Clip plays wrong footage

I previously posted this in after affects forum, but i don't think that's where the problem is.
Simply put, when i play a clip on the timeline, the program monitor shows a completely different clip.
At first, this seemed to happen only when "replace w AE comp" was employed.   It was suggested that
a reasonable work-around was to process (stablize) each clip independently in AE, NOT using the
"replace w AE comp" menu choice.
That seemed to work fine, for a while....each clip was saved in AE and then imported into P Pro;
eventually, however, i had the clip, [the OLD problem, again] show the correct poster frame, and
even play correctly in the project panel previewer, but NOT from the timeline.   I tried placing the
clip on the timeline from souce monitor, dragging it from project panel, and from media browser.
I have looked all over the help documents, finding nothing to address this.   I SUSPECT that it may
be due to a faulty index somewhere, or hopefully some simple step i am forgetting...anyone?
i have P Pro v 5.2.2; hardware is octal processor 8 G ram @ 3.4 ghz

Fuzzy - glad to hear from you on this, as you were familiar with the issue - and i had forgotten about the
incremental naming issue mentioned at that time (the AE posting) , which didn't really sink in,
since i wasn't naming things with numbers then.
I see that you mentioned NOT needing to store "dynamically linked compositions" in the same AE project.
This latest confrontation with the issue occured when NOT using the dynamic link from the timeline.
I THINK i was following your suggestion and simply re-opening AE with each subsequent clip, and saving
the project as a separate project.   I admit i was naming the project like C75stbl, which DOES have a number
in it, and maybe that is the issue in the first place, now that i was trying to keep the stablized clip in the
same folder as the raw footage - which may be a problem in itself.    Or perhaps I am not sure exactly
what it is i am "saving" in file/save - the project or the comp - I was thinking it is the comp.
I would be willing to pore over some more help documents, but none i have found to date seem to deal
with this issue.
Maybe a better approach would be just stating the problem this way:   i have an asset in the project
panel that displays the correct poster frame and plays the correct footage - when i put it on the
timeline, the footage is different.   The only consistent parameter is that it occurs with clips
that have been stablized - but not ALL of them.

I have clips from the same camera on the same day with the same settings, and the last half of the clips are playing at about 16x or 20x the normal speed with no audio.
Not sure what to do. The other clips work great.

They are .AVI files from a Canon G9. They play wrong in the Finder as well.

I have Premiere Pro 2.0 and Elements 3.0, both with the same problem. Both programs worked well for a while, then all of sudden imported clips started to play at about 2x in the timeline or source window. In other words, the CTI/cursor moves about twice as fast, with the timer counting at double the speed (ie a 2 min clip plays in 1 min). Audio is suppressed. It is as if it is reading the clip's framerate incorrectly. There is nothing wrong with the clips themselves (they play find in Windows Media Player).
I have tried to uninstall/reinstall both programs. The only thing I can come up with is that a certain codec or driver has stopped working. I do not believe there is anything wrong with my hardware, since I dont have any problems with any other programs.
SPECS
Windows Vista running on a 300GB hard drive with lots of space with 2GB RAM on an AMD Athlon dual core processor (ie a strong computer). Video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS, driver is nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll.
PLEASE HELP. I have spent many hours trying to fix this, and Adobe wont help me since my version is not the most current. I must do video editing as part of my job, and I must have this working again... please feel free to reply via this post or to Daniel at [email protected]

Clips play at half speed, why?

Why do some HD movie clips play in half speed if dropped on the timeline, but others from the same play just fine. This happens on G4 2x1GHz PowerMac with iMovie 6, the footage is 6 h of HD video from Canon HV20.

If clips have imported at slower than real time ..which can happen with slower Macs.. then sometimes those clips, and their audio, continue to play at half-speed after importing.
I've found that quitting iMovie and then restarting usually brings them back to normal speed, because that empties the program's "cache" memory, so it reads the clips afresh from the hard disc.
If that doesn't fix it, sometimes chopping off a frame from the start of the clip restores everything to nroaml ..oops! ..er, "normal"!

How can i leave audio from one clip playing, while showing another one in i

i am editing a movie, using iMovie 08, and want to use sound for a clip in the video for the end credits. how can i do this?
just to be clear, i am not trying to add audio. i am trying to leave the audio from ONE CLIP playing, while viewing a new frame. thanks.

This is simple in iMovie 11 (drag and drop), but in iMovie 08, you can still do it.

1. Why don't you purchase it from Apple? I'd be wary with eBay sellers - and, after all, Apple posts their stuff everywhere, even if you live in a country without a localized Apple store webpage or local (physical) Apple stores.
2. when it comes to adapters / cables like these, NEVER purchase ANYTHING non-Apple-manufactured! Most of the cheap(er) knock-offs don't work! That is, don't try to save on going for a cheaper alternative - it most likely won't work.

Adding pages, and "jump to" at end of clip play

I have 2 questions here:
1) When a movie with dozens of clips/markers is sent from iMovie to iDVD, there are multiple "pages", with arrows going backward & forward at the bottom of the current page. How do I add the "Forward" arrow to the next page manually? I've tried using submenu's, but it doesn't work quite the same way.
2) As above, when sending a movie from iMovie (at least in "Magic Movie" mode) when one clip ends, the next clip plays automatically. How do I do that when manually adding clips to iDVD?

Animation play wrong in Safari on Win and Mac (with link to project)

Apple Tv is playing wrong movie.

Apple tv is playing wrong movie. Very strange. I select the movie or tv program I want to watch but it plays a completely different one. I have airplay on, if I take it off the problem stops but every time I pause then hit play a different movie or even music plays on my computer at the same time. It;s driving me crazy. Whats going on?

When it stopped playing, what happened. Did the screen go blank, the video just freeze or did it go back to the menus, could you otherwise use the Apple tv or not.

More like whoever coded the add-on is an idiot. Google used a brilliant piece of HTML5 to bring the iconic Pacman to the masses for its 30th Anniversary, and not only do people not recognize its ubiquitous sounds, people are annoyed at Google and Firefox, not the creators of the add-on.
No one did this on purpose, and the ones at fault are the ones who coded the Add-on. Now shut up, your problem is fixed.

How do I make a movie clip play between scenes?

I am VERYnew to flash so please bear with me. I am having a
problem with a movie clip playing between scenes. As scene 1 plays,
the movie works correctly. When I click on my button to go to scene
2 the movie clip starts over. I would like it to continue from

avoid scenes - they are only for timeline management inside

Apply the Basic 3D video effect. Adjust the Swivel to 180 degrees.

Duplicate clips in my footage bin

I'm doing the Premiere Pro CC Eagle Doc. tutorial. After completing it, I started cutting a new sequence using the same clips. However, for some reason, the clips I used in the second sequence were duplicated in
the footage bin. When I tried to delete them, I got a message saying that I was deleting clip references (see attachments). In addition, when I did delete two clips from the footage bin, they also vanished from the second sequence.
Why is it necessary for PP to create duplicate clips in the bin for a new sequence? It only leads to clutter and confusion in the bin. Is there a way to prevent this?

I've not seen that when duplicating a sequence, but I have seen it when importing a sequence or a project into a new project. Did you maybe duplicate the project and then paste in or import the old sequence instead of just duplicating the sequence within the same project?
The reason for importing all the media into the new project is so that the media associated with the imported sequence is accessible in the new project, which makes sense. If the media is not actually used somewhere in an open sequence, you can delete it without being warned that the media will be removed from a timeline.
Of course, bugs do still happen, so, as a test, could you select just the sequence in the project panel, right click it and select 'duplicate' and see if you get three sets of media?

I'm not aware of any, not to say that there aren't any issues.
it may have nothing to do with ntpd, there are a lot of things running.
ntpd just happen to make the log entry at the same time as the panic.
I would check to see if there are any updates available for you system.
if this is the first time that this has happened. it may be (pick one):
cosmic rays
sun spots
the trilateral commission
if this happens more frequently and that traces look the same, then
there may be a real problem that needs to be looked into further.

My video clip plays too slowly. How do I set the playback speed?

I am just learning how to use Premier Pro. When I import the video clip and put it into the sequence section, the clip plays extremely slowly - more like still photography.
