Cloning a resource making my head spin

Newbie question: why is cloning a resource so complicated?! If I want to clone the resource "AD User" the modifications to my exported 1.4MB XML file are not very well explained anywhere. Despite spending a good amount of time on these forums, there is no clear explanation of the fields which need to be modified to support the cloning operation.

We are on same boat. I am trying to Clone AD User. Had partial luck. I am able to create the Objects for my new AD. However Still haveing few things to try out.
And I have the SR. But it will be slowest way.
Better develop some knowledge on the Object.
Try to run few iterations of trying with XML files.
The only details from the Connector is available on this.
From the Connector Documentation (Oracle Identity Manager Connector Guide for Microsoft Active Directory User Management - Release 9.1.1 - E11197-11):
Section: 4.15.1
To create a copy of the connector:
1.     Create copies of the IT resource, resource object, process form, provisioning process, scheduled tasks, and lookup definitions that hold attribute mappings.
2.     Create a copy of the Lookup.AD.Configuration lookup definition. In the copy that you create, change the values of the following entries to match the details of the process form copy that you create.
•     ROUserID
•     ROUserManager
•     ROFormName
•     ROUserGUID

3.     Map the new process tasks to the copy of the Lookup.AD.Configuration lookup definition.

This is making my head spin... Please help!

I've been an Apple convert for a little over a year now and I love the devices and the simplicity of the apps... Until now. It seems that some things just aren't a intuitive as they appear. I was unable to find an answer to my multi-pointed question.
I'm using an Intel iMac i3 processor (mid 2011) with a 1 TB drive and iPhoto 11. Prior to this fiasco I had probably about 20,000-23,000 (about 150 GB?) pics imported into iPhoto. Things were going great.
Some background... Skip to the break for the actual questions if you're not into reading my sob story.
I am pretty paranoid about losing data, although I have never had a catastrophic data loss yet from keeping multiple backups everywhere when I was using PCs. I could have stuff on my PC at work, on a Windows-based laptop, at home, on another computer, etc. Pretty easy but not very integrated. I have been slow to adopt this strategy to Mac because, frankly, it's sort of expensive to do things like this. Time Capsules and all the various external hard drives for backup are pretty pricey and reliability appears to sometimes be an issue, so I've been carefully resarching things for a little over 6 months now.
My Mac's power supply blew out a few weeks ago and that scared me into action. I settled on Dolly Drive, a cloud based backup service that has Time Machine capabilities. From the reviews I read online it seemed to be an excellent solution. I was going to eventually supplement this with a physical backup/time machine solution, but Dolly Drive seemed to be suitable as a starting point.
I decided that before I backup iPhoto, I should send the Masters folder to Dolly Drive Sync so that I can also download it onto my Macbook. This is in keeping with my paranoia and desire to keep multiple physical copies of stuff. I opened the Dolly Drive Sync folder and the iPhoto Library folder and copied the folder into Dolly Drive Sync. Never having looked into the Masters folder I decided to open it up just to see how the Mac indexes everything, and man, it was way more complicated and impractical for keeping across several machines than I had thought. I decided to interrupt the transfer by dragging the Dolly Drive Sync folder copy of Masters to the Trash bin and, as is my usual practice, I emptied it right after.
My hard drive started spinning like crazy. I knew right away that my originals were being deleted off the hard drive. I really have NO idea why that happened. It should be pretty intuitive that only the copy of Masters should be deleted and not the original Masters which remained in the iPhoto Library.
So there's my problem. I've lost about 23,000 pictures and short video clips, mostly family stuff and my young daughter.
Right away I began running File Salvage from SubRosaSoft. It's been running for about a day now and it's been retrieving some of the photos onto my Macbook, which has been mounted as a network drive. It's still in process and I anticipate that this will go on for a few more days. Luckily I looked across a couple of my Apple devices and between my wife's iPad, my iPad, and our iPhones, I was able to retrieve 19,000 photos onto my Macbook (while File Savage is still spinning in the background). There's still some missing and the ones missing aren't super important. File Salvage retrieves the original file but not the original file name or folder directory structure, so that presents a problem for iPhoto's indexing. Similarly the photos I'm retrieving from the iOS devices are being given sequential generic IMG_XXXX filenames which also isn't consistent with the iPhoto database, so that won't be very useful in fixing iPhoto either (at least I don't think).
So here are my questions...
1) In comparing some of the retrieved photos from File Salvage and the ones I lifted off the iOS devices, the iOS versions are about half the size (3MB vs. 6MB for most pictures) and the resolution is slightly less (5000 x 4000 for the originals and 4800 x 3900 for the iOS). I'm not planning to edit these or spruce them up to be frank, so would you just call it a day and forget about wading through the thousands of File Salvage photos to pick out and put them into the appropriate folders? Is there something about the iOS versions that a regular guy will miss and can only be found on the originals? I'd still need to complete File Salvage to retrieve the missing videos...
2) How do I go about re-indexing the iPhoto Library? When I open iPhoto all the thumbnails are there but when I try to see the picture there's a big excalamation point that tells me the file is missing. Do I need to delete the entire iPhoto Library (how do I do that?) and create a new one using the stuff I got off the iOS devices? Is there a way to associate the current thumbnails in iPhoto with the files that I've retrieved but whose names are different and the Masters folder structure is gone?
3) Any way to rebuild the masters from the thumbnails or from the iPod photo cache? Aren't the iOS pictures I'm transferring now just a version of the iPod photo cache folder?
4) What do I do about syncing through iTunes? As far as I can tell the photo sync tab uses the iPhoto albums and events. I'm newish to Mac, so I'm worried about starting up iTunes and having it destory all my iOS devices by wiping them clean through its auto-sync.
My apologies for the long post. It's kind of a complicated problem and I don't know anyone who knows how any of this stuff really works. I sure have learned a heck of a lot about Mac in the last few days though!

My guess is that you didn't copy but moved. It's the only thing that makes sense.

Sounds like you're gettting previews rather than the originals.

I'm afraid only you can answer that. How important is that information to you? Me? I would, but I'm like that... On the other hand, once they're back in iPhoto you can do there, you don't have to do it first.

That library is toast. Forget about it. To fix it you'd need to rename each file exactly right and put in a folder named exactly right (for the date and time of import)... you're in a 'start over situation'...
To delete a Library: Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Drag it to the trash on the Dock.

No and No.
I'd ask on the forum for your iOS devices for information on the Syncing.

Mail consumes a lot of resources making the os unusable

I'm having a weird problem with Apple Mail: After launching, the program rapidly starts taking a lot of the system resources making it impossible to run any other program.
CPU utilization is very high, the Mail process takes around 2.5 Gb of RAM (real memory) and over 20 Gb of virtual memory.
The only thing Mail appears to be doing is updating it's cache.
What could be wrong? Besides using another mail client, what are my options?

Hi eroussel,
I'd suggest to try the following for starters:
When launching Mail.app, try opening the mail activity monitor by going to Window --> Activity, or command-0. It should show you some detailed information on if anything is happening in the background in regards to talking to your mail server, smtp server, etc.
As Linc Davis said, try booting in Safe Mode and see if the same thing happens.
If the same thing happens in Safe Mode, try deleting the mail account (assuming you only have one) and re-create it again using the settings from your mail provider. Be sure to backup your computer first!!
While doing all of this, leave the Activity monitor up from both Mail.app and the Mac OS X system Activity Monitor.

Making my header background image scaleable using fluid grid layout

I'm sorry I dont really know how to post a link to this site (its not online just on my laptop) But really all I have is a blank screen I just started trying to build this responsive site (the site I was building wasn't responsive so i had to start over so thats where I'm at. I started a new fluid grid layout in dreamweaver cc I use 24 collums at 100%. I deleted the the div (but not the grid container one) . First is that I'm trying to build a header using the fluid grid layout (my laptop screen is 1920 px wide so I use the full screen because I want my site to take up a users full screen). The issue is when I use a image thats 1920 px width for a header background it test great in the browers meaning it scales correct but when I check it out in the smartphone and tablet preview options within dreamweaver cc the image is chop off. How do I get the image and really the rest of the site to scale and resize correctly not just in full screen for my pc but for tablets smartphones and anyones computer? I'm baffled please help? I hope I'm being clear if not I'll try again I need your help thank you

Making an Header in the SOAP Req

the thing is that in the WSDL I recieve an header and a body, and I would like to put in each part different data, but still that it will all go out to the SOAP as one XML with Header DATA and BODY DATA.

What's the best program for making a header containing rollover navigation links?

I have all CS4 programs and I'm looking to make a header that contains an interactive rollover nav bar. I want the bar to be located within the header. What is the best program for creating the header and rollover buttons. I'm aware i could manipulate the images in other programs, but placement and rollover button creation is what I'm looking for. Thanks. I'm thinking maybe flash or fireworks?

Making a logo spin

A very amateuristic approach to this is to
• put loggo in a separate video track
• distort it sideways so it gets thinner and thinner
• keyframe this alteration
• till it is full size again but mirrored
• make a copy that are reversed and make it play after first one
repeat this double sequense and one has faked/animated a rotation effect.

I put the class in to C:\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes
I then edit web.xml to include

Head Spinning on Creating a Apple Lossless and AAC libraries

I am contemplating archiving all my CDs to an Applelossless library using iTunes. Before doing so, I have some questions. We are in a WIN XP environment.
1) How do I convert an Apple Lossless album to AAC format with all the album info in tack to a separate iTunes library?
2) How do I give multiple WIN XP users access to this single AAC library via iTunes to load their iPod or buy music for this single AAC library?
3) If I add CDs to the Apple Lossless library using iTunes, is there a way to keep the AAC library automatically in sync?
Is there a better approach I should consider?

To set up another library in the same Windows user account hold down the shift key when starting iTunes. In one library have your lossless files. In the other library have the AAC files. In the second library import the lossless files with settings set to convert to AAC. To allow multiple users access to the same file store the library where they both have access. Each library is independent, changes in one are not made in the other automatically. You will have to add to one in lossless, go to other library then import the files there.
Better approach. Maybe. I think it is a waste of space to use Apple lossless. My hearing can't tell from AAC 192k from CD. So I just use AAC at 192k or 160k. Even lower for audiobooks.

Entourage (Exchange) to iCal iPhone calendar time shift making my head hurt

I use Entourage on an Exchange server for my calendar. I create all events there, not on the iPhone.
Yesterday I noticed I received an invitation to a meeting that started at 8 a.m. in Entourage. The pop-up blue push notification on my iPhone said it started at 3 p.m.
In Mail, Contacts, Calendars my husband found the Time Zone Support and turned it off, which seemed to fix it.
Today I was looking for an event on Dec. 31 on my iPhone, and it was not there. I looked in Entourage and it was where expected. I deleted it in Entourage and re-added, it still did not show up on the iPhone.
I turned off calendars and deleted them on the iPhone, then re-enabled and the event was still not there.
I also noticed that an event on Dec. 25 from 3 p.m.-5:30 p.m. incorrectly shows as ending a day later at 5:30 p.m. on the iPhone.
I turned Time Zone Support back on and set it to my time zone, and found my Dec. 31 event on Jan. 1 on the iPhone. In the Month view it shows as starting at 7 p.m., which is correct. If I click the event to view details, it says Jan. 1 from 2:30 a.m.
I created a test event in Entourage Dec. 28 at 3 p.m. On the iPhone in month view it shows up Dec. 28 at 3 p.m., but if I click the event to view details it says the event starts at 10 p.m. Dec. 28.
Does anyone know how I can fix this time warp??

With Time Zone Support off on the iPhone, new events I add via Entourage are showing up one day late in the month view on the iPhone.

ITunes 7.5 is making my head explode!!!

So I updated my iTunes to 7.5 a couple of hours ago, and when I opened the updated version my library and playlists are completely blank. Then I get Quicktime 7.3 and when my computer restarts, my desktop and preferences are all wrong. What the **** is going on? I don't want to lose all my playlists and playcounts and risk connecting my iPod and having it sync to nothing?

Yeah man, it sounds like you are in the same boat as I. The only difference is that you went a step ahead of me and actually have Itunes working partially.
But if you ask me with your situation, those are high-computer strength applications, especially converting and rewriting tags. Both of those could easy crash your Itunes. I even read in one post a few min ago, that Itunes changes the year on their comp to 8721 or something, which messes with their Internet and anti-virus programs.
I can't say if you should install and try an older version though. You won't lose your music, but if your situation is like mine, then you'll just have to wait for the auto-update pop-up message or check back on Apple for the update.
You know what? I am actually wondering if Apple checks their updates before giving them to us...I mean the 5th largest music company in the world has no excuse for this. This is a business loss.

Scaling rectangles making my head hurt-

I’ve got four rectangles: the main stage, a sprite (an
LDM), the stage within the LDM, and a boundingRect of objects
within the LDM (so the coordinates are relative to the LDM stage,
not the main stage). I need a transform (scale, rotate, and
translate) that when applied to the LDM sprite produces a best fit
between the boundingRect within the LDM and the main stage. The
rotation will either be 0 or 90. The following code gets the scale
and rotation but I’m having trouble figuring out the
translation once a scale has been applied. It looks like the map()
method should help but so far I haven’t been able to make use
of it.

I’m sure I’ll get this if I just work through it
methodically but maybe someone will beat me to it. The following
two links show the pre-scale and post-scale arrangement of
rectangles drawn at 25% scale. Some notes:
The small colored boxes represent sprites within the LDM.
The bounding box around these sprites is calculated on the
fly (the sprites are positioned by the user)
The main stage size is fixed.
The LDM sprite starting size is fixed but its position on the
main stage is not (it can be scrolled by the user).
The LDM sprite must be scaled, rotated, and translated such
that the bounding box (which scales within the LDM) achieves a best
fit on the main stage.

MacMini is making a metallic spinning sound

This noise seems to happen every now and then. It's really grating on my ears and nerves when it happens - it sounds very metallic; so would like to know what I'm hearing and if it's anything to be concerned about or not.There seems no particular reason for it to start up. It's random as to how often it happens too. It will start up, getting louder and eventually sounds like it's winding down and go away. Sometimes the volume of the sound goes up and down, up and down, and will eventually go away. I think it's a fan noise but not sure. I usually check the old girl for heat by placing my hand on the top of it when I hear the noise... sometimes it's warm while other times it's not so much.
Anyone know what it is?
Should I be worried?
Does it need a Mini doctor (pun intended)?

Just to add to my inquiry above... this noise is not happening upon boot up, but rather at other times. I never turn off my Mini unless I need to reboot it after a freeze, when it crashs, during a power outage (after my UPS runs out of power) ,after doing an update, and a few other various reasons. It's on 98% of the time 24/7 as the nightly backup happens around 1:30 am.

Making classes talk to each other, getting my head around object-oriented

How many questions can I ask before people get annoyed? Hope I'm not asking too many. This is probably a dumb question, but trying to do this whole object-oriented thing is making my head spin. I want my program to make something happen in Panel 2 when there's a mouse event in Panel 1 and vice versa. In psuedo-code (very pseudo):

private class MousyListener implements MouseListener
public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent event) {
Make stuff happen in panel2
I don't even know where to start. I've looked at the tutorials,I've looked in my books, but I still as confused as ever. Could someone please give me a hint as to how I make this happen?

What is annoying is when people cross post the same question. Or when people ask 37 obviously exam type questions in the span of 5 minutes. But as you're not doing either of those don't worry about it.

1) When posting code on this forum please make sure and use the code formatting tags. You can do this by selected the code in the posting message box and clicking the CODE button.
2) I would stay well clear of Swing for awhile. It (and GUI in general for that matter) is not the easiest way to learn OO ness. In fact, in my opinion, it's about the hardest. I don't know where you are with your learning and what you know and don't know though so this may be out of place. If not though I would recommend one to play around with interfaces and abstract classes for awhile. I think once one understands the point of an abstract class one is well on the way to a solid foundation of Java OOness.
3) This will contradict point 2 but for Swing you should learn about the MVC pattern. Here are a couple of links on the subject http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-view-controller and http://java.sun.com/blueprints/patterns/MVC.html
MVC is important because it explains the how-to and why of what one should do with OOness when it comes to GUI.
4) Don't be afraid to get it wrong. The best way to learn this stuff is by practice. Do it in a way you understand and that makes it work. Then go back and think how you could do it better. Think about how you could encapsulate your classes. Think about how you can seperate the logic of your application from the GUI.
