  • Script to disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks

Hi, I am trying to find a way of using a batch file or vbscript to disable Client for Microsoft Networks and File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks on a Network Interface Controller.
I've done some searching on the internet and I can see some suggestions to locate the Setting ID of the NIC and then remove the value from the "Bind" string under "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Linkage" and "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Linkage"
I tried this but it didn't seem to uncheck itself from the NIC properties under NCPA.cpl
    Can someone help me?

  • Second Life and the Macbook Pro

I got my macbook pro in September and I am now trying to run second life. While it does run, the frame rate is awful. Its not as if the graphics (even when turned up to the highest setting) should be taxing the graphics card.
Anyone else having problems with this.
    thanks in advance
    David

    Hi there,
I'm running SL in a nearly full screen window on my MacBook Pro 17 and I find the fans ramp up almost immediately after I log in. SL runs pretty slow for me compared to my MacPro tower unit. I believe the graphics IS getting taxed considerably when in-world.
Do your frame rates improve when you reduce the size of the viewer window? If so.. I suspect video running outta steam..
In addition, I too have experienced the hard shutdown issue described by Crystal above when using my MacPro tower, even with 512MB video card. It happened literally dozens of times before I figured out that the graphics card was covered with dust and overheating while zooming a fast car around the Mooz racetrack, for example. Blew that bad boy off and no more screwy vid issues and best of all.. no hard lockups since.
This notebook has 256MB of video ram.. I really notice the difference between the two computers.
As an aside.. I have run SL on a Dual 1.25Ghz G4 thats got a 128MB video card in it. SL is miserable on that machine. It's much better if I run SL in a squinchy little window, but even then its a newbie bumping into stuff and extended times waiting for grey things to rezz..
Don't get me started about the spinning beachball......
If you use the windlight viewer these afore mentioned problems are amplified in my opinion. I think ya gotta have cubic video ram to be a happy camper on SL, no pun intended.
    Hope this sheds some light..
    Cheers, Malcolm
PS: Looking for an SL 'Think Different' T-shirt.. I can be found at Mooz often..

  • Using the same client for both regfree and out-of-proc COM

    Hi,
    Here is the context:
    1. We have the same set of COM objects that can be deployed as in-proc COM servers (dlls) or out-of-proc COM servers (exe).  In-proc servers are called through regfree COM.
    2. We have test projects that use the in-proc COM servers through regfree COM.
I would like to use the same test client projects for both regfree and out-of-proc COM servers (but not at the same time). For example, I would like to first run the client using regfree COM, then delete the in-proc dll and register the out-of-proc com server,
and then run the client again without having to recompile.  But I have not found a way to do this.
Instead, what I have to do is modify the project settings of the test client project, removing the regfree stuff (the manifest dependencies) before I can use the test client project with the out-of-proc server.
Is there a way to do this without recompiling?
FYI, I have tried regfree COM by changing the client project's Project->Properties->Linker->Manifest file->Additional Manifest Dependencies, or by changing the client project's Project->Properties->Manifest Tool->Input and Output->Additional
Manifest Files.  Either way works with regfree COM.  And either way I have to remove those settings before making it work with out-of-proc COM (and hence recompiling, which is what I am trying to avoid).
    Thanks,
    Nick

Try Manifest Tool > Input and Output > Embed Manifest = No, and change Linker > Manifest File > Manifest File to drop ".intermediate" in the middle (or just rename the file after the build).
A manifest doesn't have to be embedded into the executable, it could be a standalone file named like ApplicationName.exe.manifest and sitting in the same directory next to the .EXE. Then you can simply delete or rename it back and forth to switch between
    registered and reg-free COM.

  • ITS 6.2 on Netweaver 04 for ESS Life and events

    Hi
ERP 2004 webdynpro bus package does not support the life and events for ESS. So I got to use teh ITS version for this one. I see that none of the ITS services PZML_01, PZML_02 are published to ITS. Also the recommended version is a standalone ITS 6.2. Have anyone successfully able to run life and events ITS iviews by doing like this against a ECC5? How did you publish the ITS services? Did you guysinstalled another standalone ITS 6.2 in addition to the integrated ITS 6.4? Please help

  • Thin clients for both Tarantella and Citrix

What thin clients out there (hardware) supports Tarantella over the
    internet?
Currently many of the users in my organization have a laptop at home and a
thin client at work. The laptop could be removed now, after having
    installed Tarantella.
Wyse doesn't seem to support both Tarantella and Citrix - who does?
Any pointers welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • Client for the mac, and more

hi all i am willing to write code, and create a tool that runs on the same server as the cal. this code would get the data and convert it to ical format, which would then sync up with all the clients out there.
the company i work for is interested in getting sun cal server for about 7000 users, but we cant do that unless there is a client that will talk to it directly, outlook is not an option.
if any of you know of a client out there, (with the exceptiopn of glow) please let me know. i will try to help that project out, or perhaps just create that ical script that runs every time i log in via my ical client......
    ideas ????

I am currently using this to subscribe to my server calendar.
    http://www.earlham.edu/~littejo/software/icald.shtml
It seems to work well for me but I think there is always room for improvement.
If you read the pod doc it lists some issues that exist between the two technologies. (WCAP vs iCal subscribe and publish)
I think it may be a good starting point for you.

  • HT1414 My 5s iphone after an update for itunes can now no longer be recognised? by the itunes site on my laptop?, The support page says my phone number is incorrect for phone support and the email chat line doesnt send my message. nightmare!

Whilst trying to find an answer from the apple support pages i'm finding lifes a misery. Itunes was sync before the update and all was well. How can i get my phone sync up properly again, Thanks Apple!

There are a lot of discussions about this on the iTunes forum.

  • This is **.  I stayed up to order my kids new 6's.  I have done nothing all night but get ECPD errors.  I have been on hold for 40 min and no live chat is available.  Nice job Verizon.

    Seriously?

I went onto the apple store app, it at least let me reserve an iPhone and will send an email when apple can talk to Verizon to finalize the order. It's not a perfect solution but at least it's something that I have one reserved! Worked on the website for over an hour and because I get 25% off my calling plan through my company I kept getting an error.

  • Something On My Mac is Blocking WoW, Second life, and other such games

I can't figure it out. There's some program on my Mac that's blocking the game's ability to go online. I uninstalled Norton (with a full norton remover) and it has no processes running, my Mac firewall allows all connections...I just cant figure it out. Here's my list of processes. When I run VMWare Windows, the things work well, but being games, it works slowly. It has to be something Mac.

  • USB Headsets & voice chat in Second Life

I am curious if anyone else has attempted to try out the voice chat in the Second Life (v1.16) preview. I know this is a beta version and it may be a matter of things simply not working yet.
First of all, here are my hardware settings:
    • Power Macintosh G5 - 1.8 GHz, 160 GB HD (70 GB free), 2GB RAM
    • Logitech 250 USB headset
I have had the headset connected to all of the USB ports on the front and back of the G5, both ports on the keyboard and through a powered USB 2.0 hub with no change in performance or results. The headset works in Skype and GarageBand with no problems.
    Here's the issue...
When attempting to use voice chat in Second Life, I have only been able to successfully talk with other users on one occasion. Most other times, I either have no response from the mic, or no audio in the headphones.
This does not happen until I am running Second Life and attempt to enable voice chat, but the effect is system-wide once it happens.
I suspect it is a problem with the preview version of Second Life and or its voice system but I would appreciate any thoughts anybody might have.
    Thanks!

Issue is more widespread than originally thought. Re-posting in proper venue with more specifics.

  • Voice Chat for Starcraft 2?

Anyone else having difficulties with their sound on a MBP release date 2011 and ingame voice chat in Starcraft 2?
    If so, any solutions?
    Thanks.

That's exactly what i am talking about. Your IP address is private. Means, it is not routable outside your organization. Means, that you cannot receive anything from outside, because technically this private address does not exist outside your network.
However, you might be able to send audio to someone outside who has public IP address (PLEASE, read up about private and public IPv4 addresses and NAT in order to understand what your problem is. Just one Wiki page that you can dig up in Google.com).
Now you simply cannot use your chat from inside your organization to chat with outside people. It will not work. You need public IP addresses in both ends (i.e. you and remote party) + firewall rules must allow UDP traffic for certain ports, that your program uses.
If you want to overcome private addressing problem manually, i dont know how to do it. But what i know for sure is that it would be painful. My application that i made uses a VoIP server (SIP server and an RTP proxy server). These servers do private address handling (NAT handling) for my audio/video streams.
You have an option though. Go to your network admin and lick his/her brain. Ask for a public IP address (they might have some in reserve). Do the same thing at the remote end.

It looks like there is a similar issue over here (http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5906-task-sequence-error-0xffffffff/) that was resolved by removing the Application Installations one by one until a problematic one was found
and removed - however I would rather avoid this very time consuming process if possible.
I have also testing this using 'capture media' in the full OS and that also fails at the same step with the same errors in the smsts.log
The only workaround I have for now is to let the task sequence fail at the 'Prepare ConfigMgr Client for Capture' step, then I uninstall the SCCM client using 'ccmsetup.exe /uninstall' and use the 'capture media' method - obviously with no SCCM client installed,
it skips the 'Prepare ConfigMgr Client for Capture' step and goes straight to the 'Prepare OS' step and then to the actual capture to the WIM step.
Anybody else seeing this or have any suggestions?

You dont have to test it 18 times....
Just test with 50% of the applications first, if it fails, test with 25% and then on of the time...
You should be able to find the application, within 4-5 tests...
