Clone HD and OneKey
If I clone the 160 GB S10 HD to a external 160 GB HD will I loose the OneKey restore on the clone drive?

On my S10, I used the free Easeus DiskCopy that KalvinKlein mentioned
to clone the original 160GB hard drive onto an external 320GB. (yes, it took many hours)
I put the 320GB into my S10. Booted right up!
Then I used XP's "Manage" to further partition the new additional 160GB
Then installed Chinese XP on the new partition. (for my wife)
One Key Recovery (OKR) appears to be working from within the English XP.
Meaning, when I press the OKR key, the recovery software appears.
Not sure what will happen if I actually tried to do a recovery.
Would it recover the original 160, or the full 320, or nothing at all?
But no worry because my original 160GB is now in an external
USB housing and can be recloned at any time.
You might like to explore the rather simplistic functions of XP's "Manage".
Right click on your My Computer icon.
Pick Manage.
Pick Disk Management.
Right click on the blocks that represent the partitions on your hard drive.

If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.
System Preferences > General
Have a look at your settings in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

HDD on IdeaCentre A730 is bad. Can't clone it and I can't figure out how to restore to a new HDD
There is something wrong with the HDD, I'm assuming bad sectors. Every once in a while files won't read. I can still boot from the HDD, and all the files that are important seem to be fine. I bought a new HDD of the exact same specs to replace it, as I don't want to continue using it with the uncertainty that some file I save won't be there later.
I thought I could clone the drive, and I've tried a few different software packages, but they all fail when they can't read a certain section of the HDD. Making a recovery USB didn't work, as it seems to expect the original HDD in the machine (it needs a certain partition that's not there on the new HDD).
I'm willing to do a clean install but I don't see a way to do it? There aren't any windows 8 cd's, the recovery USB doesn't seem to work unless the original HDD is still there.

sorry to read about your situation, you're probably right about the drive failing. Hopefully you've backed up all your important files already; if you haven't I'd treat that as Nr. 1 priority. When cloning I have always reverse cloned; new drive mounted in the system with the original attached through USB or whatever. My preferred cloning software is Acronis.
Something that has worked for me when cloning a "suspect" drive with probable defective sectors is when cloning to select a sector for sector copy, (takes longer), but also select to ignore errors during the process. Results have been mixed and running checkdisk on the new drive has helped on occasions.
Another "trick" which can sometimes influence / improve the process is to cool the original drive using coolbag ice pacs laid on top of the original drive in a plastc bag, so the drive doesn't get wet from the condensation, during the process.
If the clone completes and the drive is only half way useable your USB recovery drive may work, (can't be sure on this; never been in the situation so if you get that far let me know please)
Also there is the option to call support and request a set of recovery discs, which they may charge for, but you would definitely be able to install the new drive with them.

PS CS5 Extended on Windows
When trying to use the clone stamp and/or healing brush as soon as I move the cursor from the toolbar over to the image I get an exact copy of the existing layer that moves around the window with the movement of the clone stamp/healing brush. This just started tonight. What's causing this weird behaviour?What are the settings in Window > Clone Source?

I am also having problems with this healing brush and clone stamp tool
I am running Windows 7 (64 bit on a powerful computer with 6 Gb Ram and pleanty of HDD space.)
I am using a wired mouse and do not have a tablet connected.
I have duplicated the Background as a backgound copy ab\nd mad the backgound invisible ther backgound copy layer is selected and is made visible.
Clicking on the either tool, I move the cursor to the source area I wish to clone from and [Alt]-Click. I then try to love the cursor to the destination area, the part I want to cover up with material from the source area.
What happens is the entire image moves showing as I move the mouse, revealing an other image below that does not move.
Either I do not understand what these tools are supposed to do, (I doubt that because I have used this tool several times in PSE 6 without problems.) or there is something terribly wrong with the program.
I underststand, fronm reading the forums that the same problem exists in CS4.
I have checked for updates but the only update that I have not downloaded and installed is support for Raw files from newer cameras.
PS The files I am working on are originally JPGs and have not been converted from any other file type.

This looks like you have the overlay feature turned on for the tool. When you select the clone or healing brush, look up in the options bar and select the icon for more options. Uncheck the box that says "Overlay". I am not sure if each one is independently set in Elements or if a check mark turning on or off overlay effects both tools as it does with Photoshop.
I don't have a copy of Elements that includes this feature but on the option bar the icon that you need to click is located below where it says "sign in" in the editor...to the right of where it says "all layers"---square icon.

In Photoshop, this feature can be turned on/off in the clone source palette. The check mark will effect both clone stamp and healing brush...they share the current setting.
I actually forgot that this feature also effected the healing brush as well as the clone stamp. Want to guess how I keep mine set? LOL.
To be fair, I guess looking at this image I could see with a low opacity setting how it could be useful if I wanted to increase this herd of cows. -

Hi there, I'm new to the forum but I have been using Adobe creative suite for quite some time now. As the thread title describes, I'm having an issue with my photoshop clone stamp and healing brush tool that I can't seem to fix on my own. I searched the internet all day, scrolling over many other posts but I can't seem to find anyone else who is having similar issues like I am having here.
This is kinda hard to explain but the issue I am having, is that when I go to use either my clone stamp or healing brush tool, the layer I am working on whether it is a flattened background or normal editable layer, get shifted as soon as I press the option key to make a selection and then when I go to move to the area to use these tools it acts like I've duplicated the entire layer and drags it around the screen, even though no such copy and paste has been made. All of my other tools are working normally and I wasn't having this issue last time I worked on anything in photoshop.
I am running:
a Mac OSX 10.5.8
CS4 extended version 11.0.2
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.Your probably seeing the clone source overlay.
Go to Window>Clone Source and either uncheck:
Show Overlay for no overlay or check clipped to show the overlay
clipped to the size of the brush.

Two annoying bugs... clone layer and background colour
is it just my machine or is there a fix for-
-when i clone a layer the new group jumps position 20, -20. i can reset it to zero, but i am not sure why it moves it.
- whatever colour i change the background to in the preferences has no effect. it remains black. Again, this is not the end of the world, but i just wanted to see if there is anything i could do about it.
cheers!Clone layers are always offset. Not sure about the background color issue, might try trashing your prefs:
1) Quit Motion.
2) Navigate to User/Library/Preferences.
3) Locate com.apple.motion.plist and delete it. -
CS4 Clone Stamp and Dodge/Burn not Working
CS4 clone stamp is kaput. Flattening image does not help. Source region shows in the cursor circle when pointing to target region, but when I left-click and hold, the target region shows, and cloning does not occur. Tried resetting the tool, no help. Opacity is 59, flow is 85 and hardness is 51.
Likewise tried the dodge/burn tool, does not work either.
Using PS v. 11.0.1 Tried to download windows patch to update to v. 11.0.2, but the msi file is not recognized as a valid windows installer.
I have CS3 on my notebook. Cloning the same region there works fine.
Any ideas appreciated.I don't see anything obvious you've done wrong.
Some things to try:
Try temporarily disabling the use of OpenGL through Edit - Preferences - Performance, or selecting an alternate level (Basic/Normal/Advanced).
Try disabling the "Show Overlay" feature in the Clone Source panel.
Check the web site of the manufacturer of your video card for updated video drivers.

Clone stamp and healing brush issue
having problems with photoshop 5.5... new issue for me, as there weren't any issues yesterday. both the 'healing brush tool' and the 'clone stamp tool' are giving problems. when i press the alt key to collect an area to sample, on my screen it looks as tho the hand tool engages, and there is a second (copy looking) image moving around my screen over the original. i've already tried the 'tool reset all' function and rebooted... still haveing the same issue. anybody have some advise? help a guy?

To ensure that there is no output generated you can implement the BADI (Business Add-in) ME_BAPI_PO_CUST. Here you need to change the parameter CH_NO_MESSAGING (BAPI parameter "NO_MESSAGING") to 'X'. However, this should be (even though it is only a temporary modification) done in way that only the logic which enters the BAPI from MEMASSPO is touched.
This can be achieved by doing something like the following coding as the implementation in the BAPI- BADI:
FIELD-SYMBOLS <l_subrc> LIKE sy-subrc.
DATA: lf_name(128).
CONCATENATE '(' 'SAPLEIMASS' ')sy-subrc' INTO lf_name.
ASSIGN (lf_name) TO <l_subrc>.
IF <l_subrc> IS ASSIGNED.
ch_no_messaging = 'X'.
ENDIF.
This checks if the current program went through the SAPLEIMASS include before. This means that the BAPI was called by the MASS transaction. Therefore ch_no_messaging is set to 'X' and message output should be prevented.

Problem Defining Source in CS5 for Clone Stamp and Healing Brush
I am struggling to define the source point for clone stamp or healing brush in Photoshop CS5. When I first installed the program it was working just as the instructions were set out in the help menu (e.g. alt click to define the source and then move the cursor to find the area to fix). I don't know what has happened, or if I've accidentally re-set something, but now when I 'alt-click' the entire photo is selected, and even when I let go, there is a layer consisting of the entire photo (not just one point) that moves over an exact copy of the same photo underneath. This happens regardless of whether I've created an extra adjustment layer. Help! (it used to work just fine. I don't know what I've done to change it)
Ok I am not sure what you are trying to do, but I believe it is to repair or correct some anomoly on an image you are working on.
With CS5 there is the patch tool the healing brush tool and the new spot healing tool (very cool of you have not played with it yet.)
I think what you are looking at, The "Clone Stamp" is not the tool you are looking for. the clone stamp esentually does exactly what you are talking about. It clones the layer you have highlighted so when you run your brush it paints that image.
The healing and redeye removal tools are all one grouping right click on the brush to make your choice.

Clone Stamp and Alignment Box Question - Cs3
I am learning Photoshop now. According to my tutorial (TT Basic), When I realease the Mouse and Alt key after selecting the clone tool, there should be a circle showing my selected area. I do not have a circle showing, so the alignment box cannot lock onto the area, I'm guessing. My Alt Crosshairs show up in Red, if that is important. Does the layer matter in the cloning, and the lock on or off? The tutorial isn't showing the layer boxes so I can't tell.

Not clear on what you are doing. When you set the clone source location with alt + left mouse click you will get a small circle with crosshair inside. You should have a circle representing the brush size where the clone is to take place, and when you clone there will be a crosshair at the clone source.
You say you do not have circle with cloning tool. Do you get a circle with other tools like brush and eraser?
In simple terms open a image, click create new layer in layers panel and with layer active (blue) use cloning tool. What do you get? -
Issue with Clone Tool and Adjustment Brush in LR5.3
If I export a .TIFF from LR5.3 in which I've used the Clone Tool or Adjustment Brush Tool and then load the .TIFF up in Photoshop CS2 to perform further edits, I can't save the file to a .JPG - I get a '...program error...' message during the save. If I turn off the tool and export the file from LR5 again, I can do the edits in Photoshop and save it as a .jpg. The same thing will happen in Capture NX2 trying to save the LR5 exported .TIFF to .JPG. Has anyone else experienced this and are there any workarounds?
***UPDATE*** 3/7/14
Apparently no one has experienced the issue as I posted above, but in case anyone is interested, I have discovered a workaround. For some reason, the issue manifests itself when I export the TIFF with the option 'Metadata - Include All Metadata'. If I change the Metadata option to the 'Copyright Only' or 'Copyright & Contact Info Only' I am able to open the TIFF in Photoshop, make edits as needed, and then save as a JPG. Apparently LR5 is doing something weird with the Metadata file header that Photoshop and Capture NX2 doesn't like under certain circumstances. -

Below is a sample class, it plots a line chart and by clicking the Add Serie button it adds a scatter chart, and it is all fine.
This class has three mouse events, one for each axis and one chat.
Charts can be compressed / expanded by left mouse click and drag on X or Y axis, and chart can be moved left/right and up/down by left mouse click and drag anywhere on the chart.
I get axis out of sync when move or compress/expand chart.
Can you help me whit this issue?
