Cs6 on mac 10.9 clone stamp/brushes not responding after 2 minutes used?

Using mac 10.9 and cs6. Clone stamp, brushes and all other tools stop responding after about 1 minute of using. With the clone stamp for example, you can see the part you are trying to clone in the crosshairs but they do not transfer?? What is happening?

How much system RAM and VRAM do you have?

Dear Adobe...why do you always have to mess with a good thing? I went to use the clone stamp for the first time since installing CS4...it's become very, very weird! A strange squggly line around the brush and some strange visible area appearing under the brush itself whenever you move it anywhere. I don't mind changes but it seems like things get changed just for the sake of changeing them.

If you read the Help page you would realise you can turn that behaviour off.
In fact it is vastly improved!

It was time well spent and in the long run saved time that would have been wasted struggling with the new features.

Quit the editor, then relaunch it while holding down command+shift+option. Keep holding down the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.
It wouldn't hurt to repair permissions, either.

I had this same problem and was searching for answers. I also prefer using a circle instead of crosshairs. I hope you've figured it out by now, but, if you haven't, here is the answer (I am using Elements 9, but, it should work for other versions I think):
1. Open up Elements Editor, Click on Edit, Click on Preferences, Click on Display & Cursors.
2. Under Painting Cursors, select Full Size Brush Tip
3. (optional) - if you want crosshairs within your circle, then also select Show Crosshair in Brush Tip.
4. Click ok.
Now use the brush, and it should have a circle to use.
P.S. Sometimes if you have your Caps Lock key on, that removes the circle as well.

Has anyone notice that the clone stamp spot healing brush in elements 13 is very jerky

I purchased elements 13 for MAC and was using it to edit today and the clone stamp and spot healing brush are not very responsive. Like they are thinking and then respond.
The controls did not respond immediately. The smoothness of elements 12 is gone!!

Your probably seeing the clone source overlay.
Go to Window>Clone Source and either uncheck:
Show Overlay for no overlay or check clipped to show the overlay
clipped to the size of the brush.

Try this:
Open your picture file
Access the clone stamp tool
Hold down the ALT key on the keyboard and left click on the area from which you wish to clone, then release the ALT key, and click to place the pixels at the destination
TIPS:
It is a good idea to open a blank layer at the top in the layers palette, and do the cloning on this layer. Be sure that "sample all layers" at the top is checked. You can change the layer opacity if necessary
Use the bracket keys next to the letter p on the keyboard to increase & decrease the size of the cursor
Let us know how you make out with the error message now.

Clone Stamp not working in Elements 5

I have tried the trouble shooting sugestions on page 245 of Photoshop Elements 5, The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage. However, I have been unable to get my clone stamp to work. Previously the clone stamp was working o.k. Do you have any other suggestions that I might try?
Also, are there some good editing advantages/improvements by upgrading to Elements 7 ?

I held the keys down while starting the editor from the welcome screen and
got the box to delete the preferences. However I have not been able to get
the clone stamp to work. The delete preferences must have worked because my
brushes were changed back to the original setting. I normally use a
different setting to show the brushes as circles. I have been trying to
clone with the Size: 21 ps; Mode: Normal; Opacity: 100% and Aligned checked.
I have tried both checking and unchecking Aligned and Sample All Layers. I
tried a different photo but with the same results. When I Alt click to clone
I get a small circle with something similar to a plus sign in the circle.
The Edit shows an "Undo clone stamp" each time I Alt Click and try to clone
but nothing was cloned.
This is the first time that I've encountered this problem.

Clone stamp tool stuck in PS Elements 10

In PS Elements 10 (Mac OS 10.6.8) , the clone stamp tool has selected (not by me) a texture from the palette. I cannot deselect the selected texture or select a sample of a photo; the clone stamp tool inserts the texture image whenever I key in option-click. I have rebooted, tried using different tools etcetera but nothing works. I now cannot use the clone stamp.

Problem Defining Source in CS5 for Clone Stamp and Healing Brush

I am struggling to define the source point for clone stamp or healing brush in Photoshop CS5. When I first installed the program it was working just as the instructions were set out in the help menu (e.g. alt click to define the source and then move the cursor to find the area to fix). I don't know what has happened, or if I've accidentally re-set something, but now when I 'alt-click' the entire photo is selected, and even when I let go, there is a layer consisting of the entire photo (not just one point) that moves over an exact copy of the same photo underneath. This happens regardless of whether I've created an extra adjustment layer. Help! (it used to work just fine. I don't know what I've done to change it)

Ok I am not sure what you are trying to do, but I believe it is to repair or correct some anomoly on an image you are working on.
With CS5 there is the patch tool the healing brush tool and the new spot healing tool (very cool of you have not played with it yet.)
I think what you are looking at, The "Clone Stamp" is not the tool you are looking for. the clone stamp esentually does exactly what you are talking about. It clones the layer you have highlighted so when you run your brush it paints that image.
The healing and redeye removal tools are all one grouping right click on the brush to make your choice.

If you are using track pad, please use mouse and see if your issue is resolved.
Moreover, this issue has been resolved in PSE 13. You can give it atry as well.

It would mean A LOT TO ME IF anyone HELPED ME. I HAVE THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM RIGHT NOW AS THAT LINK, EXCEPT MINE IS ONLY THE CLONE STAMP.
I use a Windows Vista and use Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0 on it.
I have the same exact problem now, the clone stamp randomly stopped working, a week ago. I tried resetting, doing everything else you can think
of and its just not working. Now I also tried doing that trick on that link that helped that person, but since I have a windows vista I am so lost and
don't know how to get to those settings or where to go. Anyone know anything about how to help fix mine, please reply to me. It would mean so much
to me. What also makes me sad is that I misplaced my cd-rom to uninstall and re-install, thats why I want to get through this naturally and try to fix it without re-installing it and stuff. Please help me.

I read the other post. I wasn't sure from your post if you were able to reset the preference files or not. (I wasn't sure if you ever got the reset dialog.)
Reset application preference files: When you click the Editor launch icon, press and hold in the ctrl + shift + alt keys. Do not release these three keys. A dialog box will come up saying something like "Delete Photoshop Elements settings file?" After this dialog comes up, you can release those three keys. Click OK to accept.
See if that works.
If the above, did not work...
Did you just install a program right before this started happening? If so, that program might be "stealing" the alt key. See this article:

How to engage a Clone-stamp-like 'overlay' for the Brush tool?

Hi All
As I'm sure many of you know, the clone stamp has an 'overlay' option as a default that allows your cursor to act as a preview of the preselected source that will be cloned/painted onto a given area should you proceed to make contact with your tablet or click your mouse.
I find this feature quite useful, except I would like to have it when using my Brush tool. For example, on a blank layer with a white background, with the Brush tool selected (say a soft brush), and Green as my foreground colour selected, I would like my brush cursor to display a preview of what would result on the layer should I start painting - in this case, a green circle with a soft fade. Bare in mind, this would merely be a preview, prior to my pen making contact with my tablet.
Is this possible? I'm open to any options, perhaps there's a plugin?

That's a really bizarre way to number pages. Make sure you specify this to the printers, as a note to them. It's just not a normal way to number pages and printers would appreciate a heads up on it.
There is no way to automate it as such. It would have to be manually updated when pages are added or moved around.
You will still need two Master Pages
Create an empty text frame on the Master Page on both spreads, make sure they are linked.
Create a text file with sequential numbering from 1 - whatever the final page number is. (excel can do this quite easily).
Place the text file into the Main Pages at the starting page.
You will then need to apply the Master Page without that text frame to every page that does not need a page number.
You can do this easily by holding down Control (might be CMD on Mac) and then selecting the pages that don't require page numbers - then use the Apply Master Pages and select the master page to apply to those pages.
