Client Copy from BWP to BWT
I had a problem with my List Cube Transaction and for that reason, I had a look at the Infoprovider and also the Data Sources.
When tried to execute the infoproviders in LISTCUBE, the following messages are being displayed in BWT system:
1. Error reading the data of InfoProvider ZIP_RC_01
2. There is still no data source assigned to VirtualProvider ZIP_RC_01
But, when executed the same in BWD, then it is working fine.
I have checked the Data Sources in the R/3 Dev system and the DS has no problem. But, when I check the DS in the R/3 Prod (SS in BWT system), the following error message is displayed in the status bar:
"DataSource Z_IP_RC_DS_1 is not defined in the source system"
I thought, as the system says the Source system is not available, hence the problem in LISTCUBE and thought if we transport the DS again and then replicate in BW, then our problem would be resolved.
But, seems that even though the source system says "PRD300", if I look at SM59 it actually points to our QAS system. It says PRD300 because BWT is a copy down from BWP, and that's the source system we use - in other words the logical name is the same, but the actual servers are different.
In any case, the datasource is transported to our QAS enviroment.
So, once we do a client copy from Prod to Test, even the source systems get copied. If yes, then does it really affect in case of replications and transports???
I am really confused in this part...please explain.
Thanks & Regards
Hi,
It looks like the basis team, or whoever performed the Copy from production to QA box hasn't finished all the necessary Steps :
Main transaction to know:
SSC4 -> To create new client
SCCL -> Client copy within local system
SCC9 -> remote client copy
SCC3 -> display client copy log

Probably sounds like transaction BDLS hasn't been done.

Logical system on QAS after remote client copy from PRD to QAS
I wander after remote client copy from PRD to QAS do I have to change Logical system on QAS. Do I have to run some postprocessing program?
Thank you in advanceHi Branko,
After the system copy, go to transaction SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Define Logical System , click New Entries and create a new logical system for your QAS; then go to SALE -> Sending and receiving Systems -> Logical systems -> Assign Client to Logical System, click on the client, click change and assign the new Logical system.
Other activities, check Jobs, RFC's, etc...

Loging on new client copying from 0000 with SCC4 is failure(ECC6)
Hi,Expers:
Now I have a quesion: After I finished the ECC 6 Installation, I want to copy a new client.
So I log on the client: 000 with name: SAP*, and finished copying a new client :100 with tcode: SCC4.
Then I log off the SAP system and restart the SAP MMC and OS.After that, I log on the SAP client:100 with name :SAP*.
but, I can't log in the new client:100 ,system shows error messages: Name or password is in correct (repeat logon).
Have logon Name: SAP* any issues: password or the other reasons?
Have anyone the question??
Plesase help me solve the issue, Thanks in advanceHi Lin,
After new installation we have to changed setting in instance file for use sap* user in new client.
First you import the profile.
The user name SAP* is only active if the profile parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar does not have the value 1.

Edited by: Shivam Mittal on Aug 14, 2008 6:08 AMHello Shivam
How is your remote copy going on?
Did you increase the size of psap temp in order to carryon with the copy?
Your Source system is PRD system. Are you doing this copy while users are using the PRD system.
If not then this may not be result of client copy? or
if no user is logged in in your PRD system,You have to decide if this is due to client copy.
Let me know what corrective measure taken by you to completed the remote client copy?
normally we dont get this dump in the source system but I have psaptemp around 30 GB or more in al my systems so may be this might have not surfaced in my environment.
Thanks

Dear All,
I am trying to do Remote client copy from Production to Dev system (two system landscape).Below is my hardware configuration of DEV and PRD system :
SAP - R/3 4.7(NU) , O/S - AIX , DB - ORACLE 9
PRD SYSTEM :
DATABASE Server
CPU - 2 (375 MHZ)
RAM - 3 GB
APPLICATION server
CPU - 2 (375 MHZ)
RAM - 2 GB
Database size of the Prd system is around 95 GB
DEV SYSTEM
CPU - 2 (375 MHZ)
RAM - 2 GB
I am doing test run first so that i can see if any errors come and also to estimate downtime of the PRD Server(as SAP recommends that no user should be login in target and source client while doing client copy).
From the last 24 hrs. it has just completed 2500 tables only. total tables are 27500 something(Non - Unicode system). Its running very slow....
Is there any way to improve the speed of Remote client copy ?
Else I am planing to do Export - Import of client.
Is there any way to estimate downtime of PRD Server while taking Export of client like In how much time Export of Source client will be completed....
Thanks & Regards,
RohitHi Rajesh,

I want to go for the process you suggested.
I have a question for this;
1. My DEV server is the domain controller and when I login to my PRD server and run the command df -k (it shows /usr/sap/trans directory mounted to DEV server).
So if I change the location trans directory through STMS (system overview DEV-->Transport tool) will it get updated for PRD or I need to restart the machine DEV or PRD. do I need to do anything else like mounting etc so that PRD server can access the same to save the export file when I will be taking the export of PRD client.

SWN_SELSEN not working in test client after client-copy
Hi all,
We are using extended notification without problem until test client was refreshed by client-copy from production client. In test client, report SWN_SELSEN did not generated notification even there are newly generated workflow items. Because of client-copy, I found that tables SWN_NOTIF, SWN_NOTIFTSTMP, SWN_SENDLOG, SWN_TIMESTAMPS are all empty in test client.
Please advise how to make report SWN_SELSEN back to work in test client. Thanks.
<< Additional information >>
(1) Run report SWN_SELSEN_TEST with test Case 5 - Simulate Send Only. After this, some entries were written to above tables. But test on new workflow item, the schedule report SWN_SELSEN still fail to trigger notification.
(2) Run report SWN_SELSEN_TEST with test Case 4 - Send One Message Only. It triggered notifications for all active workflow items and sent out several hundred emails including workflow item created in step 1. However, further test on new workflowitem, the schedule report SWN_SELSEN is still unable to trigger notification.
I think there may be something else missing, like the timestamp of delta. Please help.
Regards,
DonaldHello,
I've experienced a few cases where stopping SWN_SELSEN and then restarting it helped to fill up SWN_TIMESTAMPS with proper values. How does that table look after you run it?
What is SWN_SELSEN_TEST?
Chck in SLG1 to get an idea of why it's not working. You can also run SWN_SELSEN in the foreground and debug it to see exactly where and why it goes wrong. Also check ST22.

Solution Manager 4.0 client copy
Hi all,
We have installed solution manager 4.0 SP 12. We have also done a client copy from 001 to 100 in order to work exclusively in the client 100. I have also changed the client reference in RSADMINA table and the UME from 001 to 100. Finally, when I wanted to implement Solution Manager Diagnostics, I have run the "Setup Wizard" and it created automatically the RFC destination "WEBADMIN" but with client 001. I tried to check everywhere where the old client is still mentioned in both ABAP and Java parts, but no way. Could you tell me please if I forgot something to do after the client copy? Where can I change definitively the reference of the old client?
Thanks in advance for your action.
Regards,Did you use client 000 as your source client (001 as the user master)? You should not client copy from source 001 as of solman 4.0.

Client Copy between unicode system and non-unicode system
Hello,
we have to build up a new system for japan. It is planned to install a new 4.7Ext200 unicode system and then make a client copy from a non-unicode 4.7Ext200 (language= german, english) system to the unicode system. I don't think that this is possible way, but I can't find information regarding client copies from non-unicode to unicode. I would advice the project to convert the existing non-unicode system to unicode, make a system copy for the new system and then install japan languages. Any information, which can help me.
Regards,
AlexanderHi,
without conversion client copy is not possible

Parallel process Before Remote client copy
i m going to perform remote client copy from production to sandbox how to enable parallel processing before that .
and its is hugh client and i want to do it fast can i start it in Foreground and if yes what parameter i have to set to what value to do it in foregroundHi,
As far as i know there is no tcode where you can set parallel processing, you can just select remote cleit copy or local client copy this methods have parallel processing .

Which is better Remote Client Copy or Homogenous copy
Hi All
I have a task to synchronize the ECC Production server with devlopment server
For this I have two option :
1. Remote client copy from Production to Development
2. Implementing homogenous copy(oracle procedure) of production server and then remove the existing development server.
I want to know your expert view with which one should I go with, as I have seen many times that whenever I do remote client copy it gives error in test phase the following tables error. so I am not sure wherther I just go with clent copy or not.
What things should keep in mind before doing it before doing homogenous copy?
Thankx in Advance
Regards
Vinay PaulHi All
Is there any solution for below if I decide to go with Oracle Procedure of system copy. Because we have to provide this to one of our client as there production and Development server are out of Sink.
1. Retaining the development history
2. Retaining the transports history.
I came to know that the above thing is possible but I have no idea how.
Thankx in advance

Client copy using Client Export... Failed .. Need ur advice
Hi guiys how ru all doin...
I hope some one can help me oout in this issue.iam working on sap
4.6c, windows 2003 server, oracle9.2.0.
we need to take client copy from production client 300 to dev
server using client export method so I have performed client
copy using client export.these are the list of steps which i
performed but still am facing an error.
Checklists /prerequisites before doing client export :
Source client i.e. Client 300 should be locked for all users
except Administrator.
Ensure that NO Users are logged in both NCCSAPPRD and NCCSAPDEV
Server.
Inform Downtime to Users.
At least 2 background work process should be there.
Take Offline Backup of both Production server & Development
server.
Following Jobs rescheduled for next day for Client Export
Process:
1)Collector_for_performance_monitor
2)Customer_evaluati on_information
3)Error reporting
4)Eu_out
5)Vendor_evaluation_information
6)Leave_en titlement
Remove scheduled job from DB:
1)Check opt
2)Analyze tab
Lock all users except administrator
Change database mode from Archive to Non-Archive mode
Logon in NCCSAPPRD in Client 300 the one which is to be Exported
1.Enter Transaction SCC8
2.Select the copy profile and target system NCCSAPDEV Server and
other fields as necessary.
3.Click on "Execute in Background" button.
4.Click on the "Schedule job" button.
5.Verify that all information is correct and click on YES
button.
6.Click on continue at the "Info Client Export" window.
7.Specify the start time and click on SAVE.
8.Specify an output device at the "Background print parameters"
window and click on SAVE.
9.Click on OK at the information window.
Monitor the Client copy using transaction SCC3.
when am going to transaction scc3 in that ->All transport
requests ->Exports -> in that my source client 300 is there when
am double clicking it its showing me list of how many times
client export has been performed in that my date is also there
when iam double clicking it and going to details tab this is wat

Best regardsThe problem you have is, that your TEMP tablespace is too small on the target system, you need to increase it.

SAP* not authorized after Client copy
Dear All,
Here's the scenario:
1. Created a new logical system for a new Quality client 230.
2. Created the new client 220
3. scheduled a test remote client copy from the new client, source Production. (Successful)
4. Scheduled the actual client copy to run last night.
5. Today morning, I'm logging into the new client with SAP*, it prompted me to change password.
6. I want to look for the client copy logs (SCC3), but getting "not authorized"
7. Checked all other transactions, all giving "not authorized" error
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.Dear Reza,
Better to go for Client Export Import process . This is what SAP reccomends for coping clients between
different systems ( Like from Production to Quality ) as the remote client copy has many
disadvantages..
For this 1 ) you should get the downtime of production system and do the client export process .
SCC8 . See the logs at scc3 .
2) Copy the datafile and cofile to the Source system
3) Import it usting stms_import .
Monitor the logs as the logs will be grown massive and make sure enough space is there.
4) After client copy , go for post processing ( scc7 ) .
Hope you are clear and feel free to get back if any doubts.
Regards,
Nibu
