Client-Sever Version of OEM in 10g?

Is there a Client-Server version of OEM in 10g other than the web based OEM?

Folks,
I just found a problem with the java version (client/server) of EM which is on the client cd of 10g R2.
The problem is that the memory parameters/distribution display (under the configuration section) is not working. The html version of EM properly displays the memory parameters for SGA.
I guess this is something the Oracle needs to fix in the next major patchset, or make another java EM for client/server available for download from OTN .
I personally like the java version for many reasons, not to be scrolling to much or has to click on Next page is one of them :)
hope this proves useful.

  • OEM for 10g

    Hello -
    Is there a "fat client" java version of OEM that comes with Oracle 10g? One that is similar to OEM in previous versions?
    Does one have to start up the emctl and use the browser-based OEM in 10g. I will eventually use that, but for now I want to use the old EM to connect to 10g.
    Thanks!

    No. That will eventually run into problems.
    However, a somewhat compatible version of the fat client is on the 'Client' cd available under custom install.

    Does anyone know where I can download the Oracle 10g client for the old OEM software. There is a download link on technet but it when you follow it ...it turns into something else....!

    I used to 10gR1 version to check out change manager. It was indeed buggy. It was quite easy to configure though and bear in mind, that it's here only for backward compatibility reason. This won't be available in the next versions.

  • Oracle 9i R2 Client on a PC having Oracle 10g Database

    Can I install and use Oracle 9i R2 Client on a PC having Oracle 10g Database on Windows XP Professional?
    The reason for that; is because I can't do Export and Import operations from the mentioned PC (which having Oracle 10g) to other two remote databases where they have Oracle 9i R2 database.

    OK, I have Windows 2000 Server and when I go to SQL*Plus and connect to my database, it's showing for me this:
    Connected to:
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
    JServer Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Also when I launch the OEM and goto Help-->About, it's showing the same version as above.
    But when I look to other things, it's like this:
    Oracle Home Directory: "C:\oracle\ora91"
    System Services "services.msc": "OracleOraHome91Agent", "OracleOraHome91TNSListener", and "OracleServiceREPORTS" (REPORTS is my Oracle database name).
    So how could I know what is my actual Oracle version?

  • How can I startup rman from OEM (for 10g)

    hi,
    I don't seem to see an option "RMAN". does this mean that rman features are simply integrated in the OEM?
    thanks

    If you mean Enterprise Manager Console (and not database control/dbconsole) ...Unfortunately it's even more confusing, what I meant:
    1) Enterprise Manager Console = java-based Enterprise Manager , in previous versions also known as DBA-Studio. This EM version is part of 10g client software,no longer available in 11g and higher. It has the 'look and feel' of pre-10g versions,can access many databases.
    2) Database Control/DBConsole = web-based Enterprise Manager,first introduced in 10gR1,can access its dedicated database only.
    3) Grid control = web-based centralized Enterprise Manager,separate software,monitors and administrates many target types,not only databases.
    Wernerok, I start up my Enterprise Manager Console (what you're referring to in number 1).
    it has a link to (Enterprise Manager 10g Console ) which seems to be what you described as number 2, because it goes to a web page.
    Oh God, these terminologies are so confusing!

    have any advice?

    Oracle 9 is out of support. Why are you using this version. You can install R/3 4.7 on Oracle 10g, and as per your problem have you installed oracle through setup.exe or Sapserver.cmd ?

  • OEM for 10g - Ten Steps Back!

    I'm not liking 10g so far... I need to do lots of table structure modifications and data updates. OEM for 9i made it so easy. OEM for 10g is forcing me back to the old days of using SQL*PLus to do most of what I need done.

    Hmmmm.....
    I'am not sure I agree with you.
    I don't think it is appropriate to measure the quality of a new rdbms release from it's client tools as the java based console actual is.
    You can make table structure changes with dbconsole and data updates can be done throgh isqlplus.
    However, If this is not enough, you might download the client distributives for 10g and use the java based console from this installation. As far as I can see, this is entire the same as on 9i.
    The way I see it, it is beneficial to separate a client tool like the java based console from the actual database installation home, as this tool is a client application.
    Agree?

    The Remote Desktop administrator software does not match the installed client software version.
    I tried removing the application and reinstalling it to no avail.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Issue in running a 9i version Page XML in 10g JDeveloper

    Hi
    In our 11i to R12 upgrade project we are trying to run our custom 9i version Page XMLs in 10g JDeveloper. We imported the JPR itself in 10g Jdeveloper and it did conversion while loading. But when we tried to run the pages we are getting
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OASlideMenuUtil.prepareNavAndFavList(Unknown Source) error.
    We found out that it is because of the missing "Navigation and Favorites options" that comes along with R12 version pages. We confirmed it by creating a new page in 10g Jdev and copy pasted all the regions from the old page to the new page. It is working fine. Now the doubt i have is,
    Wont 10g Jdev take care of this during the conversion of the Page XMLs and Java files? Or am i missing any big part here.
    Tried searching with keywords, tags but dint help. Kindly refer if you have any links or thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Praveen.

    This can be caused by the 'Function Name' attribute on the page layout region being NULL but with the XML tag still in the page XML i.e.:
    <oa:pageLayout id="PageLayoutRN" amDefName="xxjlp.oracle.apps.fnd.por.econtent.server.EContentAM" windowTitle="Portal Guidance Documents" title="Portal Guidance Documents" controllerClass="xxjlp.oracle.apps.fnd.por.econtent.webui.GuidanceDocSumCO" function="">
    Check the page you are forwarding to either has a valid value for 'Function Name' or ensure that this tag is removed from the page XML by clicking the 'Set to default' button on the component pallet toolbar.
    This is normally caused when a value was added by the developer then removed by highlighting the value and hitting delete.  This action keeps the tag in the XML file.  You should use the 'Set to default' button which will remove the tag completely.

  • Providing a Read-Only Version of OEM to App Developers

    Hello forum...
    In perusing OEM with one of our developers, he noticed when looking at Top Activity that one of his queries was using the wrong index and it helped him resolve a long-standing speed issue in his app. My dilemma now is that they want access to OEM, justifying such access by saying that it might help them resolve issues in all of their queries. They're bright people, but I've read horror stories of people accidentally dropping tables through OEM. I'm paranoid enough about my mouse movements and keystrokes without having to worry about what our developers might do by accident.
    Is it possible to provide a read-only access version of OEM to my developers, more specifically to access to functions under the "performance" tab? if so, what roles and privileges should such a user have?
    Many thanks in advance...
    Dan

    You could grant view only as stated, but that just for OEM functionality.
    To allow developer access to the Performance page, we followed the doc from Metalink:
    How to: Grant Access to non-DBA users to the Database Performance Tab
    Doc ID: 455191.1
    Instead of granting OEM_MONITOR role, the following roles/privileges can be assigned directly to the user:
    Roles:
    ->CONNECT
    ->SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
    System Privileges
    ->ANALYZE ANY
    ->CREATE TABLE
    Profile
    ->DEFAULT

  • Upgrade the Essbase Client from Version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on LINUX 64 BI

    Hi All,
    Can any one please let me know the process to upgrade the Essbase Client from Version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on LINUX 64 BIT Server. Is it possible to upgrade the essbase client alone or do we need to upgrade the Essbase Server as a whole? Also, does Essbase upgrade is possible from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on LINUX ?
    If Essbase client upgrade is not possible, can you please tell the list of Files that need to be download to Install Essbase server V 11.1.2.2 on LINUX.
    Thanks
    Reddy

    Have a read of the following doc in Oracle Support - "How to Install the Essbase Client Tools MaxL and ESSCMD on a Planning Server Installed on Unix Server [ID 1477705.1]"
    I know the title of the doc is not exactly the same as the question but it gives you an idea of the process based on 11.1.2.2, the easiest solution is probably to apply the maintenance release to upgrade from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2
    Cheers

    ThanksYou won't be able to get 10.2.0.4 anything without a paid support contract, as 10.2.0.4 is an upgrade patch from the the base 10.2.1.0.
    Plus, it is not certified/supported on Windows 7.
    Plus, if your Windows 7 is any "home" edition, no oracle product is certified on it.
    Why do you need this specific version of the client?
