1. This question is related to use adclone utility to clone applications 11i....
If your production system is a multi-node
installation, which is everything (forms, reports,
concurrent, database, web) is on its own node, how do
you configure the test system if adclone is being
used? Do you need to configure your test system
the same multi-node setup as the production? Can you use
test system as single-node installation to save money?
2. There is also a unsupported way of cloning. The idea is
to copy everything from the production. Although it is
not supported, many shops actually use it and it
works. My question is if you use this
direct-copy method, can you still apply patch on the target system?

Hi,
There is no need to use multinode configuration for your test system. You can use single node and ofcouse oracle dosn't provide any utility or procedure to shift from multinode to single node configuration. You can apply patches to your single node test system without any problem.

i hav two requirements here:-

2. to clone our prod instance to PREPRD servers i.e binaries on target server (refresh)
3. want to clone database using rman

Clone Oracle Applications 11i using Oracle Application Manager

Hi All,
I am working on the following Metalink documents:

I am bit confused, if I am doing Cloning with OAM and providing all the information about the target system how does it work?
Is it that, cloning with OAM will make the required templates and I will have to just take the backup of my database and application and have to restore it on target machine and cloning is done!

Failed to clone oracle 11i on linux 5.2

I have Oracle 11.10.2.0.5 R.U.P 6
I success platform migration from HP Tru64 one node
to
02 Nodes Database on Oracle Linux 5.2 (64 bit) with Oracle database 10.2.0.4
01 Node Application on Oracle Linux 5.2 (32 bit)
then I wanted to Clone Oracle 11i from Prod to test with same Topology (2 node RAC and 1 node apps)
I followed the metalink note 760637.1 and I success to clone databse Tier from Rac to Rac
But When I tired to clone the application Side i got the flowing error when I execute adcfgclone.pl
$ perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier
Enter the APPS password [APPS]:

ERROR: context creation not completed successfully.
Please check /tmp/adcfgclone_18883.err file for errors
$ more /tmp/adcfgclone_18883.err

It seems that adcfgclone.sh is looking for i686 JRE under $COMMON_TOP/clone/jre/bin
but i have under $COMMON_TOP/clone/jre/bin only that

Am on 11.5.10.2
To create a Creating a Custom Application in Applications 11i...
i having a doubt in this.. plz explain me...
Apply ADX.E.1 and add the entry to topfile.txt as a standard product top
entry (follow the existing model in the file)
which means suppose i need to add CUSTOM_TOP, i have to add following entry in top.txt file right..
CUST /sidapp/sidappl
Customised environment variables can be added to AutoConfig by using the filename specificed by s_custom_file, which is then called from theAPPSORA.env file. If using Forms Listener Servlet, you may also need to add $CUSTOM_TOP to formsservlet.ini in $APACHE_TOP/Jserv/etc

Edit topfile.txt file under $APPL_TOP/admin to have the following entry:
cust /u01/oracle/testappl
Where:
- abc is your custom top directory
- /u01/oracle/testappl is absolute path of your APPL_TOP

Help needed in installing oracle applications 11i in Linux

Hi every one . i m trying to install oracle applications 11i suite in Linux machine.. but i am getting error in the following way
Error in File System
Error - Unable to create directory with proper privileges:
Database ORACLE_HOME
Mount Point = /d02/oracle/proddb/9.0.2
and it continues for all the directories which application is trying to create..
And also Error in File Space Check
Error - Not enough free disk space on system :
Database ORACLE_HOME = /d02/oracle/proddb/9.2.0
required = 2905.0
available = 0.0
I have some 140 GB free space in my disk... Please help me out... thankx in advance

i will explain my scenario... i have a dump of Oracle suite in Hard Drive.
assigned value to LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
Creater Users. group
created directories oracle & apps
and given permissions... to the directories...
Its showing the same error again and again... plz help out

Can Applications 11i be installed on HP-UX Cluster

Hi,
I would like to know whether Oracle Applications 11i e-biz suite can be installed on a HP-UX cluster with 9iAS load balancing and automatic failover.
Further, please let me know whether I have to order any other "extra" software (other than the clustering s/w AND oracle 11i product suite) for this installation. If so, what do I have to purchase extra?
Are there any other hardware required (other than the cluster h/w) for implementing this solution.
Awaiting somebody's reply. Preferably of some one's who has implemented this in any part of the world.

Java.lang.Exception: Invalid AD_TOP Oracle Applications 11i

Hi,
I have tried to complete Oracle Application 11i installation, but I have one problem.
I have multi node installation with 2 nodes(Virtual nodes with OEL 4).
First for database software and database and second for everything else.
I have successfully finished installation on database node and everything passed fine,
but when I have started installation with same configuration file (I have created it on the database node)
on the second node
I get the message in the log:
Starting CVM on Middle Tier.....
java.lang.Exception: Invalid AD_TOP
and my installation process wafting along time.
Can anybody help me with this problem.

Application 11i doesn't run if disconnected from network

Hi,
I've installed Oracle Applications 11i (11.5.10.2) on Windows Server 2003 on the laptop. It works fine while the laptop is connected to network but does not run if laptop is disconnected from the network. Could anybody tell workaround? Thank you!

You must use a dummy network adapter called loop back adapter and configure ur ip on it,Remember with this u can only acess the apps on the local system nobody can connect from network.
check in the forum by searching loopback adapter or google it for installtion

Guys, I applied ATG.PF.H.RUP4. In postinstall steps it is mentioned,Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i(doc-271148.1)
which says after applying patch 4038964 do the following--
AUTOCONFIG ENABLED APPLICATIONS ENVIRONMENT
If the Oracle E-Business Suite configuration files are maintained using the AutoConfig infrastructure, proceed with the following:
1. Run the AutoConfig utility.
2. Go to [JAVA_TOP].
3. Run the unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4 command. If there is a file named as .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production, which indicates that XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 is installed correctly as part of appsborg2.zip. Otherwise, run ADAdmin to regenerate the appsborg2.zip file.
4. Restart the application tier server processes such that the new version of Oracle XML Parser for Java will take effect.
but actually the patch is already applied- 4038964. How do i verify if i need to do these steps or not.
The xmlparserv2-904.zip file is already there in wrapper.classpath. of jserv.properties, forms.properties. So i think i dont need to do these steps.

The best place to find about APIs is to view the database where there are all stored, under the APPS schema. I find that with a little time spent investigation I usually find what I'm looking for.

How to start and shutdown Oracle Applications 11i?

Currently, I've installed an Oracle Applications version 11i under Sun Solaris environment. However, I encountered problems when I tried to backup the whole system for fallback purpose. I'm not really sure about the procedures in shutting down the Oracle Applications components. So, is there anyone could tell me such procedures, hopefully including the command used for shutting down the whole application system? Thanks.
Besides, I would like to know how can I start Oracle Applications 11i as a daemon? If cannot, how can I start the server within the UNIX shell? Thank you very much.

You will have specified a common directory in your installation, which is usually referred to as COMMON_TOP.
Under <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts there are a host of shell scripts for stopping, starting apps components. Also, under the database Oracle Home (816 or 817) you will find an appsutil directory with similar scripts.
Typically these two directories will be in your PATH.
You can create a stop script, typically as:
adfrmctl.sh stop
adrepctl.sh stop
adfmsctl.sh stop
adfmcctl.sh stop
adapcctl.sh stop
adcmctl.sh apps/apps_password stop (wait till FND processes cease, a sleep 300 might suffice)
adalnctl.sh APPS_<SID> stop
addlnctl.sh <SID> stop
addbctl.sh stop
A start script would call the same scripts in the reverse order, substituting stop for start.

I have problem with Move Order Pick Slip Report in Oracle Application 11i that in my system it is not running. when I submit this report from my system, the application halt and I have to restart application on my system.
on other computer it is running properly
