Client Screen Resolution

Hello-
I think there may not be a way around this but i figured Id ask.
I have a 13" MacBook, my fiance a 24" iMac.
Trying to use Illustrator on my baby screen is no fun at all. I dont have the right hardware to try to connect my mac to his and use his screen as a monitor (could I even do that?)
I was looking for and option without having to buy a monitor.
I installed ARP (3.3) on his computer and connected to mine, looks great and is not really a delay that I thought there would be.
But I didn't think that the screen resolution would be limited to what the laptop can handle 1280 x 800
any trick or work around to be able to view my screen on the laptop as large as his monitor (1920 x 1200)

Toggling the "fit screen in window" button will change between a scaled and a scrolling view of the target machine.

Hide menu bar, address bar; Determine client screen resolution

Hi!
1) Is it possible to create WDA with hidden menu bar, toolbar and address bar in the IE?
2) Is it possible to determine resolution of client's screen? It's for smart resizing of controls.

Is there a way to Hide the Menu bar?
The menubar is a consistent interface artifact in Mac OS X and Macs in general which never changes its location, unlike Windows which attach menubars to specific applications. If your purpose is a kiosk style web browser, there is Saft for Safari. Other web browsers have their own built-in kiosk mode for the Mac.
If you want a menubar to be hidden for other applications, contact the software vendor who makes the software you want the menubar hidden on. Most applications depend on its existence.
The Dock while put on the right hand side of the screen is less likely to get activated by accident, and will activate more slowly than when on the bottom of the screen if you make it unhidden and magnification off, and then automatically hide it with command-option-D keystroke.

The error message that usually comes in status bar while you are running the transaction online might appear in a popup window when you are running that in batch and makes fields disable for input .
sometimes while you are recording a particular transaction you can observe some unwanted screens which will not appear when you are manually using the transaction.
this problem is resolved by ctu_params. this also avoids the screen resolution problem.
example:
Declare a work area of type CTU_PARAMS
X_OPTIONS-DISMODE = 'E'. (dispaly mode)
X_OPTIONS-UPDMODE = 'S'. (update mode)
X_OPTIONS-DEFSIZE = 'X '. (screen resolution)
X_OPTIONS-NOBINPT = 'X'. (hide the popup and unwanted screen)

Change screen resolution in mobile clients

Hi,
Is there a way to define resolution in RDP mobile clients (wp,android,ios) when connecting to an RDP server?
It seems mobile clients connect with their native (max) resolution to the server, but most of the time it makes no sense. Full HD and 4K, extremely high DPI mobiles are coming and the desktop is very small on these devices. I know it's possible to zoom in
the session, but using full resolution it's a waste of bandwidth, especially on 3G.

Screen resolution for remote client

I have used Windows remote desktop and it has the fuction of setting the display resolution of the target machine when you login. So if i am on using a small laptop with small screen resolution (1024 x 768) and connect to a remote machine with a high resolution i can set the remote machine to display at 1024x768 nativly (no stretching or scalling).
DOES APPLE REMOTE DESKTOP HAVE THIS FUNCTIONALITY?

Ok so the solution was to user a different VNC client in Ubuntu. "Vinagre" allows you to view your remote session scaled to any size you like. It will however retain the dimentions of your MacBook screen.
One thing to be aware of is that when authentication your VNC session (entering your username and password) Vinagre only allows you to enter a password of 8 characters max. So if your password is longer then 8 characters you will have to shorten it to user Vinagre... A bit annoying but at least it works.
Techy notes:
It is actially the VNC server Vino that Vinagre uses that is enforcing the password length limit. So if using an alternative client that uses Vino as it's VNC server this limit will apply for that client also.
Even though you are scaling the client session down VNC sends the host's full resolution so you will still transfer a lot of data over the network.

Unable to Change Screen Resolution in Remote Session - Windows Server 2012 R2

Does anybody know of a way to allow Remote Desktop users to adjust their own screen resolution in a remote session under Windows Server 2012 R2? We are struggling with this and can't seem to find a solution.
When users login to their RDP session and try to adjust their screen resolution this message is displayed in Control Panel:
"The display settings can't be changed from a remote session."
We don't want to use the "make text and other items larger or smaller" scaling feature, as this produces undesirable results with some of our applications. We also don't want to have to support multiple types of RDP clients or RDP shortcut
files.
We have looked at other posts but can't find an answer that applies to Windows Server 2012 R2. The closest thing we could find is KB2726399, but it only applies to Server 2008.
Does anybody have a solution for Server 2012?

Currently you cannot change the resolution from within the session. This is normal and expected behavior.
Unfortunately this means you need to set the desired resolution before connecting by using custom .rdp files, manually within the Remote Desktop Client, custom web launch page, custom windows launch program, etc.

Screen resolution in 10G and converison from 6i

Scenario is something like this:
We are converting forms from 6i to 10G.
We have designed forms in 6i for 1024x768 screen resolution. We don't have any issues in 6i for screen resolution of 1024x768.
We converted the form to 10G. Screen resolution is still 1024x768 in 10G. We are using separateFrame=true in formsweb.cfg to make sure we don't show the Applet in browser window. separateFrame=true opens the application in new window and this new window can use entire screen resolution.
Applet in new window is bigger than the screen resolution and we see scroll bars in main window when we open a child window. Obviously the applet is showing bigger footprint than client server form.
Why is this so? Is there a way to fix this?

If you will bring up a client-server form and a Web separate-frame form and compare them side-by-side, you can easily see the difference.
The height and width of the actual space used by the form is identical. In fact, in my comparison, both window widths are exactly the same number of pixels. I used snagit to compare the sizes.
However, if you compare the heights, you will see the difference. The web forms window has three bands above the actual Form canvas:
1. The main window bar with the java icon on the left, window title, and the three windows icons for minimize, maximize and close.
2. The pull-down menu choices on the left and the "Oracle" logo on the right. (Look-and-feel generic removes the Oracle logo, I believe.)
3. The Window0 bar, blank except an icon on the left (right click shows Restore, Move, Size,... CLose) and an icon on the right, which clicking causes the inside window to maximize or restore.
The Client/Server window has two bands:
1. Main window bar, similar to 1 above, except the icon on the left is a Forms icon instead of java.
2. Combination of 2 and 3 above: Contains both the icons in 3 above plus the pull-down menu choices. It is also about 8 pixels shorter than the web forms bar 2.
In addition, comparing the bar with the message and status lines at the bottom of both versions, you can see that the web forms bar is about 9 more pixels higher.
It is possible to position the Window0 at a y_pos of about -20 to regain some of the lost height (this causes the third bar described above to be hidden behind the second). But you cannot get all the height back, because of the additional height taken by Web Forms for the second bar and the bottom area.
So what is left is to reduce the height of the canvas area used by your forms by about 20 pixels.
I believe these heights are determined by the java runtime used by web forms rather than Oracle, so there is nothing Oracle can do about it.

Screen resolution in remote connection

Hello.
I have several macs, both at home and at the office.
I like to use my MacBook Air on the go.
When at the office, I like to work from a mac mini with a full HD screen resolution.
The MacBook Air support this external screen.
In order to avoid connecting and deconnecting the screen all the time,
I would like to connect to the MacBook Air from the mac Mini,
and enjoy the full HD screen resolution, while working remotely on the MB Air.
Unfortunately, I only can access the native MB Air resolution of 1440*900.
Is there any way to solve this ?

Screen resolution problem in Forms 9i.

I have developed an ERP using Forms 9i. I have kept my development workstation on 1024x768 screen resolution. This works fine on all the clients, which have the same resolution. But, if I change resolution on my development machine to 640x480 or 600x800, all the layout in runtime gets spoiled. I have tried to set the width and height of the applet in percentage(e.g. 100%) in FormsWeb.cfg, but nothing seems to work.
I wonder if there is any way that Form layout can be set in the applet like it is done in HTML, which is very simple and straight-forward. Any help would be appreciated.

No, there is no built in mechanism for re-laying out the screen at runtime. That does not stop you from writing your own though. You have pretty much everything you need in the various set__Property built-ins to change field position, sizes and fonts.

          You seem to be very confused about what servlets and JSPs are. These are
          things that run on the server and generate HTML. They can't possibly know
          if a user has scrolled the page, because the user hasn't seen the page yet
          when they are run. If they tried to read screen resolution, they'd get the
          screen resultion for the graphics subsystem on the server, or an exception
          if one isn't available (eg, there is no X display set).
          For these kinds of client interaction tasks, JavaScript is probably still
          your best option.

Hey all you non-ASP programmers, here's the deal. Microsoft has a Browser
          Capabilities component and they have defined a special way for you to
          populate a specially named cookie on the client side that will then allow
          the component to pick up what you sent it. In the ASP script, you then use
          the component. Behind the scenes, it works exactly like what you guys
          imagine, but Microsoft provides the format for sending the information and
          the parsing.
          The client side script does need to be written to include the information
          you want, but it would typically be written once and hidden by the lead
          programmer in a common include file where most programmers never had to
          think about it and thus might think it happened automatically.

11gr1 - Handling different screen resolutions for an enterprise app.

We are developing an enterprise application that will be deployed at different clients with different hardware.
We are confused about how to handle different screen resolutions and wonder how others are handling this.
We have some fixed size areas in our screens and liquid areas for content that may expand. The problem is say that you have a table with 6 columns. This table will be rendered nicely at 1280X800 but not at 1650X1050 or 800X600.
At higher resolutions we will either end up having some blank space or expand one of the columns of the table , but can't expand every column proportionally and this will look ugly.
For lower resolutions same problem in a different way will come into picture, we will not able to resize the columns and end up with scroll bars etc ...
What is the best practice with handling different screen resolutions for components like table,panel splitter etc ?

I don't think that any better solution exists, you already use liquid layouts and define widths & heights with percentages etc. In my opinion using blank column at the end of table columns makes table's looking better. Additionally creating custom skin for table and defining column heights & widths with % or em may help you to stretch columns?

Setting client acrobat resolution settings via javascript?

hi,
i have this long lasting problem with acrobat since cs2/cs3.
we use pdfs as container format for our screen design presentations. our screen designs are 72 ppi bitmaps.
now the problem:
since acrobat cs2/cs3, these images looks blurry in acrobat even in 100% view. this is because acrobat has this new preference setting under "page display" called "resolution". here the default is set to "use system setting", which in my case is 99 ppi.
the result is that our 72 ppi screen designs got interpolated to 99 ppi by acrobat even at 100% view. since most users have different system settings, there is no way to control the appearance of our 72 ppi bitmaps.
do you guys know of a way to circumvent this problem?
one way i can think of is to use javascript to set the clients acrobat software to "custom resolution" with 72 ppi. but i have no idea how to do that.
any ideas?

Acrobat 6 add the application object 'monitors' method and the 'Monitor' object with a number of properties. See Finding user screen resolution with JavaScript by Chris Dahl for instruction and an example of how to use this method and object.

Screen resolution for jsp page

Hai i have a doubt in the screen resolution of my page. i m using the screen resolution of my pc as 1024*762 pixels. i have done a jsp web page page in this resolution.while copying the page and running it in my friends room it appears differently because he s using the resolution as 1152*864 . Its there any way to solving the problem of viewing the page similarly in any kind of resolution...

Well it is not addressed by JSP rather it can only be done @the client end and javascript is what which can help you.

Controlling Remote Session Screen Resolution

Is there a way to turn off dynamic resolution update for rdp connections (outside of the checkbox on the connection itself)?
It would be best if we could either disable the client system form sending the resolution info to the connections, or manually set the parameters that are being sent to the client.

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can control the remote session screen resolution by two ways. When you connect you “Remote Desktop connection” in Display Tab you can adjust the screen resolution. And apart from that you can edit the .RDP file of server (with Notepad) which you need to
take remote session by “Desktop Height and width” setting. Please refer following article for more information.
