Clock won't sync

I don't know why but my Windows 7 has been unable to sync its clock for quite awhile now.  It will correctly sync when I go in and ask it to sync with the servers.  However it won't do this on it's own.  Even when I check automatically sync.
Moreover when i start windows the time is usually off even after I have synced during the last boot.

Hi,
Any messages prompted? Check the event viewer for more related information. Does this issue only occur with this specific computer? Regarding to the server, did you mean a Internet time server like time.windows.com or a server setup by yourself (company)
in a domain?
Make sure the Windows Time Service is running.
Or you can re-register Time service by the following commands
net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time
If you're part of a domain, see this link

  • OpenNTPD won't sync my system clock

When I run "ntpd -sd", I get:
    ntp engine ready
reply from 81.216.247.88: offset -14.287156 delay 0.050191, next query 5s
reply from 81.216.247.88: offset -14.286023 delay 0.055526, next query 7s
reply from 130.236.254.102: offset -14.284002 delay 0.060283, next query 9s
and so on for a few lines. So, my clock is off by ~14 seconds. After a while i get:
reply from 81.216.247.88: offset -14.244747 delay 0.047024, next query 31s
    adjusting local clock by -14.272483s
reply from 130.236.254.102: offset -14.238398 delay 0.048141, next query 30s
Note how OpenNTPD claims to adjust the clock, but afterwards my clock is still off by ~14 seconds. OpenNTPD clearly isn't adjusting the clock.
Any idea as to why I have this problem? This must have happened quite recently (as in the last two-three weeks or so), because OpenNTPD used to work perfectly fine.

shagrat wrote:ntpd adjusts the clock in very small increments/decrements so that your system should not experience errors (files which have timestamps from the future for instance). Use "ntpd -q" to adjust the clock if its offset is large.
Yes, it seems you are correct. I let it run for a while and my clock seemed to be synced.
The -q flag doesn't seem to exist in the OpenNTPD version. Though I believe that's what the -s flag is for, but after reading the manpages a bit it seems that it only works if the offset is larger than 180 seconds.
Now, what's weird is that once again my system clock is unsynced, after just a bit more than a day. It seems that my real problem is that the daemon won't sync my clock.

  • Podcasts won't sync - error "no longer exist"

i connected my ipod to sync to itunes. for some unknown reason, itunes was blanked out and when it synced, it wiped everything off my ipod. i reuploaded everything from my hard drive and subscribed to/downloaded podcasts. however, now when itunes syncs with my ipod, i get a message that the podcasts no longer exist so it won't sync. help! i miss my podcasts!!!

It has nothing to do with being authorised, that doesn't affect Podcasts. Plus, you already have them on your computer.
Did you have to change the settings for the Sync Podcasts? If you did, then you may need to perform another Sync to make sure the "change" has been implemented.
    If not, then:
Have you previously managed to Sync Podcasts with this iPod?
Are they Podcasts, downloaded as Podcasts through iTunes?
    Are they iTunes U programmes?
    Are they video Podcasts?
Do you see any error messages when you Sync the iPod with iTunes?
Where, on your iPod, are you looking for the Podcasts?

  • I have moved my music to my new mac air but now it won't sync with my ipod or my iphone 4s

I have transferred mymusic to my new mac air from an acer laptop via an external hard drive and it's all there on the mac but now itunes won't sync with my ipod touch or my iphone 4s.
With the ipod it says 'iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. Could not connect to the device " It also doesn't show up at all in the devices section.
With the iphone it says there isn't enough space to sync even though I have experimented and unticked various things including photos which takes up a lot of space. It seems like it wants to sync with the empty space on the iphone (very small!) and not with the whole thing. I have tried various things suggested on this forum but have had no luck.

  • Voice Memos won't sync to iTunes anymore

So for some reason when I sync my iPhone 3G, the voice memos won't sync to my iTunes library.
The "Sync voice memos" box is checked and older voice memos from April and before synced in the past.
Now there's just a Voice Memos folder under my iPhone Tab and the new voice memos won't appear in my iTunes Library at all.
I want to convert them to Mp3 but that option is grayed out under the iPhone Voice Memos folder.
Is this just a bug? I recently bought a new computer running Windows 7, so I'm wondering if this is a common issue with iTunes?
    Any suggestions?

Even though this topic is considered answered, my Voice Memos weren't syncing and the software update didn't fix it. So, I did this:
    1) I backed up and synced my ipod
    2) deleted the voice memos playlist in iTunes (my playlist was empty already)
    3) deselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    4) clicked "Apply"
    5) when sync was done, shut down iTunes
    6) disconnected and reconnected iPhone and restarted iTunes
    7) reselected "include voice memos" under the Music tab
    8) clicked "Apply"
A new Voice Memo playlist was created with my voice memos in iTunes.
It's possible you can skip the step of deleting the playlist. I was just trying everything I could think of to get it going again. Maybe you can skip the whole first half and just shut down iTunes and reconnect device and sync again! So try and let us all know.
I think what was happening - and why it will work for some to upgrade their software - was because I had an iPod Touch with 3.1 syncing memos to iTunes before. Maybe the iPhone with ios 4 couldn't sync to the folder already created?

  • IOS4 large Voice Memos won't sync

    Hi,
I just upgraded my iPhone 3G(s) to iOS 4 yesterday and today I'm having problems with large Voice Memos. I use this heavily in my work with memos over 1 hour in length and never had a problem with syncing with my iTunes 9.2 (61) on my iMac/10.6.4.
Using iOS4 for the first time today I made 2 long recordings. One appears to have been corrupted on the iPhone (never happened before) and the other won't sync. I was able to pull both off using iPhone Explorer and the second can be added manually to iTunes and it plays fine.
Is there a bug in iOS4 Voice Memos for 3G(s) in this regard? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Bob

I have this problem as well on a iPhone 3GS with OS4. Seems that OS4 broke some things. I had a 2 hour recording that wouldn't play on the iPhone. iTunes would sync the recording, but when I tried to play it on the PC, the PC kept saying it was not a recognized format. Short recordings worked just fine, just not long ones. Even ones that were just 15 minutes wouldn't work.
Try this program for either the MAC or Windows. It works great. Iphone Explorer

(taken from a previous post on similiar subject)
Downloaded and installed iPhone Explorer. Looked in the recording directory on the iPhone and sure enough, there was a MOV version of the recording still on my iPhone that was 2 weeks old. Copied it to my desktop and it plays just fine. Thanks guys for pointing out iPhone Explorer. Also found other MOV versions of recordings in that directory that I thought were gone because they were lengthly recordings. Your right, APPLE needs to fix this issue. At some point, all of the left over MOV versions of the recordings will eventually fill up the data space on the iPhone.

  • Voice Memos won't sync

I have two newly recorded voice memos that won't sync to iTunes. I have no issues syncing other voice memos, it is just with these two specific files. Is there a way to "force" iTunes to sync these files? Alternatively, is there another way to get these files onto my PC (they are apparenly too big to email or message directly from the Voice Memos app).

  • Voice memo won't sync with iTunes

Help! I have a 25 minute recording which won't play on my iphone and won't sync and download onto my iTunes! What do I do?

If it won't play on your phone, & itunes won't download it, it may be corrupted. Try & see if phoneview can extract it from your phone:

  • Voice memo won't sync!! and won't let me email either!

believe me, i've got all settings correct.
I've been using voice memo for a long time and now for the first time it just won't sync at all
i've noticed lately that sometimes the voice memo doesn't sync,
I thought I operated wrongly, synced the iphone again, and was able to get the memos out.
    BUT NOT THIS TIME
    it's like permanently stopped working
I've got an important lecture in there and have to get it out asap
why doesn't apple even allow users to email large memos over wifi at least!??
this is really upsetting and disappointing
I seriously don't understand apple's logic on this

thanks, I just used iExplorer to get it out too
apple seriously has to listen to its customers
such huge amount of users have been complaining about this tiny yet important issue
they just don't give a dang
won't even allow users to have an alternative way of retrieving their files, and we have to use a 3rd party app to do their job??
    this is such a joke
it's even on the official website, like thousands of people have complained about the same problem for YEARS, numerous updates never fixed any bit of this
    what's your excuse, apple?
