Clipped Sound

Has anyone had a problem with imported sound files (mp3
format) being clipped at the end? The files are perfect when
previewed in the edit sound screen - but when published or
previewed on the slide about 1/2 second is clipped at the end. I'm
using Captivate 3.0.
It is not a consistent problem which makes it more
frustrating. Thanks for any insights.
Cathy

Hi Larry,
Yes I did try extending the slide timeline and that did not
work. What does work is to add a .1 (or whatever) interval of
silence in the Edit sound screen.
What's strange is the sound plays fine in edit and there is
already a short silence on the end. Just one of those things I have
to learn to work around I guess.
Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Video clip sound after burning

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 10, and I recently made a music video. I put a soundtrack to it. I turned the video clip sound all the way off and just let the soundtrack play over it, like a music video. I then burned it to a disk and played it on my DVD player. When it was playing, I noticed that the video clip sound and the soundtrack were both playingand over lapping each other. I burned several disks after turning every other sound off but the soundtrack, and still the video clip was playing over it. Please give me advice on how to fix it, as it would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
First, I would play the Timeline with the Audio Mixer Panel open, and watch for the Levels of the other Video Tracks. You can also use that to Mute other Audio Tracks.
One can also Alt-click on the Audio portion of the Clip, and just Delete that.
Now, did you place your music onto the Fixed Soundtrack Audio Track? Some users have experienced problems with the two Fixed Tracks, Soundtrack and Narration, and the normal "fix" is to just drag the music (or narration) to an empty, "regular" Audio Track.
    Good luck,

  • No sound in I my Phone. no ring tone or soungs and clips sound. I already reseat the setting but nothing has changed

No sound in I my Phone. No ring tone or soungs and clips sound. I already reset the setting but nothing has changed. The sound only active with headphone?

Make sure the Ring/Silent switch isn't showing a red bar or dot.
If that isn't it, try disconnecting the headphones and adjusting the the volume.
If the iPhone says headphones when you adjust the volume, there could be something in the headphone jack.
You can try disconnecting and reconnecting the headphones 5-6times or restoring the iPhone.

  • One core peaking after 10.9.3....annoying clipping sounds

Using a 12 core mid 2010 32GB RAM. This is what my core reader looks like when I'm doing nothing....on a blank session (screenshot). If I start auditioning string samples (Spitfire, 8W Black, Symphobia ect...)that one core peaks causing very annoying clipping sounds. I didn't have this issue on 10.9.2 and after the awesome Logic X update that spread the load across the cores (finally).
Please look into this as I'm sure Im not the only one with this issue. My computer and using Logic X is how i make a living. Freezing every track is the only work around this, for now....

Just to follow up:  I started looking for things on my MacBook that could have had an impact on this behavior.  I could think of three:  App Nap, and two third-party products I run, App Tamer and Little Snitch.  I turned all three off, and the problem went away.  So you'd think I'd found the source of the problem.  Well ... over the next couple of days, I turn them back on one at a time,  They have all been back on for almost a week now ... and the problem has not recurred.
Meanwhile, my other MacBook - which displayed the same problem, though less frequently - also no longer displays it.  (I don't run either of the third-party programs on the other MacBook, and I never changed the App Nap settings.  Oh, and it's my work machine and on a completely different network provider I have AT&T at home, it's Verizon at work - so in terms of network connections, the commonality is "The Internet".)
So this has vanished completely as mysteriously as it arrived.

  • Clipping sound and other things with Logic X 10.0.6

Hi 2 everyones, I notify all about strange things when run Logic X but not only in my new iMac 27" the same in older Mac Pro mid 2008.
In my Home Studio I use with satisfaction this Mixer with USB 2.0 interface.
In this early 2014 change my iMac 21,5" (late 2009) with iMac 27" core i7. From start using Logic X, after recording audio track sometimes the sound distorce, clip and sometimes not.
I’ve try everything (disconnect USB, reset logic,..) but the problem persist.
And another thing that happen in my iMac and other Mac Pro, when (shift+W) edit the audio file with Soundtrack pro (the first time) try to save and return to logic but STP stall (colored whirl), must use forced escape, than re edit and save normally and come back to Logic.
When change from Logic to STP (and reverse) notify center tell me that I’ve change my midi interface but the strange thing is that I deactivate notification center in Logic….. Can someone tell me more??
PS. I read something in this discussion but confusign me too much
    Thanks

Ok, the first problem was gone when I completely reset PRAM and VRAM.
But the second is still there. When I open Logic x, and then want to edit externally (with STP) the file (SHIFT+W) edit it and then try to save, STP stall, and I must force quit. Then the second time i re-edit externally the file open it in STP edit, save and that's is fine....why?
    Thanks to all forum

  • Clipping sound in a song i purchased

i'm hearing this odd clipping noise, sort of like a pop kind of, in a song on an album i recently purchased.  it's like a split second after a high hat sound (drums).  itunes support resent me the download but the noise is still there.  i've had a couple people listen to it just to make sure i wasn't going crazy and everyone seems to hear it.  i can't imagine it's in the actual recording (but maybe?), however i haven't had a problem with either downloads.  basically i'm just wondering if there's something i may not be thinking of that could be causing it, if anyone has any advice on that?  i'm hearing it on my computer as well as my phone.
i may be making too much of it, it just seems a little too noticeable for it to be there and is distracting.  any suggestions are appreciated.  thank you.

i can't imagine it's in the actual recording (but maybe?),
    Seconyers,
It could be a defect in the original mastering, but is more likely to be an audio artifact that crept in as a consequence of the encoding process.
Your main choices are to live with it or insist on a refund on grounds of being defective.  If you want to experiment for a couple of bucks, you can buy the same song from another online music store that sells in a different format (MP3 or one of the lossless formats).

  • What do the numbers greq.-1.aif mean on a clips sound wave.

I'm working on a project where I'm trying to replace the ambient sound with music, but I don't seem to  be able to soften or even delete the roar of the convention hall. I'm trying to use the Audio FX noise reducer and though the preview sounds good and the little red line runs along the bottom of the clip, there is no difference in the sound and the letters "Clip 19 -greq .aif" (or some other number) appear on a sound bar underneath the clip. And whatever it is can not be deleted. What is this?? Any ideas? Thanks! Kate

No. Shipped discs are for the machine they shipped with. Call AppleCare and get the appropriate missing disc for a nominal S&H charge. Don't buy the ebay ones, they're for another machine. See Computer-specific Mac OS X releases for details.

  • Clip sound problem Sony XD-CAM EX

I imported a clip of Sony XDCAM-EX. The sound of the clip is out of sync with the video and from one point, the clip can be heard. Mp4 video I played perfectly in VLC. So the problem is Adobe Premiere and file no problem.

The funny thing is that in Premiere CS5.5 is all right.

  • Logic out of Macbook Pro causing "clipping" sound???

    Hello,
I'm very new with using my Macbook Pro to create live music. Currently I'm using an M-Audio MIDI keyboard and want to be able to have our keyboard player use this MIDI keyboard for "pads" while using another piano as "grand piano".
    Here's the problem:
I'm using an 1/8 in adpater from my computer---> quarter inch cable---> DI box---> Main System. I'm thinking my issues may lie somewhere in that transition. Out on the house board it's showing hardly no signal strength but yet it has the sound of "clipping" the tweeters. Something is clipping somewhere or going on with the signal that I can't explain. Would it be better for me to get a FireWire/USB2 interface such as an M-Audio and then run the interface out to the main system?
    Thanks for your help!!!

Is the macbookpro new? Running OS X 10.6.5?
What version of Logic 7 Express are you running? For Logic Pro 7 you needed 7.1 at least to run on Intel based Macs. Run Software Update.
btw, Logic 7 isn't officially supported on OS 10.6.x. I would recommend upgrading to Logic Express 9.
Also in Logic 7 check that you have core audio enabled. Go to Logic Express > Preferences
Choose Audio and Core Audio MUST be enabled.

  • Speeding up clips, sound carries over past end of clip

I did the speed up of a clip, the sound was sped up as well, but when the video of the clip ended, there remained about 10 more seconds of sound from that clip spilling over. I tried extracting the sound from the whole clip to see if that would remove it, it didn't, it is still there. How can I get rid of that? I cannot mute the track, there is video I want to put in after it. There is nothing to select and delete. Thank you.

That is a great idea. I will try that next time. I stumbled across a solution when I decided to edit the clip and cut off the last few seconds. When I did that, it removed the trailing audio as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • Crackling, clipping sound during play backs/recordings? No tracks are actually clipping..

Hello, I've recently got GarageBand 10.0.2 and imported an old GB file to work with in the new GB.
When i play back the recording it seems i get a crackling, clipping type of sound although no tracks are actually clipping?
i think it may occur when i switch to the new presets but the clipping/popping noises come and go with ever play back.
    Any idea?

A good bit-depth calculation would be useful for verifying the resolution of a recording, especially when it comes from a source that may have done it incorrectly.  For example, an unfamiliar combination of hardware, software, and their settings might appear to deliver 24-bit recordings (observed from file size) but in fact deliver upsampled 16-bit audio.
If you end up with a recording that has a sample bit depth size that is the equivalent of 24 bits, you couldn't tell anything about the real source of it anyway - it could be upsampled 8 bit, for all you could tell from those numbers. And that's all it does - takes a guess from the sample depth.
I deal with the audio I get, regardless of what any form of analysis says about it, because generally there's nothing I can do about it anyway. And that's why I don't think there's any value in the information - I treat the audio and save it as 32-bit FP - end of argument!
And, er, exactly which plugins have you discovered that are not giving you back what you sent them, or something better?

  • Mute background track so you can hear video clip sound?

Using iMovie '11, on a project with mixed stills and video, I want to mute the background music I have added while the video clips are playing so you can hear the audio on the clip and them=n bring the volume back up for the still shots.  I can see how to mute the video, but not in the direction that I want.
    Thanks

You can use the ducking feature to achieve this. You select your video clip and open the Inspector to the Audio Tab. Then apply ducking. Ducking will diminish all other clips except this one by the percentage that you specify.
    Good Tutorial Here.

  • Deafeningly Loud Clipping Sound

I am getting a seemingly random, VERY loud sound in GarageBand. It has happened to me 3 times so far. Twice on an iMac at school and once on my own MacBook Pro. I have noticed that this noise occurs when I am just trying out different sounds for a software instrument track. I have no way of expecting it and when it does happen I instinctively take my headphones off as quickly as I can. The noise is measured on the volume meter and stays in the red for a few seconds after the noise happens. In fact, it has already blown out a pair of headphones. I really don't understand why this is happening, I don't even have any recording devices, interfaces or midi instruments plugged in. All of my volume levels are at reasonably low levels, but when the noise goes off it doesn't matter what the volume is set at, it is always deafeningly loud. I have looked on many forums about this problem and the only similar problems were the result of mismatched recording devices with GB settings, which is not the case for me.
Please help, I don't want to risk damaging any more headphones, not to mention my ears.
