Clock in Menu Bar not Updating!

Hi.
I am using a month old Macbook Pro MD101 OS X Yosemite Version 10.10. Sometimes, the clock in the menu bar is not updating. I still need to click it once in order for it to be updated. The solution in this thread is not helpful because I have no iStat installed. --> Menu bar clock not updating except when clicked
The date and time is set automatically under "Apple Asia (time.asia.apple.com.)" since I'm from Asia. Timezone is set automatically as well.
Please help!

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Log out, log back in, and test. If there's no change, put the file you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the file you moved. You may need to recreate some of your settings for optional menu-bar items.

  • Date & Time in menu bar not updating

My "Date & time" info in the top right menubar does not "run": it only updates to the current time when I click it.
I have it set as digital showing seconds but it just doesn't run, it's stuck on the last date/time I updated by clicking it.
    I never had this before
I use MacPro with Mac OS Lion 10.7.5
    Any reason?

@straycatcn, you're not the only one, no. I just starting having the same problem recently, and I'm not yet certain how to fix it. There are no errors that I can find in the console logs, and a reboot doesn't seem to fix the issue. Have you come up with a cause and/or solution?

  • How to display multiple clocks in menu bar?

Is there an app that can display multiple clocks in different time zones, side by side, like the regular system clock?

Don't forget you can add multiple clock widgets to Dashboard, and the info icon will allow you to set the location/ timezone.

  • Menu bar not appears in some applications.

    Hi, all!
I have a strange problem and really need help:
top menu bar not appears, when i start some applications.
For example, Numbers, keynote, quicktime and, in the end, Finder!
Problem solves when i replace the .app file of the application with the file from another computer, but it appears again with another application. No errors, no messages, just no menu bar in the top.
I don't know why it happens and don't know how to diagnose this problem.

Sometimes something as simple as restarting the computer will resolve system quirks. If that does not work, boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751

  • Menu bar not working after update

I installed the update to Muse this morning and opened a site and the menu bar doesn't work. When I click on it, I can see the different states, but it doesn't take me to any of my pages. Also some of the attributes of my states have been changed. For instance, when I mouse over a couple of them, a fill is there (which is how I wanted it) but when I mouse over a couple others, the fill has been removed.  The new version messed up my footer, which I was able to change but I'm real nervous to open any of my other, larger sites with this new version.
I'm going back to the previous version for now but is there a fix for these issues?

  • Spry menu bar not working in IE

    Hi there,
This is the first time I'm using Spry.  Everything was fine until I tested the site in IE. My top menu moves position upon rollover and the submenu doesn't show at all. I looked at the forums and thought I would add the IE hack into the code, but upon doing that I saw that it was already there. I'm not sure where to go from here.  Please help, many thanks in advance!
Update Note: I just noticed it says it's version 1.4. I did update to 1.6.  When I check for Spry updates it does say I am using 1.6, but appears to be 1.4 in the css code. Any reason why?

OK... what I needed was a proper update... not sure why it didn't work the first time, but now I am definitely running 1.6.  My initial problems are no longer relevant.
However.... this created a few other obstacles. The background color, text color, text-transform, and all hover attributes are not working in IE.  Confused I am.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE

Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.

  • Spry Vertical Menu Bar not working in IE8

I've upgraded to 1.6.1, but it still doesn't work in IE8 unless in compatibility mode.  http://jimgreenrealty.com/Test.html
Works fine in other browsers and other Spry elements appear to work normally in IE8.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Steve B.

If you deselect compatibility mode on IE8 the menu bar disappears (on
all our computers anyway).  Works fine in all other versions of IE and
all other browsers.  Updated to Spry 1.6.1 and still no avail.
Here it is w/o the emulating statement: http://jimgreenrealty.com/Test.html
The other pages on the site still have it.
    Thanks for looking at it.

  • Menu bar not displaying properly

On boot-up I am have a recurring problem. About 80% of the time I login to my account (1 user, auto logs in on startup), several menu bar icons do not load. This includes 3rd party icons and 2nd party icons (built-in). It's difficult to compare the menu bar with everything loaded properly and when some things are missing because I can't look at both at once =/ . The noticeable absences include lack of battery status icon, wifi connectivity icon, and iStat menus CPU usage. Even when I go to System Preferences to make sure that it says "Show ____ status in menu bar" is checked, and when I uncheck and recheck it, nothing happens. Oftentimes I just have to log out and log back in, however it usually doesn't work. Any ideas as to what might be causing this.

The menu bar extras are handled by SystemUIServer, which evidently is having a problem with something you have installed. While it seems to be more robust in Leopard than it was in earlier versions of Mac OS, it can still choke up on third party things (it used to choke even on some Apple menu bar extras). First take a look in your startup items, and see what, if anything, is there and loading menu bar extras, make a note of what it is so you can add it back later, and delete it.
Then try deleting the preference list for SystemUIServer:
    /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
and also the cache file for it:
    /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.systemuiserver.0017f20dca84 .plist
Log out and back in. Now go to the Apple items and re-enable the ones you need. Run for awhile and restart. Next add ONE of the third-party items back and see how things go. Each time you restart put another item back. You ought to eventually figure out which one is causing the problem. You'll have to learn to live without it, or check to see if the program that has it has an updater for Leopard.

  • Status in Menu Bar - not showing and can't be selected

I have just found that none of the Apple Preference Panes will permit their status to be shown in the Menu Bar - whilst none Apple Preference Panes do.
At first I thought it was just Time Machine. I noticed the Time Machine icon swirling around in a finder window and went to click on its Menu Bar icon to see how much data it was backing up (hence how long it was going to take) but it wasn't there. When I went into Time Machine's Preference Pane and ticked the box, the tick appeared for a fraction of a second and disappeared.
After a restart it returned but now I have noticed that none of the Apple Preference Panes which I have tried allow their status to be shown:
Time Machine, Spaces, Displays, Sound, Bluetooth, Airport - not even the Clock!
Has anybody any idea why this might be, please?

It occurred to me that this might be a permissions problem - I had repaired permissions using TechTool Pro a few days ago and that may have caused this - who knows!
Anyway, I'm just re-repairing permissions using Disk Utility. It says 'Estimated Time: 3 hours' which considering previous permissions repair seems a long time - maybe that is an indication of the problem.
I'll post again in 3 hours!

  • Menu bar not working? icons broken/flashing in and out

    Mine isn't working either.
No Volume icon. When I try to turn it on in Sound Prefs, I click the checkbox but it won't check off.
No Clock. When I turn it on in Date & Time Prefs, it doesn't stay checked off, and it also doesn't show up in the menu bar.
    No Airport Status Indicator.
    No Battery Life Indicator.

  • Battery status icon in menu bar not changing

My battery status icon in my menu bar either does not change it's status at all, or takes a long time to change after I plug in, or unplug, my power cord.
I'm not sure what to even try. I've tried removing it from the bar and adding it back with no luck.
This seems to have happened since the latest Software Update for 10.6.5. I have Build 10H574.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Chris

After charging, my indicator stays at 100%. The only way I've found to find out the real status is to put it to sleep, then wake it up again, then stare at it for about 2 or 3 minutes until it refigures the percentage. I got this battery as a Christmas gift and installed it 3 days ago. I calibrated it per instructions. This is very annoying. I can never quite relax because I'm afraid it's about to run down to zero.
I'm on a Macbook Pro pre-2008. My new battery came from the Apple store. It's my 3rd battery on this computer and I've never had this problem before. (I hope you find the answer. I rarely go to the Genius Bar, but I've been there twice this week for other issues--I feel like a knucklehead going back a third time so soon). If I find a solution, I'll try to post it here.

  • White Square in the menu bar (Not a hardware issue)

    Hi there,
I have a Macbook Pro 13" with Retina display (late 2012), and I recently updated Mac OS to Yosemite.
After updating, I have noticed that there is a white square in my menu bar and I do not know how to fix it, I can tell that it isn't a dead pixel as I can zoom into it and it will not remain in the same place, it will zoom in normally as if it is 'stuck' on the screen, I will add some screenshots to explain my issue:
As you can see here, there is a white square in the menu bar near the centre of the screen at the top.
When I zoom in, it moves to suit, and if I place my cursor over the white square, then it disappears as if it is a layer below the cursor, below shows how it doesn't stay in the top of the screen when I zoom in:

Maybe NSPopover (Safari's 'Show downloads' uses one, for example)?
