Clock is always wrong on my Pre

New issue:  For the last few days, I've noticed that my Pre's clock is not operating properly.  I have to toggle AIRPLANE MODE on and off to correct the time but it doesn't last for more than 5 minutes... roughly 1/3 speed.  Do we have a virus or is there an internal battery in this thing that needs replacing?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

do you happen to have windows as well installed in your macbook? This is already an old problem having a dual boot mac with windows. the time and date change when booting to either os and returning to the prior os.
to "solve" this, one must have a direct internet connection and have the settings of your time to automatically adjust its time correspondingly.
If the mentioned situation above is not what you have, then you might have a poor "bios" or pram battery that need to be replaced... as seen on the given website

  • XFCE's Clock shows the wrong time...

XFCE's clock shows the wrong time constantly (it always shows the GMT time), but whenever I run hwclock -r, it tells me the correct time. Can anyone help fix it?

Well, I think I found what was wrong at last. It seems that the timezone wasn't set in the rc.conf, even though the TZ variable was set. I changed it, but will have to restart in a bit to see if it works.

  • Zen micro clock is always wr

The clock on my brother's Zen Micro is always wrong.
I can set it back to the correct time but if I check later it's way off again.

I'm not sure; but then you apparently use .x firmware. The latest ZMME for PlaysForSure/MTP devices (2.x firmware), which I use, is .00.2; it doesn't have one. However, since MTP requires a "secure clock" for use with "to go" subscription services, it's more likely to auto-sync the clock.
^My Zen Micro uses firmware ver. ..
I'm on Win 98 and don't use subscription services.
The Zen's clock seems to be reasonably accurate. I was just wondering where the option for synching clocks to your PC in Zen Micro Media Explorer went.

  • 770 Clock always wrong

I'm on my second 770 due to first one being a non UK model. I seem to be missing something with the Clock....
I have set it correctly, and it shows up in Control Panel right - but on the home page and the RSS reader is shows the time 3 hours out ???
This is same for both units i've had.
Also why on the world map is the time in a foreign country the same as my home time - surely these are supposed to change by the +- GMT times ??
    Any help appreciated.
    Dean.

    Hi Megadodo
I found some information over at http://www.internettablettalk.com - a site which seems dedicated to the 770.
Its a known bug in the April 18th Firmware. There is a hack to fix it - but i think i'll wait for an official fix from Nokia.
Nokia UK support have also informed me that they are escalating my request to their R&D department so will be hoping for a fix really soon !!

  • 720 x 480 DV sequence export aspect ratio always wrong. How come?

Finally finished editing one of the sequences and want to export and test it,
But no matter what settings in QuickTime Conversion (or just QuickTime Movie) parameters I do (e.g., Size), the exported file always seems to be in the wrong aspect ratio.
I need to have the resulting movie burned on DVD for showing.
    Any tips appreciated.
    Sequence settings are 29.97 fps, 720 x 480, DV/DVCPRO NTSC, NTSC CCIR 601, 48 KHz.
    Thanks.

    Hi guys.
OK, I hate to use the words "I assumed" because you know you are going to get into trouble for saying them! But... I guess this is how the newbies like me learn the difference between assumptions about certain theoretical concepts and their real-world exceptions.
"I assumed" that in FCE/FCP that if I set a sequence's settings in the new "multi-format" timeline, that FCE/FCP would keep that sequence throughout the timeline, and automagically conform whatever clip formats that I put into it, into the sequence's formats. And therefore that I no longer need to worry about the original format of the clips, and just focus on using the sequence's settings as the final assembly format.
(Please advise if this assumption is incorrect).
    Thus, my sequence settings above
    29.97 fps, 720 x 480, DV/DVCPRO NTSC, NTSC CCIR 601, 48 KHz
    combine footage from
    1) HDV camcorder imported into iMovie 08 as 960 x 540 (the "lower resolution" option from iMovie '08 import), 16-bit @ 48 KHz (Big Endian), 25 fps
    2) AVI files (DiVX 512 x 384, MP3 at 44.1 KHz, 23.98 fps)
The AVI DiVX footage is actually television program recorded content. The HDV footage (converted to 960 x 540 resolution by iMovie) is what I shot myself.
What I am doing is trying to cut in my HDV footage (home video) into the TV show's content to create a humorous entertaining video to show family and friends.
So after editing this thing for the past week, I am now ready to test on the target devices (iPod, DVD).
The edited cut plays fine in FCE's preview.
However, on export, the original TV show's content is in the wrong aspect ratio. That is, it is a bit wider, pulled out horizontally. Not significantly wider (e.g., not like 4:3 pulled to 16:9) but just not in the proper aspect ratio. I can't really tell if the superimposed HDV (that is, 960 x 540, not actually 1080i) footage is pulled out too (most of that is shrunk down or otherwise distorted, in the final assembly).
I have spent two days now exporting to many different formats, etc. but none of them seem to work. I just don't understand why. I would have thought that "forcing" the pixel dimensions using QuickTime Conversion's "Size" option would brute-force ensure the resulting video has the exact required dimensions and thus aspect ratio, but it does not seem to be my result.
    Help much appreciated!
    Thanks.

  • Clock icon always displays 10:15:00

    Hi,
It's more a comment than a question but the icon for the calendar always displays the correct date, the icon for messages displays the number of new messages. So why is it that the icon for the clock doesn't display the correct time ? I suppose updating the icon every second would be too much but it should be possible to do that every minute ?

The same reason the Weather app displays Sun and 73 degrees. Updating the information all that time would affect battery life, so Apple's decision was to leave it. The calendar app only has to update once every 24 hours, and the small icon for Messages and Mail only occurs when you receive something.

  • My password is always wrong!

    Hello!
I'm having some problems when I change my alternate email to primary email. By clicking on save, it prompts me to enter the password, but it always says it's wrong. My Skype account was created when I linked my Microsoft account to it. I can sign in to Skype using my Microsoft credentials, but I can't change my primary email. I've changed my primary alias in my Microsoft account yesterday (hotmail.com to outlook.com), I just want to do the same with Skype. I've registered here just to ask this. Oh! And another question: Can I link my Facebook account to Skype, even if I have already linked my Microsoft account to it? Could anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

  • Clock is Always off

I just got my touch yesterday, and i love everything except, i can't get the clock to sync correctly, ie. its always one hour fast. Yes, the time on my computer is correct. So what could be causing this?

Make sure tyou region setting is correct. On your iPod touch, goto:
Settings > General > International > Region Format > Your Country.
    Close/Re-open iTunes
    Then Re-Sync
    Hope this helps

  • I couldn't save to an external HD because the clock was set wrong. Why?????

    Here's a strange situation.
I wanted to copy files from an eMac (running 10.5.8) to an external drive (WD Elements 2TB). It's a hard drive I normally use on my other computer (iMac), including for Time Machine, with no problems. When I connected the drive to the eMac and tried copying a file to it, it told me there was no space. In fact it told me that the total space on the drive was zero. I did some checking (hooking it back up to the iMac, running Disk Utility) and everything was fine, with 1.5 TB available.
I then noticed that the clock on the eMac said it was the year 1970. I switched off "set Time Automatically" (I wasn't connected to the internet) and set the time manually. Then suddenly the space on the external drive showed up correctly, and everything was fine again.
Any ideas why having the wrong time on the computer would keep a external drive from showing the correct amount of space???

Appears that the eMac's battery is going south. That causes all kinds of issues. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3005 and http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2295 should have what you need.

  • IPod clock has gone wrong

    Here it goes,
I restarted my iPod, and now, when I go into "Clock" ( under Extras ),the time is all wrong ( for instance, if it's 1:28 AM on the iPod, it's actually 6:28 PM on my Mac's clock ). How do I correct this?

A quick way (though this is just a short term fix) to get the meters to sync up is to reset the iPod by pressing the menu and center buttons together for a few seconds. The longer term fix is to follow fullcream's suggestion; letting the iPod battery completely die every couple of months helps recalibrate the battery meters.
I have noticed that the problem of non-matching meters has gotten worse with the latest firmware (1.1.1).

  • Clock is always showing while charging my Lumia 10...

The clock screen is a nice feature when I take the phone out of my pocket and the time shows without me needing to press any thing. But I would like the clock to go away after a while when its charging, just as it does when its on battery. It is annoying that it lights up my bedroom, and I would prefer not to turn the screen down as this could scratch the screen over time.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Settings > glance > Always on while charging "OFF"
This does require the Nokia Black Firmware update and the latest Glance settings app found HERE
Click on the blue Star Icon below if my advice has helped you or press the 'Accept As Solution' link if I solved your problem..

  • My system time is always wrong, until I open date and time

    Hello,
I have my system set to auto-update time.
However every time I boot up, the time is wrong, until I go into date and time.
For instance, right now, my system time says's it it 10:40 AM. It is currently 5:40 PM PST (had to look at my phone to know)
Please help me fix this ASAP!
    Nick

    Hey Nick
If you have a desktop, there is a battery inside that keeps tabs on the time when it is powered down, or unplugged. If you have a laptop, that's the job of the battery that supplies your laptop when it's running.
if you have a desktop, most likely the battery is dead. This is a user replaceable part, so unplug it, look around inside for something that looks like a battery(like a AAA one, but not exactly), pull it out, and find a replacement.
If you have a laptop as I do, and your battery won't hold a charge very long, as mine won't, then every time I turn it on, I have to go into Date & Time and tell it to update.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, BDAqua!
I've always thought that "Verify Disk Permissions" was a peculiar feature to offer - why would one want to know about a permissions problem and not also want to fix it?
Maybe it's just for artistic symmetry with the Verify Disk/Repair Disk options on the right of that DU screen!
