Clip Marker Issue

I have 3 clips in the timeline in premier on different channels. I want to sync them.
I think I have the markers set up correctly, but I'm not quite sure. When I try to sync, the sync by clip marker option is greyed out.
Could this be an issue with the way I'm marking my clips? Is there a difference between marking the timeline and marking a clip?
Thanks!

Is there a difference between marking the timeline and marking a clip?
There is.  The Help file will contain the details.

  • Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere cs6?

Has the clip marker problem been resolved in Premiere CS6.  As of early July, it was not!  Navigating, synchronizing clips seems impossible.

Explain your problems with markers in this feature request form: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
Sorry, that's all I can offer you.

I'd just like to add my voice to the chorus here - namely that Marker functionality for CS6 is extremely lacking, and has made my workflow for various tasks much longer and more tedious.
In my case I'm trying to match professional footage of a concert with audience-submitted cell phone footage. The pro footage can't be synced with the non-pro footage via Pluraleyes because the cell phone audio is way too high to be analyzed properly. Hence I need to manually sync, which I can't do efficiently because I can't put clip markers on the pro footage once it's synced in pluraleyes and sent back into Premiere, because it only exists in a sequence.
I have no idea why Adobe would remove a function used daily by its editors, one that was simple and reliable, for no reason.
And what's puzzling is that there's been not even an acknowledgement of the issue from anyone at Adobe for 8 months.
This doesn't make any sense. Usually customer service from Adobe is much better than this. Why no action on this one issue?
BTW, if you want to add Clip Markers to clips in the Timeline, you can set a keyboard shortcut for that.

  • Fcpx - after selecting part of a clip, marking in and out, pressing the e key does not add it to the timeline.  what do I do?

At the Mac store they showed me how to select part of the clip, Mark in an out, and then use the key board shortcut, the E, to move back down to the end of the timeline. At home it refuses to do that. I can't even drag it down. I am using Snow Leopard, not lion. Can anybody tell me why I can't get the material down to the timeline except as an entire clip?

I was stuck in this exact same position yesterday, and wow was it ever frustrating. I can't remember the exact steps I stumbled upon to figure it out, but basically you need to create a "project" (not a "sequence" like you'd think - there is no "new sequence" command in FCP X) and that "project" will in fact be the sequence you are able to add your selections to.
The same real estate the sequence lives in is also where the "project library" lives, which will overtake your sequence if invoked - look to make sure the film reel icon at the bottom left of the screen is not active (blue). If it is active, click it to make the project libary go away.
I'm still struggling with FCP X as a long time professional FCP 7 user, and from what I've read this isn't uncommon. Best of luck getting past these fisrt few awkward hurdles and onto the actual editing (which, I have to say, so far I am having a hard time being precise or creative with).

  • APPCS5.5 Clip Marker Sync Question

    Very simple scenario:
Within Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, I inport (1) single video, minus audio.
I then import (1) audio track, completely not associated with the audioless video clip.
(For sake of this scenario, (1)video of gun shot - no sound, (1)audio clip of gunshot.)
I then open each of the two clips, respectively, in the Source Monitor window, slide the Time-Indicator
to where I wish my Clip-Marker to be placed, go up to Marker > Clip Marker > Set Other Numbered, and
proceed to enter, "0" for the maker associated with my video clip, and, "1" for the marker associated with
    my sound clip.
Ok, each Clip-Marker, on each clip, set perfectly where I need them, and it can be said that, each clip now, has at least one numbered
    Clip-Marker applied to it.
Next, I fully understand about the Merge option, and that, I can simply drag the one clip, and the Markers will go black when aligned.
However, I do not want to do it that way.
Instead, with Clip-Markers in place, I Marquee select both of the two clips, go up to Clip, in the Menu Bar, and choose, Synchronize.
Option box comes up, and as always, the option to Sync using "Markers", is greyed out.
    Why?

    Try using Unnumbered markers.

  • How to add "clip marker" to clip in sequence?

    Hi,
i need to add markers to clips in my sequence. In 5.5 i'd just select the clip in the sequence and then go Marker > Clip Marker > Set.  I don't see this option in 6, was it moved or removed?  Right now i have to add a few steps and double click the clip in the sequence to load it into the viewer and then add a marker and that's a complete waste of time.  Is this the only way to do it in 6?
    Thanks

    Thanks Ann,

  • Bug report: clip marker is placed incorrectly

    (filed)
    Product Version: 7.2.1
    Your operating system: Windows 7
    ******BUG******
Clip marker in audio clip is placed at incorrect location
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Highlight WAV audio clip in sequence, in this case bottom audio track below one other audio WAV clip and two video/audio tracks
    2. press M at desired marking point, as indicated by playhead
    Results:
Marker is placed to left (earlier) of the playhead by one frame, and I have seen it to the right (later) by one frame.
    Notes:
    1. Markers were placed correctly in the two of three  audio clips on top of this one in the sequence
    2. the misplaced marker cannot be deleted, although it can be selected.
    Expected results:
Place the marker at the playhead, not just nearby. Accuracy counts!

Replying to my own posting. The original example was optimistic.
In reality, placing markers on my audio clips to help with sync and maintain sync is like watching a blind person play darts... and sometimes the darts stick in places you can't even get them back out of.

  • Clip Marker Question

    Hello,
I am currently evaluating PP CS6 on my laptop (Win7) and am liking everything so far except for the removal of the Jog/Shuttle transport controls, but that appears to be a moot point now. I have played with JKL and the shift key and am trying to get used to it.
Anyways I can't seem to find how to add clip markers. The new sequence markers are very cool and love the fact that the comments can be displayed on the sequence. However in my workflow I add a lot of markers directly to clips so when I do a ripple trim the markers ripple with the clip and do not get out of sync as sequence markers will. For the life of me I have been trying to figure out how to add a marker to a clip in CS6. I work in 5.5 almost every day so I am rather stumped on how to add a marker to a clip in CS6. I hope I am just missing a keyboard shortcut or in a menu or something somewhere and that fea ture has not been removed.
I watched the marker video and see how they can be added to clips in Prelude however I want to add them to clips in PP.
    Thanks,
    Shane

Double-click a clip in a sequence or in the Project panel to add the clip into the Source Monitor and add a clip there, or go into the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog and assign a shortcut to the Timeline Panel item, Add Clip Marker.

  • Why are my clip marker comments disappearing?

I'm coming from Final Cut Pro, so part of my problem might be my workflow, but: Why are my clip marker comments disappearing? I log a lot of interviews and usually log the subject's responses in clip markers, but my comments are disappearing the second I select a different clip! Any reason why this might be? They stick around when I do sequence comments, but they disappear when I add comments to my clip markers when viewing in the source window. Thanks!

Jim, that's encouraging to hear. Unfortunately, I'm trying to run it on a mac (Lion). Are you finding that most complaints are coming from people running it on macs?
Believe me, I want to get behing Adobe, but I've restarted more than one project in Avid after finding Premiere super glitchy and inconsistent in it's behaviour.

  • Show clip marker names in Timeline

Not sure if this is possible but, does anyone know a way of displaying clip marker names in the timeline? Even if I could get them to show up in the canvas like timeline markers do, that would be great, but actually right next to the marker on the timeline would be ideal.

    Did I get you right?
I think we're still on different wavelengths. Using this screenshot as a reference:
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/19589/FCP%20Markers.png
The playhead is currently parked on Marker 4, which happens to be a Timeline marker (Aqua). Looking in the Canvas, there are 2 other markers in this sequence, one before marker 4, and one more after. There is also one marker on this screen, it's embedded in the clip (Red).
Noting that there are no clips selected in the timeline, at this point, if I were to press Option M, the playhead would jump to the previous timeline marker (Aqua).
However, if I were to select the "353 SA-Tag" clip, with the playhead in its current location, then press Option M, then the playhead would jump to the clip marker (Red). But even then, it's name and information wouldn't be displayed in the Canvas.
You've got me thinking too hard tonight!!

  • IMovie clips marked as rejected

I am in the early stages of learning how to use iMovie and seeking help/advice.
I have several events, that I edited to remove unwanted footage, "delete selected, then emptied the trash".
That operation appeared to go well except, when I now view these events, all the remaining clips are marked with a "red" bar and identified as "rejected" clips. Not sure if I did something wrong or not.
Note, I have not deleted these clips (I can still see them in the event folder within the finder).
What I want to do is remove the "red" bar and not have them identified as "rejected" clips.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciate.
Also, if anyone has thoughts on how I might have created this situation that would be great, since I do not want to do this again.
    iMovie '11
    OS X Lion

Well after playiing around with iMovie, I was able to answer my own question.
I selected the clips marked as "rejected", then clicked on the "unmark" tool (located in the dividing window between events and projects), which reverted them back to a "normal" state.

  • Marker Issue

I saw that adobe is already fixing the moving documents issue...
But another thing that is quite boring in this new update is that every time that I mark a text, I need to press the button again to mark the next sentence or the next paragraph...
I prefer that the marker continues marking the text until I give the command to switch it.
    Thanks.

I am quite sure it is..!

  • I need help regarding clip marks.

  • Clip Media Issue (canvas telling lies)

I posted about this a few days ago, but now I've discovered a few more things that may help somebody diagnose this. If I had to summarize my problem, I would say that the canvas is telling me lies about the sequence. Dirty dirty lies. It’s really difficult to explain exactly what my problem is, so bear with me while I go on and on and on.
Essentially, I’ve got two different cuts of my movie. There’s the one that I see in the canvas (“canvas picture”) and the one that the sequence says SHOULD be happening (“sequence picture”). When I use the playhead and the canvas, I get the canvas picture, which is what I have cut according to since it took me a while to realize this problem. When I just play my entire sequence without exporting it, I see my brilliantly edited canvas picture. When I do a number of things, I get the sequence picture. If I take a still frame from the sequence, it is from the sequence picture and not the canvas picture. When I expand my video tracks to reveal the thumbnail pictures, they are from the sequence picture. When I apply a transition, the handles or area under the transition is from the sequence picture then snaps back to the canvas picture as soon as the dissolve is over. Most importantly, when I export I end up with the sequence picture, which is very different from the canvas picture I so lovingly put together.
I had to import using capture now. (I know, I know, but I was in a time crunch and the horrible little dv camera I was using made FCP pitch a fit when I tried to log and capture) So basically after I imported I had RAW 1 and RAW 2. It separated itself because there was an intentional blank space on the tape. I didn’t touch the camera while I was importing. Why on earth do you need to know this? Well, RAW 2 isn’t experiencing this whole canvas/sequence disconnect. When I export my cut, the clips from RAW 2 are exactly what I cut them to be in the canvas picture.
RAW 1 is possessed, and unfortunately is also about 80% of my footage. I made a test sequence to show exactly how screwed up it is, and it’s much worse than I thought. I put the entirety of RAW 1 in a brand new sequence. I cut it at every minute mark, or as close to it as possible. (I guess since this is DV it isn’t exactly 30 frames/sec so the sequence recognizes that and it’s missing frames around the minute mark.) Anyway, I split RAW 1 at every minute but didn’t move the clips. I took a still frame from the beginning of each of these clips. I then painstakingly aligned the end of the still frame with the canvas picture frame that it corresponds to. Make sense? I’m going to attempt one of those dot and dash diagrams to show you.
    V2 ---------|sss|-------------------------------------
    V1 |------------|(C)|--------x|C|---------------------|
Okay. So C on v1 is the first canvas picture frame after the arbitrary split denoted by x. sss is the still frame taken at this point which is taken from the sequence picture. In a normal universe sss would be the same frame as C, but with my luck sss is actually the same as (C), a frame from earlier in the clip.
Make sense now? I hope so, because it gets weirder.
As I did this at every minute mark in RAW 1, (C) got further and further away from C. So at 01:00:00;00 C and (C) are the same.
    If C is at 01:01:01;00, (C) is at 01:01:00;12 so it’s 18 frames off.
    If C is at 01:14:00;00, (C) is at 01:13:51;21 so it’s 8 seconds 9 frames off.
If I was good at math I could probably write a math equation describing how proportionally off the sequence picture is from the canvas picture.
Once again, this is not an issue with RAW 2. I did the same test with RAW 2 and the still frames aligned with the cuts. RAW 1 and RAW 2 were imported at the same time from the same tape and the same camera. Neither of them have been offline since I imported and I have never had to reconnect them.
In short, WHAT IS THIS???? HOW DO I FIX IT????? WHY ME????? (Please excuse the yelling. I’m a little frustrated.)

Hooboy! Sounds like you got a mess.
If you select the clip and hit Command 9 does the info tell you anything weird?
framerate and codec are what they're supposed to be?
Does the clip have to render in the timeline?
If it's in dropframe then you won't have frame 00 and frame 01 on each minute except for every tenth minute - but it shouldn't be off by that much.
I agree it sounds to me like something happened when you captured the clip.
Something you might try is to take several minutes of your clip and export it as a custom quicktime with all the settings set as if you captured it (720x480 - dv ntsc codec - 29.97 frame rate)
Then reimport that clip and see if it behaves any differently.

  • IMovie Clip Speed Issue! Please Help!

    Hey Guys.
I have been having a weird issue with iMovie '09. Here are my current iMovie and computer specs.
    IMovie '09 - Version 8.0.6 (821) Latest Update
    *Running on:*
    Macbook 5,1 (Latest Updates)
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
Processor - 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory - 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Purchased a little over a year ago.
    *My Problem:*
I start a new project in iMovie, I import the footage from my camera (Sony Webbie HD MHS-CM1 Camcorder - 1080p). iMovie imports the footage into 1440 x 1080 .mov files.
When I drag a event clip into the project area. I am able to preview the project as I work on it in the top right hand corner. Next I want to speed up the clip to make it fast forward. I click on the clip in the project, it highlights yellow. I click on the gear in the bottom left hand corner of the clip and click on clip adjustments. If I adjust the speed to any speed, even if I check reverse and I click okay. I preview the project and the preview in the top right corner is frozen at the first frame of the clip. The sound plays from the clip and regular speed. The clip in the project can no longer be adjusted or even selected. All I do from there on is delete the clip, I can't do anything and I am forced to restart the project and do it all over again, which wont work. The problem is I really need to use the clip.
I have tried to restart iMovie and even the computer, but it does nothing.
Please help me fix this problem.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

Right click on the clip in your Event and see if it gives you the option to Optimize Video. If so, optimize your video and it should be able to do the speed changes.
