Client security system not accepting valid password

I'm turning my old laptop in to my employer, as I have a new one.  I need to clear out all my security settings.  I know all the passwords.
However, when I go into the Client Security Solution program and attempt to clear the embedded security chip, it's not accepting my passphrase.  This is true even if I use an administrator account on the machine to reset the passphrase.  I've even removed and re-added the user.  I only use two specific passphrases for all BIOS and security chip settings, and this has worked in the past.
What should I try to get this cleared?  If I cannot get these items cleared I'm going to have a problem with my employer.
Also:  when I enter BIOS from boot BIOS notes a Supervisor password is set, which is true, but gives me no chance to enter it.  How can I force BIOS to ask me for the Supervisor password?
Thank you,
H.

Hi,
in case you really want to clear everything, then my advice would be following:
- uninstall CSS
*  reboot
- make sure, that there is nothing left in Registry , %programfiles% and %programfiles%\Common files , which may indicate to CSS.
- once everything is clear shut down the system <NOT reboot>
- start into BIOS and clear the Security chip
NOTE: basically after the CSS was uninstalled, the items in the Security chip will be corrupted and not usable. So if you install CSS again it will firstly ignore the entries and then clear the chip
Let me know, if you need any more info, or you have some results from this test.
Cheers

Power cycle the router and try again.
If the issue persists, temporarily turn off security on the router and connect.  Then turn security back on and connect, it should accept the password this time.

  • ITunes store does not accept my Password anymore.

ITunes store does not accept my Password anymore.

I'm still having the same problem ... 6 months after your original post!  I've just had to reset my pw 2 days in a row, and I've been through so many resets over the past 6 months that I'm running out of ideas for passwords that I'll have a reasonable chance of remembering.  But I also always make a careful note of my important passwords, and after the 1st "password error" message, I check my list and enter the password very slowly and carefully.  So, I think I'm pretty safe in claiming that neither entering the wrong password nor making a typo is the problem!
Oddly, though, I could usually cancel the password-reset process, then go right to the the iTunes Store, where my password would work fine, allowing me to open and view all my account details.
Several months ago, I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with Tech Support trying to get this fixed. He was great and we thought he'd found the problem with my account.  (When I originally set up my iTunes account 6 years ago, I used a different email address than I used when I set up my new Mac last year, and that seemed to be causing some sort of conflict within my account.  Hard to imagine someone might change email addresses sometime over a 6-year period, right?  But apparently, the software designers didn't cover that possibility with one of their recent updates of the master system for customers' accounts -- that's the Tech Rep's surmise, not mine.)
Everything seemed to work fine for a few weeks, but then the problem started occurring again ... over and over and over ...

You can reset your password with the install cd or usb ...
Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, that administrator account may be used to reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above. These steps require an optical drive; if your Mac does not have an optical drive and you have a Mac OS X v10.6 Install disc, see below.
Start up from a Mac OS X Install disc (one whose version is closest to the version of Mac OS X installed).  Usually, you can start from the disc by putting it in your computer, restarting, and holding the C key. Or, put it in the computer and click the Install or Restore icon you see in the disc's main window (after which the computer will start from the disc without you needing to hold C). Or, you can use Startup Manager or the Startup Disk preference pane to select the Install disc.

  • For about 2 weeks I have been unable to leave feedback on ebay. Firefox brings up login page but will not accept password. I am having the same problem with my yahoo email. It will not accept my passwords, so I have to use IE to login to these accounts.

On yahoo email, it accepted my login id, but not password. This started on one account about two weeks ago. Today when I tried to login to another yahoo email, which worked yesterday, but it would not accept my password on this account.
I bought some items on ebay and wanted to leave feedback. When I clicked on the leave feedback button a sign in window appeared, this should not have happened, when I tried to sign in, it would not accept my password. I called ebay and was told they have had many complaints from customers using firefox when trying to leave feedback. The help desk suggested I try with Internet Explorer, I did, and it worked perfectly.
I have been using firefox for a long time and really do not want to go back to IE, but when I cannot sign into my accounts, I can't, so I will have to use IE.
As far as I know, no new programs have been installed on this computer.

  • Runtime Error 3031. Not a valid password

I am using VB6, DAO connection to connect to Access ACCDB file. The ACCDB file is created with password. But program hit error whenever attempt to open a db connection. The message as below. I have tested the password by directly opening the ACCDB file
in Microsoft Access. Password is correct.
The error message is runtime error 3031. Not a valid password
    The code use as below
    Sub OpenDB()
     Dim db As DAO.Database
     Dim ws As DAO.Workspace
     Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
     Set ws = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)
     Set db = ws.OpenDatabase("mydata.accdb", False, False, ";PWD=test12345")
     Set rst = db.OpenRecordset("house", dbOpenDynaset)
     If rst.RecordCount > 0 Then
       rst.MoveLast
       MsgBox rst!address
     End If
     rst.Close
     db.Close
    End Sub

    Hi Jsl,
Your code works well on my side, I can open a database with password. Below is the sample which I have tested:
    Option Compare Database
    Sub OpenDB()
     Dim db As DAO.Database
     Dim ws As DAO.Workspace
     Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
     Set ws = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)
     Set db = ws.OpenDatabase("D:\Access Files\StudentDbWithPWD.accdb", False, False, ";PWD=123")
     Set rst = db.OpenRecordset("ClassInfo", dbOpenDynaset)
     If rst.RecordCount > 0 Then
       rst.MoveLast
       MsgBox rst!ClassName
     End If
     rst.Close
     db.Close
    End Sub
So, it is strange that it does not work for you. Can you send me a copy of your Access file to my hotmail account:
    [email protected]
I will try to reproduce it on my side.
