Client Security solution not working with fingerprint, Fingerprint Tab is unavailable

Just recieved my Thinkpad T430 today and have done all updates on the system. I am trying to use Client Security Solution with my fingerprint however it will not allow me to do so. Whenever I go into password manager I get the message, "The requested operation requires fingerprint authentication, but the device is not installed. Please make sure the device is connected and retry the option". Any idea as to how I can fix this? Currently the fingerprint only works to logon to windows (Note: I'm Running Windows 7 Pro x64).

Ok so i re did my windows after i did a zero fill on my hard drive as it was showing a corrupted sector on my disk that seemed to fix it for now, until it comes back if it does crossing my fingers it gone for good. Foolishly, I got a message to install the newest version of Firefox and did so without considering the consequences. Now, my Digitalpersona fingerprint reader will not work and I have many many programs that I use this feature. (It enables me to avoid typing username & passwords for different sites). I have tried to find the older version 5 to reinstall it, but so far have not been able to do it. All the Mozilla sites just offer version6. HELP!

Smart card with Thinkvantage Client Security Solutions doesnt work

Dear all,
I have the Lenovo Gemalto Expesscard54 Smart card reader (41N3043). I purchased some .Net smart cards from Gemalto also. I have installed the drivers for both the smart card reader and the smart card minidrivers, as well as the PKCS#11 Drivers from Gemalto.
However when I try to setup a smart card using Thinkvanage Client Security, the selection remains greyed out. What is the problem?
When I try to run the executable css_smartcard.exe, I am told PKCS#11 Module is not installed. How do I install the module as there is no command to choose where the driver path is.
Essentially I am wondering how to use smart cards on the client security software. The documentation, even the CSS deployment guide, has so little information on this.

I should add that I am using Windows 7 and my CSS version is 8.3, I can also verify my smart card works for other applications, only thinkvantage CSS 8.3 does not work.

By Oracle documentation when you set the "process ws-security header" in security section of a proxy service, the proxy service act as an active intermediary and consume the ws-security header received in inbound messages. I am using SoapUi to call the proxy with passwordDigest, WSS-Password Type option set to PasswordDigest.

Yes, but the flag "Process WS-Security header" needs to be set to 'No' and I included a delete node to remove the wsse:Security element from header. Attaching Auth.xml predefined policy to my request operation, causes OSB to include the policy directive in my WSDL, but the PasswordText(see below).
In Oracle security guide we have steps to configure PasswordDigest in the Oracle Service Bus Security Configuration using the WLS Console http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/security/model.html#wp1062542

USB security key not working with Mac

Hello! I have a windows compatible medical program that I am trying to run on parallels on my mac. The program uses a USB security key to work. Mac nor parallels (i have win XP running on it) is detecting my security key. The key is recognized on a different windows XP PC though. any thought??? greatly appreciated!

My USB stick was originally formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) as default and out of the box. As I understand this is the same as FAT32 on Win (?)
MS-DOS (FAT) configuration was however what led to all of my problems stated above.
That is why I'm confused.
Before writing to the discussion board, I reconfigured the stick to ExFat, based on some similar research, but an article discussion advised the ExFat not to be a stable nor reliable configuration. I do not know why this issue was mentioned, but several users logged this as an issue of the ExFat.
If you have a USB stick meant for Mac use only, not cross-platform, do you alter configuration from MS-DOS (FAT)?
(Primary use is for Mac backup only, I'm willing to give up the cross-platform requirement)
I also don't understand why my Mac didn't detect a second USB stick, prior used on a different Mac.

RIM has explained in the past that they cannot offer AppWorld in countries where the carriers have not agreed to support AppWorld. Apparently your Pakistani moble providers need to step up to the plate.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the fingerprint software and the option is still greyed out in client security solution.

could you uninstall both software as well as the ThinkVantage Toolbox.
Go to our download page via http://support.lenovo.com and download the three software that was previously removed.
now install ThinkVantage Toolbox first, followed by Client Security Solution and then the Fingerprint software

Finger print reader will not work with password manager

i have the finger print reader working fine to log into windows but when i select advanced options for a password protected site in password manager,and custom security level ,when i click on protect with finger print,it says i have not enrolled any finger prints with client security solution,when i check the fingerprint tab in client security solution it shows my fingerprints what i have stored,why is this conflict happening?when i check my web email i want to be able to swipe my finger and log in not keep typing my password in,anybody know how to sort this??

I have the 3000 N200 notebook, when I use the finger print to log on using the windows vista logon it work fine, but if I try to use it with ThinkVantage technology (such password manager) it told me that the device is not installed.

Client Security Solution with fingerprint disable

I received a X201 with Win7 64-bits and I installed the fingerprint software version 5.9.4 and the Client Security Solution version 8.30.0031.00.
The fingerprint software is working perfectly, but the CSS is with the fingerprint configuration disabled.
Could you advice me in what is wrong?

hard to say what had happen, but could you uninstall both softwares then install the fingerprint software first then install the client security solution.
curious to know, was any software installed before this happen ?

My fingerprint scanner will not work with Firefox 4.

I used to be able to use my fingerprint scanner to log into all of the websites I use like Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo etc... But now since I updated to Firefox 4 it doesn't work anymore. The program that I use is called Digital Persona. How do I fix this issue?

Client security solutions TMP error message on a t60 with XP

I just installed client security solutions and I’m getting the follow error message. When I go to programs and click no security solutions opens. This t60 is new to me so I’m not sure which questions to ask.
I have the fingerprint reader working
What should I ask or tell

Who has client security, restore and fingerprint reader all working together? I did updates and when one works the other doesn’t. If I could find all three that work I would be happy. If you give me your versions numbers that works on yours that would be great. I have a T60 running XP

Client Security Solution with TPM

Hi,
after upgrading the z61p from XP to Vista I am not able to get the client security solution (css) up and running.
I always get amessage form css on the screen that an error occurred during connecting the TPM on this computer (sorry, I'm using the german language versions, therefore my translation might not be exactly the same what you get from the english version).
The message-box shows the additional hint, that the problem might be caused by the firewall or an antivirussoftware (both are actually disabled).
What I tried out already:
- delete and reactivate the TPM before installing css
- delete TPM (without reactivation) and install css
- connected to my domain, and not connected
- firewall disabled and enabled
- antivirus running and stopped
Has anybody an idea what else I can do to get the css with the password-manager up to work??

I'm a little bit frustrated by Lenovo, because of the poor support.
The notebook is excellent, but the support .....
In other newgroups if the members are not able to answer or solve the problem the supplier/moderator does.

A problem with Client Security Solution patch for Mozilla Firefox3

After I updated Client Security Solution to 8.20, the password manager cannot work in FF3 again.When I tried to reinstall the patch, it asked me whether to overwrite the files or cancel. Then it indicates 'This patch has already been installed on this computer', but the problem exsits.

As much as I would like to upgrade to FF3, I have not had any success in either using the manual configuration changes noted in the above thread or by using the CSS Patch for FF3 provided by Lenovo on 8/6/08 found here:

This patch appears to duplicate the manual efforts provided by member KTP in message 12 in the above provided link from what I can see.
I have never had an issue using the TV password manager and IE7. It is a very reliable combination.
I have no issues at all using FF 2.0.0.16, CSS 8.1 or 8.2 (now on 8.2), and Thinkvantage (TV) Password Manager 3.00.0106.00 (came with CSS 8.2). I have never had Lenovo Password Manager on my T60. Everything works reliably well with this combination.
In 3 hours of work yesterday, I was able to get TV Password Manager to show up in the FF3 add-ons as TV Password Manager 3.01 and this is the only way I was able to make it work, but only for a single browser session:
1. Tools --> Add-Ons
2. Disable TV Password Manager, then restart FF3
3. Tools --> Add-Ons
4. Enable TV Password Manager, then restart FF3
5. TV Password Manager will work for the duration that I am using the browser session
Once I close FF3 and reopen it, TV Password Manager no longer works. The only method I have found to "reset" everything is to perform the above sequence, but again it only works for the single browser session. It is very consistent. Although in does not show this in the Add-Ons page, it almost appears that the TV Password Manager add-on is disabled after I close the browser and needs to be manually disabled then enabled as noted above. If this is due to a conflict with other software on my laptop, I have not been able to determine this.
In my efforts yesterday, I spent time uninstalling CSS 8.1 or 8.2, FF, and even removed registry entries related to these packages in order to start with a fresh install, all without any success. I tried fresh installations and added the manual changes promoted by KTP and also tried fresh installations using the Lenovo patches, all without success. I made attempts to troubleshoot to root cause by removing all add-ons except TV Password Manager, and also tried preventing certain software from installing at startup via msconfig, as well as multiple settings changes within FF3, all to no avail. Again FF 2.0.0.16 continues to work very well with little effort on my part. I simply install the software and ensure that TV Password Manager 2.0 in installed in the add-ons and that's it.
In the above FF3 thread, it appears that others have had success with KTP's changes so I am a little frustrated that I cannot make FF3 and TV Password Manager work reliably. I have FF2 and IE7 working so I have plenty of good alternatives at this time. I will post this at the FF3 above as well to see if anyone has any feedback.

Help with setup of the X60s Client Security Solution

I recently restored my X60s HDD using the Product Recovery CD from
the Lenovo Service Center here in Singapore. Prior to the recovery
I had to reset the Security Chip thru the BIOS setup.
I did not setup any password in the system during the recovery
process. Part of the recovery process I did was to upgrade the
Rescue and Recovery (R&R) to Version 4.21.0016.00 and the Client
Security Solution (CSS) to Version 8.20.0023.00
Now that I have restored the Windows XP system and all of my
application software, I tried to setup my Windows password and also
use the CSS for added security of my notebook.
When I initiate the CSS, it ask me for my Windows password so that
the userid can be enrolled in CSS. When I enter the password and
press the OK button, I got this message ... "The user could not be
enrolled with Client Security Solution"
I think that the error is related to the resetting of the embedded
chip, called the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) in the notebook.
How do I now resolve this issue of using the CSS?
By the way, I just bought my X60s last Aug 23 2008 and the reason
why I had to recover my HDD is also because of the problem with the
CSS password which for some reason it always fails to authenticate.

It appears that you may have both PlaysForSure Zen Micro and non-PlaysForSure Zen Micro. As such, you should install both plugins for MediaSource. A newer version of MediaSource is also available to you.
Here is what you should do:
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) from your product download site.
