Client for the mac, and more
hi all i am willing to write code, and create a tool that runs on the same server as the cal. this code would get the data and convert it to ical format, which would then sync up with all the clients out there.
the company i work for is interested in getting sun cal server for about 7000 users, but we cant do that unless there is a client that will talk to it directly, outlook is not an option.
if any of you know of a client out there, (with the exceptiopn of glow) please let me know. i will try to help that project out, or perhaps just create that ical script that runs every time i log in via my ical client......

It seems to work well for me but I think there is always room for improvement.
If you read the pod doc it lists some issues that exist between the two technologies. (WCAP vs iCal subscribe and publish)

That because the activation servers were retired. Now for the good news:
Adobe has provided a non-activation version of Photoshop CS2 free of charge for their CS2 license holders.
Download the Mac version of Photoshop (not the suite) and copy down the serial number next to it. Do not use your original serial number or cs2 disc.
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
Uh... one more thing CS2 is PPC only. OSX 10.6.8 has Rosetta to run legacy PPC products. 10.7 and above will not.

My iPad says when i try to download a movie that i don't have enough memory, but when I check I have plenty for the movie and more. What can I do? Also, I can't completely sync to iTunes, when i try it waits at waiting for items to copy forever.
Delete some stuff to make room on the device.

Random crash leaves me without a phone for the evening and more...
I've had no major problems (just minor annoyances) with the iPhone, since buying it the day it was released, until last night. I went out to the bar and was showing off the phone to some friends (surfing the web and YouTube videos) when, with just my luck, the phone resets (not the typical crash to the home screen I’ve seen). After the phone reset and began to power back on the screen said "Please Connect to iTunes." I thought this was strange as I had a fully charged battery before going out and figured that I could probably just reset the phone again to get past this. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. At this point there was nothing I could do to get my phone working again as I'd lost ALL functionality of my device (except stylish paper weight). I thought this is just plain ridiculous as now I’m going to be stuck without a phone for the rest of the night hoping no emergency comes up where I’m going to need it (thankfully the rest of the night was to the most part uneventful). I’ve never had something like this happen, that is where I can’t use the device, to any of the previous half-dozen or so phones I’ve owned. But that was that and there was nothing I could do until I got home several hours later.
After finally arriving home I quickly connected the phone to iTunes which of course began the restore process. For the most part the process went fairly smooth but did take some time (about 10 minutes with all the verifying/restoring). During the process iTunes recognized my last backup, applied that to my phone, and reactivated the phone with AT&T. Everything was quite painless until finding out that iTunes doesn't quite back up everything which I've now found out and included a list of everything lost:
... Photos from my Camera Roll (this is the worst, lesson learned)
... Wi-Fi known networks and their passwords
... Mail account passwords
... Mail account messages (all messages had to be downloaded again)
... Calendar events that were recurring now appear twice
... All music/videos/photos had to be resynchronized
I'm still a little shocked that the phone can crash to this degree, at anytime, where you'll lose complete functionality of the device until you connect to iTunes. I mean come on what is not functioning properly that won’t allow me to restart/reset the phone? Good thing I wasn’t on Vacation or else I would’ve been totally screwed for the trip. Also, this was a lesson learned for me to backup my Camera Roll photos as I just never really thought about it before. Everything else lost was just an inconvenience in having to manually add passwords back, read/delete mail messages again, and delete duplicate recurring calendar events.
I just wanted to share my bad experience and hopefully Apple will continue to improve this device whereas it doesn't become completely useless for the evening. I still love my phone and this is by far the most trouble I’ve had with it.Yeah, it would be nice if the backup contained a little more well backup. The Camera Roll photos should be synced or at least have an option to do so. Mail messages and passwords can't take up that much space and could easily be encrypted (again have an option to not back up if so desired). As for the duplicate calendar events I think it's just flaky with using Outlook to begin with.

What is best DVD converter for the Mac and iPod
Would like to convert all of my kids DVD movies to my Mac for play on AppleTV and iPods/iPads. What is the best software for doinng this. I am willing to pay up to $50 for the software as I would like a high quality and fast, fast, fast conversion rate.
If you have an Apple computer, you can get a software called "Video Converter Ultimate" from the Apps store. It works well. It is available for both Windows and Mac. It is a free download.

PSE6 for the Mac and a Snow Leopard question.....
Hi- I am beta testing Snow Leopard and would like to test my PSE6 app in Snow Leopard but I am having an issue with what I need to copy over from the working version in Leopard over to Snow Leopard. Just dragging the folder is not enough since I get a message saying something like it's not authorized- sorry I can't remember the exact wording but I am hoping someone can tell me what files I need to copy over to SL. Thanks! Judy
For any time, any version of OS X you must totally reinstall PSE rather than moving it. The PSE installer puts things in far too many locations for the migration assistant to find them all and many are at a system level where only Root could move them. Far easier just to run the installer again.

My phone will not allow me to connect to my computer. It asks me repeatedly if I "trust" the computer and I tap trust each time; and nothing. I did upgrade the computer to Snow Leopard yesterday and was able to connect the Ipad mini, but not the phone.
I finally was able to solve my problem. I'm not sure why it happened but after updating my iPad to the most recent iOS, it works just fine. I had iOS 8 before, but it was the first release, not the update. I have the latest iTunes on my computer so maybe they weren't compatible. Anyway, if anyone else is having this problem, make sure everything is up to date.

I have had my mac for about a 1 year 5 months, coming onto 6 months. And I want to keep it running in top shape, or as close as it can get. I Am just wondering what is are good softwares for defragmenting a Macbook and what are the price ranges, and what are the recommendations. Which would you rate from best to worst in other words.
First Mac OS X doesn't need defragged. If your harddrive is ~80% full heavy downloading could hurt disk performance but I'd say you're in the clear. If Apple considered defragging a necessity they would have included it into Disk Utility.

Hi I have just received Mac OS X Snow leopard but when I tried to install it i couldn't as I have forgotten the password for the mac and I can't find the disk for OS X 10.5.8 its running on. Is there any way to install the new software without both of these?
you can reset your password. restart, and hold down Command-s before the apple logo appears (when the screen is white). you will see scrolling scripts until you see something like "root:" then type /sbin/mount -uw / to mount the disk. after that, type sudo passwd admin or whatever your admin password is. type in the new password two times. it doesn't show what you typed when you type the password so make sure you are pressing the right keys. after you done that, type exit to start up the computer. now you will be able to login with the new password.

Can someone help explain how to add an external HD to the Mac? I have a Western Digital My Passport SE and need to configure if for the MAC and add it to the HD location on my Mac.
Connect the external drive to the Mac. You can do that while the Mac is on, (If the drive is one that has to be plugged into a wall outlet do that too and turn the power on.) If there is a light on the drive it should turn on.
Now double click on the hard drive icon - top left of the screen of your computer. When it opens look for the Applications folder. Double click that. Next look for a folder called Utilities. Double click. In there you will see a file called Disk Utility.app. Double click on that.
You will now see something like this, with two items on the left. The second one is your new drive.
Select it - one click. And click on Erase - one of the buttons at the top, You will see this.
You must select the Format, it's a drop down - the one shown in the image above is best. You can change the name from Untitled if you want. The name can be changed later if you prefer.
At this point look at the bottom right. There is a button there called Erase. Click on it. Then go get yourself a cup of coffee - this will take a few minutes. -
