Clone router settings w/ different hardware versions?

Can I use the WRT54GS's Config Management feature to "clone" the settings from one WRT54GS to another if they are different hardware versions?

Hi....this may have been possible if you were using the same exact models and versions....in your case ,since the hardware versions and different...so too will be the case for the respective firmwares....

FWSM Failover - Possible with different hardware versions?

Hi, I need to replace a FWSM module currently running as the primary unit in a failover configuration installed in two 6509s. The replacement FWSM module is a newer hardware version than the current module it is to replace. Obviously I will ensure the same IOS and licenses are installed on the new module but will having a difference in the hardware versions affect the failover configuration?
The faulty module being replaced has the following hardware config:
HW 3.0
FW 7.2(1)
The replacement module has the following config:
HW 4.2
FW 7.2(1)

Daniel, this is a good question for TAC. I do not see any ducumentation on FWSM requiering to be same Hardware version, the failover requires same code and you are correct on that one. I don't think hardware version diferences may affect failover, I would suggest to have it cleared by TAC.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco - Different hardware versions??

I have a Sirocco phone which I got as an upgrade. Its version is the following :-
Nokia 8800 Sirocco

I recently got another Sirocco for my Sister, but the phone software looks different :-
Nokia 8800
V 04.10
06-04-06
RM-13
(C) NMP.
Externally the phones are the same - Second phone is made in Finland, whilst the first one is made in Germany. Anyone knows more about this?

The V4.10 is a normal 8800 - not a Sirocco. v4.21 is very latest for a 8800 Sirocco

Minimum phone firmware based on hardware version

I am looking for a document that states the different phone hardware version and the minimum firmware version the phone can hold. I can find this in the release notes for the firmware, but I don't want to look through them all to find the different hardware versions and the minimum firmware load.

Besides the RN I am not aware of such a doc, in fact this has never been an issue until recent release of 79XX phones with newer hardware which requires 9.3.1sr1 release.

WRVS4400N hardware version 2 different firmware?

Hi,
I'm experiencing problems with this model, if I try to upgrade my router from 1.00.09 to the 1.1.3 that appears in Cisco web. It rejects the firmware claiming that it's wrong file format, I double check the integrity of the file and even upload the exact same file to a WRVS4400N hardware version 1 with no problems. At this point I guess if there's any alternative firmware version not available in any regular channel.
Any help would be more than welcome.

Hi Julio,
The firmware you used will not work with v2 hardware, only v1 & v1.1. Right now there's no new firmware for v2 posted on Cisco.com.

Why is Mac Book allowing books and apps I don't use to collect info and send it out without my knowledge. My computer will not disconnect from the internet. It seems to find a clone router and continues even when I shut down and unplug my my own home iy

If the same website is opening each time you launch a browser (Safari?) hold down the shift key as you launch to prevent previous pages from opening.
Have a look at your settings in Safari > Preferences. Especially General and Privacy.
Reset Safari to remove cookies and other stored data.

Airprint no longer working – router settings wrong?

Airprint no longer working – router settings wrong? Network TP-Link TD-W8951ND router. version 5.1, Firmware build 120522. As far as I know the settings are factory defaults with two exceptions. My ISP input various settings to reflect my proper internet connect configuration. I have assigned one static port “100” to a printer not currently on the network. Auto DHCP now starts at “101”. Epson Artisan 837 printer. New, Bonjour service name EPSON3FC9CA (Artisan 837), auto IP address (currently 192.168.1.103), firmware WB15D3 38.38 linked wirelessly not by Ethernet. iPhone 4S Software 6.1.3 (10B329). iPad 3 Software version 6.1.3 (10B329) Windows Vista 32-bit laptop, linked wirelessly, auto IP address Windows 7 64-bit desktop, linked via Ethernet, auto IP address MagicJack Plus, linked via Ethernet, auto IP address Installing Epson On June 6, 2013, using my laptop, installed it wirelessly on my network. Updated firmware etc. All worked well. Same for the desktop. Again all functioning as planned. The installed printer name was Artisan 837 (Network) When I tried to use the Airprint function on my iPhone it could not find any Airprint printers. I downloaded and ran the Bonjour print services wizard. This created a printer named EPSON3FC9CA (Artisan 837). I could now print wirelessly as planned. Problem solved I thought. As of June 6, 2013 all software and firmware is current. On June 12 attempted to link my iPad to Airprint for the first time. It could not find an Airprint printer. I tried my iPhone and it could no longer find an Airprint printer. I tried numerous powerdowns, reboots, reinstalls etc. to no avail. I can point Safari wirelessly to the printer IP address on both iPhone and iPad and see the printer’s “web page” to check ink level, settings etc. I downloaded Epson iPrint to both iPhone and iPad and that software works as planned allowing wireless printing. I tested the Epson on my older Linksys router and my iPad found it as an Airprint printer! Worked wirelessly as planned. Conclusions The only thing that is not working as planned is Airprint functionality on my TP-Link network. I am thinking there is a setting on the TP-Link router that needs to be adjusted to keep the Bonjour established software path open and persistent. From the time I first established the Airprint connection to the next time I tried to establish a connection was some 6 days. Although the iPad and iPhone renew their network lease every 90 days, the other equipment lease runs for 3 days before renewal. I don’t know if the IP address of the Epson changed on renewal. (Even if it did, I would hope the discover functionality should follow to the new address.) Over that 6 day period there were no software or firmware changes. As far as I know the only environmental change would be related to IP addresses or something else at the router level severing the connection. Before trying a static IP setting for the Epson (and I don’t know if that will work) are there any other router settings to check that will clear up this situation? I am sending this to TP-Link, Epson, Apple, and my ISP in hopes that a solution can be found.

Thank you for your reply. What I didn't mention was that I have spent days googling to find an solution. I have tried most alternatives suggested to no avail. My problem is quite technical and most probably has a very specific and simple solution related to my router (set ABC to 123XY). All alternatives ended, "if this doesn't work contact the supplier". So I have - Apple (here), Epson, TP-Link and my ISP. When (if?) I find a solution I'll post it here for others to learn from.

Standby DB running on different hardware if production on Exadata v2

We where looking to by Exadata v2 Database Machine, but what is stopping us are 2 things.
As per Oracle:
1) It is impossible to connect existing Fiber storage to Exadata V2 to offload archived data from primary storage.
2) Standby database can't be built on different hardware (same OS and same DB version) except exadata V2 Database Machine.
We, probably, could survive with #1 limitation, but buying second Exadata V2 database machine is too much, especially for DR side.
Is any one has experience with this problems, or knows some Doc to answer this 2 questions.

Yes it is true if you are not using Exadata hybrid columnar compression features.
"With Oracle Database 11g Release 2, the Exadata Storage Servers in the Sun Oracle Database Machine also enable new hybrid columnar compression technology that provides up to a 10 times compression ratio, with corresponding improvements in query performance. And, for pure historical data, a new archival level of hybrid columnar compression can be used that provides up to 50 times compression ratios."
When you enable this feature, you can't build standby database on different hardware. It won't work.
I am still researching what else could be a stopper or I could say, which other Exadata V2/11gR2 features I should avoid to have standby database working on non Exadata V2 hardware?

ARD 3.3 slow screen redraw - are there special router settings ?

Hello all !
I think I read somewhere on previous Google searches about special router settings to help ARD run as quickly as possible.
I connect to an external site via an intermediate machine in a DMZ area for security (Network Group stipulation) and have found ARD 3 to be sluggish on a line that has actually been upgraded from 2MBit to 10 MBit ...
I am ARDing from my machine to another also running ARD to then get to the site ...
I also recall version 2 of ARD "seemed" to be better redraw then this version ...

Get hardware version from web page

Is there a way to find out exactly which hardware version device I'm working with. I'm troubleshooting remotely and _think_ a firmware upgrade would do the trick (DDNS timeout). I'm pretty sure it's a WRT54GS v5 or 6. The current firmware is v1.50.5, Jan. 20, 2006.

if firmware version is 1.50.5 then i believe hardware version is WRT54Gv5 or v6... latest firmware version for the router is 1.52.2, go to www.linksys.com/download and download the latest firmware for the router...

Router settings for ITouch

I have been trying to connect my new ITouch with my home wireless, but am having numerous problems. It won't accept the password. I have read some of the discussions, but there are so many things listed there. Right now my router, a WRT54G, is set as WEP with a 64 bit code. From what I have read, I should change it to a 128 bit and generate a key code for that. If I do that, will I need to do something different for my laptops, which have been working fine with the wireless? I don't want to mess things up, as I am not use to dealing with router settings, etc.

If you change the WEP Encryption from 64-bit to 128-bit,generate the passphrase for you and use KEY 1 to reconnect the wireless network on your laptop.

How to determine Hardware version when Sticker does not (seemingly) show Hardware Version ???

I currently have a Cisco RV042, I MAY be blind, but I can not see the Hardware version mentioned on the sticker at all. The router was manufactured 06/2012 and was shipped with Firmware rev: 4.1.1.01. The Hardware version does not appear next to the clearly indicated Model number.
Can the router contain Firmware 4.1.1.01, yet still not be a V03 hardware? OR - does the vary fact that it HAS 4.1.1.01 firmware mean it has V03 hardware?
I am having DNS reliability issues, and need to reset the router every couple hours to fix it. I want to update the firmware, but don't want to wreck it by putting in Firmware not meant for it.

Loading different library versions

Hi all,
I'm developing an application that detects a specific hardware, then loads the jar file appropriate for that hardware version.
My question is: How do I load multiple versions of a jar file in a single app? The idea is that the app spawns multiple threads. Each thread handles one hardware and uses the appropriate jar version.

Why do you need separate jars for each version? Is the Java code different for each version, or just the native libraries?
If it's Java code you're worried about and the jars do not overlap classes, there's no problem here.

Need to know how to reconfigure router settings

Hi - I was online with tech support for an hour before they told me that they couldn't help me unless I paid them or bought a new router. Neither is an option for me financially so I hope that someone can help. :-(
My cable signal went out very briefly, probably for 5-10 seconds. When it came back, my router was no longer working. I jumped through all the reset hoops that normally work, but nothing worked this time. The tech guy said that I needed to reconfigure my router settings. I don't know how. Can someone here help me?

Hi! You have to access the setup page of the router to reconfigure the settings. Before doing the steps though, reset your router by pushing the reset button on the device for 15seconds.

I'm wondering how I get to my router settings (on the browser, not system preferences).
I've tried entering my IP address into the address bar, but that didn't work.
I'm trying to switch the channel my internet is on, because it's interfering with my phone.

You need to experiment with different channels settings.
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup
Wireless tab/label just below the icons
The Channel setting is on this page. It's probably on Automatic now. Try some manual settings to see if you can find a better channel with less interference.
