Clock not working (portege m400)

clock not working
was working last week.
wife was using machine.  Battery came unlocked and fell out.
I put it back in, computer starts OK, but now the RTC clock is not working, during idle/shutdown time
If I shut it down at 2:00 pm 8/13/2011, and I just restarted it at 7:10 pm 8/14/2011, the BIOS values still state 2:00 pm 8/13/2011.
I have entered the corect time,a nd then the clock starts to work during a windows session (but even that seems intermittent in function, will test some more), but upon shutdown, then restart,the time at restart is the same time as it was at shutdown
ANY utilities that anyone is aware of, to test the clock itself, or could this be the RTC battery (it got fried??)
any help appreciated.
in the interim, I have set up a batch file that starts with task manager, every 5 minutes, to resync the clock through the internet

The RTC battery connection is loose. Pull it out, bend the tab to make it more secure and reisert te battery.

    I have been unable to find a way to get the Alarm clock function to work on my nano.
    When setting to "beep" it should use the internal speaker on the nano, but it is not doing so (even with clicker sound turned on or through headphones or both).
    Time is set correctly, turned on, etc. but no alarm.
    Anybody else encountered this problem?

    I bought my 4gb black nano online, will I have a problem exchanging it instore here in LA? I want to exchange it, I'm very unhappy with the alarms not working. Even the guy at the genius bar couldn't get them to work.

    Hey, upgraded to mountain lion and now my clock wont sync to current time.  I have checked timezone and tried to reset, all I get is the pinwheel when I hover the mouse over it.  I have restarted several times.  Appreciate any insight.  Worked fine before the upgrade

    Open Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) and then run Repair Disk Permissions, to be safe run RDP at least 2x. If that does not work you can try some basic resets such as a iMac SMC and PRAM reset and also restarting in Safe Mode which will clear some caches. It's possible a cache is corrupt.

  • Lumia 920 alarm clock not working properly

    The alarm clock on my Lumia 920 does not work properly. It randomly fails to sound the alarm. When the alarm should sound it just disables itself without making any indication that something has happened. Usually this happens when re-enabling existing alarms. This week I tested to always create a new alarm and it has already failed multiple times. Rebooting the phone seems to solve the problem temporarily but it always comes back.
    I have not hard reseted my phone as I was hoping that the Amber update would contain a fix, but unfortunately the problem still exists with the update installed . I don't turn my phone off for the night and the problem is not with the volume being muted etc.
    I bought my phone in December 2012 from the operator TeliaSonera (Finland).
    This bug is really annoying as I have to carry a secondary device just for the alarm.

    Ive found this problem with the 920/925 myself i usually stick it in flight mode at night now and leave it upside down so as to get full effect from the speaker,on the 925 that is.
    I Hard reset it and its been fine since.

    The clock icon that you see that is stuck on 10:15 - is the clock app. Tap on that icon to launch the clock app.

    Since I installed the maemo update, my alarm clock is not working anymore... well, it's working, but it doesn't make any sound. I tried to change almost all possible settings concerning sounds on the phone, but it still doesn't make any sound...

    I also overslept because of this STUPID thing lol.. spent an hour on the phone to Vodaphone who was useless as a donkey and also into every phone shop in the whole of Brighton! No-one knew how to fix it...
    I just found how though... Although the update was done, there's another Maemo5 update which needs updating also...
    Go onto APP MANAGER, Go to UPDATES
    And update the MAEMO update on there 
    It'll do the update and will restart your phone, when its all back and powered up hopefully it should work again!!!
    Hope people will read this! It's simple but easy to miss.. Cheers guys and gals

  • Clock not working on new

    Anyone else having this problem? Now and again when I turn it on it will have changed to a random time. The battery has always had at least half a charge remaining so can only put it down to a fault with the zen itself.
    Not a huge problem but why provide a clock if it doesn't even work?

    Actually my clock is working on the new Zen. Make sure that the unit is charged or else if it goes flat, the clock would stop functioning.
    Do you have the latest firmware on the unit ?

  • Alarm clock not working in iOS 7 with multiple alarms set.

    I usually have two alarms set on my phone, both using the stock clock app.  One about an hour before I need to get up (so I can turn the heater on and crawl back under the covers), the other for the time I am supposed to get up.  The second alarm works just fine, but the fist one has not gone off for several days.  They are not recurring alarms because I need to change the time each day due to my work schedule.
    The phone is *usually* in a speaker dock which is plugged into the wall, and works just fine for the purpose of playing my second alarm or any of my music.  When not in the dock, it is still plugged in to the charger but uses the built in speakers.
    Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know of a possible fix?

    iOS Version:  7.0.2 (will be updating to 7.0.3 when I return home from business on Nov. 1st)

  • Nokia Lumia 720 Alarm clock not working

    My alarm clock is set and activated but it does not go off in the morning. On all my previose Nokia phones this has never been a problem. i turn my pnone off at night.
    My previouse Nokia phone was the E7, a great phone. On the keypad you had the option to go up, down left or right to correct any mistakes written etc, on the Lumia720 this feature is absent.
    I can not get the email to leave a copy of my mail on the server once retrieved on the phone, POP mail. i need to be able to retrive this on my PC at a later stage, not a problem on the E7.
    last but an issue, i can not send a MMS out or an attachment even though i have a 3G signal, if I leave mobile data on then the phone connects to all sort of stuff and runs up the usage, not an issue with the E7

    Ok so I will get over the alarm clock issue by carrying a second phone which I normally do as I travel foreign a lot and get a local sim card for the country travelling in. I have been in the habit of turning my phones off at night except when abroad where my home phone is on in case of an emergency at home, I do not appreciate being disturber after work hours by clients. The battery life is a lot longer when the phone is switched off at night even if the phone is in a sleep mode.
    I gather I will just have to come to grips with the lack of being able to place the curser wherever I wanted but the feature on a keyboard is good and will be missed.
    Now for the issue of my mail being removed from my server when accessing it with my phone, there does not seem to be a feature when setting up a POP3 email account, where you can retrieve Headers only or Msgs and attachments. I need my mail to go to my office PC besides being able read them when on the move. On the older version in the Sync content section when setting up a new account you had the choice.
    The mail issue is a problem though.
    They should be built to survive a 3M drop.

  • Samsung Juke Alarm Clock Not Working

    I love my Samsung Juke and really do not want to replace it, but now my alarm clock is failing on me. I set it to go off two days ago. It never went off, yet the alarm was still set to "on". I even left the alarm on until today to see if it ever would. Nope. I also set two other alarms at different times. Same problem. My phone seemed to have this same issue around the new year of 2011 as well but a quick restart fixed it. It didn't work this time. Is there something I can do or am I doomed to use an actual alarm clock that wakes me up in a terrible mood?

    Hi there taintedlove908! Regarding the alarm function on your Samsung Juke... When the time arrives for the alarm to alert you, does the device simply remain dormant and quiet or does it light up silently?   • Imac G3 clock not working - and some other questions

    This iMac is starting to act slow, especially browsing with FireFox. Also, the clock will not hold its time. Won't browse at all with IE or Safari. Well, Safari will sorta work - but for some reason automatically downloads FAD messages on desktop.
    Does this computer just need a new battery for the clock? Also, will that battery also improve the general sluggishness?
    What battery does it need and how can I replace it?
    Also, regarding browsing - there are less and less browsers that work with this computer. I'd like to upgrade (currently using 10.2.8) but not sure if it can handle an upgrade. Will it actually start handling even slower because an upgraded OS is wearing it down? Any suggestions? More computer info listed below:
    Proc. 500 MHZ PowerPC Gc
    iMac version 22.14
    Mem 348 MB
    OS Version 10.2.8

    You can run the top command in the terminal to get an idea about system and memory usage.
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    type
    top -u
    then press enter and you will some memory stats. The display is hard to digest, but if you watch for awhile (days) you will get some hints.
    Look for this line. The number in yours will be different.
    PhysMem: 58.8M wired, 101M active, 271M inactive, 431M used, 336M free
    so
    wired + active + inactive = used
    used + free = installed memory (768 off by a meg )
    336M free means total unused memory. I have lots of free memory.
    The next line
    VM: 4.22G + 118M 22499(0) pageins, 0(0) pageouts
    VM is virtual memory.
    You notice I have 0(0) pageouts which says that I am not using my harddrive for extra memory space. 0 is the total (0) is this time period
    Hence, I would not benefit from more memory.
    You could post your number here for comments.
    Mac OS 10.2 doesn't do the best job of cleaning up after itself. Perhaps a little housekeeping would help.

    Perhaps you should try running the periodic jobs. These jobs are run daily weekly monthly to do general system maintenance. These jobs will clean up the logs.
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
    Note: Enter your logon password. You need to be logoned on with an administrator id.
    Maybe you should try one of these general clean up programs. You might backup your system before pounding too hard. I'd repair permissions as suggested earlier.
