Clips in timeline showing grey diagonal lines, black playback without audio

I have a project I'm working on that I last worked on a few weeks ago and I moved the folder but other than that nothing changed. However, now many clips have the grey diagonal lines you see below on them. The playback is black and silent. Timecode did not change, interpret footage settings and frame rate are correct and unchanged, the source media files have not changed and no clips are offline. I have restarted the computer and Premiere and cleared caches. Those same clips are also greyed out in all previous autosaves of the sequence, no matter how old. Help!

Adding 14m Clip to Timeline - Shows up Very Short

I have a 14 minute clip I want to add to the timeline, but when I do, it shows as a clip only about an inch long. Is there a way to have the clip show longer (physically) in the timeline (a way to stretch it out)?

Seems I figured it out. There's a 'film strip' icon at the upper right of the browser that will lengthen the clip. Although, it is limited to pre-determined 'stops' - it isn't free form - dragging the slider adheres to notched intervals.

When I drag a synchonised clip to timeline, can I turn off the video's audio track only without breaking apart clips?

I have preparred many clips by synchonising them with audio recorded on H4N - and have these in keywords.
When I drag them to the timeline, do I have to break apart each clip item to turn off the video's audio track or is there a shortcut to doing this?

For each clip you can go to the audio portion of inspector and uncheck/disable the tracks you don't desire. That would take longer than Tom's method, but I think the audio won't show up as a blank later on.

Can no longer pull clip into timeline from Viewer??

I no longer have the ability to drag a clip, or sub clip if I've chosen in and out points, into the timeline from the Viewer.
When I attempt to do this the clip moves as if I'm repositioning the clip within the Viewer window, but does not move to the timeline.....thoughts??

Either the video track that you are trying to edit on is locked (dark grey diagonal lines thru the track)
or the source and destination patch buttons are disconnected.

I am having issues too. Sometimes when I move a reminder to another list and remove the "Remind me on a day" setting, the task just disappears! I have used many to-do management programs throughout the years and feature-wise Apple's Reminders app is one of the simplest. "It Just Works" is starting to become a mockery. Why is an mov file showing up as a black screen with only audio?

I am importing a mov file into elements 11 and it is only showing up as a black screen with audio. The clip will play in other programs on my computer but is not importing into elements 11. The file was created on my panisonic camera. I am pretty new to video editting and am quite frusterated. I'm assuming it is some sort of codec issue but don't know how to proceed. Thanks for any help.

What do grey diagonal stripes on the clips in sequence mean ?

I've imported a project from FCP to CS4 and some clips in the sequence have grey diagonal stripes. These clips will not playback properly, they don;t show in the program / playback monitor. They are enabled and the source clips work fine if i drag them in again.
I'm sure theres a simple explanation on how to resolve and activate the clips but its beyond me. I'm going to have to recreate all the edits if i can't find a solution.
Any ideas anyone >>? any suggestion much appreciated.

IMovie '11 on 10.6.8 greys out contents of library, so I cannot drag and drop clips to timeline.

This has happened on multiple occasions. I don't know why Apple can't figure out how to create a reliable program. I have been using iMovie for several months now, updated to '11 in April, on OSX 10.6.8, and usually it works fine, but occasionally, out of the blue, all of the clips in my library will be greyed out. I cannot edit them in timeline unless I go to each clip individually and open up the separate editing window, I cannot drag and drop the clips to timeline, I have to manually copy and paste, and I cannot see any of the clips unless I roll over them with my mouse. My free trial of Final Cut Pro just expired and I have a couple of videos that are almost finished and this is extremely frustrating. I have seen others with similar experiences and I'm wondering if there is anything at all I can do about it. Thank you.
P.S. I did try restarting the program about 5 times and restarted my computer. Nothing gives.

Of course, I might have found a fix right after posting this. In case someone else comes along with the same issue...
I closed my MBP cover, and re-opened (this solved a menu bar issue I was also having). I re-opened iMovie, and deleted the project I had started that couldn't be continued. I started a new project, and things seemed to work just fine. So I'm not sure what it was that caused the problem, but so far it seems to be working now. Good luck!

My camera in twist s230U after upgrade to win 8.1 show a diagonal cross line

After windows 8.1 update I am unable to use my camera for skype in my twist S230U and take a snap.It shows a diagonal cross line in the camera image but the camera light shows up,.getting click sound but camera could not take a picture or use video in skype.Any solution please/

I also had this problem and could not find the detailed solution but this thread did help me get the camera going. I tried uninstalling the camera device, downloading the latest driver and re-installing, rebooting and no change.
What did work immediately for me was to go to the "Lock Screen" settings then “Swipe down on the lock screen to use the camera” setting, turn it off, then back on, (it was already on) and the camera was back to normal once again.
My suggestion is to do this first, before anything else, and see if it works for you?

Diagonal lines/questionmarks showing up on templates of entire site

I have a huge website and don't want to have to start all over! Please help. On my iWeb, not the published site, I get all of these diagonal lines and question marks in the background. Part of the template is missing (details of stars in the kid blue template) The Web site itself doesn't have the lines, but some pictures are missing and some of the text is messed up. I don't know what to do to fix this. It has been suggested that I just eliminate the domain and start over. I pray that isn't my only option as I have spent many hours on the blog. I would greatly appreciate any help.

The lines show up on all of my pages within the iWeb program. The blog seems to be the most effected with missing pics and moved text in almost all of my blog posts... I have like 30 of them. I want to continue with the blog for my friends and family as we live on the opposite coast. We just bought an iMac and I'd like to work on my site some more, but don't know what I should do. If it is a currupt file, I don't want to bring the domain over to the new computer. I don't want to lose all of my work tho... what to do?
If I insert a new page wiith the same template, kids blue, it does the same thing. If I insert a different template, it doesn't have the lines.

You have corrupted Kid Blue template, I experienced something bad (not quite like this) when I was writing the templates installer for Suzanne (sboben).

Diagonal lines in timeline

I have just imported an old project from an older version of FCP to version 6.0.4, and my entire timeline has diagonal line across it, I can not seem to do any editing, it seems locked. Can anyone help?

The video track illustrated above is locked. Click the padlock icon to enable editing again. FCP saves this state if it is active when you quit your project.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't fix the problem Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Significant quality loss and jagged diagonal lines when exporting from FCP

I've been working on this problem for several days and I'm going insane! Every time I export my movie from Final Cut, there is a significant quality loss. It is most noticeable in two ways: diagonal lines become very jagged (looking somewhat like diagonal lines in an older video game -- more a diagonal sequence of blocks); also, in some areas such as faces, the colors get a little blurry and there seems to some "pooling" of colors around the edges of the face.
I'm pretty sure the problem's not in capture: the Quicktime clips that I captured from the camera are all pristine. When I play them in Quicktime, I can blow them up several times their original size, and they maintain their sharp lines. (I also Reverse Telecined them all with Cinema Tools, if that's relevant.) I also know the problem's not just my computer monitor; when I play these movies on my external monitor and TV, they look bad too. The clips look bad after I bring them into Final Cut, and while I'm editing, but at first I figured that was because Final Cut sometimes doesn't show full resolution in the timeline. Still, when I export, the quality of the original captures just isn't there.
Some details:
Captured from 24A progressive, Sony HVR V1U HDV.
Using Final Cut 6.0.1, Compressor 3.0.1, Quicktime 7.2.0, OS 10.4.10 (all the most recent versions I believe).
I've exported in many different ways: using Compressor (and have tried a number of different settings: the DVD Best Quality 90 Minutes default Setting, as well as using a variety of bit rates from 3.0-8.0, One pass CBR, Two pass CBR, Two pass VBR, Two pass VBR best; Video Formats NTSC, HD 1440x1080...I have tried many combinations. Regardless of the size of the m2v created, the files seem to have the same problem over and over. I've also tried exporting from Final Cut as a Quicktime Movie and with Quicktime Conversion. Same result. I also tried using different compressors with my Final Cut sequence: Apple Intermediate Codec (which I used when capturing -- you have to with the Sony HVR), HDV 1080p24, HDV 1080i60, Apple Pro Res 422, H.264...
What's happening? Why is Final Cut turning my nice pristine captures into jagged foulness? What can I try that I haven't yet?

Unfortunately, you seem to have tried everything I can think of, and I don't have the latest versions of FCP to know if it is a bug. However, in the off chance that you haven't given this a shot:
Take a problematic 10 second section of your timeline (set in and out points) and the Export -> Quicktime (not QT Conversion) and make sure that you have it on Quality settings that you captured, and select the "Make Self Contained" box.
Look at that in Quicktime and see if it's bad. If it's not problematic, use that video file in Compressor for your render.

Two clips that are overlaid creates white line when rendered

In Final Cut Pro 7, I have copied a clip on top of itself in the timeline.
- The clip on top was then moved to the right so that the clip below would be seen slightly ( I needed a way to scoot the subject over while preserving the background on the left side. It is a black and white image over a flush gray background).
- When the clips are renderd, a white vertical line appears between the two clips
- The white line remains when exporting, and remains when it is uploaded to vimeo
- I need it to be gone! It is not there before rendering the timeline, but appears afterward!!!

What happens if you crop the right image a bit more? Does the line show up?
