Configure SSO Connection from SAP Enterprise Portal to BOE Server

Hi Guys,
We recently installed a BOE Server and want to connect it to our SAP Enterprise Portal. What we need is just to display the Crystal Reports via Enterprise Portal. We have set up the following:
SAP EP with AD Authentication
SAP EP configured with SNC to SAP BI7 system
SAP BOE XI 3.1 - SAP Integration Kit
BOE Server configured with SAP Authentication via SAP BI7 System
We've also set up BOE IK iviews and URL iviews pointing to existing reports in BOE. However, when we access it from EP, it prompts for a username and login to BOE. Is there a way to configure these so that there is no prompt for login to BOE server and SSO is used? Is it also possible to have a service account (e.g. domain/crystal) that will run the reports in BOE everytime a user accesses a report from SAP EP?

Hi,
You should configure InfoView for SSO first, which required infoview.xml file modification, using windows AD default authentication. If you want to utilize the OpenDocument URL for iView then you also need to configure OpenDocument.xml file for SSO also. The SAP portal must have trust relation with the SAP BW server so the Windows AD token can be authenticate with SAP BW server.
If you want crystal user to run all the report then you will lose data security. It can be done by hard coding user name and password in the report properties and database logon but the SSO capability can be accomplished only by windows AD, SAP or LDAP.

Report refresh not working on BOE server (infoview)

Hi,
Having trouble refreshing Crystal report from BOE server (infoview) . Please see steps below I have used to create the report and refresh it.
Version : Crystal Developer 2008
Server : BOE XI 3.0
Here is what I did :
1) Created a BW query with paramters - couple of them are mandatory parameters.
2) Created a Crystal report from BW query ( MDX was selected )
3) Refreshed the report in Crystal Developer - Runs perfectly fine
4) Published the same report to BOE server ( infoview) WITH NO DATA SAVED option
5) Opened up the report in BOE to run it.
6) Displays the parameter selection box on the screen :
7) I enter the mandatory values and execute - Report does not refresh and keeps displyaing the selection Box.
NOW - SAVED THE REPORT WITH DATA option
8) Published the same report to BOE server ( infoview)
9) Opened up the report in BOE to run it.
10) MY FORMATTING features are messed up for e.g Graph Titles
11) Displays the SELECTION values saved with the Crystal report
12) I enter new selection values , report brings up the old data
If I can get some help that woud be great.

Crystal Report and SAP BW and BOE Server

Hi,
I have installed the following on my local PC:
1) Crystal Report (51038906 CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008 V1 SP3 Win Server on IA32 32bit) on my local machine.
2) SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 (follow Ingo's document, but under the "Component", I only select the "Client" as I installed this on my local machine)
In Crystal Report, I can build new report on top of SAP BW Query. I can save into BW System via menu SAP ->Save as
In Crystal Report, menu File ->Save as, there I have the option Enterprise. When I click on the Enterprise, I can logon and save the crystal report into the BOE folder that I created, but encountered this error:
Failed to commit objects to server:
Create operation fails
Do you know what's the problem?
At the moment, I have installed BOE XI 3.1 SP2 and SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP2 on the BOE Server. Do you think this is the cause of the problem (I am using SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 on my local PC)?
Any help will be appreciated.

To start with there is no SP1 for XI 3.1
The version number 12.x.y.z can be read as follows:
12 means that you have BusinessObjects XI 3.something
x is the Service Pack Number. If x=1 this means that BOE XI 3.1 is installed. XI 3.1 is considered to be BO XI 3.0 with SP1.
z is the number of fix pack.Note that 0 means that you do not have any Fix Pack installed.
So if you see something like:
12.2.4.z
you can assume that you have BO XI 3.1 with SP 2 and FIx Pack 2.4 installed
In your case
12.1.0.z
means that you have BOE XI 3.1 installed.

How to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server

We want to change the name / IP address and domain name for BOE Server, please could you indicate the steps or procedure to follow?

If it's 3.1 just change them, shouldn't cause any issues if by domain name you are referring to changing the domain the computer belongs to. If you are changing your domain for AD authentication then you will may have to take quite a few steps if the old domain is going away. Let us know.

Distribute Crystal Report from BOE Server

Installation on Client machine:
Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP1 and SP2
SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP2
Installation on BOE Server:
BOE XI 3.1 SP2
SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP2
Installation on BW:
SAP BW 7
========
Created crystal report on top of SAP BW Query, and save/publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server directly via Crystal Report ->File ->Save as (I understand that we can also save the Crystal Report into BW role, then publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server via the BW Publish, but we're not using the BW Publish option here).
Now user can logon to BOE InfoView and execute/display the Crystal Report, no problem.
My question is in BOE Server, is there any functionality that allow us to execute the Crystal Report and send it to the user automatically via email? Just like the BEx Broadcaster functionality in SAP BW 7.
If yes, how can I do it?
Any help is appreciated.

I can see where to schedule the Crystal Reprot to run in the background and send out via email option.
However, I dont see how the report can be sent out from BOE server. Is there any setting need to be done so that BOE Server can send out the crystal report?

Create a BOE Server Definition have an error

today i install and configure the BO with BI 7.0 following ingo's doc,everything is right ,but when Create a BOE Server Definition i have an error !
when i click Verify BOE Definition ,there is an error "unable to call out destination,Verrify destination in sm59"! i test my RFC Connection ,it's all right.

yes, i have started the BW publishing service on the BOE Server Side from the CCM.
- did you configure the SAP Authentication on your BusinessObjects system ?
yes,i have Configured the SAP Authentication including "Enable SAP authentication","Configure Global Options for the SAP Authentication" and "Import SAP Users and Roles" the three steps on my BusinessObjects system. and the role that imported to BOE is created as the pdf -"BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions Installation and Administration Guide" in BI 7.0 system. even i have give the role sap_all ,i think the Authentication is no problem and they work well.
- when you go to SM59 and run a connection test on your destination - does everything work ?
yes, i have tested the connection on my destination and it work well ,30 kb only need 7 second. the programid is the same with the BW Publish Service.
and before installing BusinessObjects XI Integration, there are something need to alert:
- SAP Frontend Installation? i have installed sapgui710 as the doc!
- SAP Java Connector? i have downloaded jco 2.1.8 for 32 bit because my BOE Server Side is 32 bit.
- SAP Transports?i ask for sap basis importing them to BI 7.0 system.
- SAP Single-Sign-On? the two tickets have configured on BI 7.0 system.
- BOE Server Side requirements? i have added the saplogon.ini file to the saplogon_ini_file environment   variable.
as to eliminate the error ,i have configured something else:
- "Configuring the SAP HTTP Request Handler" have no error!
- "Configure the SAP Source Parameters" have no error!
at last, i have some puzzles:
- now i use the program id that configured by others.whether it need to be seted only for BOE connect BI 7.0？and how to set the program id？
- the pdf -"BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions Installation and Administration Guide" tell me there are two ways to configure BW publisher ,Configuring the BW Publisher as a service now we are using and the other way is configure BW publisher with a local sap gateway.
is there one possibility   :maybe my BW system now are seted not to support using the first way- "Configuring the BW Publisher as a service "but the second way.

How to decrease timeout value when there is no response from BOE server?

We are using BOE XI R2 .NET SDK to logon BOE XI R2 Server as below as well as using Infoview/CMC logon BOE:
set boSessionManager = Server.CreateObject("CrystalEnterprise.SessionMgr")
set boEnterpriseSession = boSessionManager.Logon(boUserID, boPassword, boCMS, boAuthType)
There is no response for long time from BOE server after I excuting log on BOE using .NET SDK or Infoview/CMC App for more than one minute.
So I want to timeout the logon atction after a certain time such as one minute if there is no response from BOE server.
My question comes:
1. What is the default timeout value for this operation?
    Where can I find it and how to modify it?
2. I found ther are some registry keys on .NET APP Server:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Report Application Server\InprocServer\EnterpriseRequestTimeout
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Report Application Server\Client SDK\CorbaAdapter\WaitReplyTimeout
Are they for the action timeout I mentioned above? If not, what do they work for?
It seems that WaitReplyTimeout is for report data retrieval timeout according to Kbase article 1199286 and which registry setting to change for long running reports, is it correct?

I don't think there is a setting available for this. The timeouts you are looking at are essentially how long to wait for a report to process.
My concern about trying to find a setting like this is that if you do get the client (aka SDK) to timeout after one minute, the CMS may still recieve this request shortly after and logon, creating a session that no longer has a handle to it and will then have to wait for it to timeout because of inactivity which would tie up a license.

Cloning OS X Server

We're an ISP migrating to OS X Server. We're running around 40 business Web sites, and have about 1,000 mail users, and we'd like to know the best way to maintain a standby machine which is a clone of our main server.
Our thinking is that if we can clone the main machine daily, we could then swap in the clone, with minimal data loss, when the main machine fails. Lately, though, we've been reading that cloning a live server is asking for trouble, since things are constantly changing -- especially with the mail server.
So I'd like to ask how others in this forum deal with maintaining an up-to-date standby machine for a mission-critical server. Taking the main machine offline every night to do a clone doesn't seem like a great option. I know some people use RAID. Any other ideas? Thanks.

There are several things to be looked at. First the actual mail (server). Since its data changes continously cloning is not a viable option. Here you'll need at the very least:
RAID
At least 2 mail servers
1 as a Primary MX
1 as a Backup MX
And they should be in seperate locations and subnets.
Next there is the user database. This luckily doesn't change so often. Either have several Open Directory servers or recompile Postfix to use MySQL. Having mail users in an SQL database, allows for easy recovery from a backup.
But this is just a very basic suggestion and doesn't take into account your existing setup.
Also it is a matter of deciding how critical the data you are hosting is and how much money you are willing to throw at your systems and overall resilience.
Having said that, I think your best bet is to hire a local consultant and look at things on site.

Problem Cloning a Managed Server

What I am doing is cloning an existing NODE but with a diferent Listen Port.

I have read that this error could be caused for a Port Used by another application o a problem with the debug port.
But the port that I am setting is free (Checked with netstat ) and the Debbug is not enable.

Hi,
The cause is server running in debug mode and having the same debug port as an existing server on same machine.
For each domain running in development mode on the same machine make sure DEBUG_PORT in the setDomainEnv script has different values.
If you have multiple managed servers on the same domain and same machine. Create a separate startManagedWeblogic script to start your managed servers and set the Debug Port in that script.

Cloning Windows Terminal Server VM multiple times ?

I got one Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard that is already configured as Terminal Server (RDSH) it only contains Microsoft Office 2010 Professional SP2. I have joined this host to the AD domain and it can communicate to the licensing server as well.
Note: I’m running VMware vSphere as the hypervisor.
I need to deploy around 45 more terminal servers VM and wondering if I can just clone the fully configured VM above and then change the IP address and server name manually (rename the server and then re-join the domain). Would that be possible or is there
any caveats that I need to know before doing this way?

You now have a sysprepped gold image
clone until your heart is content
Rename cloned image and join to domain.
Add cloned machine back into your deployment (see below)

Cloning UCM Managed Server

We have implemented WCM in our project. (Webcenter Portal + Webcenter content) PS3.
UAT :1
We have Internet and Intranet applications deployed in the same domain under different managed servers.
Common webserver is present for both Internet and Intranet. Reference to this webserver has been put in the config.cfg file of UCM.
Prod :
We have Internet and Intranet applications deployed in the same domain under different managed servers.
Different webservers for both Internet and Intranet applications. In this case, if we map to either of the webservers, load on it will be heavy. If the webserver goes down, contents for both Internet and Intranet applications will not be available.
Our query:
1. Do we have any option to give mulitple entries of httpServeraddress variable in config.cfg.
2. We were thinking of cloning the current ucm managed server, point it to the same repository and just point to different webservers. But is cloning of UCM Managed server recommended.

Great!
I had the same error: when starting UCM on WL Console, it starts and says Running. But when accessing it on the browser receive the error 404. In the other hand, when starting with Commands, it force shutdowns.
I have set the StartScriptEnabled property to true, now I can start UCM only on the command Line, to start it on WL Console, I have to manually start the node manager.
Is there a way/script to start the node manager automatically?

Cloning A Production Server

Hello All,
I have the following scenario.
mySAP 2004(ECC 5.0) on AIX and Oracle 9.2.6.0
Current DB Size is around 150 GB.
SID: PP1, IP: 192.168.1.13
My requirement is to copy this same environment onto another sever (Create a DR instance) with the following options.
mySAP 2004(ECC 5.0) on AIX and Oracle 9.2.6.0
SID: PD1, IP: 192.168.1.14
I am aware of the fact that i have the following options with me.
1. The SID has to be different (Since both the old server and the new server will co-exist)
2. There will be a change of IP.
3. Points 1 and 2 necessitate a fresh install on the NEW server.
4. The options for "cloning the system" are
 a. Homogeneous System Copy
 b. Client Export and Import.
I now ask,
1. What is the best possible option for me to perform the "cloning" in the shortest possible time and the method, if possible.
2. What is the downtime i should expect based on the DB size (150 GB).
3. Any other method ?
I would be very grateful for any resolutions that are provided and would reward the same.

Hi Guyz, I think Subhodh is looking for cloning the database for systemcopy and client copies not for DR(disaster recovery) if it is for DR recovery then it has to be exactly same as production. If you are looking to clone the database for test with different SID then here is the simple way:
(only database part)
1.take full offline backup of source system(PD1 in your case)
2.just before or after backup take control file back to trace
( SQL>alter database backup controlfile to trace)
3.restore the database&redologs onto the target system with relavant file systems
e.g: if your source datafile paths are /oracle/PD1/sapdata1/....
 then on target system it will be like /oracle/TRG/sapdata1...
4.ftp or copy the traced control file from location usertrace .trc file will be created
 with time stamp when you run the above command.
5.after you copied trace file on target system name it as cr_db.sql and edit the file
6. when you open the cr_db.sql you will see the two parts of control file when you have online redologs and when you dont have online redologs , remove part two.
7.edit first part from startup nomount and in place of reuse reaplce set, in place of
PD1 replace TRG. keep the script until characterset and delete every thing there after.
8.copy your spfile<SID<.ora OR init<SID>.ora file from source to target
9.after you installed oracle( or copied bineries from source) at SQL prompt
10.SQL>startup nomout
11.run the script cr_db.sql SQL>@<path>/cr_db.sql
12.now your database is at mount stage
13.SQL>alter database open resetlogs
14.create temp tablespace
15.ALL DONE your database is cloned.... now follow other steps from homogenous system copy manual from market place.
