Clocking MSI Ti4800SE-TD8X(MS-8900)

Hi everyone! My question is: Can I clock my card to 300/650 without any extra cooling?? I have heard this somewhere that with the big fan on my VGA-card I can easily do so, but I thought maybe I should get some expert help before doing so if possible! So everyone who knows wheter it is possible to clock my MSI Ti4800SE-TD8X(MS-8900) (currenlty @ 275/554) to 300/650 please post a reply, bye!  :D

ApA,
When you get to those speeds it will be hit or miss. One board might, while an identical will not. It is all the luck of the draw with the RAM.

  • K7N2G + MSI Ti4800SE = no 8x AGP???

    Hi all
I just bought a new MSI K7NG2 mobo and an MSI Ti4800SE-VTD8X (MS-8900) and can't get them to work in 8x AGP.
I have enabled 8x support in the bios (ver 2.1) but 3DMark2001SE still reports it running 4x, though it identifies support for 8x
In it's current state the graphics card is running a lot slower than it did in my K7N420Pro mobo. (a 3dmark score of 7000 compared to 10000 before)
    I'm using an AthlonXP2400+ 266FSB and 512MB of PC2100 (266Mhz) 2 sticks in DDR slots 2 and 3
Does anyoone know how to make them run in 8x mode?
    Thanks in advance

I've tried downloading the 2.03 version fron nVidia and it wont load.
It unpacks all the files then just quits as soon as it starts loading the intall wizard (all it does is show the nVidia logo and then close)
I unloaded the drivers which came with the CD  I had on and tried again and now can't load them either, so not sure which version they were

  • MSI Ti4800SE and MSI KT4V motherboard incompatible?

Yesterday I bought an MSI Ti4800SE to replace a GeForce2. It booted up fine and Windows detected it and installed the drivers. However, on rebooting, the monitor went blank and there was a series of beeps.
The computer would not start. I tried taking out all the other cards and tried the video card in 2 other computers but all I got was the beeps. I took the card back and got a refund as they had no more in stock.
Is the video card incompatible with the motherboard for some reason? Did I somehow cause the card to die? Should I buy another or will the same thing happen again?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    My system is
    MSI KT4V motherboard
    Athlon 2500
    512Mb Kingston RAM
    SB Live
    Network card
    56k Modem
    2 hard drives
    DVD ROM
    Mitsumi CD writer
    350W PSU
    Windows 98SE
    Thanks in advance

Thanks very much for your advice - looks like I need to spend yet more money then!
But do you think I damaged the card by not supplying enough current, bearing in mind that it booted OK the first time? Or was it not damaged at all?

  • MSI TI4800SE supported resolutions.

I have a MSI TI4800SE and my old monitor died recently, and I have been thinking about getting a widescreen monitor to replace the old one. All the ones I have seen have a warning stating to make sure your card can support the resolution(1440x900 or 1680x1050). I do not see either of those resolutions in the manual, but it does say the actual settings may be different because of different monitors. So you can see why I am a bit confused.  So if I do decide to get a widescreen monitor am I going to also have to get a new graphics card to fully utilize the monitor?

  • Msi Ti4800SE VTD8X problem???

    Hi
I've just got myself a Msi Ti4800SE VTD8X, and i checked for the total video memory using 3DMark2001, 3Dmark2003 and sisoft sandra2003.  They all show the same information, which are 64M, sometimes 32M., somtimes 0M, and sometimes 128M (though not too often at 128M). The information differs each time after rebooting the system.
However, when i play games it seems fine.
Please tell me if it could have been a problem with the video memory, or the software that i've used.
    and what should i do?
oh...I'm using windowsXP pro (service pack 1).
the power supply is Antec 550W TrueControl.
    thanks

    Hola Exequiel,
One thing I forgot, you Desktop. There is no reason to run your desktop at 32bit color, set it to 16 bit.  Running your desktop at 32bit color means any games will have to render your desktop in the background in 32bit color even though you cannot see it.
As for overclocking, if your 2200+ is the old Tbred A, it is a very poor overclocker, if it is the Tbred B, then you can really overclock it. (There are manual settings on your motherboard, but if you do not have really good cooling I would not do it.)
As for your Vid Card, you get a great boost in performance by overclocking the RAM than the Core. Before you start, you must be happy with the fact you could destroy the card and end uo with an expensive new key chain. 8o I use 3DMark2001SE to test my overclock. If I were to overclock your card, I would bump the core and RAM 15Mhz the first time. Then from there only bump the RAM a couple of Mhz at a time and run the Benchmark. If it locks the computer up, turn the computer off and lower your settings. If you see garbage on the screen hit the esc key, lower your overclock and test again till you know it is stable.
But remember this can destroy your card and you will be without a video card and need to buy a new one.

  • My God, I got a FAKE MSI TI4800SE VTD!

Hey guys, I'm in trouble here.
I found out that my Ti4800SE VTD is a fake. In fact is a MSI Ti4200 8X VTD with its BIOS hacked so the PC recognized as a 4800SE but, is not...
The board looks is exactly like the MSI Ti4200 8X VTD and, because it is in fact a 4200 running at 4800SE speed (i.e. Ti4400 8X), it runs really hot!
I spoke with the store here, where I bought it, and they don't have this model anymore (I'm in Rio de Janeiro) so They're now offering a even trade for a MSI FX5600 (not ultra) VTD.
However, I know for a fact that this board, the FX5600, is not as fast for today's games nor fast enough for tomorrow DX9 games.
Also they refuse to return the money.
BTW, I bought it boxed with all accessories.
What should I do? Is MSI aware of that?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help and, be careful in the future!

First of all, thanks for the quick reply... You guys are the best!
    Now for the questions:
    >>> What gives you the Idea that it is fake? How can you prove that?
    Many things, for instance:
Its look: It looks exactly, I'm mean really exactly like the MSI Ti4200 8X VTD. There many differences between the two for example: components position including fan connector, size of the blue VGA adapter and etc.
Its performance: Behaves like a Ti4200 on the tests in all respects. Also 3DMark2003 classifies its GPU as a Ti4200 (shouldn't be Ti4400?)
Gets hotter than it should be. I guess that might be because it's a 4200 running @ 4400 clocks.
    >>> If the store sold you the card and it is indeed fake, the store is liable for fraud and your issue is with them, if you can prove it.
People at the store claims that if it is in fact a fake, they too were fooled by their importer. Also, as I said before, They wouldn't mind exchange this card for the FX5600 but, I'm kind uncertain if this would satisfy me. They're refusing to give a refund.
    >>> Tell you what, give me the number off of the BIOS sticker, should be something like : NxxxxMSxxx
    Here it is:
    P/N: 8894-200
    S/N: 0304072448
    >>> Then the part number in white silkscreen lettering on the component side (Fanside)
    Here it is: 3400069807
    >>> Let me see if I can identify the card...
    Thank you very much
    >>> Some of those cards do run hot BTW.
Yeah, I agree! But maybe not as much!

  • Trying to clock MSI FX5900 TD128

First of all: HI! (This is my first post here  ) )
I recently got muself a MSI FX5900 TD128. I installed the msi drivers and I saw it is possible to adjust the clock there. It is one (2D) that says 300mhz and one (3D) that says 400mhz. I've tried to adjust the 3D-clock to 450mhz (ultra settings) but when I reboot the pc it is back at 400mhz.
I don't know if I am doing this right and what the difference on 2d and 3d-clock is. Does anybody know?

    Hi Metaman,
You are having the same problem that I had with my FX5200 that the settings were not being saved.  I do not know why this is.
I downloaded the Geforce tweak utility from http://download.guru3d.com/gtu/ this allows you to change clock settings.
P.S the 300Mhz is memory speed
the 400Mhz is the GPU speed
    kind regards

  • MSI clock/MSI information tabs cause error

Hi all. I have a geforce4 ti 4200. I've tried many of the drivers on the MSI website, but when I am in display properties and try to click on either the 'MSI clock' or 'MSI information' tabs, I get a run a dll as app error and it shuts down the display properties window. When I open it back up, those tabs are gone and only come back when I again close it and re-open it.  ?(  Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Tim

    Tim,
Download the DetonatorFX Drivers from the nVidia Website and install them. Then go in a delete the file msicpl.dll from the Windows Directory.

  • MSI TI4800SE-VTD8X & Asus P4S8X-X - Does it work?

This subject is nothing new, but has anyone made this combination work with the capture drivers?  My computer will capture the first time after I install the drivers, but the next time I reboot, the computer either hangs on startup, or the driver just doesn't work (depending on the capture driver I use).
If someone has made this work, I would appreciate knowing what version of drivers they used, including the motherboard bios and AGP port driver version numbers.
Aside from this problem and some movies being too dark, the card seems to work ok.
One other question, has anyone had any luck with MSI Tech support?  I tried to fill out their customer support page, and when I tried to submit it, received the dreaded "Page can not be displayed" and lost everything I had just typed.  I also just called them, talked to someone within  5 minutes, was put on hold for about 15 minutes, and then hung up on.  I tried calling back, but was forced to leave a message.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I am using Windows XP Pro. It was a fresh install starting with an empty hard drive.
As for the video drivers I have been using the Nvidia drivers.  I started with 43.45, but upgraded to 44.03.  Same results with either one.
I had tried the MSI drivers but they didn't work either.  After each try, I restored my drive to the "clean install state" using Norton Ghost.  I didn't want any old driver remnants to be a problem.

I have run FS2k4 with the 45.23 DetonatorFX Drivers from the nVidia Website on a GeForce4 Ti4800. Everything worked great as long as you do NOT set Anisotropic Filtering to 8X.

  • MSI TI4800SE VTD8X driver will not install

There is another thread about this issue, but it doesn't seem to address my problem. I'm assembling a computer. Throughout the assembly, the screen has not been right. In DOS mode, some of the letters are misshapen; some have descenders, strange marks attached to the bottom of the letters, In WinXP, the screen has multicolored vertical stripes, and the screen is sometimes broken up into blocks, with some blocks missing or out of place. I could read it well enough to get WinXP installed, thinking it was probably just a driver problem. However, I can't install the driver. It acts like it's going to install, then the machine reboots. I have used the MSI online update to update all of the mainboard drivers. I'm sure there's something I'm overlooking, but I don't know what. Help will be appreciated.

    bob32256,
Try the Vid Card in another comp and see if you can duplicate the problem. I want to see if the problem is the Vid Card or the AGP Slot itself. Once we know that, we will worry about getting the lastest  nVidia ForceWare Drivers to install.

  • MSI TI4800SE - Stereo Drivers

I am not happy. I just spent $200 on this video card and it seems I can't use my X3d glasses with it. When I loaded the new drivers (both the graphic and stereo) the stereo properties tab disappears. Has there been a fix for this yet?

    Smokey87,
I do not know if you will get any better benchmark scores or not but you should gain better stability.
