Clips out of order in CS5 Media Browser

Could someone please explain to me why my clips in media browser are completely out of order from the way they were shot?  I transferred the files directly into a file on the computer then called up those files from the media browser.  They don't appear in chronilogical order.  Also when I try to pull up the files in Bridge, I don't get a clip thumbnail even though it is checked.  White squares appear with no image.

In the top right of the media browser, there is a little icon called the flyout menu...  click it and choose 'Edit Columns'.
Put a checkmark in the box called 'date Created'and then click ok
Now, at the top of the media browser the columns 'Name', FilePath, 'DateCreated' should be listed.  You can sort your media by any of those columns by clicking on them.
Not sure about bridge... maybe someone else can help you with that.

  • CS5 Media browser - missing clips

    Hello all,
Tried to use media browser to import clips and it will only see SOME of them.
I transferred the entire AVCHD native root folder from each of my 3 cameras and placed them on my PC's media drive in folders labeled camera 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Camera 1 media browser will only see files 99-154
    Camera 2 it sees nothing
Camera 3 it sees all of them
This is when viewing as "AVCHD" in the media browser window. If I select "View as: File Directory" it sees every file in each of the cameras folders. If I navigate through the folder structure in Windows Explorer all the clips/files are present.
My cameras had all been cleared of any other footage prior to the shoot, contained only footage was from the day of this particular shoot. Oh, and just to help with trouble shooting....FCP's log and transfer window sees everything just fine, so I am fairly certain that it is not file/folder corruption
    My own trouble shooting:
Connecting camera 1 to the PC directly via USB and CS5 media browser when Viewing as: AVCHD, sees files 99-154
Connected to the Mac, CS5 media browser when Viewing as: AVCHD sees files 99-154
Connected to the SAME Mac opened FCP's Log and Transfer window and it sees everything. Files 1-154 with thumbnails.
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!?  Please help......thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this.

Well I am just gonna keep posting my research on this matter here on this forum in hopes that SOMEBODY......ANYBODY....can help me to find out the reason for this issue.
I filmed a wedding Saturday with 4 Panny HDC-HS700 AVCHD cams.  Shot b-roll all morning, shot the ceremony, then the reception.
my camera 2 had 96 files on it.  all the files were short clips except for the ceremony which was about 27 min. long.  NONE of the files on this camera exceeded the 4gb file size limit of the camera's harddrive.  So there were no spanned files.
PPRO would not see ANY of these clips in the media browser when in "View as: AVCHD" but would see all of them in "View as: file directory"
    Now for the fun part.
I turned my camera on made 6 more short clips to put the total to 102 and then  recorded for an hour and ten mins. straight.  creating a spanned avchd file in with all the other 102 clips.
Plugged the camera into the PC directly, and found that PPRO now sees clips 97-103 in "View as: AVCHD" in the media browser....but the first 96 are not there still?!?!?!?!?!?
I have another instance where I filmed a pretty large job in Atlanta a few months back, so I pulled that footage in........it would again see all the files in "View as: file directory"  but this time in "View as: AVCHD" it would see files 1-20 then skip to files 121-259
I will add again that Final Cut Pro 7's Log and Transfer window has seen ALL of the above mentioned clips spanned and unspanned without issue whatsoever.
PLEASE HELP.....starting to lose my mind here.
I HOPE that I am doing something wrong....so that the fix will be easy.

  • How to make the zoom in/out scale appear in the media browser ?

How to make the zoom in/out scale appear in the media browser ? My videos only appear as a file list (only the names) and the zoom in/out device is currently not in the media browser...

I meant that there is no "Icon mode" button or "List mode" button in my media browser. How to make them appear ?

  • Media browser cache?

Is there a reason why the thumbnails in the media browser must be recreated every time I scroll the browser up or down? every time I review a clip and go back to the Media Browser it has to refresh from scratch, apparently because there is no cache.
    See http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/926347

The reason is that Adobe didn't program this aspect of Premiere Pro very well.  It definitely needs correcting.  Please let them know.

  • Can you see which timeline clips are being used in Media Browser?

I'm a relatively new user and may not be familiar enough with cs5.5 but
is there a way to see what clips are being used on the editing timeline in the media browser.
I open premiere pro - Project is loaded. I edit the scene until it is finished.
When I look over at the media browser, all my raw clips (some of which I'm
using on the editing timeline) look the same - I can't tell which ones I using on the timeline.
The reason I ask - when I fiinish editing a scene it would be nice to glance over at the
media brower folder where my raw clips are located - easily see which ones I'm using because they
are highlighted or checked and then delete the ones I no longer need.
Is there a way to do this now?
    Thanks
    Jeff

I dont think so  but a better way is to look in the top of the Project Window and there is a drop down that will show you all the useage instances of the clip.  You can click on them to go to them in the timeline.

Perhaps you don't want to hear from me, I don't know.
I'll answer just this one little question.  Try to get your mind around what color management does, I promise it does make sense (outside of unexplained problems on particular computers).
You want to save your web image with the sRGB profile embedded because some Internet browsers are color managed, and with an embedded profile it's more likely someone will see your image colors just as you intended.
The assumption is that a lowly windows user with a cheap monitor and Internet Explorer will be seeing any image you save as "roughly" sRGB anyway.  Tagging the image with sRGB only affects those with color-managed browsers.
You're looking for the most possible consistency for the viewing audience.

  • Media Browser "processing" clips forever, keeps jumping up to top...

When I want to import clips via the media browser, I try to scroll down and while some clips have an image, most say "processing". And as I try to scroll further down, it is constantly jumping back up to the top. I thought I would leave it in peace for a while to "process", but when I returned to the computer, this was still happening, and even clips which had previously been displayed with an image had returned to being non-descript boxes with "processing" on them.
What is going on? Is it because there are too many clips in this folder?

welcome to the media browser hell that is Adobe Premiere. The good news is you are not alone and Adobe are aware of it. The bad news is they have been aware of the problem for a couple of years and have yet to roll out a fix.
Bug reports don't seem to have done the trick so am hoping that someone from adobe reads these forums and give us some much needed help.
one work around, although a pain in the a%$$ is to have the media browser set as list and have lightroom / bridge as the viewer of the clip thumbnails. a slow and clunky work around but kinda works.

  • When dragging in folder from media browser, some clips missing?

I've noticed a strange problem where if I drag a folder with video clips in from the media browser, not all of the clips will make it into the project all of the time.
Whereas if I open up that folder and select all the media files individually, they all make it into the project.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency that I can see when I drag in a folder and not all the files therein make it into the project. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before? This must be a bug.
Currently using Premiere Pro CC 2014 - 2014.0.1 on a Mac Pro (Mid 2010)

Actually - technically all of these clips are in the project. See I have a lot of unlogged clips in my project. I'm having another editor log the clips on a different computer, then I'm bringing the logged clips back into the project, and then just double checking the file count of the original folder and the file count of the new folder to see that they match up.
Does this shed any more light? The fact it's not consistent is what is weird. Is it possible maybe the clips that are already in a project and in a sequence somewhere don't get imported?
Any thoughts on how I can make the process smoother given the work flow? Thanks.

  • Help needed in exporting a ProRes 422 clip out of CS5 AE

First, I have very limited skills in AE, but I just used it to rescue a scene from a high profile interview.  The subject had taken a sip of water that left a incredibly shiny reflective spot over is mouth and I was able to use the clone tool and paint over the affected frames.  I could probably have used the Motion Tracking tool and a mask...but I've probably learned the hard way.
    So here's my question...
This project started in Final Cut Pro.  The footage is 1080p 29.97 ProRes 422.   I duplicated the affected ProRes clip (about one minute) and started an AE project with it.  The clip resides as a layer in the composition.   The clone tool changes that I made are recorded in the Effects tab that is now part of the dropdown menu in the clip.   Although I probably should have done this on an adjustment layer (so it's non-destructive), but will make a note for next time.
I have reviewed the clip in AE frame by frame and the results appear to be great.
The question is...how do I get my corrected ProRes clip out of AE so I can use it in Final Cut?   Is the way that I did this did I end up baking in these changes to existing ProRes 422 clip and I don't have to render it, etc.?
Or do i have to go in to the AE project and toggle something within the composition, highest quality, collapse something...and then possibly do a render output?   I want to end up with how it began...ProRes 422.
Any detailed advice would be extremely helpful so I can preserve the high quality work I've done in AE!
    Thanks, John

Well, I answered my own question.  Rendered out the clip with the lowless animation codec Quicktime movie.  Then used Apple's Compressor to convert it back to ProRes 422.  Brought it back into FCP and it looked great.   You can't tell any repair work has been done on the image.
I would have used Adobe's Media Encoder to convert it to ProRes, but from tests I've done previously, and in fact did a thread on it in Premiere's forum about one month ago, the Media encoder tends to slightly soften a ProRes image.  And this is something I've reported back to Adobe...along with a chroma tearing issue as it encodes back to ProRes.  Hopefully there will be a patch to correct this behavior.

Did you transfer a Quicktime movie files from the Mac Pro to your iMac?  If so make sure the video plays correctly in Quicktime Player.  If it does you can put it in your Movies folder and from there drag it into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.  It doesn't have to come from iMovie. You can just drag and drop into iDVD.

I am trying to convert an iMovie to an iDVD. In the project window the movie shows an icon to the left of the title and to the right it shows a speaker symbol and 4 screens. However when I go to Share the media browser is grayed out. Do I have to do something else or have I done something wrong?

  • Media Browser - Clips reload after scroll

Hi and thanks for stopping by to offer some advice. I'm working with some Sony EX3 footage in premiere, viewing the clips in the media browser. When I load the folder and scroll through the clips they load, but then it seems to crash and reload from the beginning again. Any ideas what could be causing this?

    What version of Premiere?
Have you installed all applicable updates?
I think this was a CS6 bug that was resolved in CS6 updates.
    I can't advise regarding CC7.
