computer for as long as I've had CS4. Any ideas?

Trash the settings folder the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings folder in your User's Preferences but it sounds like a corrupt font or font cache problem and may resurface, I would check out the integrity of your fonts with something like Font Agent Pro and clean your fnt cache files with Cocktail.
The reason it worked fine is that you probably never used that font or it has since become corrupt or has taken this long for the cache to becoe corrupt.

Getting light blue screen during startup for 3-5 Seconds

I get a light blue screen during start up for about 3-5 seconds. It shows the spinning image for loading, once its done that goes away and then it goes light blue for couple seconds then back to the white page with the apple logo then brings me to the user login page. It also takes longer then usual to start up, load dock and the menu bar. I've read around and it seems people are saying its normal? but this just started happening.

Which model Macbook Pro do you have?

Go to your Account/Login Items and get rid of all you do not need.

Audition CS6 - very slow startup! About 60 seconds...

I'm evaluating Audition CS6 (Master Collection) on my Windows 7 64bit Ultimate, 18 GB ram, i7 920, SSD Crucial M4 128GB, Xonar Essence.
The other programs of the suite open in really 2 seconds thanks to the SSD, Audition takes every time 61 seconds!
I think it's because it has to initialize something.
Once it's open it works perfectly and it's fast.
Any ideas?

Hi Matt,
That is definitely NOT normal. Opening within 5 seconds on a standard system was our goal, and with an SSD it should be practically instantaneous.
With the Xonar Essence, are you using ASIO drivers or MME? If you changed the audio device in the preferences to the built-in device on the motherboard, does Audition still take this long to start? (This could help rule out the audio device or drivers being the cause.)
If you could send the file C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Audition\5.0\Audition Log.txt to [email protected] we might be able to see where it's getting delayed. (If you don't see this file, save an empty text file to this location with the filename "Audition Log.txt" without the quotation marks and Audition will begin logging on the next launch.)

Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008) RAID card hangs at startup

I have a Mac Pro 2.8Ghz Quad Core (early 2008) with 10GB RAM and 512MB VRAM.
I have noticed that the Mac Pro RAID card hangs at startup for RAID volumes.
It seems to start okay with a single boot drive (have used both WD Raptor 150GB 10K and Seagate 'factory' 320GB 7200rpm as boot drives...)
But the RAID 0 array using two factory 1TB WD 7200rpm is what seems to hang at startup. I have run Disk Warrior, Disk Utility and RAID Utility and found no major errors...
Any suggestions? Have already replaced the RAID Card battery with OEM part.

Say good-bye to the Apple Pro RAID card. It started its life as a $999 card to support SAS/SCSI and/or RAID5.
Then the problems with 2.5TB drives, battery, and does it really do something and add to your system.
I would use SoftRAID and create a 3-drive mirror of 2TB drives instead.
And an SSD for the system.
Seems like those are some very old drives.
I have a lot of the 150GB 10K VR drives, and some 300GB along with older 74GB and a couple of the Raptor series. Loud and while solid I would use for spare boot drives, clone only.
Backup your data, pull the RAID card, and restore to the drives. And clone the system onto a 250GB $109 SSD. $139 buys a 400MB/sec writes and 800MB/sec reads Samsung PCIe-SSD XP941. None of my SCSI 15K drives would come close.

I have recently loaded os 5 and now have trouble with my iPad 2 on start up, it hangs for about 10 minutes then returns to the apple logo and then loads.does anyone else have this problem?

Os 5.0.1 startup problems. iPad 2 hangs on startup since upgrading fom os4.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Firefox 3.6.15 keeps stuttering or hanging for a few seconds constantly but its only firefox and nothing else on the computer

I have been using firefox 3.6.15 with no problems since it came out. But just recently it has started to hang or freeze for a few seconds about every 10 seconds. Everything else on the computer still works nothing else is frozen just Firefox. I haven't added anything new to firefox or installed any programs. Adblock Plus and Stumbleupon are the two addons I use.

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!

I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!

Safari 5.1.7 - osx 10.7.4 - MBA
Safari hangs when adding a bookmark or deleting/changing order/moving to new folders etc.
Hangs for about 5 seconds and then completes the task.
It will do the first change just fine, then any further bookmarks adds/changes will hang the browser.
I've tried all the suggested steps, clear cache, reset etc.
Problem comes right back.
