Clips not showing up in iMovieHD

Brand new to iMovie...I'm ding everything correctly but clips are not showing up in either place...movie is playing on camera but not on iMovie screen. I do get some minutes of the beginning of the movie on screen(iMovie) but then it goes Blue and says 'Camera is playing'. At end of movie I was expecting iMovie to fill-in all the clips.
Does it fill in clips as it's played? I want the whole movie captured. All connections are correct. Even the Magic Movie does not capture the clips...cannot understand it. Anyone have any tips on getting this movie made?
Thanks in advance!

I have a similar problem...but I don't get the first few minutes of video. On my iMac screen, I get that the camera is recognized and blue screen. It tells me onscreen when I am "playing" or "seeking forward" etc., but when I try to "import" though, the "import" button no longer works (it worked 1/2 hour before this). I've plugged and unplugged the firewire cords, turned off the camera, checked the tape, etc. To me, it seems to be a software issue. I just tried it on our Intel Macbook Pro and I have no problem importing the video.
The problem seemed to happen after I imported about 8 minutes of video this morning and then when I stopped it gave me a message I've never seen before (something about "organizing video clips") which like the "letterboxing" message seemed to take forever. Under a time crunch, I attempted to quit iMovie during this organizing process. It didn't happen right away, so I went on to do something else. When I returned, it gave me the options of quitting, saving or canceling. I opted to cancel and continue to import. At that point, however, the import button no longer worked.
I work at a university, so I don't have the install disks myself and wonder if anyone else has had this problem and been able to work around it without reinstalling the software. (I can contact our IT people, but it's a real pain and very time consuming to get them here to reinstall...plus, they are not "Mac people" so they like to give me a lot of c.r.a.p. about how PCs don't have this or that issue...sigh).
Thanks!
Sally

  • Clips not showing up in project

I recently upgrade to FCE 2. I like the "capture now" option when capturing. The only problem is when i import clips they do not show up in the browser after capturing. They are imported into the proper scratch folder but i have to import them into the project for them to be in the browser. How can i get the clips to immediatley show up in the browser.
    Thank You in advance

Make sure you're using v2.0.3. Trash your preferences and make sure you only have one project open at a time, and the browser is the active window, when you open the capture window.

  • Clips not showing up

I have built movies in iMovie06 that work great. Just got iMovie08
but when I try to open movies already created in iMovie06 the only thing
that shows up are titles. No quicktimes or clips.
Any idea why they are not showing up?

  • Selecting Clips, adding keyword, selected clip not showing up in keyword collection

I am having issues while editing a soccer game for a highlight reel.  I have done this many times without issue, but with one project, for certain keyword selections, it is not showing up.  I am selecting a clip from a longer piece of game footage, then hitting command-k to open the keyword collection shortcut interface.  I'm inputting the keyword into it and hitting return.  It makes the sound like the clip has been marked as a key word, but when I go into the keyword collection in the event history, the clip is not showing up.  Again, this is only occuring in one project and hasn't been an issue in the 10 other similar projects I've done.  Any thoughts?  Is there any way to fix this recoding the entire game? Thanks.

There shouldn't be any sound, just the animation and the blue bar. Are you getting that? Make sure there is nothing in the search field in the browser. Try trashing prefs.

  • Imported clips not showing up in Event

I have version 10.0.5 and imported video clips from my iPhone.  The file size shows 9.5GB yet no clips are showing up.  They were in the Event prior to my quitting iMovie but when I reopened it shows Empty.  Help?

I think I ought to mention that I also have a new laptop and have experienced file sharing permission issues with some applications. Might this be part of the problem? (Although everything seems to be properly owned!)

  • After effects color corrected clip not showing correctly in Premiere

    Hello all,
I have recently made a short film with a few effects in Premiere and After effects CS4.  I have used the Dynamic Link to accomplish this.  I have added color correction with Color Finesse in After effects.  The problem is I some of the color correction is not showing up in Premiere once it has finished.  Some of them are adjustment layers and some are not and the ones that are showing up are diverse like that as well.  I have rendered the footage and rendered the premiere time line, it fixes it at first but won't build a DVD the right way then the fixes just seem to disappear when scrolling through the timeline.
Is anyone else haveing this problem?
Do you think it's something wrong that an update will fix?
    Maybe a new codec?

  • Masked pre comp of clip not showing clip motion within the mask please help

    Hi there,
I'm trying to create a phenakistoscope Phenakistoscope - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia out of a motion picture of a dancer.
I've transformed the clip of the dancer and precomposed it and then masked and animated the rotation of the pre comp in a new composition.  I then duplicated the now animated pre comp 20 times offsetting each one, a frame later than the last to create the wheel effect with trailing frames.
The animation of the mask and offset is working fine, however the footage in the clip is not playing in the masked composition.
please help, here is the project file. Dropbox - caropheankistope.aep

I'm replying to your question on my phone so I can't look at your project but I did look at your video.
Here is what I would do to troubleshoot the project. First run a RAM preview of the pre-composed and masked wedge comp. If that plays back correctly then everything else should work unless you have applied some kind of time effect to the duplicated layers. If that doesn't work then show us a screenshot of that pre-comp with all of the properties of the movie layer revealed (Press that u key twice).
If you have not sorted this out by the time I get back the office I will try and take a look at your project.

  • All clips not showing up in logging bin

    the setup:
    MacPro 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    4GB RAM
    OS 10.4.10
Fibre Channel to 2 Media Vaults
    FCP 6.0.1
    The problem:
    We shoot HVX200 to P2 DVCPROHD 720p.
When doing the log & transfer to ingest,
only a few clips out of several are showing up in my bin.
The QTs are being created and show up as captured media on the Media Vault, but only a random few show up in my bin in FCP.
I always set logging bin, I've trashed prefs, and repaired permissions. The workaround is to simply import the clips after they've been converted to QT, but it's a real pain.
Anyone seen this before and have a solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Why are compound clips not showing as such in FCPX any more?

I opened a project in FCPX which has been languishing for a while. It consists if a number of compound clips. However these are not being treated as such by the application anymore. They appear as regular clips, and I have to right click on them and select "open in timeline" to get them to show their contents. When I go back out of the clip! they retain their regular clip appearance.
How can I get proper compound clip behaviour from them?

    Tom -
TBH, I really can not remember how I made them - I started this some time ago, and I decided I really should get back to it an finish it. I started this sometime late 2011/early 2012, so the compound clips would have been made using whaever option was available at the time.
So, this is what I see in my timeline. The clip “Moscow” is a compound clip.
When I right-click on it, I see this:
Selecting Open in timeline gets me into the compund clip:
A couple of the clips in there are are compund clips too - but you won’t know it from looking at the interface. This seems to be the only project I have that is affected like this.

  • Clips not showing Video, Only Audio on FCP X

I'm working on a video on Final Cut Pro X and am still rusty on it compared to the previous verisons.  I have several clips I have to put together into a longer video.  However when I try to put the clips onto the timeline, I only get the audio portion, not the video portion.
I tried importing the clips again after deleting them from the project, still the same issue.  The clips are playable through Quicktime and also in the FCPX's preview window.
I was messing around with some shortcut keys earlier today, picking some tricks up so I think I might have pressed something that somehow disabled the video from showing up, leaving only the audio portion.

  • Clips not showing up in list view

MacBook Pro 10.7.1 Lion - Whenever I click on list view my clips don't show up. When I click back on filmstrip view final cut x crashes. This doesn't happen on my MacPro Desktop.

Have you tried trashing your preferences?
Faults like this can sometimes be fixed by clearing out FCP X's preferences (for some reason, they get knotted up from time to time).
Download Digital Rebellion's Preference Manager (free, simple to use, and quite safe).
With Pref Manager, you can backup the Prefs first, then if trashing makes no difference, you can restore all your settings.
If you trash them and don't restore them, you will need to go over your FCP X settings again, so it's a great idea to backup Preferences from time to time when FCP X is working well, then you can ditch the bad prefs and restore from your (Digital Rebellion) backup.
It's worth a try otherwise, there is some conflict.
I suggest you create a new user account on the problem machine and see whether FCP X works OK from there.
What codec is the problem clip?

  • Clips not showing up when trying to import to iMovie

I have a Panasonic HDC-SD90.  When attaching by USB or by taking out the SD card and inserting into the side of my iMac I can only import 4 of the 35 or so video clips on the SD card.  Any ideas?  I have already clicked on "Camera" in the import window to see if the clips were recorded in different file types to no avail. Thanks

Is it possible that some of the clips were recorded in 60P? iMovie does not natively edit 60P.
    There are several options.
You could convert it to 30P using an app like ClipWrap.
You can edit 60P in Final Cut Pro X.
Finally, although I haven't tried this myself, some have reported that they have hacked iMovie to be able to edit 60P. Here is a blog post, for example. http://ianperegian.com/My_FZ35_38_Webpage/Edit_1080_50p_and_burn_a_disk.html

If you open the the associated Events Folder (where the files are physically stored on your HD) and the Trash Can folder in the Finder and then select the "Move Rejected Clips to Trash" iMovie menu option, you can watch iMovie re-write the data files followed by the clip files disappearing from the Finder and paired "Temporary" folders appear in the Trash Can folder. If you then open the "Temporary" folders in the Trash Can folder, you will find the actual clip files, the associated thumbnails, etc. Therefore, if you don't see any files in your trash can, you must have emptied the trash can at some point or possibly looked in it before iMovie had finished re-writing the data and moved the resulting files -- a process which can take some time to do.
ADDED: Oops! Looks like you figured it out while I was writing....
