Client Install Fails: Log: ClientIdManagerStartup - Server rejected registration request: 3

Trying to install the client onto Windows Server 2008 R2 Servers using ConfigMgr 2012R2. no PKI is being used. We do not see this issue on any workstations, only servers.
It returns the following:
Got registration response from MP. Client approval status: -1
[RegTask] - Server rejected registration request: 3 ClientIDManagerStartup
Actions taken based on other Articles:
1.Delete the c:\windows\smscfg.ini file
2)    Run CCMDELCERT on the client
3)    Restart the SMS agent Host service.
Result: FAILED, it comes back with the same errors.
MP_RegistrationManager.log shows:

Do the following to check the SMS self-signed certificates
Start MMC.exe
Add/Remove Snapin -> Select Certificates -> Select local computer
Locate the SMS folder
Find the SMS Signing certificate and SMS Encryption Cerrtificate - check if they have expired. If they have expired - delete them.
Retry client installation

  • Problem with one computer: [RegTask] - Server rejected registration request: 3

    Hi!
I having some problem with One of our clients, its mine :)
It does not register with the site
    ClientIDManagerStartup.log:
    MP_RegistrationManager.log
I have no idea why! I don't even use https and PKI. I have done a reinstalled the client by removing "C:\windows\SMSCFG.ini" and the SMS certificates before install but it still won't register. CCMSetup logs return successfull. Boundaries is setup
    correctly.
I have also tried to uninstall ccmagent and readded the computer object in SCCM and installed it through client push but still the same problem.
I really don't want to reinstall the whole computer as I have already installed lots of applications i don't know if that will work anyway, could try to run a sysprep maybe.
    Any ideas?
     Thanks!

if that is the error you need to look at your IIS & Webdav & SQL Configurations... you can take some help from below blogs to troubleshoot this

    Hi Jason
I was getting the same behavior after Apple support had me delete some plist files to get Airplay going. I was also getting the following error:
the error occurred while processing a command of type 'writesettings' in the plug-in 'server vpn'
I went into ~/Library/Preferences/ and /Library/Preferences/ and deleted every plist contating the word server. I had to re-set up my server (meaning walk through some intial steps) but all of my settings were still there after that and everything started working again.
Just a thought, obviously try at your own risk but it worked for me.

  • Half of clients report: MP has rejected registration request due to failure in client certificate

My entire site is configured to use HTTPS, about half my clients have installed and continue to communicate with the MP successfully whereas the other half are reporting the following error during installation:
MP has rejected registration request due to failure in client certificate (Subject Name: COMPUTER.DOMAIN.COM) chain validation. If this is a valid client, Configuration Manager Administrator needs to place the Root Certification Authority and Intermediate
Certificate Authorities in the MPÆs Certificate store or configure Trusted Root Certification Authorities in primary site settings. The operating system reported error 2148204809: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is
not trusted by the trust provider.
The thing is, ALL clients have the same Root Certification Authority and Intermediate Certificate Authorities, any thoughts?

    Hi,
Is possible that half of your clients are enrroll in your PKI infrastruture with a root certificate old of you Certificate authority and you only have one certifiacate register un the SCCM, you can't have 2 root certificate with the same subject but you
can re-enrroll all your client machine if have auto-enrroll configured by GPO's.
I will Attach 2 snapshot's that can help to identify if you root ca certificate in SCCM are correct and are the same that the certificate root authority in you client certificate, if you like re-enrroll all your machine to ensure that all clients machine
have the same root ca you can see how in this link

  • Site Code for SCCM Clients installed from Secondary Site Server

    Hello,
We have started the implementation of SCCM 2012 R2 at our network. We have setup a Primary site (JFO) server & pushed out the installation of SCCM clients to the local subnet. Things went fine.
We have installed a Secondary site (ATC) at a remote network. We have tested client installation in the installation wizard we specify to install the client from the Secondary server. When SCCM client installed from the Secondary server, the site
code that appears on the client in the control panel->Configuration Manager client settings is the site code of the primary site and not the secondary site.
    Is this behavior is normal

Ultimately, secondary sites do *not* manage clients and so will never be assigned to the secondary site. However, do note that resources in the console that represent systems that do not have the client agent may show the site code of the secondary site
if they fall within a boundary group associated with that secondary site. This is done so that client push can be initiated from the correct site. More gory details at http://blog.configmgrftw.com/secondary-sites-and-boundary-groups/

  • Client install fails with Error 0x87d00280 on ccmsetup log file

CAS and Primary Server are on Server 2012 R2, Clients are Win 7 and Server 2008 R2 in
same Domain. Primary Server has DP and MP installed, I can successfully install client from my Primary Server through Client Push Installation. I don't see any errors on SCCM Console.
On the client side I can see C:\Windows\ccmsetup\ccmsetup.exe is installed and the "ccmsetup"
Service is not in running status.
When I checked the ccmsetup log file, the latest error message says - Have already tried all
MPs, Couldn't find DP locations. Also another line says - The Certificate Selection Criteria was not specified. There are no Certificates in "MY" store.
Do I need to install self signed Certificate through MMC snap-ins, DNS issue or I am missing
    something, Please help!

is your MP set to https ? seems like its certificates issue. You can go through the documentation
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682023.aspx? on how to setup PKI in sccm 2012 to check if you have created certificates as needed .
    this might help you http://jackstromberg.com/2014/09/system-center-2012-r2-configuration-manager-ccmsetup-failed-with-error-code-0x87d00280/

  • Client Install Fails - Unable to get Win32_OperatingSystem object

I have a PC that won't install the SCCM client via Client Push.  In the CCM.Log file on the site server, it connects to the IPC$ and admin$ shares using my client installation account, but then it comes back with this error:
---> Unable to get Win32_OperatingSystem object from WMI on remote machine "PCNAME", error = 0x80080005.
I know that error means that access was denied to WMI, and I verified that when I run wbemtest manually (using the same client installation account), I can connect to the root\cimv2 object on that PC but when I try to enumerate the instances of the Win32_OperatingSystem object, I get the same error.
I also tried using Computer Management applet (remotely - I have no local access to this PC) to look at the WMI Control properties.  Again, I get the same access denied error so I can't check/change the security permissions that way.
I have verified that my client installation account is in the local Administrators group of the PC.  I've already tried rebuilding the WMI repository - that worked but it didn't fix the access issue.  I know I can install the client manually but I'm guessing I'd still have a problem with inventories, etc. that are dependent on access to that WMI object.  Any suggestions about how to go about fixing the WMI access issue?
    Thanks so much, --Jo

Finally getting back to this issue after vacaton... sigh.
I got a little further.  I took client push out of the mix and ran ccmsetup.exe locally on the PC.  This time the client installation ran.  However, I'm still getting a similar error from the client itself and the client is not talking to the site.  After the client was installed, only about 10 of the log files showed up in system32\ccm\logs.
    ccmexec.log shows this error:
Endpoint'PolicyAgent_PolicyEvaluator' return 0x80070057 from event notification
    PolicyAgentProvider.log has these lines repeating:
Failed to create actual config class for 'CCM_RootCACertificates'
Failed to update namespace 'Machine' (80041002)
    Successfully updated namespace 'DefaultMachine'
    Successfully updated namespace 'DefaultUser'
Failed to create actual config class for 'CCM_MulticastConfig'
Failed to update namespace 'Machine' (80041002)
    PolicyEvaluator.log has this error:
Received notification that Local policy has changed.
Failed to trigger Machine settings update (80070057)
    SrcUpdateManager has these errors:
Instance of CCM_SourceUpdateClientConfig doesn't exist in WMI
Failed to get instance of CCM_SourceUpdateHistory, error 80041002
    ClientIDManagerStartup.log has these errors:
    GetSystemEnclosureInfo failed (0x80080005)
    ComputeHardwareID failed (0x80080005).
RegTask: Failed to create registration request body. Error: 0x80080005
The rest of the logs that exist (LocationServices, StatusAgent, ClientLocation, RemCtrl, and setuppolicyevaluator) appear to be OK.
These seem to all be WMI-related errors/issues, but I can't find any specific information on any SCCM/SMS websites/forums that address these particular errors in these particular log files.  I've tried rebuilding the repository (several times), I've done the regsvr stuff as discussed above, etc.
I ran WMIDIAG next.  It ran for a little less than two hours - not sure if that's normal or not, but the log file continued to update the entire time.  Now I have this log file and I'm not sure what to do with the issues I found.  I'm looking at the WMI REPORT: BEGIN section...  I see instructions that make sense for most of the errors.  However, the section of log file below shows the area that is most likely causing issues for SCCM because it is the same error I get on the client install.  I have no idea how to fix this stuff - any help would be appreciated:

  • Adding RBS To 3-Tier Farm: Client Install Fails

    Hello Forums Folks:
Am running into two issues I cannot seem to get past though all indications are I am following steps and getting good results - to a point.   Please see the steps/results below, I would be appreciative if you could point out what the issues are.
I am following a couple of articles online to add BLOB feature into my SP2013 3-tier farm:
    1 WFE (CORDTESTWEB1), 1 DB/FILE (CORDTESTDB1) & 1 APP (CORDTESTSPAPP1).
Ran the FILESTREAM setup on SQL Server Config Manager - ran OK.
COMMANDS ON SQL SERVER ALL RAN TO COMPLETION
    use [WSS_Content]
    if not exists
    (select * from sys.symmetric_keys
    where name = N'##MS_DatabaseMasterKey##')
create master key encryption by password = N'Admin Key Password !2#4'
    use [WSS_Content]
    if not exists
    (select groupname from sysfilegroups
    where groupname=N'RBSFilestreamProvider')
    alter database [WSS_Content]
    add filegroup RBSFilestreamProvider contains filestream
    use [WSS_Content]
    alter database [WSS_Content]
add file (name = RBSFilestreamFile, filename =
    'C:\WSS_CONTENT_RBS')
    to filegroup RBSFilestreamProvider
INSTALL RBS CLIENT ON FIRST FARM WEBSERVER & DB SERVER
Command was run on server CORDTESTDB1 first, then onto first WFE server CORDTESTWEB1
    msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS.msi TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="MSSQLSERVER" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FileStreamStore
In both cases the log file showed the command run successfully and the program shows in Control Panel/Programs & Features.   But none of the tables were created on WSS_Content database.
INSTALL RBS CLIENT ON ALL OTHER WEB/APP SERVERS
Am waiting to get past first hurdle above before I run on add'l servers.
    msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i  RBS.msi DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="MSSQLSERVER" ADDLOCAL="Client,Docs,Maintainer,ServerScript,FilestreamClient,FilestreamServer"
ENABLE RBS FOR EACH CONTENT DB
    Run on WFE CORDTESTWEB1
    The two commands below worked
    $cdb = Get-SPContentDatabase WSS_Content
    $rbss = $cdb.RemoteBlobStorageSettings
    This command shows as Failed
    $rbss.Installed()
Did not proceed with these commands
    $rbss.Enable()
    $rbss.SetActiveProviderName($rbss.GetProviderNames()[0])
    $rbss
I confirmed that the domain admin account being used is listed as a Local Admin on each server.

UPDATE - I was able to get the RBS client installed on SQL Server 2012.   Saw an article online and did regular install of the RBS.msi (x64) client and then ran the command-line.  WSS_Content database now has the tables related to RBS (rbs_filestream_configuration,
    etc).
But looks like I am still getting nowhere - now I cannot install the RBS client successfully on the first webserver.
    Any ideas?

  • SCCM 2012 Client Install Failing ONLY on 8.1 Machines - Advice?

    Good morning,
I've got a rather interesting situation.  We have a SCCM 2012 site configured for https, the site server is acting as the MP and DP, and we are installing the client via the SCCM 2012 Client GPO.  Our cert is an InCommon cert.  We have 4000+
Windows 7 machines that are able to install the client.  We tested on a Window 8 machine and the client install works as well.  Whenever a Windows 8.1 machine tries to install it fails.  We have checked the boundaries (we can't specify IP ranges
since we don't manage the whole network).  I can manually browse to the source files on the MP/DP.  The switches we use when installing via the GPO are /usepkicert /mp:[redacted] CCMHTTPSSTATE=63 SMSSITECODE=[redacted] SMSCACHESIZE=12288.  However,
    it always fails with:

Anyone have any idea why this is happening only on 8.1 machines?  I can't think of where else to check.  Thanks for any help.

Okay, so I installed via the following:  ccmsetup.exe /usepkicert /source:C:\Client CCMHTTPSSTATE=63 SMSSITECODE=AHC SMSCACHESIZE=12288 and the client installed.  But you're right, the CCMMessaging.log is full of https errors.  I know it's
something with the cert and I've even requested new ones from the CA.  However, why what is it about 8.1 that is causing the issues?  Like I said, we have 4000 machines using the same client authentication cert and they work.  I've cut and paste
some of the log entries.  One thing to note is the \\[redacted]\sms_ahc\client\ccmsetup.exe in the beginning was using the internet FQDN.  Everything else is using the intranet location.  Does that provide any insight as to what is going
    on?

  • KMS client activation failed, but got server response?

I've been using KMS for several years. Generally there are no problems with KMS, but I have a single machine that is refusing to activate, and I cannot determine why. I've been doing extensive web searching but I'm not finding anything useful.
Windows 7 Pro client is using the Windows 7 Pro KMS client key GPDD4 as usual.
KMS Server is in Windows 2008 R2
The event log says the client is getting a response from KMS server (see below).

    ================================
Windows 7 Pro was installed on this machine using Microsoft's volume activation media, and is a standard image applied via Windows Deployment Services to some 200 other computers with no problems.
We also use a variety of surplus/off-lease machines, usually Dell brand, never with any activation problems.

It's a Dell Inspiron desktop. Apparently a "for the home" system? Yet it was bought with Win 7 Pro OEM installed, and so I had hoped I could roll it into the KMS easily. Tried updating the BIOS but still acts the same.
How can a "home edition" BIOS that's incompatible with KMS come with Win 7 Pro OEM?
Oddly, we have several Dell XPS systems that are using KMS just fine. Those are almost exclusively marketed as "power gamer" systems for home use. I should see if there's some way to figure out which specific Dell products do this so they can be avoided.
Fortunately it seems Windows 7 Pro edition software does not care if I use the OEM key from the sticker, so I typed that in and it activated.
(Great, one weird machine that has to be treated specially from everything else we've got.)
Probably a question for Dell to answer. For whatever reason, Dell have not performed all the necessary OEM Activation (OA) configuration tasks on this machine, perhaps due to their manufacturing/marketing strategy for this model, or perhaps due to a defective
configuration pass in the factory. Perhaps the mainboard in this machine was repaired or replaced at some stage, and wasn't correctly re-configured. Only Dell can resolve the missing marker, since it requires OEM tools.
Activating using the COA sticker product key, doesn't depend on the marker being present.

  • Client install fails during OSD

    Hi,
OS Deployment usually works without any issues for us. Sometimes (like 1 out of 15 deployments) the SCCM client will not install correctly and the system will boot up without any applications. That's okay, we just restart it and it works on the second attempt.
Lately however, I discovered an issue with a certain model (Lenovo R500): The SCCM client configuration now fails every time (tried four times in a row!). It wasn't that bad before...
Here are some answers to questions some of you might probably consider asking. :)
    - We are using diskpart /clean at the start of every task sequence
    - The system is domain joined before the SCCM client install step
    - Jason Sandys ConfigMgrStartup Script (client health GPO) is active
    - Client push install is active
    - The BIOS is up to date
    - These are our setup parameters during OSD: SMSMP=*FQDN* CCMEVALHOUR=12 PATCH="\\*FQDN*\hotfixes\configmgr2012ac-r2-kb3026739-x64.msp"
    - I tried installing newer network card drivers during the OSD in case the old drivers suddenly can't handle it any more but that also didn't improve the situation
I thought maybe the GPO or the client push are interfering with the setup while running the OSD, but that also happens if the GPO is disabled. Also, the client push install never interfered with the OSD before and I don't think that it suddenly would.
I zipped and uploaded the ccmsetup.log and client.msi.log to OneDrive, I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look at the logfiles and identify any potential issue that I'm not seeing.
    Logfiles: http://1drv.ms/18FTcAH
    Thank you!

I just found a solution thanks to another fellow forum member that suggested I make sure that "Client Push" was not enabled.  I too was experiencing intermittent failures in OSD at the "Setup Windows and ConfigMgr" step that did
    not make any sense.
After a review of the ccmsetup logs on the OSD machine and ccm.log on the server I was able to see that "Client Push" was beating the TS to installing the client by 4 seconds causing the TS to fail.
Torsten indicated that Client Push and OSD can be problematic.
    OSD Client Patch fails intermittently
After reviewing your ccmsetup.log I see the same evidence at time stamp 11:40:50 that I saw in my logs indicating that ccmsetup was already running when the TS went to install the client.

    Hi pfitchie,
I unmarked my reply as answer, it happened again and after reading your thread and this reply it all makes sense. I now disabled the Clientpush and will see what happens. Is there a possibility this is only happening if you apply CU4 during the OSD? It never
    happened before.

  • Common components install fails for Essbase Server in a distributed environment.

Hello all, I am trying to install essbase server(V 11.1.2.3) on Red hat Linux 6, 64 bit. Have already installed Foundation Services on Windows 2008. Nothing has been configured yet. On the Linux install, the install of the common components fails. I have looked around in the forums and also in Oracle Support(Doc ID 1360561.1) and looks like it is a known issue. There is discussion that this is because of a few rpm's missing on the linux server. However I could not find a definite answer as to what exact package it was or if it actually is a rpm issue in the first place. Could someone please throw light on what exactly is causing the issue and what exact package is required. Thanks.

  • Cisco VPN client install fails with Error 1722 on Windows 7

    Hi,
I am having issues with laptops upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.
Prior to the upgrade they are running Cisco VPN Client 5.0.05.0290.  These laptops also have Juniper Network Connect 6.5 and Citrix web client installed.  The windows upgrade advisor made no recommendations regarding uninstalling / reinstalling these apps.
I have done an inplace upgade to Windows 7 (Windows Vista Enterprise 32bit to Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit) and after the install the Cisco client is not working.  Uninstalled the client (the uninstall was successful) then reinstalled and the installation fails at Installing Cisco Systems Virtual Adapter - error 1722 there was a problem with the windows installer package.
I have followed the steps for a manual uninstall of the Cisco client and then tried the install again - still not successful.  Interestingly (or not) the Juniper Network Connect also fails with the error The Network Connect Virtual adapter driver is not installed properly.  This also fails to reinstall after being removed.
I tried removing the VPN clients on another laptop and then running the upgrade but the same errors occured when reinstalling the VPN Client.  I have tried the Winfix and DNE patch from Citrix but these fail saying there is a corruption in the application.
On another laptop where only the Cisco VPN client was installed a reinstall was required after the upgrade, but it did install successfully.
On a clean image these applications all install fine, however I have a large number of laptops do upgrade and don't want to do a fresh install and settings migration on all of them.
What files / registry entrys are involved with the DNE adapter so I can manually clear it all out before reinstalling?
Anything else I can do to troubleshoot this issue?
    Cheers,
    James

You should be able to install the 64 bit version of the Cisco VPN software
    Latest version is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe
You should download and run MCPR.exe first, to clean out any traces of McAfee products that conflict with Cisco VPN.
    http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe
If there is a problem with vbscript registration on the system - there is a fixit tool from Microsoft for that:
    MicrosoftFixit50842.msi
(Using Shrew VPN is a possible workaround.)

  • ProClarity 6.3 PAS install fails on Windows Server 2012

We are trying to install PAS 6.3 on Windows Server 2012 and the install fails with the following error
    The following requirements are missing:
    Windows Server 2003 SP1
We have successfully installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, so it really isn't a Windows Server 2003 SP1 issue.
Has anyone successfully installed on Windows Server 2012?  Is there a way to force the installer not to check for the OS?
    Thanks.
    Kevin

I have a PAS server running in Windows 2012, by doing exactly the same pre-requisites  that you do in Windows 2008 r2 (iis, Framework, SQL ADO 2005 / 2008). With the Windows Server 2003 SP1 message you can avoid it by doing a really simple thing that
is right click the setup file --> properties, and head to the "Compatibility Tab" and run it with compatibility mode Windows 7, also run it with Admin permissions. This let you pass by the message and let you install the product.  Remember, after  the
installation, you need to check all the IIS config, folder permissions, that you did in Windows 2008 x64  installation. Also, the App pool needs to work with .NET 2.0 not 4.0.
    Good luck!

  • App-V 5 client install fails on prerequisite

I have manually installed Visual C++
2010 Redistributable on a test Windows 7 x64 client.  I am now trying to install the App-V 5 client on the same machine.  The installation fails.
The error says, "Microsoft App V Client 5.0 x64 requires Microsoft Visual C++  2005 Redistributable (x86) with minimum version 8.0.61001"
I then manually installed Microsoft Visual C++
2005 SP1 Redistributable x86 on the system.  When I try installing the AppV 5 client it still fails with the same error.
Why does the AppV client install routine fail to detect that Visual C++ is installed?  Anybody know how I can troubleshoot this?
    Thanks!
    FP

You need an updated version, try these:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5638
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14431
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347
    Install both x86 and x64 on a 64bit OS.
