Clip notes - no player controls

I am trying to use clip notes - only problem is that everything is fine except the player controls don't show up below the clip. The controls are there if you click on the area, but you just can't see them (Just a black bar)
I'm using Reader 9

Let me guess:
You chose Quicktime for the video format, and you are using Vista 64.
Correct?
If so, then you are probably still OK.  Apple doesn't support Quicktime
player on 64-bit Windows, and a symptom is the lack of visible
controls.  But the file will play back just fine on 32-bit Windows, and,
I assume, on a Mac.

  • Imbedded SWF does not have Player Controls?

    Hello,
I am using Go Live CS2 and have a Flash video to put on a page.
I have Flash CS4 so I made an SWF and put on the Go Live page.
When I preview in a browser, the video plays but the player controls are not there.
When I preview in Flash (html preview) the controls are there.
Also, the video is auto-playing even after I unchecked auto play in Go Live.
Do I need to install some sort of Flash player code for Go Live?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Clip Notes in CS4/Acrobat 9: exports transcript, no controls for QuickTime

When I use the Transcribe feature, then export my project to Clip Notes, it exports every transcribed word as a separate comment. There doesn't seem to be any way of suppressing that, and there doesn't seem to be a way of deleting a transcription either in PP or in Acrobat. The result is that the reviewer sees all these comments and has to fight with Acrobat to insert new comments. When I import the xfdf back into PP, I get the whole transcription loaded into markers along with the reviewer's comments. Unless I open every one, I can't tell what's what.
Is there at least a way of deleting the transcription in PP or Acrobat?
Also, if I export the video as QuickTime, there are no player controls in Acrobat. I only get player controls if I export as Windows Media. That means that some Mac users won't be able to use my Clip Notes exports. I've seen others asking about this, but no answers. Any ideas? I'm running this under Windows Vista Ultimate.

But I find it amazing that there's no way to delete the damn thing. Adobe made a big deal of transcription, but it seems they didn't regard it as more than a gimmick, since they did it half-baked. I think you're right that it's best not to use this "feature".
I don't know if it's necessarily half-baked, so much as it is an overly optimistic appraisal of the capability of the technology at this point in time. I mean, it does create words, and sometimes very interesting ones at that
What's interesting to me is that when I tested out the transcribe feature back when Adobe released the beta of Soundbooth CS4, it was MUCH more accurate--and I was testing it on the mixed, final soundtrack of a documentary captured from Betacam SP. The transcription wasn't anywhere near 100%, but it was actually usable. Now, it struggles on pristine audio from a single, clear voice track. Wish it wasn't so...
Anyway, you can stop the transcription from appearing in a Clip Notes export. Check out the following screenshot for the how-to:

  • Clip Notes won't play/no controls

I export Adobe clip notes from Premeire Pro CS4 and when one tries to open with Adobe Reader 9 there are no player controls, so the video clip cannot be played.  I am running Vista 64 bit.  Does Adobe Reader 9 not work with clip notes?

You would think that Adobe might do us the courtesy of letting
Prelmiere Pro users know that Clip Notes aren't going to work anymore with Adobe
Reader 9.x or later.  Adobe Tech Support seems to be clueless about the issue.  Does one hand know what the other is doing?

    Okay – I think I'm making progress :-)
In my FLA file, I have a FLVPlayback component in my library.
When I export the video to an SWF it provides me with 2 SWF files:
the flash movie and the skin. With those 2 files, I also upload my
    FLV file to my server.
On my media server, the video displays correctly (here's the
    link to it:
    http://jonah.eastern.edu/ben/ben_jump.html)
However, when I try embedding the video onto a different
sight and server, just the video displays. I completely understand
that there's 2 different SWF's, but how do I import the video
correctly, so the video playback is displaying correctly when
    embedded on other/external sites.
Is there a way to attach/import the SWF for the skin? I'm
just trying to embed video's like YouTube and I'm failing horribly!
    Thank you so much!

  • QT Player not diplaying Present controls properly.

I have QT 7.2.0 on and iBook G4 with 10.4.10, whenever I try to present certain movies to my tv, the controls in the Present Movie dialog box become distorted.
    http://web.mac.com/dennis264/Picture%208.png
This works perfectly fine with many other movies. There is nothing in common between the movies, streaming/local, file types or sizes.
I am aware that screen spanning is not supported on iBook G4s but this has been working since this machine was new.
Any tips or workaround would help.

However, I did discover that unchecking "Show Content Guide at startup" in Player Preferences resulted in the normal player controls to show up, so that fixes it. I don't know why the content guide will not display but at least I can work with it as it is now.
On a Mac the issues you described might be caused by a corrupted PLIST file. The normal "fix" is to close the QT app, delete the PLIST file, and reopen the app to force re-generation of a new PLIST file. Such problems can normally be tested beforehand by simply opening the app under a different user account since each user account has a different PLIST file associated with it. If QT works properly under one user account but not another, the issue is usually a corrupted PLIST file causing the problem whereas if all accounts have the same problem(s), then it is usually the App itself or a conflict with the open QT app that is causing problems.
So has Apple gone to user-based support only now? Even for paid software? Not being able to file a trouble report or bug report with Apple is, well, troubling.
No, but usually it is easier/faster to find assistance here in the forums. Use the Product Feedback form to file bug reports, provide official feedback, and/or request enhancements to a product. See the https://www.apple.com/feedback/ page to find a list of links to specific product feedback forms.

  • Putting player controls on a swf (not flv)

I've created a .swf "movie" in flash - you hit enter, an mp3
lecture starts playing, and slides of text appear at the
    appropriate times.
Now I want to put it on the web, but I'd like to be able to
skip through the presentation/lecture with a seek bar, and
pause/rewird/fast forward with buttons. I'm creating a lot of these
.swf movies/presentations, and I don't know much about flash or
action script, so I'd like to keep it simple. Is there an
embeddable player or something that can load my .swf movie and play
it and seek through it, or can I drop some player controls right
    into the movie itself?
I've seen a few players that can show these kinds of controls
for flv movies, but none for .swf movies. Is there an easy solution
built into flash that I'm missing?
    Thanks

This is also the problem I want to solve. I generated a Flash
movie with frame by frame animation. Each frame is interactive with
many dynamic movie clips, and some actions are defined on them. I
want to use FLVplayback component to control the play of the Flash
    movie.
After I output the Flash movie to avi format, I found all the
dymanic movie clips disappear (only a few static texts exist).
After the conversion from avi to flv format, I got the same thing:
all the dymanic stuff is gone.
How can I keep the interactive dymanic movie clips, and use
FLVPlayback to play the Flash movie? Any good suggestions to
    achieve this?
    Thanks,

  • Clip Notes in CS4: questions about streaming

I've used Clip Notes before with small, embedded files, but this is my first time with a large video that I want to stream on a server. Maybe someone can answer a few questions:
Where do I name the movie file? The export dialog only has a place to name the PDF.
How does the URL setting work? The documentation simply says "This is where your video file is located" but that puts the cart before the horse. How can I specify the name and location of a movie that hasn't been created yet and for which I have no control over the name? The FTP feature works great, but it's for upload only, not for naming.
After exporting the movie and PDF, is there a way to re-generate the PDF w/o having to re-export the movie? I realized I wanted to make some changes to the PDF only (like instructions and URL), and exporting another movie will take time that isn't necessary.
I learned here earlier that only the QuickTime option will provide player controls. But a big .mov requres a streaming server, which I don't have. The .wmv option has the opposite problem. Does anyone know of a workaround (or other method entirely) that will use Flash video? FLV or F4V will do progressive downloading with small file sizes for online viewing.

Where do I name the movie file? The export dialog only has a place to name the PDF.
The name you assign to the PDF is also assigned to the exported movie file, regardless of whether you use QT or WMV. So, if you set the name of the PDF in the Export Settings to "clipnotes.pdf", the video will be either "clipnotes.mov" or "clipnotes.wmv", depending on the format you've chosen.
How does the URL setting work? The documentation simply says "This is where your video file is located" but that puts the cart before the horse. How can I specify the name and location of a movie that hasn't been created yet and for which I have no control over the name? The FTP feature works great, but it's for upload only, not for naming.
See above. Since you now know what the filename will be, you just have to decide where the file will reside on your server, and input this into URL field. Using our example from above, you'd use enter something like "http://www.mysite.com/upload/clipnotes.mov". It's a full URL, with the "http://" needed; just change the pertinent details.
After exporting the movie and PDF, is there a way to re-generate the PDF w/o having to re-export the movie? I realized I wanted to make some changes to the PDF only (like instructions and URL), and exporting another movie will take time that isn't necessary.
Maybe, though I haven't tested this:
    Trash the original PDF file.
Temporarily rename your originally-exported movie file, or move it to a different folder so that it's not overwritten.
Set your export range to one frame, using the same settings and same name that you did for your first export, and restart the export.
Throw away the new movie file, and rename the original or move it back to it's original folder. Since the only connection the PDF has to the movie file is the URL and filename, this should work.
I don't think you need a streaming server; I've tested QuickTime off a regular ol' HTTP server and it works fine. Incidentally, I should add, QuickTime streaming WASN'T working for me previously, at all. I just tried it out, and it would seem that a recent update to Adobe Reader might have fixed the issue. Streaming WMV always worked fine. Curious.
As far as Flash: are you talking about using Flash Video in ClipNotes, or just Flash Video viewing online, in general? At this time, ClipNotes is QuickTime or WMV only, but I wouldn't be suprised if Flash Video makes an appearance in ClipNotes CS5, given the whole focus on Flash in the Adobe ecosystem. If you're talking about general FLV playback, check out the JW FLV Media Player; it's an fairly simple-to-configure Flash Video player that can be embedded into a webpage.

  • Clip Notes + Streaming QuickTime = broken?

I guess this is more of an AME or Reader issue, but figure that PPro users are the most common users of Clip Notes...
I've tried exporting a Clip Notes PDF with streaming QuickTime video from both PPro CS3 + AME, PPro CS4 + AME, and standalone AME CS4, and all of them report an error: "Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip:"
If I use QT but select to embed the file, it works fine. If I use WMV, either embedded or streamed, it works fine. I have confirmed that I'm setting the URL correctly in the Clip Notes settings. The QT spit out by the Clip Notes export plays fine in QT Player, so I know the video itself isn't broken. I'm attempting to play/view these using Reader 8.1.3.
Obviously, the solution would be to not use QT, or to at least embed it, but it's a much larger file than can be comfortably sent to my client (who isn't that technologically savvy). I like the QT option because of the ability to easily navigate/rewind the video.
Anyone else experiencing issues with Clip Notes and streaming QuickTime?

    I'm using Vista 64.
I was having the same problem with the transport controls not showing up.
I set AcroRd32.exe to run in XP mode and that fixed the problem with the embedded movie file.
    Transport controls show up.
    Thanks.
I hoped that would also fix the QT streaming problem.
However, if I select "Streaming" and upload it to my server then when the Clip Notes tries to play the file it says "
This happened also before I set AcroRd32 to XP mode.
No problem with "Clip Notes Windows Media" format.  It uploads and plays fine.
The .mov file is on the server.   I can play it fine in a browser.
Any ideas why Adobe Reader won't play a streaming .mov file in Clip Notes, but will play a streaming .wmv file?
You really need to use QT so you can scrub the timeline.
.wmv files don't let you scrub!
Adobe why haven't you after all these years made Clip Notes use flash?
If you did it would truly be cross-platform.
    Thanks.

  • Clip Notes aspect ratio wrong

I have AE CS3 on an Intel 8. Would like to use Clip Notes for low-rez approvals, but when I render a Quicktime movie in 3 x 4 aspect ratio (like most video) when I open the pdf in Acrobat Reader 8.1.2, it stretches it to 16 x 9. Checked all the preferences and view options and can't find anything to change it. Searched through the render options in AE, and can't find anything in there either. Tried the NTSC presets, tried using Stretch, nothing makes any difference.
Also, the audio sounds very bad. I've seen demos of Clip Notes that looked great, but demos usually do.
Please help. I'd like to use this potentially great feature.
    RD

Sorry, that was a typo. Since then I've done more tests. The default size ClipNotes wants for regular video is 640 x 480. But when I render it that way in AE-CS3, and open the PDF in Acrobat 8.1.2, it gets stretched to widescreen. There seems to be no way to control this. So then I go back, nest the 640 x 480 in a comp that is 854 x 480, which is the default size ClipNotes specifies, and render it with black pillars on the sides. When I open this PDF, it looks correct and not stretched. I can live with the black pillars until they fix this.
BUT, the fatal flaw is, the audio. It sounds terrible, like the music is doing a constant phase-shifter effect. I tried it at 48 and 44 kHz, and made sure the settings matched in the output module and the ClipNotes audio settings, and it made no difference.
Thanks for your thoughts on this, but do people from Adobe ever read these posts? I have read several posts about this audio problem here and on Creative Cow. I hope they fix it or tell me what to do soon. Try it with a clip that has music, and you will immediately see what I am talking about.

  • Clip Notes streaming export causes Reader media clip error

MacPro HDV captured into PPCS4, export OK to Adobe Clip Notes streaming, uploads .mov file to my FTP site OK. The .mov clip plays fine locally in QT. When I open the clip notes pdf in Acrobat 9 Reader for Mac or Acrobat 8 Pro on Vista, both give the same error on opening: Javascript window - error reading media clip. The clip does not load into the pdf, and I can not get error information to debug.
Answer: I need QT streaming server. The Clip Notes streaming is true streaming, not progressive-download or pseudo-streaming. I did not see this in the Premiere CS4 documentation.

  • Adobe clip notes quicktime playback Win XP 64

    Hello
Havng an issue and wondering if anyone has experinced similar problem. When I open adobe clip notes .pdf file in adobe reader (that I exported in PrPro CS4) on windows xp pro 64 bit- the video comes up but the little quicktime play bar with play, pause and stop does not show up- just black where the bar should be. Now I can click on the black and if I click in the correct areas (blindly) I can still pause and play and fast forward- but this is not a good option. When I play the same pdf in Windows XP pro 32 bit the quicktime bar works just fine. I have quicktime 7.6.4 installed on my XP pro 64 bit machine.
I can export to Windows media and that works with both XP 32 bit and 64 bit- but windows media player won't allow me to scrub the video forward and back like quicktime does
    Any suggestions
    Thanks

  • Autohide Flash Player Controls

I've imported a Video file into Flash and added Player
    Controls.

This is all good... but they stay there and I don't want

How do I set it so the Player Controls disappear

Yeah I started to wonder if I could add a 2 px thick transparent "frame" around outside edge of the movie that - when moused over - would trigger the autohide. but I am not enough of a Flash/AS person to know how to do that.
Thanks for your help. I am hoping we can figure this out.

  • Tool like adobe clip notes

I just used Adobe Clip Notes to review a friend's video. It's fantastic. Is there anything at the iMovie level that Apple has that would work well, or would I have to upgrade to a version Final Cut?

ACN is an 'extention' of Adobe's own pdf (=portable document format) standard ..
no, no other Video app offers that..
here's manual work to be done.. : player, watching timecode, noticing comments in another writing app..
