Clip art and messy borders?

Hello all,
I upgraded from photoshop elements 6 to cs4. PE6 had quite a few clip art and various photo art enhancements, but I don't see any in cs4, but I know they must be somewhere in there. Can someone please direct me to the clipart. I would like to put fancy squigly border pieces on the corners of my photos and I would like to get some of the edging borders that surroung the photos that look like chalky borders. Please direct me on where to go

Going back many versions, there used to be sample images included. Cannot recall if these were dropped in PS3, or PS4. There were few, though there were some ClipArt items, IIRC (may be thinking of AI).
As John points out, there are tons of libraries available for purchase, and if you have MS Office, MS has a ton of both stock photos, ClipArt and similar available. Do not know if that is available without Office.
There are also many sites that have a lot of decent ClipArt, and much of it is free, or reasonably priced.
The one thing to consider is the exact format of these. Some are bitmapped line art, and some are in proprietary formats, like WordPerfect's Graphics format. Others are Vector art and can be disassembled and reassembled at will. This will be easier in AI.

I'm afraid you're looking completely in the wrong place. PS doesn't produce instant galleries, it is a full-blown professional image editing app. Hence there is no such thing as decorative borders, clip art and what have you. Of course al lof that can be added with PS in a million ways like patterns, shape brushes or by using text with dingbats, but it's not prefab stuff. And "easy" is very much a matter of perception and experience, but from what it sounds like, you wil lbe much happier with Photoshop Elements or similar products from otehr vendors...

Hi; I'm working on Grant's challenge and I was looking for clip art and photos to use. I searched for free ones but the sites I found are not places I want to go because they do not look like shady places. Any recommendations?

Adding Clip art and text

I am fine tuning my Premeire Elements Video and adding music, text and some clip art. I am using Premiere 8. When I add clip art and text it goes in fine but when I do a preview playback the text and or the clip art fanishes before the end of the clip. I have put in "time stretch" for the clip, is there any way to also lengthen the clip art and the text? I have looked and read but am not finding the answer. Thanks

Clip Art and Borders

Hi - Does anyone know if there is clip art available for pages and can you add a page border. Going Crazy!!!! Hope someone has the answer. Thanks

welcome to the Pages Discussions. You can use every clip art you can find if it is a EPS, PDF or PS file. Of course you can use bitmap files in JPEG, PNG or TIFF, too. Have a look at http://www.openclipart.org/.
You can insert a rectangle shape for every kind of border. Make sure the shape is a fix placed object (in the wrap inspector). Adjust it in size, position and appearance like you need it and send it to the back (menu: "Arrange"). If you need the border on every page, choose the menu item "Format/Advanced/Send Object to Page Master". If you need the border only on one page, you can lock it with the menu item "Arrange/Lock".
If you need a more art like border, you have to insert an image in the needed size and resolution.

When saving a document as a PDF for printing, I lose pages, clip art, and my orginal format. Help!

I have created some forms for our congregation to fill in with answers on adobe forms central. When I go to turn it into a PDF for printing for a hard copy, (not all our members have internet) when i save it to a PDF, it doesn't save all the pages and formats it differently then show on the screen i programmed it onto. How do I fix this issue?

The main thing to look at is the "View" setting and for PDF set it to "Page View", the page breaks you define in Page View will be used in the PDF, there are also "implicit" page breaks added automatically based on the page size.

Animated gif clip art and saving

I am working on an ad for a customer and they want moving parts on the ad. I have built the background and text in Photoshop Elements 11. I have two pieces of animated gif clipart to place on the ad. How do I save it so that the pieces of clipart still move after saving?

However, there is no way to create the entire ad in PSE, since PSE can't save it as an html file. You will need to build the ad itself using some kind of web software.
In PSE once you put the gifs into the ad you would have to save it in an image format and they would no longer be gifs, so wouldn't move.

Adobe Source for Photos and Clip Art

Does Adobe have its own source for clip art and photos that it's customers can use? If not can anyone recommend a good web site for such stuff (or is that not allowed under forum rules?), of course, preferably free.

I would like to freely add clip art in Full Edit Mode in PSE 5.0

I am new to Photoshop Elements. I have PSE 5.0 on a windows XP platform with service pack 3 installed. I want to be able to create flyers with PSE and would like to freely be able to add various types of clip art into my canvas. I know you can do this when you're creating slides, but I want to be able to do this in PSE full edit mode, not by creating a slide show via the organizer.
There are tons of clip art online and they have various file types too. I am also wondering if I can use any of the file types as well. The ones that PSE has for the slide shows are .png. But online I have seen .wmf, .mpf, .jpg as well. How can I incorporate all this clip art for use in creating flyers and/or logos by just starting with a blank 8.5 x 11 canvas in full edit mode?
Any expert help here would be greatly appreciated. I was able to do this using Word, but Word of course lacks the graphic quality and optionality of PSE greatly.

Thanks for your reply here Bob. I have read what you mentioned above and am not quite sure how to do it that way. What I have been doing so far is to find a clip art item somewhere, copy it to the clipboard, then bring it into PSE with the File-New-from clipboard command.
This will bring it into it's own space and Layer as a separate file on it's own. Then I select it, copy the selection to the clipboard once again, move over to my blank canvas which only has one background layer now, and paste it onto this canvas.
This seems to be working, but I loose the Vector graphic aspect of the clip art image because it converts it to a raster type of image now. So I have to be very careful in resizing it to not loose resolution and such.
I noticed when I go to create a slide show in PSE, I have access to the graphics palette where you can double click a piece of clip art and it goes right onto your slide and stays as a vector image. I can get to these images while in full-edit mode, but I have to use the file-open command and navigate to the right folder and then open one up into full-edit mode as it's own layer. But then once again, I loose the vector aspect and I have to go through the process of selecting it, copying it to the clipboard and then pasting onto my blank canvas.
I know that MS Word is no match for this product, but at least there I could easily add clip art to any flyer I am making without loosing the vector aspect. But I know that the quality is so much better here in PSE and that I just need to learn how to utilize more of its functionality and power. Hence why I am writing this post I suppose.
Isn't there an easier way to get clip art into your blank canvas in full edit mode without having to go through all this and/or without having to create a slide show to get access to this clip art pallete? And having to loose the vector aspect of the clip art is not so wonderful either. Did I buy the wrong Adobe application - Ha!
Should I be using Illustrator since I want to create flyers using clip art, type and effects?
My apologies for this long post, but I would really like to be able to utilize, if at all possible, PSE 5.0's full power to create great quality flyers using all these things.

Using iPhoto as a cross-program clip art manager

Since the iMedia Browser makes it easy to get media into other programs, I've thought about the idea of importing clip art into iPhoto so that it can be easily inserted into various other applications.
Has anyone ever used iPhoto in such a way? Would this be possible? Does anyone know of any stumbling blocks in such a set-up?
I'd be interested in hearing others ideas of thoughts? How would you organize the clips in iPhoto, tagging, albums, etc?
This may not even be possible, but iPhoto has such a great browsing environment, it would be nice to have commonly used clip art and graphics within iPhoto to ease it's integration into other programs.

There’s no reason whatever why thos wouldn’t work, as long as the images are in a format that iPhoto works with - and that’s any format that can open with quicktime.

I work for a school district and I'm looking for a clip art and photo object collection that allows you to either install it on multiple computers or share it over a network. A subscription site might also work as long as it allows 1 subscription to be used by multiple people. Any ideas? Is such a thing available?

Yes, I have been using the software that came with this printer and has been working great for 2 years however I couldn't print clip art, I asked the place that sold the plotter to me and they said with the software that came with the printer I could not print clip art and I had to formal an illustrator and recommended Adobe

Does Pages have any clip art?

I am trying out Pages after having used Word for last five years or so, but I am finding it very frustrating when it comes to clip art.
Does Pages come with any clip art? Is there any clip art out there especially for Pages?
Word has a lot of clip art and a very useful web page that works very smoothly with the Clip Art Gallery; Does Pages have anything similar?

Muz- I understand your approach. If you have access to both Word and Pages, maybe you could use the occasional Word clipart as an image inside Pages. I find Pages far simpler than Word when it comes to interating images into a body of text.
Hybrid solutions are no good, though. From within Pages, you can click "Pages, Provide pages Feedback" and request clipart in a future version. Good luck.
