Where can I find it or is there an newer tutorial with active links?

    Hi,
Maybe Johannes Hamel knows where to find it. But according to this (https://forums.sdn.sap.com/profile.jspa?userID=563619&start=0) , he isn't much active on SDN. Therefore I would suggest to send a mail to [email protected]

  • System Copy SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 documentation incorrect

I am trying to a Homogeneous System Copy on PI 7.1 SP07.  I don't want to do a
Copying the Primary Application Server Instance Only
Because (as the documentation says) "As of SAP NetWeaver based on kernel 7.1, you can copy a primary application server instance only. With this procedure you can move a primary application server instance to a different host within your system."
I don't want to move my system to another system.  I just want to do a Database refresh. That option is not available when I run SAPINST.
I see the option for database refresh in the manual, but it's not a sapinst selection
6.3Copying the Database Only u2013 Refresh
With this procedure you can refresh the content of an existing database without having to copy the primary application server instance and to reinstall additional applications servers.
I'm using the latest SAPINST and I have the correct DVD from Service Marketplace.
This database refresh option appears in both the "distributed system" selection under system copy --> target --> distribute system.
"SAP NetWeaver Process Integration -> Software Life-Cycle Options --> System Copy -->  Target System --> Distributed System --> Based on AS ABAP and AS Java --> Database Refresh or Move".
Is that the correct choice?  Why is the documentation wrong?
"SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1 including Enhancement Package" and "System Copy for SAP NetWeaver Process Integration 7.1".  So it must be correct (I think).
I do see the database refresh option under the "

Thanks for the reply.  So I would do this:
"Copying the Primary Application Server Instance Only
Because (as the documentation says) "As of SAP NetWeaver based on kernel 7.1, you can copy a primary application server instance only. With this procedure you can move a primary application server instance to a different host within your system."
and then do the "database refresh" option under "distributed systems"?
    Is that correct?

  • Oracle Client for SAP NetWeaver 7

I am pretty new in this area and wondering whether a new installation of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Central Instance on Linux needs Oracle RDBMS 10g Client from SAP or it can be obtained from Oracle (Instantclient)?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The instantclient from Oracle and from SAP are the same (note, only the instantclient, 10g, no other previous oracle client version)

If you do not have the file OCL10264.SAR, then you can download the file from SAP, no need to download it from Oracle (why that need of downloading from Oracle?)
You can take a look at your installation CDs, the file is also located there. No need to download it from anywhere.
Recommendation, unless for an explicity reason (like a note indicating it or a message with the same indication) do not download/install anything that is not available in an SAP website

  • Client Copy (SAP 4.5B AIX-Oracle to W2003-SQL)

Hi! We have to extract a client from a SAP 4.5B running over AIX 5.2 & Oracle 9.2.0.5 where there are also 5 client besides.
In this way, we are thinking about configuring a new eventual machine SAP 4.5B with AIX&Oracle, install it in the same transport layer and make a copy of the client that we need.
After that, we'll make the heterogeneous copy of this new system with our only client between this machine and the final one with Windows 2003 Server & SQL Enterprise.
I just wondered if anyone knew of these issues and if there's any incongruity in the planning.
Any documentation or information regarding this issues would also be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
I believe you are using 4.7 Ext set 1. you have to use R/3 Enterprise 4.7 Ext 2 Inst master DVD for CI installation. (we did a fresh installation 4.7x110 on 10g/windows with ext set 2 dvd after facing same kind of problem.. but as you're doing a het system copy.. its bit different...)
as per note - 896475 it only refers to DB installation part regards to 10g - The direct installation for R/3 Enterprise 4.7 Ext 1 is possible with the Installation Master DVD of R/3 Enterprise 4.7 Ext 2 SR1.

  • Client Copy in BI 7.0 and ERP 6.0

    Hi
I have done a system copy of both the BI system and it's source ERP system and am following the post copy steps to ensure that the connectivity between the two is maintained.  However before I run BDLS to change the logical system names I would like to change the client numbers on both the BW and ERP client.  Does anyone know what the implications of doing a client copy in both systems is and then running BDLS for these logical system names?  Has anyone tried this and was it successful?  Can you do a successful client copy of BI?

  • R/3 Client Copy : Problem in BI.

    Hi All,
Our Basis team have done the R/3 production copy to R/3 quality recently. These has created the problem in my BI development system.
We have a working BI development system which is connected to R/3 Quality as well as R/3 development and all standard data sources were succesfully implemented in BI dev from R/3 Quality previously.
After this Client coply i could not able to see any data source related to R/3 quality in my BI Dev system.
I have checked the RFC connection and it is OK.
I have checked the R/3 Quality also. All my CMOD routines have been removed.
I could not able to see data sources in RSA6 also.
As per my understanding this should not happen after client copy.
I do not want to retrasport all the tasks from R/3 dev to R/3 quality again.
    Please suggest .
    Regards,
    Macwan James.

    Hi,
Once you copy/refresh the R/3 Qty with R/3 Prod you loose all Transports and settings, you need to re-import the TRs from R/3 Dev to R/3 Qty. Before that you need to set all settings between BW qty and r/3 qty.

Furthermore I need guidance concerning the rest of the basic setup as well. The actual Netweaver/BI-system is installed. Now the client needs to be created and furthermore settings for RFC etc. needs to be done.
Does anyone have a good description for this?

    hi FC,
try to set the active client ?
    se16, table RSADMIN, field BWMANDT = 1 e.g
following is bit old oss note, valid for bw 3.x, not sure for nw2004s
Copying productive client 000 in the BW System
    SAP Note Number: 116432
    Symptom
BW is being productively operated in client 000 and is to be moved into
    another client.
    Additional key words
    Cause and prerequisites
    Solution
The copy of the productive client 000 is executed in several steps:
    a) Locking the system
During the copy procedure, production in client 000 must not be
       active.
Restart the BW System and lock it so that no logon can take place,
the same way as for an upgrade.
    b) Maintenance of table T000
       -   Note the entry of 'logical System' for client 000.
        -   Delete the entry 'logical System' for the client 000. When
saving, the warning which results from this can be ignored.
        -   Now create the new BW production client.
Enter the exact contents that you previously deleted from client
000 in the 'logical System' field.
           Save the entry.
    c) Check of tablespace PSAPCLUD (depending on database)
Please check the number of records of table EDI40 using transaction
      SE16.
Afterwards determine the freespace in tablespace PSAPCLUD using
       transaction DB02.
Increase tablespace PSAPCLUD so that table EDI40 may be copied.
    d) Client copy
        -  Log on to the target client as user SAP*
       -   Go to the client copy via either transaction SCCL or via
            Tools -> Administration -> Administration ->
Client Administration -> Client copy -> Local copy
           Use the profile "SAP_ALL".
Make sure that all entries are active in the profile in the area
           'Data selection' und 'Copy mode'.
(only then are number range counters copied)
        -   Choose in each case client 000 as 'source client' and as 'source
          client for user master record'.
        -   Now start the copy procedure in the background.
After completion of the copy procedure:
    e) Set the production client
Enter the chosen production client in the instance profile or
DEFAULT.PFL as logon client. Maintain the parameter
                           login/system_client
       for this.
Once production has been initiated, the client may not be altered
       any further.
    In all OLTP systems:
    f) Maintain the RFC connection in the OLTP systems
Logon to all connected OLTP systems  and maintain the RFC connection
        to the BW system.
For this purpose choose transaction SM59; expand the section
'R/3 connections'. Below you'll find a destination named
                             <SID>CLNT<client>
where <SID> is the name of the BW system and <client> is your
old production client in the BW system.
       Choose 'Change' for maintenance.
Replace 'Client' by the new production client; save the entry.
Check the connection using 'Test connection' and 'Remote login'.
    In BW system only:
    g) Unlock and restart your system.

  • Client Copy on SAP NetWeaver ABAP Trial

    Hi all,
I've installed the ABAP trial from SDN and it works fine. In my leisure time I want to get some basis know-how. I bought the great book from Frank Föse, Sigrid Hagemann and Liane will about the system administration of an ABAP system. Now I want to try the client copy, which is described in chapter 5.2.
I have already created a new client with TCode SCC4. Now I want to copy client 001 to client 100, there I should login to client 100. I tried it with user SAP* and password minisap and password PASS as well, but it doesn't work. Isn't it possible to copy clients in the trial?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best Regards
    Marcel

    Hi Marcel,
1 In an empty client there are no user master records. To be able to log on you have to set login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0 and restart the instance. That will activate the built-in user sap. In your other clients sap probabely has a user master record and will exist regardless of the parameter setting.
2 The windows share I mentioned is not a subdirectory but a network share. Go to D:\sap in windows explorer, rightclick and select sharing. Share the folder as "sapmnt".
3 You can edit the instance profile file with a text editor to add the login/no_automatic_user_sapstar parameter. If your installation is in D:\sap the path will be:
    D:\sap\ SID \SYS\profile\ .
The name of the file you need starts with that SID again. For some reason unknown to me the parameter did not work when it was appended to the file but did when put in the middle.

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version - You can only work in client 001

    Hi BI Experts,
I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.01 ABAP Trial Version and I could successfully login into the system.
When I run RSA1 Tcode I am getting error message You can only work in client 001. Can some please advice.
    I appreciate all your input.

    Hi,
Since BI tables are cross-client, BI can work only in one client. By default BI is configured for client 001.
If you want it in different client, you change it in BWMANDT field of RSADMINA table.
    hope it helps.

  • SAP* not authorized after Client copy

    Dear All,
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Created a new logical system for a new Quality client 230.
    2. Created the new client 220
    3. scheduled a test remote client copy from the new client, source Production. (Successful)
    4. Scheduled the actual client copy to run last night.
    5. Today morning, I'm logging into the new client with SAP*, it prompted me to change password.
    6. I want to look for the client copy logs (SCC3), but getting "not authorized"
    7. Checked all other transactions, all giving "not authorized" error
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Dear Reza,
Better to go for Client Export Import process . This is what SAP reccomends for coping clients  between
different systems ( Like from Production to Quality ) as the remote client copy has many
    disadvantages..
For this 1 ) you should get the downtime of production system and do the client export process .
    SCC8 . See the logs at scc3 .
    2) Copy the datafile and cofile to the Source system
    3) Import it usting stms_import .
Monitor the logs as the logs will be grown massive and make sure enough space is there.
    4) After client copy , go for post processing ( scc7 ) .
Hope you are clear and feel free to get back if any doubts.

  • Additional SAP-MI environment via client copy

Hi there. We need to set up an additional SAP-MI environment for UAT (User acceptance test). Can this be done by creating a new client (and using client copy
function) within the existing MI instance?
If so, what are the implications to J2EE engine? Could we use existing
Java stack and just create new JCo connections? Or would we need a new
    Java stack? (Standalone or Add-in?).
Also, what are the implications to the back-end R/3 system (if any)?
    Used versions:
    SAP MI 2.5, SP18
    Oracle 9.2.0.6
    AIX 5.3
    Thanks in advance,
    Benjamin de Rijke

    Hi Benjamin,
As per my understanding as of now MI is not available in SIT system.Once MI is avaliable in SIT system, we need to move all the development objects into SIT system from DEV system.
There is an option of transporting all the objects from one system to other(in the same release NWO4 or NWO4S)(If all the development objects like tables, syncbos, bapis etc are stored in a package in DEV system..that package can be transported to SIT system..i am not sure how far it is going to be feasible..but for sure this is a good option you can try...then all the development objects will be present in SIT system and then we can deploy the application and test it)
Other wise if this transport is not possible then we need to re-create all the tables(objects) etc in SIT system same as in DEV system.
We can connect to multiple backend to one MI client..this should be possible.
Hope this is helpful to some extent
    Cheers,
    Karthick
