Clock sync with apple time server
Hi everyone!
I am experiencing some oddities with the clock sync with apple time server
if I set the clock to a given hour and then set it to GMT hour with the European time server, the clock does not automatically adjust to the proper time! why is that? when does the clock sync to the time server? can I modify this time adjustment?
thanks in advance for the support!
Do you have the correct zone set in the "Time Zone" tab of "Date & Time" system preference? All the time servers use UTC (GMT), so will give the same time.

Cisco SPA525g2 Date and time Not Synced with the PBX server
Hello,
We have a couple of SPA525g2 phone connected and registered to our PBX server. We were able to configure 3 extensions on different lines of the phone. However, at times we were encountering issues with the other lines configured on the phone. There are times wherein 1 extension configured on the phone is having one way audio issue, but the other extensions configured on the same phone is working fine. and we have to reboot/reset the phone several times for all the extesions configured on the phone to work.
Also, whenever we reset the phone, the date and time will be way way behind the current date and time, eventhough we have already set the correct date and time before we reset the phone.
How can we resolve the one way audio issue on 1 or 2 extensions of the phone, while the other extensions configured to it is working fine?
How can we make the phone sync the date and time with the PBx server?
Any input and help regarding this issue is greatly appreciated...
Btw, date and time issue not sync with the PBX server is just happening on SPA525g2, we have other phones like SPA303, SPA504, and SPA232D/SPA302D. All other phones' date and time is in sync with the server even though we reset them except SPA525g2.

Problems with iTunes syncing with Apple TV 1st gen
all of a sudden today I am having problems with itunes 10.6.1 syncing with apple TV gen 1. Everything was fine when I upgraded itunes and iphoto 11.
Today the apple TV shows up in devices but when I try to sunc it manually (it won't start autmatically even though it is supposed to,
I get a message
If you try to sync content your Apple TV (1st generation), this alert appears in iTunes: "The Apple TV '(Your Apple TV's name)' is not responding. Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689."
My firewall is turned off. I operate Lion on my laptop
Please help. seems like I had this issue before but do not remember what caused this and how it was resolvedI have a similar problem. ATV1 (3.0.2), itunes 10, connected via wireless time machine (hardwired to router) + airport express wireless extender. ATV showing in itunes menu. All TV shows, movies, music etc showing on ATV (not sync'd) EXCEPT 4 episodes of one TV show that was purchased as a series on iTunes (not on the ATV).
I have also had the firewall error - intermittently.
Have rebooted iMac. Have factory reset ATV and re-set up. Tried just sync'ing the 4 episodes I want to watch. No luck. Tried marking episodes as watched. No luck. rebooted everything. Twice.
ATV1 accesses all other info on iTunes (music, movies etc).
Infuriating.
Any ideas?

I have bought a WD My Book World Edition to use for back-up of my iMac, but when I try and log onto the drive with Apple time Machine (back-up software) or connect in any other way I get the message 'There was a problem connecting to the server "MybookWorld.local" The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem'
It is a brand new iMac and running Lion OSX
Any ideas on how to solve would be gratefully received?Followed the directions on this page and it worked!
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1102423
Part One - Turn on SSH (in the admin panel)
[1] Go to to http://mybookworld.local
[2] login: username will be admin, password will be whatever you have setup. If you can't remember it should be in your Mac OS X keychain (Utilities > Keychain Access, search for "mybookworld"). If you have not changed if from the default the password will be admin as well.
[3] Switch to advanced mode.
[4] From the System tab, pick Advanced.
[5] Enable SSH Access, and click submit.
[6] Click on the network tab and then the LAN button
[7] Make a note of the IP address
Small, maybe obvious, but nevertheless important point: For the install to work, your NAS needs to be connected to a router with internet access.
Part Two - Install netatalk2.2
[8] Open Terminal.app (Utilities > Terminal)
[9] Enter the following command (substitute in 127.0.0.1 for the actual IP address you noted down in step 7), then hit return:
Code:
ssh [email protected]
[10] When prompted, enter the ssh password (will be welc0me).
[11] You are now going to download the installer. Enter the following command, then hit return:
Code:
wget http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/local--files/netatalk2-2-on-whitelight/install_netatalk.sh -O install_netatalk.sh
[12] Once completed, you will need to run the installer. Type:
Code:
sh install_netatalk.sh
[13] You will be asked a number of question during install, answer yes to all. When asked about the "DHX2 login process", I opted to install the modified version, so I can confirm it works.
[14] Once the box has restarted, you should be able to connect to your afp shares and continue to use Time Machine. -

Apple Time Server is wrong on my Macbook Pro
Hi,
For a while now I've recognised that my timestamps on various applications are appearing wrong. For example: My Twitter feed says tweets were from 5 Hours ago when they may have only been from 10 minutes.
I checked my settings and in Time & Date, I had it set to custom. The custom time was correct, and so was the date, however the time stamps were still wrong.
I then proceeded to check the box that says "Set Date and Time automatically" -> I then chose Apple Europe and it states that the time is 23:14, when infact it is actually 04:14 therefore being 5 hours different, relating to the timestamp problem I'm receiving.
Therefore from this evidence I'm assuming that there is something wrong with the time server on my macbook.
TL:DR - My macbook pro time server is 5 hours slow and is making applications give an incorrect time stamp.
I'm on a macbook Pro from 2011 roughly. I did also have a short circuit problem months ago that may have been the cause, I seem to remember that roughly being the time that the timestamps started appearing wrong!
Any help would be really appreciated!
thanksCheck your Time Zone setting in the Date & Time preference pane. Also be aware that if you have the "Set time zone automatically using current location" enabled, then using a VPN with an endpoint in another country could cause this problem.
Also be aware that if you have any type of firewall in place on your network then the NTP protocol may be blocked. In this case your only solution is to set the date, time, and timezone manually. -
Wrt320n with Apple Time Capsule in Wireless sharing mode
Hi!
I try to connect my LinkSys wrt320n with Apple Time Capsule with mode "sahring existing wireless network" and so Time capsule doesn't work. It gets IP, but writes "isn't internet connection, WiFi network don't find" and also in the admipage of my wrt320 I can't see Time Capsule as client.
Is it possible to make this mode with these two?
Thanks for your advice and solutions.AlexFedy wrote:
I want to use TC as wireless station to share my wrt320n signal and also as backup. But, the first needs doesn't work properly
For setting up the Time Capsule to work as a wireless station, the WAN port should be connected to a modem. In your case, the WAN port should be connected to the to the ethernet port of the router since the modem is already connected to the Linksys. By the way, you don't need to setup a wireless station anymore since you already have a router, unless it serves as another purpose. In addition to that, if you want to setup the TC to do backup then you cannot use it as a wireless station anymore. It can only serve one purpose at a time, depending on the type of settings being set. -
Computer that was originally synced with Apple TV has crashed
the computer that was originally synced with apple tv has crashed, but the photos and music that was loaded, i don't want to lose them. Is there a way to recover it to my other computer or its just stuck on apple tv until deleted.
In itunes also my apple tv only shows wo tabs, Summary and photos, what happen to the rest of the tabs ?There is no option of getting content off the AppleTV, it is not a back up storage device. Sorry.
Since you did not make backups, only real option is to void your warranty and open the ATV, remove drive, connect to computer, copy off.
As for only two tabs, it is because you have setup your new computer (drive) as a steaming computer not a computer to sync with. If you change to make it a syncing computer (like you use to have) the ATV will erase all content right then as you can only sync with ONE computer and it is looking for your old one. -
Apple Time Server displaying wrong time
So I have the option 'Date and Time' I have the 'Set Date and Time Automatically' checked and the apple time server selected. I also have the correct time zone selected. However, the time that is displayed is one day and five hours ahead of the actual time. I know I can manually set the time, but the time stamps on my emails don't change when I do that. So I'd appreciate it if there was a way for me to use the automatic time setting, but have it display the correct time.

There are three apple timeservers. Try changing to a different one and then back to the correct one. -
When opening iTunes it automatically syncs with Apple TV. This has worked without a hitch for the last two years. I upgraded to Lion 10.7.3 last week and also to iTunes 10.6. Now when I open iTunes and a sync starts iTunes shuts down. If I can catch it and stop the sync before 2 or 3 seconds iTunes remains open and functional. Any ideads?
10.6 syncs fine with all my Apple TV 1's, it's therefore something specific to your set up and not something you should report via feedback. You might want to try re-pairing the Apple TV with iTunes.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can sync it back afterwards, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted. -
Can iDS sync with another IDAP server database?
if i use iDS 5.1 to be a backup server and sync with another LDAP server (Master). The iDS can suppport?
or need another tools to connect those servers?
my master server is using:
Fujitsu InfoDirectory Ver.1.0.9
thanks
epeehi Kesa_Kara
you're correct.
I would do the migration in two steps:
- migrate the collection from domain1 to domain2 on a dedicated TFS server with no other collections and no users added to TFS.
- after verifying the correctness of the migration, detach the TFS collection from this dedicated TFS server, backup and restore the collection database to final SQL Server and than attach the collection on the final TFS server

How many computers can sync with Apple TV at the same time?
I'm thinking of buying one of these things for my parents as a last-minute Christmas gift. They both have their own iMac, with their own choice of music/movies/photos/etc. If I get them this device and set it up in their living room, could they stream content from both computers to this?
Eric wrote:
When you say "online" you mean bonjour, right?
So all I'd have to do for set up, is turn on the "share library" in their iTunes? Alright, sounds easy enough.
No, AppleTV's are set up in a specific manner.
You can sync with 1 iTunes library, and stream from several.
Synced material is seen under My Music, My Movies categories of the respective media types (Music/Movies/TV Shows/Podcasts), and if iTunes is running any compatible material that hasn't synced (copied to AppleTV in order to play if computer is off) can be streamed as needed.
Streaming libraries that don't sync are selected under a My Shared Music/Movies etc category, and stream as needed, but only one is selected at a time.
To set up a library to sync/stream, AppleTV announces itself across the network to itunes, and a 5 digit code appears on the connected TV which is then entered in iTunes on the machine which is being added to 'computers'. Quite simple really.
