Clips are getting distorted after rendering a color grade; any solutions?

I've been experiencing this problem as I've been learning to color grade. Once I have all of my layers set the way I want them (initial correction, color alteration, masking, and sometimes adding a vinette) and I go to render, my clip will become completely distorted. Is there any solution to this when it happens, or will I have to restart the grade completely? Could there just be something I'm doing wrong in my workflow? I'm open to any and all answers.

Pure guess, do you have set in preferences high quality in playback.

It appears that you have to buy the applecare within 30 days of buying your phone - you said that your phone warranty is almost over, so when did you buy it??? That could be the explanation for the error.

Did you try rebooting the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Visual distortion after rendering (Apple ProRes)

When I use the share project "Master File" option and select any of the "Apple ProRes" options my final rendering has horazontal distortion lines that apear around moving objects.
My work around has been having to render using the share project "Email" option. Overall quality is not as good but I don't get the visual distortions.
Anyone else have this problem and found a solution. I find it a bummer that I can't use the built in compression options to render my movies.

Yes, your clips are interlaced. The 60i means 60 fields displayed at 29.97 frames per second.
My guess is what you're seeing is interlaced combing, which is typically visible in scenes with lots of motion, and is very distracting when displayed on a computer screen. (Interlaced is really a format made for broadcast.)
So you probably want to de-interlace. Your options include doing that from within FCP (choose the Settings view for the Inspector, Compressor (use Frame Controls), Motion (apply filter), and MPEG Streamclip (a free download). See if de-interlacing doesn't cure the problem.
My preference would be to de-interlace the material, then import it. But since you presumably have a completed project, try changing the field dominance over-ride in the Inspector to see whether the results are satisfactory.

XBMC: HDMI audio starts out OK, then gets distorted after few minutes

I have posted about this on the XBMC forums, but one of the developers kindly informed me that they do not support XBMC on Arch Linux in any way, so I should take my queries elsewhere. I am hoping that someone here might be able to shed some light on my issue.
I am trying to use XBMC 13.1 (xbmc-13.1-2) with Samsung EH5300 32" Smart TV (2013 model) over HDMI connection. The HTPC computer is AMD-based (AMD A4-5300 APU, which includes Radeon HD 7480D GPU), and runs an up-to-date Arch Linux (last full system upgrade on 2014-06-26). I am using the open source "radeon" driver (xf86-video-ati-1:7.3.0-1). Everything has been great except the sound:
The sound starts out fine, but a few minutes later it begins to get distorted. At first it sounds like reverb affecting voice only, but with time the distortion increases until it sounds kind of cued TV noise. If I restart the video, the sound works again for a while. If I change options in Settings -> System -> Audio Output, like the number of channels or pass-through, the sound is again good for a little while. If I enable or disable "Stereo Upmix" or change audio stream from the "Audio - Settings" dialogue window available during video playback, it too seems to "reset" the sound to sounding normal for a while.
Has anyone seen something like this?
I have tried different videos, and it seems like HD videos are affected more than SD videos, starting with distortions only a few minutes in (except the one Xvid video, which was fine for 15 minutes). Some SD videos are completely fine, some start having distortion issues only after 20 minutes or so. Judging from video information, if the video uses 5.1 channels (all HD videos fall in this category), it definitely gets distorted; if a video only uses 2.0 channels (like the SD videos), some are fine while others get distortion later on. I have "Number of channels" in Audio Output settings set to 2.0. Changing this (or any other audio settings) has not affected the distortion.
Following Arch Wiki: Radeon note about HDMI audio, I tried adding radeon.audio=1 to the kernel line; this did not solve the issue, just added some visual glitches.
In the XBMC debug log I posted, the distortions happen at around 17:26, though there is absolutely nothing logged at that time, even though I enabled "Verbose logging of AUDIO component" in the Debugging settings. The video I was playing there showed the following in the information window: 720 H.264 dts 5.1 16:9.
Any suggestions, ideas, or experiences would be appreciated. It definitely seems to be XBMC issue, since I was able to play the same HD video through mplayer without any problems (for at least half an hour, which would have already showed distortions several times through XBMC).

OK Imagine that Connection speed from your ISP is like an empty freeway. You can go full tilt (upto that road's speed limit)
Bandwidth is like a busy freeway where you only get to go as the bit you are in allows.
Reducing the Bandwidth in iChat or in the System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab is like a vehicle that has a maximum speed that is slower than the speed possible on the freeway.

we are able to get search result with the give search criteria. After getting result search parameters are getting refreshed.
how to keep those values in search parameters. which method i need to redefine..... what will be the part of code.

You have to set the search field values after the result obtained. I believe you can find this in any of the standard advanced search components - BT111S_OPPT etc. for reference.

UME properties are getting loaded after during cluster Import.

We are getting an error while starting the JAVA instance of oue SCM system.
We have done a SYSTEM refresh and during our Pre Steps we have exported the Cluster DATA from the config tool.
After the Restore when we have imported the Cluster Data back from Config Tool, we are getting this error
Error occured hile loading UME properties MSG:null.
We are using ABAP database as a userstore, now we are not able to see the UME LDAP DATA tab in the config tool.
nd also we are getting error when we are opening the Propertysheet com.sap.security.core.ume.service.
Kindly help us on that as we are not getting any help on net.

Clip audio gets quieter after enabling multi-cam.

I have a sequence with two video tracks and one stereo audio track (recorded separtely and synced), and placed it into my "main" sequence for editting. Before enabling multi-cam, the audio levels are noticibly higher, and once setting multi-cam to enable, the volume levels drop about 2-3db. I then have to raise the volume to compensate for that. Is this a bug or something particular about the way multi-cam clips are handled?

This is normal. Multicam by default only uses Audio 1 of the source sequence.

Timeline moves back or forth and gets disturbed in fcpx ....any solution....?

I am facing a weird problem ...while working you sometimes zoom into a particular portion of the timeline to work.....mostly while undoing changes the whole view of the timeline goes haywire either it comes to start or end of the entire timeline and you again have to find the place where you were working .....any gusses why it happens on pressing command z mostly........ any solution please.....
(In fcp 7 there was an option in preferences of 'available media' by clicking which you can keep that timeline have some manners and stick at one place he he....) any option in fcpx ?

Don't know whether this is a solution but it's always worth trying.
Corrupt preferences can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.

Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that only FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones . . . instantly.

IMovie HD 6.0.3: After making 10 movies where I clipped portions from a larger clip (and exported the smaller clips), suddenly iMovie clips are much shorter after I export them.

I am using iMovie HD 6.0.3 on an older MacBookPro (OS X, 10.4.11).
I took an AVI video and imported that into iMovie HD.
I then created smaller clips out of that - like editing a 20 minute video into small, 30 second clips.
I made about 10 of these smaller clips, exported them using "expert settings," and burned the results to DVD. These all worked fine.
Suddenly, the final product that I export is much shorter than the clip I created. For example, I'll create a 30 second smaller clip from the original. When I review this 30 second clip, it is what I wanted.
When I export this 30 second clip, it makes a QuickTime movie that is only 23 seconds. (The first 10 I made did not do this).
I tried extending my clip by 7 seconds, hoping to end up with a 30 second clip after exporting. The result was even shorter - like 15 seconds.
I have checked disk space - it has at least 500 GB free space. I have tried exporting the clip to both my laptop and to an external hard drive. The results are the same.
I just tried using the "crop" feature to see if my end product was better - but it was the same.
Does anyone know what is going on? Why did this start after making 10 successful exports? What can I do to get it working right again, as I have 3 more clips to make and am running up against a deadline.

Since I can't edit this post... (Why?) I'd add: fast forwarding and fast reverse (shift key and arrow left or right) the HA files is also not smooth. They play alright. I'm surprised iMovie can't handle them either. I didn't have a problem with the earlier camcorder's HA files... (All were converted MTS files using Movie Converter.)

1. FCP does not work with material this is not "native". To see what "native" formats FCP supports, look at the standard presets. If you don't know what a FCP standard preset is, do some research. The Manual is a wonderful place to start.
2. FCP does not work well when you play material from the system drive. Editable media MUST be stored on a non-system drive.
The key points to understand are - if your material is not a FCP native format (codec), convert it to one (pro res 422 works just fine) and use a non-system drive as your media storage/ playback drive.
If you do this and you still have problems, post back. We'll do what we can to help.

Some ProRes clips are off when XML sent to Color

Hey guys, I have a timeline which I have tried exporting an XML and also using "Send to Color" but having an issue with both methods. My timeline is a mix of ProRes 422, AIC codec, 1080P scaled to 720P and 720p native footage. Alot of the footage is RED footage which I have rendered to 720 and 1080 ProRes. I also have HDV footage which has been captured in ProRes and AIC. The RED ProRes footage and HDV footage in AIC I am having no problem with. It's ONLY the HDV which was captured to ProRes. When I pull the timeline into Color, all the HDV ProRes footage has slipped for some reason. I can't figure out why the HDV ProRes is doing that. Everything about it seems to be right. In fact, the only difference I can see between the RED ProRes and HDV ProRes is that the RED stuff is at 7.2mb a second compared to 6.8mb for HDV.
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening and how to fix it? I've got Color 1.51.

You haven't mentioned anything about the base framerate of the project.
How did you transcode the media?
And while mixing codecs, resolutions and frame dominances on a sequence sent to COLOR is not strictly speaking an open invitation to disaster, it is the next best thing.
COLOR does not look at source time codes for its I/O points. It calculates those by counting frames from a known point (usually the beginning of the source clip way back there in your Capture Scratch directory, for instance) and making an educated guess about that based on the project frame rate.
That's one of the reasons why keyframes are not successful on speed adjusted media.
There also could have been some kind of error built in on the transcode, where the HDV i-frame could have been misinterpreted.

Image distorting after rendering..?

Hello, I am fairly new to AE so any help would be grateful!
The issue I am having is that I have created a comp with 2 PNG files in it. These PNG's are setup in a 3d format so I can pan and zoom from one over to the other then scroll past the image until it leaves the screen...During the preview if the comp it looks great. I then put the comp into my main and previewed it from there...it still looks great. The problem arrises when I Render the movie out. No matter what I do, that particular comp looks horrible. I can't even read the words on one of my images it's so distorted.
So this leads me to believe that I'm missing an output option for rendering. I have tried rendering as AVI, MPG2, H264, etc. tried even rendering with lower and upper fields first..I have also selected the options on the comp to "preserve resolution when nested" (which helped out in how it looked for the preview but not the render).
I have been searching the web for the last 2 hours trying to find an answer and I still come up with nothing.

I have now even changed the image from a .PNG over to a .TIF with no compression...And there is no change in the distortion, it's still messed up.

I have used VLC, Windows Media Player, Quicktime and even Winamp...all of which look horrible.
The image from above was taken with VLC.
Even while previewing the render that image looks terrible.

Could the distortion have to do with the image size itself?
The resolution of the image direct from photoshop is 1296x3758...
what I have noticed is that if I drop the resolution size down to 1097x886 (random size test), There is NO distortion and the image is perfect...
This doesn't help me though as I need an image large enough to scroll through and would rather not have to attach multiple images together using AE..

Polygon drawn with CG gets distorted after a UIView animation.

I've managed to draw a polygon on an UIView with a helper function that gives me an array of CGPoints which I loop through going CGContextAddLineToPoint.
I can rotate the polygon by applying a CAAffineTransformMakeRotation object, I have a UIButton associated with a rotate function and it works fine.
Problem is if I move the UIView down (as with a UIView beginAnimations) and the polygon is rotated in any manner, I can see an animation of it being distorted and disappearing!
Any clues???

No, I've never been a student at Stanford. CS 193P, last autumn, was given through the Stanford Center for Professional Development, so you didn't need to be a regular Stanford student; an application to the graduate school was required, but all the lectures were on video and I don't think you ever needed to be on campus to complete the course. I think the full tuition was over $3000. I would have gone for that if it had been a live class with the opportunity to ask questions. But I was told questions could only be asked by e-mail and those might or might not be answered in the recorded lectures. I didn't even ask my employer to pay for the class since my job was to develop Win32 apps. At the time I wasn't willing to confide a secret desire to become an iPhone programmer.

(I can't wait to see the comments about people who litter this forum with their life story) I haven't yet built a test bed to try out your code, but you are indeed moving your subview by resetting the frame. Try adding a translation to the current transform like this:
