CLIENT_OLE2 got WUC-15 error
I'm migrating an application from Forms6 to Forms9 using 10gDS(9.0.4) and WebUtil.
I've been using webutil.pll and webutil.olb in a form for CLIENT_HOST command. It works fine. So, it should mean that the config and settings for WebUtil are correct.
With the same application, I attached webutil.pll and subclassed webutil.olb in another form for the command CLIENT_OLE2, I got the WUC-15 error. I also tried the same thing on another form; it didn't show the error message, but the command didn't work (no response). Can you think of any reason?
A couple of things.
Have you installed Jacob to use the OLE functionality this must be installed?
First sign jacob.jar as per the readme.
You need to add to the full path to jacob.jar in a couple of places (at least windows)
Design time: To the CLASSPATH environment variable and for
runtime: To the appropriate env files eg ..\forms90\server\default.env ..\forms90\server\test.env etc
Also if you look on the forms product page you will see that there is a new version of webutil available 1.06

Getting WUC-24 error when running sample form WU_TEST_106.fmb
Hello all,
To learn more about using WebUtil, I downloaded the WU_TEST_106.fmb form and compiled it. I wanted to try writing to MS Word file. I ran this form, when the form got loaded, I clicked on the 'OLE' tab and then typed in my message and clicked on the 'Write to Word' button. Nothing were ever written to the temp.doc file. When checked the jinitiator13117.trace file, I saw four instances of 'WUC-24 - Error reading URL' error message. Any ideas what is causing the WUC-24 error messages.
Thank you for your input,
SeyedThank you so much for your help. I worked with our DBA to fix this bug. From the section you pointed out in chapter 2.5, we copied the virtual-directory line and added the real-path and pasted that line into the onion-web.xml on C:\DevSuiteHome\j2ee\DevSuite\application-deployments\forms\form90web directory.
The added line looks like the following:
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil" real-path="C:\DevSuiteHome\forms90\WebUtil" />
This resolved the WUC-24 error message. Once again, thank you for taking time to help me with fixing this error.

I bought today a new iPad from Rideau Store. The setup guys didn't update to latest software version. I tried to do myself trough iTunes, which notify me that an upgrade is available. After a while the upgrading process froze with a msg "unknown error ..". I clicked on the More info button and I got a page saying "due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support system some feature are not available.
The bottom line is that now the iTunes does detect the iPad being in recovering mode and asks to restore it to fabrics defaults. I tried to do this and again I got aqn "unknown error"
Finally I run the iTunes diagnostics to check the connectivity between my iPad and my HP laptop (iTunes). For unknown reson the iTunes does not detect my iPad. See below the diagnostics log:

How I got out of error 0199 purgatory
So I locked up my Lenovo T61 pretty spectacularly on a Friday night. That will teach me to play computer nerd, any reasonable folk are doing something more productive on said nights. What basically happened is that I thought that it was so cool that there were so many passwords that I could set that I in fact set them all and then made the BIOS sphincter tight, so that a password was required to breath funny. BUT the thing that killed me was requiring a supervisory password, not knowing what that was, and then setting it without knowing it. You don't record what you didn't know that you set.
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME. ONLY POORLY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS CAN DO THIS STUNT WHEN THEY ARE SEMI-CONSCIOUS.
My story is detailed on this thread
Please help - Totally locked out of T61
=============================
1. PART ONE: IN HARD DRIVE HELL
=============================
At any rate, these were the symptoms. If I rebooted, I received this error, no matter what I did the system kept politely but emphatically saying:
***** ERROR: 0199 System Security security password retry count exceeded *****
Press [F1] to get into setup utility *****
I kept politely but gullibly (is that a word?)
Hitting [F1]
and getting into the setup utility, a trip to nowhere (you can change nothing). No matter what I did, [F1] did not pass go, did not collect $200 but went straight into the BIOS setup utility, in which I could do nothing.
The answer of course was to ignore the obvious and
Hit [ESC]
instead. I detail this partly because that approach, ignoring what the software told me to do and trying alternate responses, is what saved my behind.
So I figured out how to get into my HDD, but every time that I got on I got that **** 0199 error. And I tried everything that I could think of, all that I could find in help etc. So now the story continues in a second thread.
==================================
2. PART ONE: IN PASSWORD PURGATORY
==================================
I figured out my HDD and power-on passwords. There are five variants of extremely difficult to crack code algorithms that I use (OK they would be difficult for ME to crack, as in never). Trying variants of them using my usual suspects, I backtracked those codes.
But what about this supervisory password? And where could I try it, because I was locked out?
Get into CSS (Thinkvantage Client Security Solution)
Move into <Enhanced Security>
Moved into <Unlock>
I noted that I could clear the lockout counter using my Administrator password. Hmm
Clear the lock out counter
This appeared to allow me to do the next step, but it is not absolutely clear to me whether/not this step was necessary
Move into <Deactivate>
My memory is that at this point it asks you for your supervisory password in order to deactivate the chip. I've turned off the supervisory password now (never again!!), so this is remembered. BUT. AHA! Now you can
Try out those few variants of your genuine, it-is-really-me, Lenovo-approved passwords that you remember or (in my case) half-remember
This step took me forever, because it doesn't LOOK like you can enter a password. But once you type it in then you have the opportunity to hit enter. It will lock you out eventually, and I APPEARED to have to clear out the counter and reboot before I could try again.
So at this point, I had these three passwords nailed down
* Power-on
* HDD
* All of my Windows passwords
* The holy grail, my supervisory password
A detour:
The supervisory password, by the way, turned out to be the HDD password that I remembered AND jives with one of the pieces of Lenono documentation that I combed for clues that I can of course no longer find. My best guess based upon my poking around is that there was
1) My user HD password, let us say that it was
Kermit
2) My master HD password, e.g..
Oscar
3) THEREFORE the HDD that I remembered
KermitOscar
was in fact the USER + MASTER (duh) that I couldn't figure out
This is where I feel exceedingly clever, for no particular reason.
Again I was/been looping around, endlessly trying to find a place to enter the ***** ******* supervisor password, now that I had the thing. But there is nowhere to enter it!
* You can't enter it when the BIOS fires up
* You CAN enter it until the cows come home in CSS to no effect
* Firing up Rescue and Recovery to enter the BIOS is equally useless.
So here is my simple cleverness, from the documentation "Using passwords."
When logging in, instead of entering your power-on password, use that supervisor password instead. In my case, if instead of using my fingerprint to log in with
When Windows asks you to log in, I hit <Esc> and entered
First the SUPERVISOR password and
Then the HDD password
Instead of the regular
Power-on password and
Then the HDD password
Then you trip over from Kansas into Oz and VOILA!!
============================
PART THREE: BACK IN LENOVO OZ
============================
I am now recognized as the supervisor and can play again with things in the BIOS which were better left alone.
My fervent hope is that some other person out there will not waste as much time on this as I did.
For 95% of you out there this will be dull stuff.
My guess/hope is that this post will stay posted. I am not giving away any nuclear secrets here, I figured it out on my own and/or it is in th edocumentation. If you were not just a few steps away from remembering your password this wouldn't work or be worth your time if the person had a password worth a ****.
I'm not paranoid or anything, it is just that all of the posts that I wanted to read were yanked offline like they were giving away nuclear secrets. If I have inadvertently said something that I shouldn't then don't just yank the post, tell me what I need to fix and I'll revise this to something less yankable.
Enough.I have a similar problem. I solved the problem as you did, but clicking the eject button. However, it seems that I have to do this nearly every time. If I plug it in, it will sync and finish. "Do not disconnect" goes away OK. However, if I choose 'sync' from the file menu, it will sync and then not clear when finished. I have to manually eject.

One of my external hard drives died. I had several iPhoto libraries in it. Fortunately, I used Time Machine to backup to a Time Capsule and I can see all the iPhoto library icons in Backups.
When restoring the first iPhoto library, after three hours, I got an "unexpected error" message and the operation could not be completed. Indeed, the restored library is smaller than the library in Backups. Is my best choice to try again and replace the restored library (which apparently must be missing some photos)? It would mean another 3 hours plus of restoration with fingers crossed...
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!I am always suspicious of using a different OS to the one that was used to run the backup.. ie if you used Snow L to backup then there is absolutely nothing wrong with using SL to restore.
Mount the TC sparsebundle and verify it using disk utility.
A5 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
You might also like to load the widget in Time Machine so you get whatever the full error message is..
I cannot find any reference to the error code you are getting..
My recommendation would be to try it on a different computer.. restore the whole backup to an external drive large enough to accept the whole backup.
Use the manual methods pondini recommends.

There are 8 bean areas in the form and that matches the 8 ClassNotFound exceptions. My default-web-access.log file states GET /forms90/java/oracle/forms/webutil/clientInfo/GetClientInfo.class HTTP/1.1" 404 188 for all of the classes in the form and I believe a 404 code is not good. I have put all files in place (jacob,webutil), signed all, loaded latest jinitiator, referenced the object in the form and the form actually runs no problem except for the beans. Everything looks good and I am completely stumped at this point.
Here are some files I have modified that point to the java files:
The webutil.jar and jacob.jar files are in c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\lib.
orion-web.xml added:
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil" real-path="c:\oradevel/forms90/webutil/lib" />
formsweb.cfg added:
#added for webutil functionality
webUtilArchive=/forms90/webutil/webutil.jar,/forms90/webutil/jacob.jar
baseHTMLjinitiator=c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\server\webutiljini.htm
baseHTMLjpi=c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\server\webutiljpi.htm
baseHTML=c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\server\webutilbase.htm
default.env added:
CLASSPATH=c:\oradevel\jlib\debugger.jar;c:\oradevel\jlib\ewt3.jar:c:\oradevel\jlib\share.jar;c:\oradevel\jlib\utj90.jar;c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\lib\webutil.jar;c:\oradevel\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar;c:\oradevel\forms90\webutil\lib\jacob.jar
Hope someone can help. Thanx,

US Magnesium
Senior Software DeveloperTrent, let me answer you questions..
"Why doesn't someone just please post the answer instead of passing the buck?"
The error you report is a SYMPTOM of a underlying problem which USUALLY points to the issues documented in the FAQ. We have infact pointed you to a document that specifically outlines the POSSIBLE issues. However, you need to do some investigation - there can be many reasons why this symptom appears...I'm sorry that you think by pointing you to this that you thought we were passing the buck.
"Your help would be greatly appreciated by myself and countless other oracle developers!" - which is exactly why we documented this in the FAQ....by posting it in the FAQ it leads people to all the common issues and is searchable on other forums as well.
A final point - this forum is a self help group; a community of like minded people, many of who spend much valuable time helping others; if people are taking the time to help answer your questions its certainly not an indication of buck passing...they have infact gone out of their way to help..
Hope that helps clarify and I hope the document helps solve your issues.

I loaded actions into my PSE 10, then when I restarted my PC (windows 7) and PSE 10 I got a Runtime Error (Microsoft Visual C Runtime Library)
Are these actions you put into the C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Photo Creations\photo effects folder?
If so, did you delete both the
ThumbDatabase.db3 in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0
and
MediaDatabase.db3 in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
after installing the actions?
Then let the pse 10 editor run for about 10 to 20 minutes to rebuild the effects database. -
Tried to "Open As" in PS a NEF file I modified in LR. Got the following error message: "Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse the file." I can "Open" the file in PS, but then the changes I made in LR (and saved in the associated meta data file with the "Control S" command) are not applied to the opened PS file. HELP!
If you are working with a file you modified in Lightroom, you should go to the Lightroom Photo menu and choose Edit in... and the version of Photoshop you want to open it in.
There a dialog will ask if you want to transfer the LR settings you made to your photo when you open in Photoshop.

I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file
I got the Mac error code -36 while trying to move a backup file (made by Time Machine) to another drive. The full text of the error message is:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “boot.efi” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)It's a disk error. Although Apple documentation says you should be able to copy Time Machine backups in the FInder, that doesn't necessarily mean it will work. I suggest that, instead of copying the existing backup, you start a new one on the other drive, and keep the old one. You need more than one backup anyway.

While trying to setup a time capsule backup to my MyBookLive external drive, I got the following error message: The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features. What's up with this?
This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).
