Client Security - Delete the preowners key?

Hi together!
I've just bought a used X41t. Because of several damages on the casing I changed PC and changed then the HDDs back. Now the CSS want me to give in the Administrator-password. I entered mine, I am logged in as "Administrator" - access denied. It's annoying that i can't use the fingerprint-coupled password manager. Is there a possibility to reset the security-chip? Can a Lenovo service point do that?
Thanks a lot for usable hints.

  • Client Security Solution And System Key Recovery

    Hey,
I have an IBM ThinkPad T40 2373-82M Laptop. Everytime Windows starts up Client Security Solution displays a box which is prompting me to enter a password of some sort for authentication. It indicates at the top of the window that the reason for authentication is 'System Key Recovery'. If I click the 'OK' button it brings up another window indicating that authentication has failed and that the security key could not be recovered. I do not recall ever entering a password in the Client Security Soultion programme or anywhere else on my laptop. I am not the first owner of this laptop and I am wondering if the previous owner may still have his/her password in the system? Is there any methid for which I could reset/restore these key's?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ash

    Thanks for the reply.
I must say I have read various issues on the web regarding this particular software buddled with Lenovo T series and although I will be uninstalling it I do not believe there is any support on this whatsoever. Too bad cause I did want to use it ...

  • HP client security looking for fingerprintscanner that isn't there.

Whenever I want to log onto my laptop I have to wait for the fingerprint scanner software to say that my fingerprintscanner isnt there. After that notification I can just log on with my password. My question is: how do I get the software to stop looking for a scanner and take me to the normal login screen immediately?
Extra piece of information: if I run the HP client security app I always get the final screen of initialization and cannot change any settings.
A lot of thanks in advance!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Keep in mind that I don't own a business notebook -- I don't run your flavor of Client Security software although I am familiar with the security software that runs on the consumer HP notebooks.
Please do make sure you have the means to log into your computer prior to removing the program.
    A couple of ideas:
    Before you make any changes:
Create a Restore Point:   Create a Restore Point – Win7 OR  Create a restore point Win8
Caveat:  Windows 8.1 does include its own Native fingerprint Logon software that is NOT dependent on Client Security software.  Removing the Client Security program does not affect the Windows Native Logon software.  Should that software exist and be active on your system, it must be handled differently.  You might easily dissuade both the Client Security and the Native Logon
Windows key >>type anywhere on the screen  pc > Click on PC Settings >
            Accounts > Sign-in options
If PC Settings does not stop Client Security from bugging your trip:  If you are not interested in using the Client Security software -- for whatever reason -- then I should think that you could uninstall the program from your computer from Programs and Features.
If you do not have an extra admin account on the system, you might consider adding one -- you don't need to USE the account -- but it might "save your backside" down the road.  You do not want to be the one who writes in and says, "I am locked out of my computer!"
Create a User Account with Administrative Privileges – Windows 8-8.1
Reminder:  An extra admin account will not protect you from the lockup of the bootup BIOS password that happens to so many people.  Locking the BIOS at boot usually only locks out the owner, by the way.  Smiling.
Once you uninstall any program, Restart / Reboot the computer -- even if the system does not insist upon the reboot -- and log in.  Windows loves a good reboot!

Just starting with BPC. Our first version is 5.1 SP3 and the server installation was completed successfully.
However, we have found that installing either the Admin or Office client components changes the following windows registry key on the client machine.
    Under
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
    EnableNegotiate is set to 0.
This causes the users default home page link to our Sharepoint Intranet to fail with a security error (403.1).
Uninstalling the client components does not reverse the registry key change.
Only manually changing the value of the key back to 1 resolves the issue.
Is there any way to prevent this key from being modified by the client installations?
Why is the registry key changed?  Is it critical to the functionality of the client components?
We have not seen any problems in the BPC 5.1 client applications with the EnableNegotiate key set back to 1.
I'm new in these forums.  Any input is appreciated.

    Hi James,
Personally I never have had any issues with this registry key, might be because I do not have many customers using sharepoint.
As you already did, I would change the key and test all functions within BPC extensively, If no problems are found, you could go for it. But be carefull with upgrades of the client software of BPC
Additionaly you could ask support why this key is changed with a client install of BPC.
Instead of a client install via the BPC webportal, a lot of customers are preparing/using custom software packages like SMS. You could reset the registry key with the requred value by using these kind of packages automatically.

  • Problems deleting a primary key field in a table.

    Hello Guys,
I deleted a primary key field in a custom table by clicking 'delete row' icon and then tried activating it through se14 - database utility. It is throwing an error saying 'Primary key change not permited for the value table zxxxx'. What is the problem???
How can I delete a primary key in a table??
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Naren

I am pasting the detail explaination over that error.
Primary key change not permitted for value table ZTV_RANGE_NUMBER
    Message no. AD 300
    Diagnosis
This table is defined as a check table. For reasons of consistency, changes to the primary key of the table are not allowed.
    Procedure
If it is essential that you change the primary key, you must delete the relevant foreign keys. Refer to the where-used list to find all tables containing a field that is checked against this table. Delete the foreign keys for these fields.
If necessary, maintain the deleted foreign keys again.

  • Filevault secure delete problem

    Hi,
I installed Snow Leopard and updated my system and everything was running smoothly. It freed up over 17gigs on my hd!
Then I turned on Filevault with the option to secure delete the old home folder. While it was deleting the old home folder, ( after encryption) the progress bar got stuck at about 70% for about 2 hours.
I clicked "continue" so that it would delete the rest in the background while I used my mac.
Under security prefs it still said it was 73% after a long time so I thought something was wrong. I rebooted and it was about 76%.
I thought something was wrong so I disabled filevault and saw that there was about 15gb of space being used on my hd, ( presumably from the old unencrypted folder was wasn't deleted.)
Then I turned on filevault again in the hopes that it would work this time but it didn't. After it encrypted, it started to delete the home folder but after a while it said that "couldn't delete home folder" because a previous version of the home folder couldn't be deleted. But now there's another 15 gb of space being used on my hd, for a total almost 37 gb of space being used from the 2 instances where filevault was unable to delete the old home folders.
I guess I should've just let the filevault do its' thing the first time, but I really thought something was wrong.
My question is how can I get rid of the all that space that is being used ( the 37 gb). Can I use 'erase' from the disk utility, or will it not work? Should I do a complete reinstall of my computer???
I hope someone can help. Thanks

    Hi, Dave.
re: A keyboard shortcut for Finder > Secure Empty Trash.
Such a keyboard shortcut is not defined by default. However, you can define your own keyboard shortcut for Secure Empty Trash within the application Finder using the instructions in "Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Creating keyboard shortcuts for applications."
If you think Apple should add one by default, I suggest you submit a Mac OS X Feedback.
    Good luck!

  • Strange behavior with the tab key and multiple users

    Hello,
I'm stuck on this problem and none of the usual trouble-shooting techniques have yielded results, so perhaps someone will point me the right direction.
I have an Intel iMac running 10.3.9 with two user accounts, and in one of the accounts the tab key fails to advance the cursor from field to field in any application, be it a browser, mail client, etc. The tab key works otherwise, I can switch between applications using apple tab, for instance. The other user account works fine. The keyboard & Mouse preferences are identical on both user accounts. In fact, after creating a new user account it too had no tabbing from field to field either, which would seem to indicate that it is not a problem in an individual account. Repairing the permissions did not help, and even a recent archive and install failed to change this. Anyone know where to look for an answer? Thanks in advance...
iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I did a wholesale replacement of the preferences folder from the working account to the non-working one, and after going through the welcome screens and re-setting a variety of preferences (setting up mail.app again, etc...), the tab key is functioning as expected in all applications. Thanks!

  • Client has deleted SBO-COMMON by mistake

My client has deleted the SBO-COMMON database while deleting other databases, assuming that it is like a DEMO database....
Please guide me the solution for this.SAP B1 is not functioning.Do i need to re-install SAP B1 Server.

You will have to re-install SAP Business One server. If you sill have the demo databases (SBO UK etc) you can un-check the option to install the demo database.
Also, I would recommend that you suggest to detach the database within MS SQL first, wait for a period of time for the end user to really confirm that the database is a demo / un-used database and then only remove the mdf and log file.
Alternatively, get them to check with you / a B1 partner before doing any work in the MS SQL relating to SAP B1.

  • IMac HD secure delete AFTER reinstall of original OS?

I transferred my data from old iMac (Mountain Lion) to new iMac.
I then reinstalled the original OSX 10.5.4 hoping to securely delete the HD based on info received!
But it only deletes the free space.
How can I now securely delete the Hard Drive?

I realised later what you meant by boot off the install DVD's.
I also missed 'Utilities' in the toolbar!
We live and learn.  Secure erasing is on the go.
Thank you both for all your help.

  • Cisco AnyConnect Secured Mobility Client not saving the VPN url after disconnecting from session/restarting client

    Hello there.
I am having a problem with Cisco AnyConnect version 3.1.04072. When one of my colleagues disconnects from the VPN session, closes out the program, and then later on, reopens the client, the address that he manually entered did not save and it's defaulting on the two now-defunct VPN servers listed.
Here's an example to see if it makes more sense:
-User opens Cisco AnyConnect. By default, there are two selections available on the pulldown:
    SSLVPN.abcdefg.com
    access.abcdefg.ca
These two VPN servers are now defunct and we use a new VPN server:
    access.abcdefg.com
The user has to manually type it in. He is now able to connect. However, when disconnected. Regardless if the program is closed or not, it does not save the new VPN server address, rather goes back to the default two VPN servers listed.
I've checked XML, HTML, registry keys, sys files, dll files to see if I can change the default servers manually. No sign of it.
I'm hoping that someone out there knows a solution to fix it.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Vergel ,
You can create Anyconnect client profile on ASA. In this profile , you can define the hostname/IP that you wish to connect , along with hostname/IP that should be displayed on the client.
In the client profile , you can define these parameters - "HostName" and "HostAddress" as "access.abcdefg.com" so that any user , who tries to connects , will see "access.abcdefg.com" as the name displayed in the anyconnect connect field.
On the client, the xml profile (C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile) [Win 7] can be seen using those parameters as follows:-
            <HostEntry>
                <HostName>access.abcdefg.com</HostName>
                <HostAddress>access.abcdefg.com</HostAddress>
            </HostEntry>
    Ref:- http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect30/administration/guide/anyconnectadmin30/ac03vpn.html#89103
Additionally, you can try to delete preferences.xml file to remove the redundant hostnames from the anyconnect connect filed.
Path for preferences.xml is C:\Users\Cisco\AppData\Local\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client (Win 7),
    Hope this helps.
