Client Change options in SCC4 (SAP ECC 6.0)

Hi,
Our SAP Development system SCC4 settings are as mentioned below:
1.Changes and transports for client-specific objects : Automatic recording of changes
2.Cross-client object changes : Changes to repository and cross-client customizing allowed
3.Protection regarding client copy/comparison,: Protection level 1: No overwriting
Please suggest me , above mentioned settings are correct?
Development users are complainting that they are getting error "SAP System has status 'not modifiable'", Can anyone please help me how to solve this problem?

Local client copy giving trouble SAP ECC 6.0

Hello All,
I installed SAP ecc 6.0 Implementation version. Then created 100 client as Development and 200 client as Golden client.
Our Functional people are using 100 client for development activities.
Now Functional people need sand box client 300.
Created 300 client by using 000 client, user ddic. Using transaction scc4.
Logged on with 300 client, user sap*, p/w pass. Gone to sccl transaction trying to copy 100 client data to 300 client.
BUT IT IS SHOWING

Date and Time              10.01.2008 11:12:12
Shot dump has not been completely stored ( too big)

Time Limit exceeded.
What happened?
The program SAPLSDBI_DYNSQL has exceeded the maximum permitted runtime with out interruption and has therefore been terminated
VIRTUAL MEMORY PROBLEM I AM GETTING, TRY TO GIVE THE SOLUTION FOR SOLVING THE ISSUE.

If any changes are done in SAP BO Analysis office, then the change can be done in the SAP BW in the respective Targets.
But how can we do the changes in the SAP ECC ? Is it possible to do the changes in the tables ?

We are using the "Input ready Bex query", in order to modify the values in "BO Analysis office".

From ECC we can load the data (Consider Value-1) to SAP BI and from SAP BI we can load the data to BO analysis office.
So, now if we change the data in BO Analysis office (Value-1 changed to Value-2)..
Now the data is changed in SAP BI to Value-2.
So what about the data in ECC ? Whether it is changed or not?
Please provide us a real time business Scenario..

Real time job doesn't receive automatically changes in SAP ECC 6

Hi Experts,
 
 I'm trying to (using Data Integrator) automatically retrieve data from SAP ECC and store it in a local database table. I followed the steps written in this article: http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Receiving+IDOCs. I'm modifying some records in the Cost Center Master Data (CSKS) and using COSMAS01 as the IDOC in which I'm trying to send the information.
 
 All seems to be OK, since I manually sent a Cost Center data row using the /nbd16 transaction, SAP ECC displayed a message telling that an IDOC had been generated. Also, when I checked the IDOC status in BD87 it had status 03, meaning that it had been sent correctly.
 
 In Data Services when I clicked on 'View Data' in the local database table that I put in the dataflow I could see the rows that I manually sent from the ECC. However, after truncating the local table, it bothered me that when I tried to send manually a second IDOC with another row from the Cost Center Master Data table, my real-time job didn't receive the request and consequently didn't insert the desired rows. I didn't change anything in the configuration, so my first question to any of you is that if you know what could it be that causes my real-time job to not receive the request from ECC?. I tried making a third try, but at my company they had to shut down the ECC server, so it's going to be a while before I make another try.
 
 Now, the REAL question of this post is that after I sent the first IDOC successfully (and before sending manually the second one mentioned earlier), I changed a record in the CSKS table directly in the ECC, hoping that it would automatically generate an COSMAS01 IDOC and send all the data in the table to the Data Integrator. This didn't happen and no IDOC was generated, so do any of you know why the automatic change didn't trigger the sending of the IDOC with the data?
 
 As I said before, I made the configuration in ECC and DI following the steps in the link written at the start of the post, and it was tested OK by successfully sending a COSMAS01 IDOC once, manually using bd16.

In homogeneous system copy its possible , its possible to change SID when you are importing but is it possible for heterogeneous copy to change the SID
here the file system is built with target SID (eg : usr/sap/XYZ , sapmnt/XYZ , oracle/XYZ)
or we have to create the symlinks like oracle/ABC-->oracele/XYZ and then we have to delete the symlinks and change the SID

e.g. 1) Customer Master data template is SOP_MD_CustomerMaster for extracting master data from SAP ECC and load it to S&OP

SAP R/3 System analysis before upgrade 4.6C -- SAP ECC 6.0

Hello!
Before the upgrade from R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 I would like to execute SAP R/3 system analysis.
The following functions should be included in this program:
- detailed analysis of system modifications (effort driver and risk factor during an Upgrade)
- comparison against a SAP ERP 6.0 reference system
- extension SAP tools, including RBE and conflict lists (SPAU/SPDD)
- syntax analysis of program code with respect of adjustement need
- quality control of own development
- control of amount of transports within different company areas
- control of user information, such a user type, logon date, etc.
- basic control, whether a sufficient authorization concept is available
- Identification of objects that should be considered for the archiving in oder to decrease the db-size
My question are:
- which tasks can be convered with SAP standard transactions what are the names of the transactions?
- which effort do I investigate for these tasks?

Need to consider the following things:
For Reportsits custom developed program so unless there is any kind of change in requirement from the client regarding the layoutnothing needs to be changedI think it will work fine in ECC 6.0 toexcept few things may needs to be changed..so you need to discuss whether they want the reorts as it is right nowor want to change the layout (adding some new info/fields etc) of any reportso u need to modify the program for thoseand estimate accordinglyfor a medium complexitys Report dev it takes approx 9 pd (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing)so to modify it will be less than that (depending upon the scope of changes)
Now say for Batch Inputs(interface/Data Migration) using BDCyou need to see how many BDCs are thereagain if the field lengths and layouts are not changingthen no need to change anything (except the main thing..you need to change the obsolete function modulesthere are some in 4.6 c like for data upload ws_upload_*** is there 4.6C but obsolete in ECC6.0there are some new with enhanced functionality so you need to modify the BDCsand many cases it happens that the whole transaction screen changes for processin that case better to develop new BDCsso you have to consider those parameterlook into and estimate accordinglymodifying a BDC should not take more than 1 PD
Now say for Formsthere was no Smart form in 4.6Cform printer was there..though the same option is there in ECC 6.0 too..but better to go for/should go for Smart formin that caseits complete new devso estimate accordinglya medium complexitys form should take 8 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing)you can take it as 10 PD tooeven if client wants to keep it is as it was in older versionyou have to redevelop the layout in ECC 6.0 againas form printer is even client dependentmaximum you can copy the program associated with that form in the new version tooand your effort will be savedagain you have to consider if clients wants to change the layout too
Now for enhancementso in that case u need to see individual casesfor a medium complexity enhancement it should take max 15 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing)
One more important thing is that the Unicode Compatibilitythis needs to be done.needs to change the code (variable name) accordingly.also Version management tool is used for the standard programs

Dispacher not getting Started...SAP ECC 6.0 on Win2K3 and Oracle.

I have installed SAP ECC 6.0 (OS-Win2003sp2 DB-Oracle10g). Installation was successful, I have also logged in and created a user in SU01. But when I restart the system I am not able to up the sapserver. SAP MMC - dispacher is not starting. I have started OracleListener in service.sap and restarted the system. What is System Change Option Used For?

Hi,
I need help on security.
we use scc4 settings for client protection. the settings are 'No changes allowed' for client-specific objects and 'No Changes to Repository and cross-client customizing objects' for cross-client object changes.
system change options are set to 'Modifiable'. what is the difference between these settings? Is there any situation that may cause problems?

      No Changes allowed flag is explained as below
This flag means that changes in the customizing settings of the client
are not permitted (client lock).
However, customizing settings can be exported from the client by manual
creation of a transport request. A manual transport can be carried out
in the particular transaction for settings with the function Transport,
which places the selected customizing settings in a transport request.
In a productive client, the customizing settings that can be maintained
as "current settings" are excluded from the client lock; this means that
current settings (e.g. exchange rates, posting periods) can always be
maintained in the productive client
For 'No changes to Repository and cross cleint customizing objects' explained below
   o   Changes to the Repository and cross-client Customizing permitted
       There are no restrictions on the maintenance of cross-client object
       for the client when this setting is used. Both cross-client
       Customizing objects and objects of the SAP Repository can be
       maintained.
   o   No change to cross-client Customizing objects
       Cross-client Customizing objects cannot be maintained in the client
       with this setting.
   o   No change to Repository objects
       With this setting, objects of the SAP Repository cannot be
       maintained in the client.
   o   No change to Repository and cross-client Customizing objects
         Combination of both restrictions: Neither cross-client Customizing
objects nor objects of the SAP Repository can be maintained in the
client.

As suggested in this log, please try to see the logs import_monitor.java.log, import_monitor.log
However above log files might not suggest something specific but as we can see the latest error was w.r.t the package SAPAPPL2.
Please try to see SAPAPPL2.log and we should get something specific there as why the loading job failed for this package.

Difference between SAP CRM Security and SAP ECC 6.0 security

I have extensively worked on SAP ECC security but haven't have chance to work on CRM Security.
Can anyone please let me know the difference between CRM security compared to ECC security.

I am sorry to say, but instead of giving the guy a decent answer you are starting a fight or discussion about stupid forum points...
really sad.....
The big difference between SAP ECC and SAP CRM Security (up to release 5.0) was the following:
1) For sure there are very different transaction codes in SAP CRM as compared to SAP ECC in the first place
2) If you are familiar with R/3 or ECC authorizations; then you know that already on transaction code level, the 'allowed activity' is controlled on tcode level , whereas in SAP CRM , in most cases the 'allowed activity is not controlled by the Transaction code, but on authorization object level....
E.g. transaction code BP allows you to create/change/display any type of Business Partner (e.g; sold-to/ship-to/contact person/employee/customer) which is based on the business partner ROLE concept.... anyway...you can control the allowed activity based on different authorization objects.....
another example is business transaction processing...which can be launched by:
a very generic transaction code: CRMD_ORDER
transaction category related transaction codes :e.g.
> CRMD_BUS2000126 for activity management
> CRMD_BUS200115 for Sales processes
Again...allowed activity is not controlled by the tcode, but on authorization object level...
3) As of the new WEBCLIENT UI (which is valid as of release CRM2006s/CRM2007/CRM7.0) SAP also invented an extra authorization layer, which is UI COMPONENT LEVEL and logical links.... controlled by object UIU_COMP.
However, they also introduced the BUSINESS ROLE Concept (e.g; SALESPRO/MARKETINGPRO/...) which defines actually the functionalities, navigation bar, screen configuration, logical links you can use/see within the new WEBclient UI.
Another thing is that instead of using TRANSACTION CODES, as of these new releases, you are actually using 'external services'....so you do not authorize on tcodes basically....but the logic between tcodes and external services in relation to the authorization objects that are checked is more or less the same....
STANDARD authorization setup in the new WEBUI client is therefore controlled by both backend authorizations (not UIU component related) and the UIU_COMP (restricting access to workcenters/logical links/...)
4) Additionally SAP also provides a concept called ACE (which stand for ACCES CONTROL ENGINE)....
This requires a bit of customizing...and the rest is more or less pure customer development, as you will create your own methods where you'll define a logic which dynamically will verify what kind of access you have for an object....
You should now that ACE is actually implemented on top of your 'normal' sap crm security setup....

From the ABAP perspective, few differences are.
The WS_* function modules used in 4.6c has become obsolete from 4.7C. All the WS_* FMs have been replaced by GUI_* FMs.
(ii) Concept of Unicode is introduced.
(iii) Few tables have been modified in ECC6.0.
Tables TVARV & TTREX have been replaced by TVARVC & TTREXN respectively.
(iv) we have enhancement points and enhancement sections along with enhancemnts and BADI'S . and we can write the part of code in those points.

ECC->enterprise central component.ECC 6.0 is the advanced version.if we consider in technical point of view then i can give u one example.
In the new version we have enhancement points and enhancement sections along with enhancemnts and BADI'S.SAP has provided these ,so that without going for access keys we can write our code in the enhancement points along with Standard SAP code.So now SAP has provided more user friendly environment.Also a new DEBUGGER also arrived with the new version.Now we can see more things in the new er version of DEBUGGER.

Generic extraction-->table, view, infoset query, function module
Generic extractors are of 3 types:
1. Based on table/view
2. Based on Infoset Query
3. Based on Function module
GenericSteps
Log on sap R/3.
Step 1. create a table or view for generic extraction in se11.
Step 2. Goto t-code RSO2
Step 3. Here u have to decide whether to extract transaction data or master data attributes or texts.
Step 4. suppose if u have opted for transaction data,then give name in the column ex:ztd_m(data source name)
Step 5. select create button,this will take u to another screen.
Step 6. Here u have to decide from which application component u r extacting data.Ex: SD,MM,..
Step 7. in this screen u have to fill short disciption,medium,long( these r mandatory).
Step 8. then U have to Table name or view name which u have created in se11.
Step 9. I f u want to maintain generic delta then u can select generic delta in top left hand side corner.
Step 10. in next screen u have to give some field which is primary key.
step 11. here u to specify whether time stamp or cal day or numeric pointer depending on u r requirement.
step 12. then u have to specify whether new status for changed records or additive delta.
If u choose additive delta ,then u have to load data to infocube or ods object.
If u choose new status for changed records, then u to load data to ods object only.
Step 13. then save it.
Step 14. then logon to sap bw ,then replicate the data source then as usuall.
