Clip art in Photoshop elements 9

I just purchased Photoshop Elements 9, I was working with the trial for a few weeks and had to have it. I am new to this software but I am learning pretty quickly; I am designing a book cover for my wife using a photo I took and wanted to know if you can insert a clip art image. I am trying to add an image of angel wings to the photo. I have already added a new text layer and want to place the wings underneath the text, Any help with this would be great.
Thanks again.
MM

1) Open your main image in the Editor window and add text - you will have two layers in the layers pallet.
2) Open your angel image (File >Open then browse to image)
3) With both images in the project bin double click the main image to place it back in the Editor window.
4) Click the angel image in the project bin and drag it up into the main editor window - this will create a third layer.
5) Select the hand tool and hold down shift and drag the corner handles of the bounding box to re-size the angel image then move to position by dragging.
6) Save as a PSD or for jpeg Click layer >Flatten image >Save As.

  • How to prepare Illustrator logo art with Photoshop elements

I have designed a logo that will be used in a wide variety of print and web applications. It is made up of primarily vector art...outlined type and an icon. But I am using a photo as the background fill inside the icon shape.
What is the best way to construct the final art files so that I get optimum resolution of the leaf image for the largest applications (window signage) and efficient file sizes for the smaller applications (business card)? I want to provide the client with vector art (not jpegs or tiffs) and still have the photo be the appropriate resolution for a wide range of finished sizes for print and web.

    twob,
It is quite common to create a number of different files for different purposes.
Apart from different colour mode for print (CMYK/spot) and web/other screen uses (RGB), obviously print requires higher resolution, and web/other screen uses require raster files.
The resolution needed for web/other screen uses should be evident in each case.
The resolution needed for different print tasks depends on a number of things, including kind of printing.
In this connexion it is important to realize that the required resolution in print depends on size and viewing distance: if you view artwork that is twice the size at twice the distance, you will need half the resolution, in other words the same file size in pixels by pixels. You may say that the required file size (pixels by pixels) depends on the viewing angle.
This means that a billboard to be viewed at a large distance and a normal page may have the same file size; obviously, the file size for a business card may be smaller.
Apart from all that, it is possible to recreate a photo like the leaf as vector artwork in Illustrator, and have everything as vector. If you consider that an option, you may post in the Illustrator forum to get started, and/or look round for tutorials; specific ones may very well be sugested in the forum, probably by others over there; it is past midnight over here.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Clip Art/Graphics

    Hello,
I am taking an on-line digital scrapbooking class at my local community college.  We are using Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.  I have been trying to get help so that I am able to see the clip art that my class is using.  Yesterday before I uninstalled and then reinstalled my software, I could see the clip art/graphics but the ones with a blue triangle in the upper right corner would not upload.  My internet is working properly since I was on-line for my class.
After reinstalling my software, all the clip art/graphics are useable, but I do not have the collection like before.
Please can someone help me so I can keep up with my class.  Thank you in advance for any help that comes my way.
    Thank you again,
    Angela

Barbara, thank you very much. I really miss it. I have tested jalbum. It's great.
PSE 12 should also offer something like this.

  • Clip Art with Elements 11 ???

I have never used Photoshop products before.  I bought Elements 11.  My main purpose for buying it is to use my drawings to create color and black and white clip art to sell on my education web site.  Can anyone offer assistance?  I do have a scanner, to scan my drawings with.  THANK YOU!
    Stacia

If possible, scan your work as a tiff file. Also make a PSD copy as these can be opened, placed or dragged into other Adobe applications such  as Illustrator or In design.
Open your image in Expert Mode and use the menu:
    File >> Save As
Then choose PSD from the drop down file format menu.

This is what I am trying to do, but am not having any luck. I would a appreciate a step by step guide. I am using photoshop elements 6 on a mac OSX (ver. 10.5.8

This is user to user tech support for folks having issues with Intel-based iMacs. This is not any kind of Adobe product support. If you need help with an Adobe product I suggest that you look for that help at the Adobe website.

  • I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those clips in Organizer.  I can do that in Premiere Elements 12 and save them as "Projects" - but how do I get the divided clips back into Organizer?

I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those single clips into 2 or 3 separate clips, each shown separately in Organizer.  I can divide the clips in Premiere Elements Editor 12 and save them as "Projects" - but I can't find any way to get those divided clips back into Organizer.  Does anyone know whether that can be done?  Many thanks for your thoughts.

What about Google Drive? And just share the folder with the family members.

  • Photoshop Elements 3 - how can I make it work fast enough for 4' x 6' art?

I've had Photoshop Elements 3 for about 4 years and it does all I need to do with some art work, except that it slows to an unacceptable crawl when I work in large sizes, such as 300 dpi (or is it ppi?) at 4' by 6'.  I also use Fractal Painter 3 and need to use both of them.... I want to do artwork to be reproduced on canvas via giclee print, but presently, I'm told my work will only blow up to a size of 2' wide.   I have a Dell dimension 8300 Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz 2.99 Ghz. 1.50 GB of RAM; HOME EDITION vERSION 2002, Service Pack 3.  128 MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card.  I would so appreciate any help in how to make this computer run Photoshop Elements 3 fast enough and reliably at the larger file sizes.  Blessings and thanks for any help!   Oh, and I do use a Wacom tablet with it, in case that makes any difference.

To increase editing spped for larger file sizes with high resolution , Go to Edit>Preferences>Performance and increase the Cache
Levels value to maximum which is 8 .
Setting a higher cache level improves performance by speeding redraw times.
Refer this page to get some useful tips of how to increase performance of PSE. See if it makes any difference.

  • Photoshop Versus Photoshop Elements for Digital Art Creation and Layers

I'm using Photoshop Elements 10.    If I want to use Photoshop with digital art (paintings mostly) and want to do touch up work and move elements of paintings into multiple layers, what extra features does Photoshop have that would benefit this application?
And what features are in Photoshop Creative Cloud, and CS6, versus CS5?   I do want to save some money and CS5 might be quite sufficient for my amateur uses.

There is 16 bit and 8 bit, but probably will not make much difference.
Only you know what kind of art you are doing.  If Elements works for you I see no need to put out $700 for Photoshop.
Do some web searches like this one.  http://digital-painting-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

  • Photoshop elements 10 will not play uploaded video clips.  Only the sound for the clip is available.

The clips are playable with Quicktime or Windows Media Player.

You need Premier Elements 10 or 11 not photoshop elements.    Photoshop is for photos and general images; I doubt it can edit/play videos despite the core program elements are common to both applications.  They are marketed as joint programs by Adobe but most people opt for individual products AFAIK.

  • Photoshop elements 12 will not allow me to resize an art as it will not let me change the values in value boxes

photoshop elements 12 will not let me change the size values in pixels or ht and widlth, or resolution. How can I fix this?  I have used this many times in the past and it has worked fine, but not today.

That did not change anything. But think I may have discovered part of the
problem. I found that if I use the numbers on the top of my keyboard,
rather than the side, it will change the numbers. So may actually be an
issue with a defective keyboard. will try to address that. thank you for
your help. The problem seemed to be patched for the moment

  • I would like to freely add clip art in Full Edit Mode in PSE 5.0

    Hello,
I am new to Photoshop Elements. I have PSE 5.0 on a windows XP platform with service pack 3 installed. I want to be able to create flyers with PSE and would like to freely be able to add various types of clip art into my canvas. I know you can do this when you're creating slides, but I want to be able to do this in PSE full edit mode, not by creating a slide show via the organizer.
There are tons of clip art online and they have various file types too. I am also wondering if I can use any of the file types as well. The ones that PSE has for the slide shows are .png. But online I have seen .wmf, .mpf, .jpg as well. How can I incorporate all this clip art for use in creating flyers and/or logos by just starting with a blank 8.5 x 11 canvas in full edit mode?
Any expert help here would be greatly appreciated. I was able to do this using Word, but Word of course lacks the graphic quality and optionality of PSE greatly.
    Sincerely,
    Lee

Thanks for your reply here Bob. I have read what you mentioned above and am not quite sure how to do it that way. What I have been doing so far is to find a clip art item somewhere, copy it to the clipboard, then bring it into PSE with the File-New-from clipboard command.
This will bring it into it's own space and Layer as a separate file on it's own. Then I select it, copy the selection to the clipboard once again, move over to my blank canvas which only has one background layer now, and paste it onto this canvas.
This seems to be working, but I loose the Vector graphic aspect of the clip art image because it converts it to a raster type of image now. So I have to be very careful in resizing it to not loose resolution and such.
I noticed when I go to create a slide show in PSE, I have access to the graphics palette where you can double click a piece of clip art and it goes right onto your slide and stays as a vector image. I can get to these images while in full-edit mode, but I have to use the file-open command and navigate to the right folder and then open one up into full-edit mode as it's own layer. But then once again, I loose the vector aspect and I have to go through the process of selecting it, copying it to the clipboard and then pasting onto my blank canvas.
I know that MS Word is no match for this product, but at least there I could easily add clip art to any flyer I am making without loosing the vector aspect. But I know that the quality is so much better here in PSE and that I just need to learn how to utilize more of its functionality and power. Hence why I am writing this post I suppose.
Isn't there an easier way to get clip art into your blank canvas in full edit mode without having to go through all this and/or without having to create a slide show to get access to this clip art pallete? And having to loose the vector aspect of the clip art is not so wonderful either. Did I buy the wrong Adobe application - Ha!
Should I be using Illustrator since I want to create flyers using clip art, type and effects?
My apologies for this long post, but I would really like to be able to utilize, if at all possible, PSE 5.0's full power to create great quality flyers using all these things.
    Thanks again,
    Lee

  • Change color on clip art

With MS products you can change the color of a clip art item. Can you do it in Pages??? Or anything MAC?

You can't in Pages, but there are a lot of Mac graphics programs - Photoshop Elements, Photoshop, GraphicConverter, just for starters.
FYI: Apple Macintosh computers are referred to as Mac (capital M, small a, small c), not MAC (which is an acronym for the Media Access Control address of a networking device).

  • Clip art and messy borders?

    Hello all,
I upgraded from photoshop elements 6 to cs4.  PE6 had quite a few clip art and various photo art enhancements, but I don't see any in cs4, but I know they must be somewhere in there.  Can someone please direct me to the clipart.  I would like to put fancy squigly border pieces on the corners of my photos and I would like to get some of the edging borders that surroung the photos that look like chalky borders.  Please direct me on where to go
    Thank you!

Going back many versions, there used to be sample images included. Cannot recall if these were dropped in PS3, or PS4. There were few, though there were some ClipArt items, IIRC (may be thinking of AI).
As John points out, there are tons of libraries available for purchase, and if you have MS Office, MS has a ton of both stock photos, ClipArt and similar available. Do not know if that is available without Office.
There are also many sites that have a lot of decent ClipArt, and much of it is free, or reasonably priced.
The one thing to consider is the exact format of these. Some are bitmapped line art, and some are in proprietary formats, like WordPerfect's Graphics format. Others are Vector art and can be disassembled and reassembled at will. This will be easier in AI.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Trying to register Photoshop Elements 13

    Good morning,
Please help.  My digital photoshop scrapbooking class is in session tomorrow and need to be able to run my new program.  I have installed Elements 13. When I click on my software, I get the message Sign in is required.  Enter Adobe ID to register your product.  I click the Sign in Now. Then I  get the following please connect to the internet and retry.  I have done this process several times.  My internet is working just fine.  I have Xfininty/Comcast as my provider.
Please help.  I do not want to get behind in my class.  I started my class with Elements 12, which was not working probably.  I need access to the clip art.
    Angela
    Please help me.

I followed the steps until it stated to
Search the hosts file for entries that reference activate.adobe.com (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
I see the 127.0.0.1, but it is not labeled as activate.adobe.com.  It has 127.0.0.1     localhost
                                                                                                                      ::1               localhost
