Client wants to replace his PRI with Skype

I have a client that has a Cisco UC540 that is using a PRI with 23 channels of voice and wants to keep 9 of his DID's.  He is wanting to know if Skype can do this and how much is the cost.  Is there a Skype sales team that I can contact to go over pricing and specifics?

I know what he can get PRI wise, it is that just he wants options before he makes a decision.  The PRI provider is actually giving him a great deal so that is not the question.  The question is, with a SIP trunk, is everything still available such as DIDs, rollover, ect and has anybody set this up on the UC5xx successfully?

  • Client wants to upgrade his 'academic' version?

Client wants to upgrade his FCP Studio 5.1.4 to 7.x, but he's got an Academic version.  Which Apple Store says they don't upgrade.  Does this mean he has to buy a complete new Academic version?
My assumption is yes.  But I'm always wary of my assumptions.  I'm going to see if I can find the 'Academic' price listed somewhere...

Ya know... here is what it says in the license agreement... (though this is from the apple's website's list of EULAs and not specifically from a EULA from any Academic version you may have bought (the apple website says that too)) -- (wow!  that was small!!)
http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/finalcutstudio2.pdf  Do a Command-F and search for academic... comes up 9 times the three below and again in two other languages.  Does anyone really know where it says you CAN'T upgrade academic versions??  Even if you still fall under the academic umbrella?

  • I synced my iPhone to my husband's computer and it wiped out his iTunes account replacing his content with the content of my iTunes account. Any idea how to fix this?

I synced my iPhone to my husband's computer not knowing that it would wipe out his iTunes account and replace his content with mine. Obviously, not good. Any ideas on how to fix this??

Syncing an iphone should have no effect at all on the content of the computer.
Are you saying the the itunes library on the computer was effected?

I love my iPad Air. However, you may want to give the idea of using it to replace a full-fledged PC some thought. If your primary uses are websurfing, email. writing, reading, light photo editing, it will be fine. Other things may not work so well on an iPad.

  • I have an ipad, and want into replace my laptop with it. Is there a way of running iTunes from my ipad to allow me to put music onto my old ipad classic without the need for a computer.

Please help me on this issue. I have the latest full size ipad with retina display and want to replace my old hp laptop with it. I currently run an iPod classic and nano from the iTunes on it, but i want to run them off my ipad. Is this possible.

The iPad is not a computer, it cannot replace one, and it cannot sync music or media to other devices.
You need to keep a computer around if you want  to sync ther Classic and Nano. It may also be useful if you ever need to backup the iPad in case a restore is necessarry.

  • Want to replace stock HDD with a 256GB SSD, have questions.

    Hi All,
I am sure this has been asked a bunch of times, so forgive me if I ask again...
I have a late 2010 MBP (Model A1278).  Currently the machine has 4gb of memory and a 256gb hard drive on it.  The machine is starting to show its age and is slowing down considerably, so I was thinking of upgrading the memory to the max allowable 8gb, and swapping out the HDD with a nice 256gb SSD.  What I am looking to find out is if I have daily time machine backups, can I just swap out the drives, reboot the machine into recovery mode and then select a TM backup to restore to this new drive?
My main concern with all of this is that I have been reading stories of people having to first create a partition on the SSD, then transferring over the TM backup, but I am not sure how I would set a partition when the drive itself is internal... Do I need to get an enclosure?  Is there some other easy way to accomplish this?  Is it even necessary?
    My ultimate goal is this:
    1. Open laptop
    2. Replace memory
    3. Replace hard drive with SSD
    4. close laptop
    5. Boot Laptop into recovery mode (Command + R)
    6. Restore from Time Machine Backup
    7. Select backup date
    8. Restore finished.
    9. Reboot Laptop into normal boot mode
    10. Enjoy a slightly faster laptop
    Thank all!!!

Unless you purchase your SSD from OWC your drive will have to be partitioned first. The OWC SSDs I've bought have already been partitioned and formatted for the Mac. Either way, unless you have another boot drive, you'll have to boot your computer with Internet recovery since you won't have a recovery partition until you've install the operating system. Here's how I've swapped out my hard drives for SSDs
place the SSD in an enclosure
I've always had an enclosure or bought one when I got the SSD so I could make the old internal drive into an external drive.
I typically use this new external drive as a clone backup for my computer
run Disk Utility to partition the drive
The trick is to delete the current single partition
Then click on the + symbol to make a new partition (GUID)
    Format the drive
Download and install OS XThis will create the recovery partition
Swap out the SSD for the old HHD and reboot
While the computer boots put the old HHD in the external enclosure and plug it into the computer
Go thru the new owner setup and when asked if you want to setup the new computer say yes and choose the external as the sourceYou could also use the TimeMachine backup as your source but I find this is a bit slower than using the external drive
Depending on what software you have you may need to enter some serial numbers.

  • Just want to replace some video with photos, but LEAVE AUDIO THERE. No way?

Is there no simple way to just replace some video with other video or photos, but not affect audio? I have an interview, and they're talking about places, and I want to put in photos of the places. Pretty basic stuff.
    Thanks for whatever help...

OK, yeah, CUTAWAY. But, I have the audio "purpled". Should it be? And my photo is sitting ABOVE the place where I want it. How do I get it to go down where it's supposed to? I really need a step-by-step here. I see how to manage the duration of the cutaway, but I don't see how to actually get it INTO the track, and how to "un-purple" the audio track.
    Thank you!

my sons ipad uses my user name (i have an ipad and iphone). i want to set his ipad up with his own username and password.  How do i do that, and can it be done without losing any of his apps, music or video?

    Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
To clarify, the mere act of changing the Apple ID on the device will not remove any content. But you cannot update the apps or re-sync them if they get deleted without the old Apple ID. It may be best to download them again with the new ID.

  • ITunes wants to replace IPod contents with New Laptop Library

Help please guys. Please bear with me while I will try and explain what my problem is.
Purchased new laptop, loaded ITunes, authorised laptop as the 3rd of my 5 allowable computers, then finally transferred all purchased content to my Laptop via my IPod. I have since purchased various TV shows and songs off ITunes to my Laptop ITunes library. I have only now tried to sync my IPod for the first time with my Laptop and noticed that ITunes did not sync this new content. I then discovered that the reason for this may have been due to all the sync options were unchecked for all the media types which would explain why nothing happened.
Simple, I thought. I would check all the media types for sync and end of. No such luck. Each time I checked the option to sync any of the media type; a message would appear to warn me that the contents of my IPod would be replaced by the contents of my ITunes library. This I do not want. I wish to keep all my purchased content held on both my laptop and my IPod. Isn’t the point of synchronisation to update both the computer and IPod making sure both devices contain the same up-to date media irrespective to the contents of either.
Am I missing something really simple here or are these things made deliberately difficult?
    Any advice would be appreciated
    Thanks –tred3

I am pretty much useless with tech. I have a 80g ipod classic and want to buy a new 64g touch. When I do this will I just be able to hook up my new ipod to itunes and sync my existing library. Also will my old itunes purchases of music and video be able to be used on my new ipod.
    TY

When I do this will I just be able to hook up my new ipod to itunes and sync my existing library.
    Yes.
Also will my old itunes purchases of music and video be able to be used on my new ipod.
Yes. Everything you've bought on iTunes other than games designed for the iPod classic can be used on the iPod touch.

  • I have an airport extreme. I just bought a time capsule and want to replace the extreme with it. I am not technically savy and when i go to do it, it keeps telling me i haev errors and i have no idea what to do,  because it mentions things like DNS, etc

can i use both at the same time?

Replacing your router is like a heart transplant for your network. Everything changes.
Power down your modem, disconnect your Extreme, and connect the new Time Capsule. Power up the modem and then the TC.
AirPort Utility will lead you through its setup.
You may need to reconfigure your wireless printers and anything else that was a client of the Extreme.
You may use both at the same time, but only one device should function as your router. Decide which one that will be - it doesn't really matter which, assuming they are both recently produced units. The Extreme can be used to "extend" the TC's wireless network, or the other way around.

    Hi,
Check the boot priority in the BIOS. Make sure that DVD is not the first boot option. It looks like when you swapped the DVD for the hard drive it won't skip boot from DVD to the primary hard drive and stays on the DVD option but the DVD ROM is not there anymore and it finds the new hard drive. However, the operating system is on the primary hard drive which is a different boot option. It finds the new hard drive but because the OS is not there it says no bootloader because the bootloader is on a different hard drive.

  • My boyfriend's laptop died yesterday and I want to sync his phone with my mac (and back-up all of his data) but I don't want to lose all of his apps, photo's, etc whilst doing so. Is this possible?

My boyfriend's laptop died yesterday and I was hoping to be able to back up all of his data (photos, contacts, so forth) from his iPhone 4 onto my mac, but I don't know how to do it without completely erasing all of his data? Is it possible? If so, how can I do it?
    Any help is appreciated!!
    Thanks

Just an FYI, your purchases from iTunes are associated to your Apple ID. So Apps, Music, Videos, etc, that were purchased on the App Store/iTunes are freely available to him when using his Apple ID even after restoring (ie: by going to the Purchased tab in iTunes, etc). You can sync his contacts and photos to iCloud (or other free services).
