Clips not loading

Hello
The Problem
When I import a folder with movie clips to the Project window the clips (in thumbnail medium view) start loading until they stop loading (image).
I can then only preview those which have loaded and if I try to preview those that haven't the program won't response.
My Approach
I've tried to restart the program and then it would load a few more clips but will stop loading eventually. Once it stops loading it won't load anything else.
My Setup
I am using a MacBook Pro 17" 2.93GHz, 4GB ram, MacOSX 10.5.8
Premiere Pro CS4 v4.1.0
I think it can't be a lack of memory but maybe what is wrong is the way the program handles it.
I really appreciate any kind of help. Please excuse my English.

Thank you Harm Millaard and Jim Simon for your answers.
I understand ther might be some compatible problems although the program did load some of the clips.
Is there any plug in or update I can get to make Premiere Pro run Sanyo Xacti's H.264 correctly?

  • Clips not loading correctly in Timeline?

    I am cutting back a long event. My Timeline currently runs over 3 hours.
    Everything was working fine until I began to encountering a strange problem.
    Whenever I drop a clip into the timeline it does not automatically show up in the timeline until I click down the Timeline. The clip then magically appears.
    Clips also show up in the timeline without the first frame image displayed- instead it's a white box with an X through it.
    Also- as I scroll the canvas the Timeline no longer scrolls along. In other words if I park my canvas scroll bar to another location on the project- my Timeline does not update itself to reflect this change in location. (It always did so before)
    Could this be due to the fact that my Timeline is so long?
    My hard drive still has plenty of space left (261gig).
    Thanks.

    Yes....that timeline is too long to work with. When you are done and ready to output you can have the one timeline, but for just working and editing, make the timelines smaller. I generally break my timeline up into 10-30 min chunks, depending on what I am working on. I break them up by ACT for TV, or REEL for film, or just by subject matter or group of scenes if corporate or other. I work on them individually, then when I am done, I assemble the final timeline.
    3 hours...oof. That is REALLY long.

  • Audio data not loading with certain clips. Premiere Pro CC 2014, using .mts files

    When I open a project, sometimes a clip will not load its audio data. In the photo I've attached, you can see the video clip on the right has the waveforms showing up, but not for the clip on the left. Rendering does nothing, I've tried clearing Premiere's cache, and I've signed out and back into Creative Cloud as I saw in another forum post with no success...any suggestions?

    Right clicking, and selecting "make offline" then re-linking the media seems to work. Thanks! Just weird how this happens sporadically with different clips in different projects when I open them.

  • Clips do not load into iMovie Project Browser

    I have imported a full feature Creative Commons movie into iMovie to edit for a short music video.  It downloaded in MP4 format and originally loaded into the Project browser but would not let me split clips.  I've tried converting it to .MOV in MPEG Streamclip and now the clips don’t even show up in the Project Browser.  I see the clips in the Event Browser but they will not load into Project Browser.  I've tried converting it to .MOV in Quicktime where I was able to split a clip.  I then tried to import that whole movie file into iMovie but it won’t import.  What am I doing wrong?

    When I have the iMovie Library (with the sub-file which iMovie-generated titled of “2015”) selected in the Sidebar the clips show in the Event Browser window but not in Project Browser window. The sub-file to “2015” is my movie name.  When I select this file, the Event Browser goes black with white-lettered words: “No clips found.”  There are no clips in the Project Browser as well.

  • Clip Notes in CS4/Acrobat 9: exports transcript, no controls for QuickTime

    When I use the Transcribe feature, then export my project to Clip Notes, it exports every transcribed word as a separate comment. There doesn't seem to be any way of suppressing that, and there doesn't seem to be a way of deleting a transcription either in PP or in Acrobat. The result is that the reviewer sees all these comments and has to fight with Acrobat to insert new comments. When I import the xfdf back into PP, I get the whole transcription loaded into markers along with the reviewer's comments. Unless I open every one, I can't tell what's what.
    Is there at least a way of deleting the transcription in PP or Acrobat?
    Also, if I export the video as QuickTime, there are no player controls in Acrobat. I only get player controls if I export as Windows Media. That means that some Mac users won't be able to use my Clip Notes exports. I've seen others asking about this, but no answers. Any ideas? I'm running this under Windows Vista Ultimate.

    But I find it amazing that there's no way to delete the damn thing. Adobe made a big deal of transcription, but it seems they didn't regard it as more than a gimmick, since they did it half-baked. I think you're right that it's best not to use this "feature".
    I don't know if it's necessarily half-baked, so much as it is an overly optimistic appraisal of the capability of the technology at this point in time. I mean, it does create words, and sometimes very interesting ones at that
    What's interesting to me is that when I tested out the transcribe feature back when Adobe released the beta of Soundbooth CS4, it was MUCH more accurate--and I was testing it on the mixed, final soundtrack of a documentary captured from Betacam SP. The transcription wasn't anywhere near 100%, but it was actually usable. Now, it struggles on pristine audio from a single, clear voice track. Wish it wasn't so...
    Anyway, you can stop the transcription from appearing in a Clip Notes export. Check out the following screenshot for the how-to:

  • Clip Notes streaming export causes Reader media clip error

    MacPro HDV captured into PPCS4, export OK to Adobe Clip Notes streaming, uploads .mov file to my FTP site OK. The .mov clip plays fine locally in QT. When I open the clip notes pdf in Acrobat 9 Reader for Mac or Acrobat 8 Pro on Vista, both give the same error on opening: Javascript window - error reading media clip. The clip does not load into the pdf, and I can not get error information to debug.
    Answer: I need QT streaming server. The Clip Notes streaming is true streaming, not progressive-download or pseudo-streaming. I did not see this in the Premiere CS4 documentation.

    I'm using Vista 64.
    I was having the same problem with the transport controls not showing up.
    I set AcroRd32.exe to run in XP mode and that fixed the problem with the embedded movie file.
    Transport controls show up.
    Thanks.
    I hoped that would also fix the QT streaming problem.
    However, if I select "Streaming" and upload it to my server then when the Clip Notes tries to play the file it says "
    This happened also before I set AcroRd32 to XP mode.
    No problem with "Clip Notes Windows Media" format.  It uploads and plays fine.
    The .mov file is on the server.   I can play it fine in a browser.
    Any ideas why Adobe Reader won't play a streaming .mov file in Clip Notes, but will play a streaming .wmv file?
    You really need to use QT so you can scrub the timeline.
    .wmv files don't let you scrub!
    Adobe why haven't you after all these years made Clip Notes use flash?
    If you did it would truly be cross-platform.
    Thanks.

  • Clip notes with reader 9 and premiere cs4

    After upgrading  reader to version 9 clip notes no longer works from Premiere CS3. It does work with premiere CS4 but a modification to reader by the reviewer is required to view the clip notes. Otherwise the video play/rewind etc buttons will be missing. This modification is detailed here www.alserver.co.uk/clipnotesreadme.pdf.
    I have discovered this after many hours of trial and error and have posted the workaround here for anyone else with the same problem. Adobe support have been as much use as a chocolate tea pot! why do they ruin such great feature of premiere.
    If anyone knows of a better workaround then please advise.

    ...real-time playback works fine in other high-load editing programs, as in the 2-series version of Avid Media Composer (which, by the way, played back just fine on my GeForce card and CPU/RAM configuration.)  I wanted to go to Premiere because of my other CS programs.  That said, I'd like to take a different approach other than simply throwing money and horsepower at a problem that might simply be a configuration issue.
    Thanks!

  • Thumbnails not loading, crashing in Premiere CS5.5

    I'm working with a ton of Apple XDCAM EX 1920x1080 files. It was shot over the course of five days, organized by day and then each day has folders for each card. I'm importing all the footage into Premiere CS5.5. Because there is so much footage I like to look at things in thumbnail view to quickly see what's what. But, starting in Day four and going into Day 5, the clips stop loading thumbnails. When I click on some of these "blank" clips, Premiere freezes up and crashes.
    I have an older build of CS6 (my company has yet to actually BUY CS6) and the problem doesn't happen. All the clips have thumbnails. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

    I'm working on a 2010 Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.8, with Premiere 5.5.2. The issue is happening in the Project panel. Nothing has been added to the timeline (but the Sequence settings are Sony XDCAM HD 1080p, 23.976fps). The crash is indeed from a corrupt file, but it was only one. The rest play back fine in the Source monitor, no crashing, just no thumbnails.
    For testing, I opened a new project in FCP and all the thumbnails show up and it even plays back the corrupt file. And, as I said, they show up in an older CS6 build of Premiere.
    It's not THAT big of a deal, just a minor frustration. Wanted to see if its happened to anyone else. Thanks guys!

  • Using Preloader But Content Not Loading

    Hi.
    Here's the Cliffs Notes version:
    I've a 2 frame movie: Frame 1 is the preloader; Frame 2 a movie clip (web site).
    Both work fine individualy, but the dynamic content I want pre-loaded is not loaded into the movie clip (web site) after the preloader animations.
    Verbose version:
    I'm have a preloader on frame 1 of the timeline. Here's the code:
    stop ();
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener (ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onLoading);
    this.loaderInfo.addEventListener (Event.COMPLETE, onComplete);
    function onLoading (evt:ProgressEvent):void
              var loaded:Number = evt.bytesLoaded / evt.bytesTotal;
              percent_txt.text = (loaded * 100).toFixed(0) + "%";
              var counter = (loaded * 100) * 3.6;
              masked_mc.mask = masking_mc;
              masked_mc.rotation = counter;
    //          trace (masked_mc.rotation);
              if (masked_mc.rotation < 0)
                        masked_mc.mask = null;
    function onComplete (event:Event):void
              this.loaderInfo.removeEventListener (ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, onLoading);
              this.loaderInfo.removeEventListener (Event.COMPLETE, onComplete);
              gotoAndStop (2);
    On frame 2 is only a movie clip (a web site).
    In this movie clip on frame 1, I have a dynamic text field into which gets loaded some external text, styled with HTML and CSS.
    At the moment, when a visitor comes to the site for the first time, he can actually see the text load, then see the CSS styles get applied. I would like to use my preloader so that this text loading and styling is completed before they get to see the home page.
    Trouble is the, while the preloader itself works, the HTML and CSS still does not get loaded until after the preloader. This makes sense as the code for calling and loading the HTML/CSS is in the movie clip.
    So I thought, put the code....
    //NEWS --------------------------
    // Load the external .swf "navidNews.swf".
    var navidNewsSWF:String = "assets/fla/navidNews.swf";
    var navidNewsURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest(navidNewsSWF);
    var navidNewsLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    navidNewsLoader.load(navidNewsURLRequest);
    //Put "navidNews.swf" on the stage.;
    newsContainer_mc.addChild(navidNewsLoader);
    into frame 1, same as that for the code for the preloader. But because the empty movie clip into which navidNews.swf is loaded is not in the same frame as the preloader there are errors.
    Okay, move empty movie clip newsContainer_mc into frame 1 with preloader, which will hide the news container.
    What am I missing? Should I not put a movie clip of my web site on frame 2, but instead move the preloader into the web site movie clip, putting it on frame 1?
    I've been playing musical frames with this thing for two days now.......

    load the text and css in frame one (they need not be be used until frame 2) and incorporate those into your preloader.

  • Thumbnails not loading

    Ok so I'm running CS6 and working on a project that has around 100 Canon XF clips (from a C300) in the project. I want to be able to scroll through my clips in the project window so that I can quickly grab certain shots without having to load them all into the source monitor.
    When the project opens the thumbnails for the 12 or so clips currently being shown in the project window are automatically displayed fine, but when I scroll down the list the remaining thumnails only get created as those clips become visible in the project window, very frustrating! I have to scroll down a few clips at a time in order to try and get thumnails to display for all of the clips. To make matters worse, after about 50 of the clips have loaded thumnails the process just stops, I'm left with a whole bunch of grey squares in the project window leaving me to guess what the content may be thats hiding behind them.
    I'm on a 12 core Mac Pro with 48 Gigs of Ram, and a CUDA enabled Nvidia Quadro GPU.  The clips are all located on an internal SSD drive with caches stored on a second SSD drive. The machine is at idle during this whole process with barely any load visible so why are these thumnails proving to be such a problem for my machine to display?
    Thanks

    Hi - Firefox, Safari and Ebay thumbnails not loading.
    Suffered from this problem ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard.
    I can confirm by turning off my Belkin Routers firewall ... and double checking my Macs firewall is on and up to scratch, has cured this most frustrating problem.
    So I must surmise, that the bug is in Snow Leopard. Cant really blame Belkin. Apple needs to address this problem in their next upgrade as it has wasted countless hours.It worked before ... but not after upgrade.
    I'd feel a lot happier though if my main router (Belkin) had its firewall on as well.
    Lets see what happens next! Hope this helps.

  • Images not loading from xml

    Hi,
    I have a webpage created in flash which uses xml to load specific gallerys into movie clips. Everything works fine in preview, but when uploaded it doesn't work. When you click on film or any of the other galleries, the galley does not load. I don't know whether this has something to do with the hosting or not. I'm only begining to use xml so my knowledge is quite limited. Any help would be much appreciated.  The website adress is below. I've also attached my action script. Cheers

  • Transitions will not load - PLEASE HELP!!

    I've been dealing with this for some time ... when I'm in the edit window and click on transitions, they will not load. I've spent a lot of time online with support and got only temporary use of transitions. The first time I visited support, the tech was able to take control of my computer and get them working. That lasted for a few days, then they quit working again. I went back to support and a different tech didn't get me all the way through the process, and ended the session after telling me to remove and reinstall, which I did (again). Still, there is no functionality of transitions. They appear to be loading, but I've waited up to 30 minutes before I've clicked out. Please, can someone help me out?

    The red lines that Steve was referring to, are when you drag your Clips to the Timeline, prior to doing any editing.
    It is natural for red lines to appear above Clips, when any overlay, or Effects are added to the Clips, such as a Title, a Transition, or any parameter/Keyframing done to the Clip. That indicates that for smoothest playback, one would want to Render the Clips (or Timeline), for the best playback.
    Having an HP, I would go to HP's Web site, and check for a newer video driver.
    Steve's question on the screen resolution is a good one, as to get the full display of the GUI, there is a minimum screen resolution.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Export from Speedgrade gives me "Reel Not Loaded" grey box

    Thanks in advance for any help.
    I sent to Speedgrade from Premiere pro... It didn't load correctly (it gave me reel not loaded errors") so I went to my desktop and added all the dpx files into a new timeline and closed the first one.  Then I proceeded to color correct the ensuing timeline.  All is happy so far.
    Then I went to output and chose Apple Pro Res 444 @23.976 FPS and rendered.  When I imported the clip into Premiere Pro some of the color corrected clips made it fine, but others were simply represented by a little grey box in the top left corner which gives me the name of the file (00.00.01.15-clip...) and says "Reel not loaded".
    When I watch the clips in the timeline they look great.  What am I doing wrong in the export?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Did you ever figure this out. I am having the exact same issue.
    I sent my project from premiere pro 6 to adobe speedgrade and a bunch of the reels would not load, so I removed the video track and loaded the reels from the desktop by navigating to th efolder where PP6 created the .dpx files.
    That LOOKED like it worked.
    Th ereels that were not loaded and represented by the grey screen were playing and fully editable, but not that I sent th efootage to AfterEffects to kill a few dead pixels I see that those clips that said that they had not loaded before still have not "loaded"
    Everything plays fine in the timeline, but the output gives me the "reel not loaded..." error message.
    ... This is the first time this has happened to me with SG after producing 4 30-40 minute projects, and this is supposed to be a rush job.
    Any insight?

  • XML data is not loading inside buttons !

    Hi there... it is an urgent issue: My application only loads
    the XML data to the "main" dynamic text fieds.. but all the rest
    which are "inside" a button do not load them !!! why ? is there any
    special way to load them ?
    the way I loaded to the "main" text fields is:
    promo01title_txt.text =
    obj_xml.firstChild.childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
    I do the same for the buttons but it does not work.. am I
    supposed to type a prefix or something like that before the text

    Jiten

    If I understand your post you have dynamic text fields on the
    stage that you are loading string values from an XML file into the
    text property. It sounds like you are trying to take XML strings
    and then load them to a text field that is part of another movie
    clip. Based on your code it would be simply
    myButton.mytextfield.text =
    xml.firstchild.childNodes[0].firstchild.nodeValue
    You need to give the complete movieclip path of the
    textfield. If it is part of another movie clip then you need to
    start with that movieclips name then the name of the
    textfield.
