Client Review Premiere Pro CC Output EASILY

Hi I am trying to figure out an easy workflow to allow clients to review a video that I output from Premiere, and make notes - and ideally be able to mark up frames of video to show me exactly where they are talking about. I saw a video of this being done in premiere pro CS5.
Do Client Reviews of Video Projects Online with CS Review & Premiere Pro | Creative Suite Podcast: Video Professionals |…
.... but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do something like this in PPro CC.
I know I can upload an outputted video to the Cloud, and send a link, but that requires the client to download and no way to easily mark it up.
I have looked into Adobe Anywhere, but that seems like an overkill for this need.
Thoughts? Thanks!
-Brad

Adobe Anywhere is an enterprise solution with high overhead.
CS Review was pulled after a couple of release cycles. I'm not privy to the why's and wherefore's.
Two suggestions:
Have your client install the trial version of Premiere or, probably better still for this purpose, Prelude. Then they can import the video (your encoded output, not the project...) and add markers with their notes--with duration if desired to mark a span. The markers are saved to the clip, so you'll see them when you import the clip into PPRO. Then you can drop that clip on the top track of your working project and walk through the notes.
Go old-school: Burn timecode into the review video, and have the clients reference the timecode in their notes.

  • Premiere Pro CS4: Output Issue - codec and image size

I am having an issue when outputing a video file from Prem Pro to Media Encoder.  The dimensions of the input video are the usual 720x576.  The output I need is 390x390 to match my project.  By choosing the Sorenson 3 video codec I am able to adjust the size from 720x576 to 390x390.  However, it also applies black bars to the top and bottom of the image.  I don't want this.  If I choose the DV PAL video codec the black bars are removed in the output but I do not have control over the image size.
In Prem Pro 1.5 the media encoder allowed for this and I was able to create a cropped video image (390x390) without black bars.  By selecting the zoom option the image was fitted into the window size.  There is no zoom option in CS4 in Media Encoder.  This is very frustrating!
    Any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks, Neil

This is odd indeed, and I cannot recall having read of such. The tips were just the general things that one normally checks out, when there are audio issues, so nothing specific to this behavior.
Now, as a test, you might want to try ASIO4ALL, linked in the article above. Usually, it will get audio, where the Realtek, or Creative driver will not. Again, this is as a test, just to see if by-passing the Realtek driver will help. Do not forget to set the Audio Hardware ASIO to ASIO4ALL in Input and Output. Then test. If it has zero affect, then just uninstall it, and change the setting back.
Good luck, and wish I had more to help,
    Hunt
PS - other than mechanical/electrical things like the audio chip heating up and a connection failing, I just cannot think of something that would cause this behavior. Maybe download and run SpeedFan, a great little free utility, and monitor the temps for all components with sensors.

  • Managing/viewing Premiere Pro reviews

I have a couple questions regarding managing and viewing reviews that are uploaded from Premiere Pro CS5:
Is the only means of navigating through the "parts" of a particular review the up and down arrows and the "# of #" box in the upper left corner of the review page? I've poked and prodded all around the service, and have found no other means of navigating directly to a particular review. If I'm missing it, please advise; if it's not there, this is something that has to be added soon to make this a viable means of sending previews to a client. I have a project with more than 20 sequences/parts in it already, and not having quick access to a specific part directly is going to frustrate already-fickle clients.
This hinges on the first question, so I think I already know the answer: is there a means of reorganizing the order in which uploaded reviews are displayed? For example, I have five reviews called A, B, C, D, and E, and I want them to appear in that order. However, the order they were uploaded is the order they are displayed: D, C, E, A, B. It seems that there might be a way of doing this for graphic/design reviews (I don't know for sure, as I don't work in this field or use CS Review for such), but I cannot find this option for video reviews.
This is more of a feature request than a "how-to" request: we need batch capability for encoding and uploading. I'm not sure if this would involve launching AME for background encoding (as is done currently for local exports), but one definite improvement would be assigning priority to encodes that are ready to be uploaded. In the example above with the 20-ish sequences (all about one minute in length), the encode goes quite quickly on my system--much faster than uploading. As a result, I can get five or six encodes done before the first upload is completed. Instead of spooling the uploads in order, the CS Review panel tries to shove every encode up the pipe as it is completed. This makes the entire upload process much slower than it would be if they were uploaded serially, instead of in parallel.
The first and second items are "gottahaves" if there is no way to do so now (I can already hear the client grumbling now), and the third would be a "nicetahave," so I hope feature and functionality updates are available in due course. For the record, I do like the service--I'm actually very impressed with it--and see great potential in it for making my life quite a bit easier when it comes to client relations. I just hope I'm missing #1 and #2 above, and there is an easy method of accessing both.
BONUS QUESTION (tongue-in-cheek): For those of us who are in video production and will only be using CS Review for video content, will we be credited for the amount of time between our CS5 registration date and the release of the CS Review service for Premiere Pro, so that we receive the full allotment of our free 12-month subscription?
Thank you for hearing me out, and any input you can provide.

    Hi Mike,
Thank you very much for your reply. As a general statement, I really appreciate that you guys are staying on top of what real end-users actually need, instead of what sounds shiny and poofy in marketing literature. I'll respond to each of your responses, but I'll also send an email as I'd be glad to communicate with you in more detail on our use of the service.
    1. You have found the two means of doing this...via the arrows and the part number edit box. We are planning on improving navigation as a focus in our upcoming releases. Question: What kind of navigation where you expecting to find and didn't?
I was afraid of that. The arrows are problematic because they're linear, and the numbers entry box is problematic because "part numbers" don't mean much of anything to the client. Both means of navigation are not direct enough, are not very self-explanatory (there isn't even a text call-out that says something like "Navigation"), and require a bit of looking around in the interface to locate. I know where these things are now, but I don't want to have to educate each new client on how to navigate the system. I hate to say it, but this thing needs to be accessible to the lowest common denominator in order to be effective. Several of the clients I work for require several sets of eyes or departments to review a given piece, so making the interface basic and navigation immediately obvious is crucial, as I'm sure you'll agree.
I could be sated with a simple dropdown that pulled the name of the review part (the web client already does this, and posts it beneath the video player), or even better, use the wasted space on the left side of web client to display each review part in a thumbnail. The interface could and should resemble the CS Review Panel, and could display the number of views, replies, and status (Changes Needed, Revised, Approved, Completed, etc) of a particular review part. Here's a quick, crude mockup of what I envision (I didn't have time to paint it or build it to scale)...
Hopefully that makes some sense; I think this type of navigation, while it maybe isn't as stripped down as you'd like, would make the service much easier to use for multipart reviews. Maybe a small button could be added to the division between the panes to slide in or out the "parts list" so it could be moved out of the way when not necessary.
    2.  Reordering parts- you can drag n drop parts to reorder using the Review Panel. This was missing in the CS Review help chapter. Good catch Colin. We are considering ways to make this more obvious in the review panel and in the web client.
Maybe add some double-headed arrows (single-headed on the first and last part) that would serve as a visual indicator to click-and-drag, and add some pop-up bubbles that explain what the arrows do (this is already done with the Eye icon and the Comments icon)...
    3. Regarding background processing of encode and prioritization of the upload- we are exploring using AME for enabling a encoding queue. We had not yet considered the use case for prioritizing the upload. Good stuff. This is valuable and timely information and thank you for the feedback. Question: how many simultaneous uploads and what size/length of video are typical?
It will vary, but to use the current project I'm working on as an example, I've got 20 sequences that are all approximately 1 minute in length. The source material/sequence in this case is DVCPROHD 720p/30p from Panasonic P2 MXFs, and I'm using the HD 1.5Mbps preset. My computer is fairly snappy, and on these simple first edits, will encode a minute clip in about 6-7 seconds; the upload takes several times longer, obviously. Doing this one-by-one is tedious, and I create a backlog pretty quickly. Once more than one upload starts, the process slows down significantly. Is this a typical project? No, not necessarily, for me or for other companies, but it's a quick way to reveal the deficiencies in the current encode/upload process.
Ideally, I'd love to send multiple sequences to a batch, either within Premiere or through AME, and apply a preset to all of them and have them handled sequentially. What would be killer would be the ability to drag one or more sequences from the Premiere Pro project panel into the CS Review panel and drop them into a waiting Review. One enhancement could be the ability to set up an encoding preset for a particular Review; since I'm typically working with the same video format in a given project, I wouldn't be altering this for individual Review uploads.
While I can't divulge to many schedule details, know that we are actively working on these items. The fun part about services is that we intend to have more frequent feature releases than the desktop apps.
That's great to hear. I just got off the phone with the producer I do a lot of post-production for, and he's pretty excited about CS Review, too. We don't feel like we're quite ready to deploy it on one of the clients yet (mostly because they're terrified of change), but also because we feel it has to be proven before we can rely on it. It's one thing if your desktop application doesn't quite work the way you'd expect--you can work around it and still get your jobs done, and your clients are none the wiser. However, with something like this, it had better be bulletproof because anything that doesn't work right is going to make clients unhappy--and when clients aren't happy, we don't eat I know you guys get this, and it's obvious in how well the service works so far; we just need to do some more internal tinkering (and hoping our requests will be heard and implemented) before we'll let it loose.
Thanks again for listening, Mike; I'll email you so you have my information.
Cheers, and great job so far,
    Colin

  • Animated gif selection does not appear in output menu of Premiere Pro CC?

I watched an online tutorial of how to make gif files using Premiere Pro CC. When selecting the output, an animated gif choice appeared in the output drop down menu of the Premiere Pro CC used in the tutorial. However, the output drop down menu of my Premiere Pro CC doesn't contain an animated gif selection. How do I get an animated gif selection to appear in the output drop down menu of my Premiere Pro CC?  I'd like to create gifs with my Premiere Pro CC.

    Steven,
In fact, here's a screen shot of the format selections that appear in my Premiere Pro CC.  Ya see... No Animated GIF selection appears.

    Hi everyone!
I'm frustrated with my results after exporting a video with Adobe Premiere Pro (both CS6 and CC).
The color of the video output is slightly different to the original file (i've checked if it was a problem with my video player, but no, i've tested the video with WMP and others with no success).

I'm exporting the video using almost the same parameters from the original file.
Here's a screen shot of my settings in Premiere:
As you can see in the printscreen, the settings only differ from the original file parameters in the bit rate (which i raised a little),
the TV standard (which i have no ideia what it changes), the level of H.264 (which i raised from 4.0 to 4.1, 5.0 and 5.1), and the bit rate encoding (which i've tried using CBR, VBR 1, and VBR 2).
Just for my curiosity...why these numbers in orange are so extensive? I mean, the original video is only 01:35:30:06 in final output (which is correct).
Notice that i do not use key frame distance (as i don't know what it does).
If i'm doing something wrong, please tell me.

Well if i do that, the video will raise up GBs larger (and that is really bad).
    Why is it really bad?
Its a fact of digital  life. High datarate = quality.
example ...even the Youtube preset is in the 8mpbs area.
...and you are exporting 1 hr 35mins of media.

  • Premiere Pro CC CUDA rendering working with avi output only

    Hello All,
on my system Premiere Pro CC is only using GPU rendering with AVI output formats.
All other formats like MPEG2, Quicktime, H.264 are unfortunatly fully CPU rendered (=slow).
I just upgraded from trial to payed mode and when Premiere started the CUDA was already enabled (might have activated it during trial already).
But anyway I checked if my card was in the support txt file and also used the cuda.zip auto tool to make sure I had no typo.I did this for Premiere Pro CC and also copied the list into the Adobe Media Encoder directory.
No matter what I did - no hardware rendering.
So I started playing with input and output formats.
It turned out that CUDA is currently only working with AVI output. I installed GPU-Z to check my GPU usage vs CPU usage in the task manager.
As soon as I pick any other output format than AVI - CPU usage during rendering is up to 80-90 and GPU at 0%.
With AVI output GPU ist around 30 and CPU in the 40ties or less as it should be.
    What is going wrong here?
One of my old applications Cyberlink Power Produces 11 is doing the h264 rendering in half the time.
    Any suggestions?
    My System is running on:
Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe with 16GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti (with current Driver - 332.21 )
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit (with Media Center) and latest updates
Current entry in CUDA*.txt file (as printed by Adobe GPUSniffer):
    GeForce GTX 660 Ti
    And already tried:
    GeForce GTX 660Ti
    GeForce GTX 660
    Best regards
    Moongate
P.S. I already followed the instructions on this page http://www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5.htm

I now understand that Premiere Pro CC is only using my GPU for accelerating complex effects during editing giving me the possibility of a live preview during editing?
From the editing in other apps I know that the final rendering can also eat up much time which is why they try to accelerate it via GPU rendering. I see that Premiere is "outsourcing" this task to the Adobe Media Encoder (AME) so that you can continue working during rendering.
But I believe what tricked me into asking this question is that in the AME there is also the option to choose between software and GPU assisted Mercury Engine. So there must be a purpose for it and it sounds resonable that it is for GPU assited rendering.
So when the encoder is not using the GPU to speed up completion of rendering - what is he doing with that option?
Would it not be clever to cut rendering drastically using the GPU - its hard to believe that Adobe is only using it for previews?

  • Rendering white flicker on the program monitor and output video file. How to get rid of this flicker in adobe premiere pro cc 2014?

    Hello,
I have been working with long sequences in adobe premiere pro cc 2014. All of sudden, I see white flicker in the program monitor and rendered output too. The flicker does not follow any pattern. It is very random.
How to work around on this?
    Regards
    Naveen Alle

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.

  • Preview and output in Encore cs5 quality, not close to preview in Premiere Pro CS5

I am working on a project and in Premiere Pro the preview looks fantastic.  Sequence that I am dealing with is AVCHD 1080i.  When I send the sequence to Encore via Dynamic Link, the preview is fuzzy, not sharp and out of focus. Not only is the preview quality poor in Encore but the output to DVD is just as bad.  The footage is pristine in Premiere Pro.  I don't get it and I am seriously frustrated.   I have done other projects and never had this problem.  I have also tried DV NTSC for the sequence setting and got the same results. Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Richard

Yes, it's true that AVCHD to DVD in Encore is not of very good quality but there is a workaround for that.
You can use "Maximum Render Quality" for transcoding the AVCHD file. The quality would be much better than earlier.
    to do this :
Just Right click  on the asset which is untranscoded and choose Transcode Setting (First option in the context menu)
In the dialog box that comes for Transcode settings, check the "Use Maximum Render Quality" check box and then transcode the file.
    This should look good.
    Hope it works for you.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh.

  • Will project archive out of elements 13 work in premiere pro cc or should I output to file? Thanks

Will project archive out of elements 13 work in premiere pro cc or should I output to file? Thanks

    Hi Phillip,
You should be able to open a Premiere Elements Project in Premiere Pro CC (Windows only), however, I tried it and found the results were not very acceptable for use as a backup. Can you try it first?
    Thanks,

  • How can i change the format of output captured footage using DSR-11 in Premiere Pro CS5.5?

    Hi.
I am using Premiere Pro CS5.5, capturing footage off a mini-DV casette (NOT HD) using a Sony DSR-11. All is well with that, except for that the output is an .avi rather than MP4 (H264). I am under the impression that H264 with the extension of .MP4, is better than avi.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the format of that outputted footage?
    thanks:)

thanks Ann, Jim. I was afraid u'd say avi is the only option w/capturing, but am happy to hear it is the best option. Thanks again, and to the others who replied (and i will look at the "best export format/codec" page:)

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13 with Intel Iris graphics breaks Premiere Pro CC hardware output

    Hi all,
I just recently got a MacBook Pro 13 Retina, to use for basic editing as a secondary system to my iMac. The MacBook Pro sports a Intel Iris integrated graphics system. When I use GPU acceleration (Open CL), my Blackmagic or AJA Thunderbolt I/O outputs solid green. When I switch to software only, video plays back fine.
I'm running Premiere Pro CC 2014 on Mac OS 10.9.4. I've read that Adobe is now optimized for Intel Iris graphics using Open CL, but why is mine not working when using external video IO?
    Anyone run into this?

Does switching off Wifi make a difference?
In UK and USA (and quite a few other places) you have 14 days from purchase to get a refund or replacement - no questions asked.  If there is nothing running then this does sound to be depleting rather fast.  My late 2013 13" MBP retina gives me about 10 hours using Pages (several documents open) and e-mail only.
Get a replacement and see if you get the same problem.

  • How do you use the color channel output mode in Ultra Key in Premiere Pro CS6?

I'm wondering how the color channel output mode is supposed to be used in the Ultra Key inside of Premiere Pro CS6? I've looked through all the Adobe help items and I don't see any documentation on it.

Before I answer, you might want to read the following article: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/essentials/rgb/
So, basically, if you understood all of that, and maybe already knew all of that, then you can use the color channel to see more deeply into the effect by looking at the details of the image through the lens of the color channel.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Video Output (GPU) bad quality...

    Hi,
I have a question about Adobe Premiere Pro CS6...
I have installed the Trial-Version and use a BM Intensity Pro to output Full-HD 1080i (50, Interlace) trough HDMI Video-Output...
The Video-Output works correctly, but if I enable the "GPU"-Acceleration (CUDA), and scale or transform a Video (for example a 3D-Transformation) the Quality of the transforming is very bad! (jerky, not "smooth", Interlace-Lines etc...)
If I deactivate the GPU-Acceleration (Software only Mode), everything is smooth and looks good!
Also if I render the Timeline, all tranformations are also smooth, only the Realtime GPU Rendering looks very bad....
    What can I do?

    Hi :-)
I have tested it now with another Grafikcard!
And it is exactly the same problem
I have found out, that the GPU makes a delay, after a few seconds the Transformation looks smooth/bicubic!
    But on relatime-Playback its bad...
My English isnt very good, so I have some problems to describe what I mean...
If you stop the playback, it takes 2 Sekonds and then the image looks good!
But dureing the playback its very bad quality, false Interlace-Lines etc...
    here are two screenshots:

  • Jittery output from Premiere Pro

    Hi.
I am creating wmv files from sets (say 300 frames) of still renders from 3DS Max.  I originally created JPEG frames.  The resulting wmv files were jittery/stuttery when played back in VCL or Windows Media player.  I tried creating better quality TIFF files but the resulting wmv files were still jittery.
Has anyone any idea what could be causing this and what settings I could try.  I have been through the obvious Bitrates/Codecs etc.
I am using Premiere Pro CS6 on 64 bit Windows 7 (SP1) Intel Quad Xeon 3.6 with 24Gb RAM.  My graphic card is an  NVidia Quadro 5000.
    Thanks,
    Terry

    Hi Joe.
Many thanks.  It was down to the fps.  I couldn't find where the setting was to change the fps for the sequence.  I eventually found it and also created a custom sequence with 30 fps.  My fps from Max is 30 but when I first imported into Premier it came in as 25 (not sure why?).  I also originally set up a standard widescreen sequence that was 29.97 fps.  Now everything is at 30 fps it seems much better.
The playback is not perfectly smooth but much more acceptable.  Are there any other settings when I export from Premiere that will help to make it smoother (e.g. bitrate/max render quality etc?) (I am completely new to Premier Pro).
When these are complete they are going into a Powerpoint.  I find that no matter how good the wmv files are there is still some "jerkiness" in playback in PP.  Any tips on this?
    Many thanks,
    Terry
