Clientless VPN remote file explorer

I'm hoping this is a simple one.  I recently upgraded our ASA 5505 to 9.1.(1).  We have several users that use the clientless VPN from their home systems, and require access to file shares.  I was hoping that the Remote File Explorer listed in the release notes would be an improvement, but I can't seem to find it.  Customizing the Portal, I've enabled "File Server Shares" under applications, but enabling/disabling it seems to do nothing.  "Network drives" is the same old interface.  File Server Entry and Browsing are enabled.  I've also checked the plugins downloads, but I don't see anything that looks right.  What am I missing?

You need to know the IP address of the server on the other side of the VPN.
Network auto-discovery protocols tend to not work over VPN connection (generally you don't want the overhead of the discovery protocols going over the VPN link).
Once you know the IP address of the server, though, you can mount that server via the Finder's Go -> Connect to Server. Once logged into the server you should be able to use the normal Finder actions to navigate the network share.

  • Disable ASA Clientless VPN Application Customization Help File

    I am trying to completely disable ASA Clientless VPN Applications help files. Is there a way to do this?

    Windows 8 clientless SSL VPN is officially supported as of 9.0(2) and 9.1(2) codes:
    Clientless SSL VPN: Windows 8 Support: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa91/release/notes/asarn91.html
    Maybe upgrading your code will fix it...

  • CISCO ASA Clientless VPN Host Scan

    Hi All
    We open up Internet Explorer 8 on local PC, then we are connecting using clientless vpn to a CISCO ASA 5520 8.0(4), we are getting an issue with the local internet explorer browser closing after 20 mins. The content accessed from the VPN is still available but all local Internet Explorer processes are terminated.
    When i look at the hostscan.log i get TOKEN_SUCESS followed by TOKEN_LOGGEDON for the first 20 mins. After 20 minutes i get TOKEN_INVALID  followed by the browser kill command which is closing internet explorer. This is effecting all users. If i close the SSL VPN completly the same issue occurs after exactly 20 mins. The session below was started at 14:23:34 and we recieve TOKEN_LOGGEDON at 14:45:50 but TOKEN_INVALID at 14:46:50.
    Hope someone can help?

  • Clientless VPN / Custom Portal Pages by source address

    ASA 8.4, Clientless VPN
    Can you think of a way to present varying experiences (Portal Pages) to clients depending on source IP address?
    So, clients emanating from a.b.0.0/16 would see Portal Page X, clients from c.d.0.0/16 would see Portal Page Y, and all other clients would see Portal Page Z?
    --sk

    If you have not found the solution.   Please look at the following in ASDM
    Configuration > Remote Access VPN > Clientless SSL VPN Access > Portal > Customization
    Edit your Customization File, Under the Portal Page and Toolbar ensure that the 'Display toolbar' is checked off.

  • Can't Access One of My Network Computers via Windows (File) Explorer

    I've just installed a new router (Linksys EA3500 Dual Band) to replace my old (Linksys WRT100), but can't imagine how that could cause this trouble, except that prior to installing the new router, all worked properly.  I have three Workgroup computers
    on my network, one running Win 7 Ultimate 64bit (call it Tower-755, an older laptop upstairs running Win 7 Pro 32bit (call it MommaDell), and a super laptop running Win 7 Pro 64bit (Call it M6600).  On Tower-755 I have a mirrored Raid1 drive - call
    it Z: - that I share over the net (i.e. Everyone = Read/Write).
    Since installing the new router, when I open File Explorer on M6600 or MommaDell, I can see - in the search pane (under Network) - all three computers, and when I click on MommaDell, its shared folder is accessible, but when I click on Tower-755
    I get an error saying, "Windows cannot access
    \\Tower-755, yet I can ping it successfully from a command prompt.
    However, when I open File Explorer on Tower-755, although I can see all three computers in the search pane (under Network), I can't access any of the three (including Tower-755 itself); I get the same error message, although I CAN ping them from a command
    prompt.
    Also, and I'm not sure if this related, in the search pane under HomeGroup on all three computers, I can only see MommaDell.
    I've checked and double checked all my router settings, including the IP Address range (192.168.1.2 - 51).  I also have a Domain Controller server with two joined workstations on the net, so I have a static IP in order to be able to access the server
    and/or workstations remotely when we travel.
    That's my story and I'm stuck with it, but I'd sure be grateful for any help with this mess.

    Hi Capt,
    In order to help you analyze your issue, we need confirm some situations.
    1. Did these 3 computers all join the same HomeGroup or Workgroup?
    Yes
    2. Domain Controller server with two joined workstations you mentioned, did it mean two of these 3 computer joined the domain environment?
    No.  Those are separate computers in their own domain, just using the same network.
    3. Did you ping via IP address or computer name?
    Both, but this morning something is different.
      a.  MommaDell and M6600 can ping each other both by IP and Name, but can't ping Tower-755 either way.
      b.  Tower CAN ping both MommaDell and M6600 both ways.
    According to your description,
    Tower cannot ping MommaDell and M6600.
    No, Tower CAN ping both MommaDell AND M6600 both by ip and name.
    MommaDell can ping Tower.
    M6600 can ping Tower.
    Both of the above was true yesterday, but not this morning.
    Please check if MommaDell and M6600 could ping each other.
    Yes they can
    And make sure all of them turn on the network discovery and turn off the firewall temporarily for test:
    Network Discovery is ON in all three machines, and Windows firewall is always off because I have ZoneAlarm on all three machines.
    Enable or disable network discovery
    Which?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/enable-disable-network-discovery#1TC=windows-7
    If it doesn't resolve, please post every computer's ipconfig /all output here for analysis.
    it's 7:30 and I have to be out until 2:30.  I'll do the posting then, and thanks for the help.

  • Envy 17-j020us, cannot cut/copy and paste within file explorer

    I can cut/copy and paste url's and text from word, etc, but I am unable to cut/copy and paste files within file explorer windows. I have tried running malwarebytes and virus programs. HP support has tried remote access to find the problem unsuccessfully. Is there any other option besides doing a factory reset or restore point? Thanks in advance for any help.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi jdavis33811,
    Have you tried all three methods of cutting and pasting? Using the keyboard shortcuts CRTL-X and CTRL-V, right click the file and selecting cut and then using the file explorer ribbon / File menu.
    If you have tried all three the next thing to try is a Clean Boot to see if something is in the background blocking the command. A clean boot loads Windows with minimal software and drivers. This Microsoft Support link will show you how to do it.
    Once you have performed the clean boot try all three methods of cutting and pasting. If it works the next step is going back to msconfig (see Microsoft link above) and enable half of the services you shutoff to do the Clean Boot. Then try cutting and pasting again. Keep enabling half of the remaining services until you can't cut and paste then disable half of the services you just enabled. Do this until you pinpoint what service caused the issue.
    If after all that you are still having a problem then the next step would backing up your files onto an external hard drive or USB flash drive and then doing a full System Recovery.

  • Offline Files (Background) Sync makes File Explorer and other programs responding slow

    Hi TechNet,
    I have a problem with Offline Files and
    especially with VPN users.
    For VPN users, the slow-link
    policy is activated with a background
    sync interval of one hour. But, when Offline Files is syncing, their File Explorer is hanging (not responding) by creating new files/folders, deleting files/folder, or rename files/folders. This happens only in their (redirected)UserData
    folder or with other DFS shares which are cached locally. In other programs (Outlook or Office 2010) when they save data in the UserData folder exactly the same things happens (not responding).
    This problem occurs in both the
    internal network and via VPN, so bandwidth is
    not the problem. When the sync is finished, everything is working fine again.
    I've tested:
    - Offline mode with scheduled background sync: problem occurs
    - Online mode with manual sync: problem occurs
    - Rebuild offline cache database: no effect
    - Tested with fresh Windows 8(.1) installations and user profiles: problem occurs
    - Monitoring SMB traffic with WireShark: no result
    - Montoring Windows 8(.1) clients with procmon: no result
    - Tested with full DFS paths: problem occurs
    - Disable IPv6: problem occurs
    - Disable Windows Search: problem occurs
    - Browsing in the Offline Files folder (Sync Center -> Manage Offline Files -> View Offline Files) is very slow (with +- 200 files). This occurs also when Offline Files is not syncing.
    Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Bas

      Hello Steven,
      First, sorry for the late response, I have tested a few things for you:
    Offline mode with background sync over a VPN connection: During scheduled sync File Explorer hangs. When bypass the cache by using a UNC path (State: Online) there is also a delay, but this is caused by bandwidth.
    Online Mode with Manual Sync over a LAN connection: During sync File Explorer hangs in (redirected)UserData Folders (They are always available offline, maybe this is a problem?). With UNC paths, there is no delay…
    The first folder/file is created slowly, but the second is fast.
    It's like csc
    still
    must initialize
    the cache…or something…
    I m  I made some
    print screens, but I can not upload them because my account is not verified.......

  • ASA Cannot access https device via Clientless VPN bookmark, site to site works fine

    We've got two offices connected via an IPSEC tunnel.  This site to site VPN works great, we can access our remote devices fine from a PC on either LAN at each office.  The device's address is https://192.168.210.2
    However, if we make a bookmark on the Clientless VPN for that same address the conneciton just times out if it has to go over the site to site VPN.
    We plugged the exact same web enabled device on the local side of the VPN, put in a bookmark for its https address and it works fine.  Its just remote bookmarks for devices on the other side of the tunnel do not work.
    Looking at the debug log I see the request going out from the source to the destination on port 443 but nothing more.  The NAT exemption etc are all right because people on the LAN have no problem accessing this device remotely with their browser.
    I haven't been able to adequately describe this problem to find a matching Cisco example, anyone know how to fix this?

    hi luis,
    thank you for your reply. we've checked the smoothwall configuration, but couldn't discover anything which could cause this problem. we even tried replacing the sa520 with a draytek vigor router to set up an lan-to-lan vpn with the smoothwall. with the draytek in place we have no problems accessing the aforementioned servers, so it seems the issue is with the SA520.
    what exactly do you mean by creating an ACL from the remote WAN to our LAN? i assumed you meant creating a firewall rule, allowing traffic from the remote device's public ip to our LAN. however, in that case i need to enter an ip address of a device in our LAN, or else i cannot save this rule. as a test i entered the ip address of my machine as the destination address, but am still unable to access the aforementioned servers.
    here's how i set up the rule:
    from zone: UNSECURE (WAN/optional WAN)
    to zone: LAN
    service: ANY
    action: ALLOW always
    schedule: (not set)
    source hosts: Single address
    from: public ip of one of the aforementioned servers
    source NAT settings > external IP address: WAN interface address (cannot change this setting)
    source NAT settings >WAN interface: dedicated WAN (cannot change this setting)
    destination NAT settings > internal ip address: 192.168.11.123 (ip address of my machine)
    enable port forwarding: unchecked
    translate port number: empty
    external IP address: dedicated WAN

  • File Explorer crash after Try Again regarding permissions when cut/paste folder

    This happens for me every time I've tried it.
    File Explorer crashes when performing a cut/paste operation from a
    network shared folder that doesn't have permissions to delete the
    folder/files.
    In a homegroup sharing situation, with a folder tree shared for the
    homegroup members to read, if I use File Explorer to cut/paste a
    sub-folder of the remote shared folder to a local drive, I initially
    get a prompt to Try Again
    "Folder Access Denied
    You need permission to perform this action
    You require permission from machinename\username to make changes to
    this folder
    FolderName
    Type: File folder

     ...and when I choose try again, Explorer crashes.
    Can anyone else repro this?

    Yes, I submitted the event with my bug report (using the awful

    Hello,
    I see that the public IP address you are using is not accessible from the outside at all, make sure that you are using the default port for this --> 443, also just to isolate this, enable the access of the clientless from your inside interface and try to access it by the inside IP address on your inside network:
     webvpn
      enable inside
    Try to open the clientless, it that opens it seems that you are having issues with the port on that case, either ways we can take a capture from the Outside IP address to the public IP address of the outside computer:
    capture CAP interface outside match tcp host <Outside_IP_ASA> host <Public_IP_COMPUTER>
    Let me know how it works out,

  • Offline Files - Where is the "Work Online" Button in File Explorer (when connected to company network)?

    I have windows 8.1 Pro.  I connected a network drive and was able to set up some of the contents as available offline.  When I connect to the VPN, however, and go into file explorer - for that drive, it indicates the state as "Offline (background
    sync)" and will not allow me to make other folders/files under the mapped drive as available offline or to open any of these.  How can I change this state so I am working online?  (Also, sync is not running).  Thank you for your help.

  • Asynchronous drag to file explorer

    Hello,
    I made a file upload/download application (ssh/sftp + metadata). My application shows a tree + a list of remote files. I'd like to be able to drag one from the list to a windows explorer.
    Alas, I can't see a way to solve this: how can I initiate a transfer in the background and drop the downloaded file to the target folder, without blocking the gui?
    Did a lot of search for this, but I guess this is a guru topic. Or is it infeasible?

    Well, I was hoping to be able to just use override TransferHandler. I didn't try further, because the overriden method has to return something ; creating a thread wouldn't return a result directly, so I know this isn't my solution.
    You said explorer should download the file... But how can I give a File object back to Explorer, if I didn't download it myself yet ?
    Here is my TransferHandler:
    private class FileTransferHandler extends TransferHandler {
    @Override
    protected Transferable createTransferable(JComponent c) {
    final File targetDirFile;
    try {
    targetDirFile = File.createTempFile("happypf", "tempdir");
    } catch (IOException exception) {
    throw new RuntimeException(exception);
    targetDirFile.delete();
    targetDirFile.mkdir();
    final List<RemoteFile> remoteFiles = getSelectedRemoteFiles();
    // this is my problem... I need to do something with those remoteFiles...
    Transferable transferable = new Transferable() {
    public DataFlavor[] getTransferDataFlavors() {
    DataFlavor[] flavors = { DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor };
    return flavors;
    public boolean isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor flavor) {
    return flavor.equals(DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor);
    public List<File> getTransferData(DataFlavor flavor) throws UnsupportedFlavorException, IOException {
    if (!isDataFlavorSupported(flavor)) {
    throw new UnsupportedFlavorException(flavor);
    return new ArrayList<File>();
    return transferable;
    //[... removed canImport / importDate for explorer->java, which work...]
    }

  • Bridge(CS3) conflict with Windows file explorer

    Bridge will crash on me at least twice a day. I use Bridge and Windows file explorer simultaneously copying and moving files across a network. When Bridge quits I sometimes lose my network connection and have a lot of trouble re-connecting.
    I have done the usual delete preference, trash cache etc., nothing seems to be working.

    Not sure what is going on there, but have a suggestion. You are increasing your odds of Bridge crashing, and trashing the cache, if you move too fast. When in Bridge wait for the spinning arrow in lower left corner to stop (it is building the thumbs) before changing folders.
    Don't see any correlation between network connection and Bridge crashing. Perhaps if you have a slow computer you are overloading it with tasks and it can not keep up. Minimize programs running at same time.
    Also, run task manager and see what the processor is doing. If CPU useage goes up markedly that will confirm the problem.

  • Not Working: BlackBerry Link Remote File Access Remove Old BlackBerry from BB ID

    I have: removed my blackberry q10 from blackberry link, wiped my q10, uninstalled and reinstalled blackberry link, have link version 1.1.1.32, blackberry q10 os version 10.1.0.2309 - which whenever I plug in the q10 after removing the device from link, says there is an os update, so I update it, and then it does nothing apart from rebooting the q10, or gives an error saying 'updates not available. Please check internet connection and retry.'.
    Also, I have Logout/login on blackberry link, I know my q10 is activated as I have purchased items from app world, and on the computer the app world site shows that I have a q10 when I sign in. I am using the same BBID and have changed the password on my q10 to see if that made a difference, then signed out and back into link on computer with updated password. I have administrator rights on my computer.
    I can access the q10 from my computer over the same wifi network, and it syncs files fine with wireless sync turned on. It is remote file access not giving the option to connect to my q10. 'BBID *email* isn't associated with a device running Blackberry 10 OS or an error occurred when trying to retrieve your information from the Blackberry ID servers.'
    The problem is that although I have the same blackberry id for link and my q10, no devices show up on the remote file access screen, and I cannot access my files on my computer from my q10, yet I can sync them on my computer over the wifi network. How can I enable Remote File Access?
    A problem could be that I have a Curve 9300 on my BB ID account, so if I could disable this (which I have no idea how to do after a lot of research), this might rectify why link cannot set up remote file access.
    What I haven't done is wiped my q10 and uninstalled all user data from link at the same time, as then I would have to manually reload everything on my q10.
    My q10 shows my computer in the settings\blackberry link\paired devices ,  but I 'cannot view files on *computer*'. Also, link does not show in the file manager. I set up my q10 as a permanent link not a one-off connection.

    No one cares because it's not a z10 (I know because I am having the same problem and no one knows how to fix it and no threads for q10 fix)

  • Error reading Remote file when the connection is slow

    I have a program that reads a file from a remote server. The file is an xml file.
    This uses URL inputstream.
    This works just fine but when the xml that it reads grow in size, the content of the file is not completely sent to the variable string.
    I have come to a conclusion that slow connection to the server could somehow cause this. The error is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
    I hope you guys could help me tune this code or if you have suggestions like other ways to read a remote file. Which will work even if the file grows bigger.
