Client tools Installation vallidation
Hi guys,
In my company they newly installed BODS 3.2 SP3...Iam new to admin...Now they are asking to write a validation document to check all users are gud with all installation(I mean developers).
we installed BODS designer, DB2, Oracle database and we created job servers, repositories and granted permission as of now.
Pls any one guide me what type of care i should take to validate the client tools installations.

As long as you can open the designer, connect to the repository, edit a job and save, it should be all good. I guess you are going to be using a central repository, so you should start by checking in an object, importing to your local repository, changing and then exporting back to the central repository.

Any idea ?By Client Tools I mean Administration Tools, ODBC Driver and so on (all components included in OBI Client Tool option in OBI installation wizard)...
Just for your information , when I try to install OBI Client tools (same option in the wizard) in version 10.1.3.3.1 on the same windows platform, it works very well !!! -
Client Tools installs per SQL Server 2012
Is there a maximum allowed install of Client Tools per purchase of SQL Server 2012? I believe we have Enterprise but may have Standard. SQL Server Management Studio Express is not sufficient because of the SSIS limitations. Thanks!
matters is the license to connect to the server SO provided that the server I was connected
to had a CAL assigned to me or it was CPU licensed then all is well, as the client tools aren’t licensed themselves

In short client tools are free as long as they connect to core components of SQL Server – the Database Engine and the Reporting, Integration and Analysis Services – which has correct licensing. -

We are using BO Edge 3.0 version, is it possible to install universe designer in a client PC and connect it to the server repository?
I know u2018BusinessObjects Enterprise Client XI R3u2019 client tool is available to address this requirement in BO enterprise product but is there an option for Edge series?
Does BO Edge 3.1 series have client tool installation?

there is no difference between Edge and Enterprise regarding the Client/Server Tool separation. Your client tools are in both cases part of the server download package.
After unzipping the files, there ought to be some folders which include the files of the client tool installation. The Universe Designer is also part of the Edge Client tools.

PowerCenter - Installation and Configuration (9.0.1 for OEL Linux 64Bit)
This article talk about the installation of PowerCenter from Informatica on:
• Oracle Entreprise Linux 64 bit version 5 Update 5
• Oracle Database 11gR2
After you complete the installation and configuration process, you have to log in to the Administrator tool to create and configure the following services:
• PowerCenter Repository Service
• PowerCenter Integration Service

Set the storage size for the tablespace to a small number to prevent the repository from using an excessive amount of space.
Also verify that the default tablespace for the user that owns the repository tables is set to a small size. The following example shows how to set the recommended storage parameter for a tablespace named POWERCENTER_DAC.

Environment Variables
Use LANG and LC_ALL to set the UNIX code page for the installer.
File Descriptor
Informatica service processes can use a large number of files. Set the Linux - File Descriptor limit per process to 3000 or higher.
In the file /etc/security/limits.conf, add this line:

powercenter hard nofile 3001
powercenter soft nofile 2500
And verify with the ulimit function logged as the powercenter system user account:

Note:The limit is set to 3001 to prevent an error with the value 300 during the prerequisites check

The creation of the repository can take maximum 2 minutes.
If you don't see the creation of tables in the POW_REP schema:
• close the browser,
• connect again to the administation console and go through the configuration button in the left upper side
If it doesn't work
• give the DBA privileges to the oracle database account POW_REP
• and try to create it again

Installation of SQL Server 2008 failing - Client Tools
Hello,
I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Client Tools on a machine that already has SQL Server 2005 (Full install). I select "Client Tools Connectivity" "Client Tools Backwards Compatibility" "Client Tools SDK" and "SQL Client Connectivity SDK". During installation, I receive this error message "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file E:\x86\setup\x86\sqlncli.msi". The installation then fails. Is the older version of sql native client interfering with the new install? Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!!

When I went to remove the items that did get installed from Add or Remove Programs, I got the following error:

OBIEE Installation and configuring Client tools.

I have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and oracle 11g on Linux machine, and my client tools are installed on my local machine.
So know i need to configure both, suppose i have created a rpd file on my local machine and i want to create analysis in my OBIEE web console in Linux machine.
Actually i am quite new to OBIEE, so if you guys elaborate this step by step it would be helpful to me.

BusinessObjects 4.1 Sp2 Client Tool setup Installer will not Start

Have installed BOE 4.1 sp2 server platform on a virtual machine running on Windows Server 2008 R2. When I tried to install the Client tools, I execute the setup.exe program, it launches the run, when I click on runs, nothing comes up.
Any suggestion I will really appreciate it.
ThanksOK. I think I may have misled you. We tried installing BI4.0 on SQL Server 2012 and that didn't work (not supported according to the Supported Platforms documentation). I just looked at the Supported Platforms document for BI4.1 and it shows the Client Tools should be supported on Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012.
I'll try installing them and let you know. We would like to have them on the server also. -

I just downloaded the client tools package from https://support.sap.com/swdc --> Installation and Upgrades --> A-Z list --> SAP ADAPTIVE SERVER ENTERPRISE --> SYBASE ASE 15.7 --> Installation --> Microsoft Windows --> 51044415.zip
I'm trying to install the client tools for a newly provisioned Windows 2012 64-Bit machine. After unzipping the folder and running autorun, the installation does not proceed. When I go to pcclient64 and run either setup.exe or setupConsole.exe, I get the error "This Application has Unexpectedly Quit, Invocation of this Java Application has caused an InvocationTargetException. This application will now exit. (LAX)". I stumbled across various posts on the forum, and it appears that the installer is not certified for Windows Server 2012. I tried using the compatibility mode for Windows 7, and it proceeds further and launches the SAP GUI; however, it closes afterwards.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Hi,

You are using a version that was not certified with Windows 2012. Get the most current version PC-Client 15.7 SP130 or SDK 15.7 SP130 or SP132.
If your looking for PC-Client5.7 SP130 look for EBF23439
We didn't get certified with Windows 2012 until SDK 15.7 ESD#6 even with that I reported a few minor issues.
You need the following on the machine before the installation.
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) (or dsedit and ocscfg will not work)

I have downloaded the "SBOP Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 ServicePack 4" files from the SAP Support site (ENTERPRISECLNT04_0-10007619.exe).
When I run the EXE - it unzips the files for about 10 minutes and then starts the install - but quickly throws the error below...
"The update installation cannot proceed because either the target product is missing or is not the correct version for this update. Verify that the product to be updated exists on your system and you have the correct patch."
Anyone seen this error before - and know the fix...?

This error may show up if have installed the client originally from the Server build, or the other way around. You may check the registry, if it has key codes for the enterprise it means the client was installed by the server build.
I have installed BOXI 3.1 sp4 clients on several machines no issue.

BOE XI 3.1 Client Tools
During the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 instllation ->Install Type, I selected:
"New" and "Install MySQL Database server". Also check the check-box "Enable server upon installation"
Then continue with the installation. Completed succesffully.
This also means I have installed all the client-tools (Web Intelligent, Desktop Intelligent etc) on the server.
Now if the user need to the access to Webi and create and publish the query into CMS, how do they actually access to the WEBI?
Do we need to install the WEBI again on each of their machine?

1) Use the web-based version of WebI. Your users will be able to create and view WebI reports using their internet browser.
If I am using this option, that's mean I dont have to install the Webi Rich Client on each users workstation as I have already install them on the BOE Server. All the user need to do is basically logon to BOE InfoView, then create and publish the Webi document on the BOBJ repository and the rest of the user can access them, correct?
2) Deploy the WebI richt client on the user's workstation. This stand-alone client tool allows you to develop and view WebI reports. You can then export the reports to the BOBJ repository and thus make them available for your report consumers, ho will use their browser to view the report (Option 1)
If I choose this option, I still install the Webi Rich Client form the BOE XI 3.1 (Server/client) software , but during the Install Type step, I choose Custom or Expand Install, correct?

BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3 Connection Error
Hello everybody,
I installed BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 on the server, the server has Windows Server Enterprise 2007.
Locally, in my Laptop, I installed the BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3, but i can´t connect with the CMS using the Webi, or anyother tool to the server. I made everything that is in the administrator, installation and configuration guides, but reading the administrator guide for Query as a WebService I read that if you install the BusinessObjects Enterprise Tools you need a key license to us it, the question will be this.
Do i need a different license than the one what i use to install the BusinessObjects Enterprise on the server to install, connect and use the BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3 on every machine that i install and use for it????
Thanks and regards.You do not need separate or additional license for the Client Tools.
Most often Client tools cannot connect to server components because :
1. CMS server is not running on the server
2. There is a firewall between Client machine and the server machine and firewall specific settings were not done. (Admin guide - working with firewalls section).
