Cloning EBS 11i from RHEL4.6 to OEL5.6

Hi hussein,
I done this cloning yesterday successfully but now I got error again in my 2nd testing, and always different error.
I succeeded cloning in the dbTier.
But in the appsTier I got this error:

I am cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L on the same server.
Currently we have EBS 11i PROD on the server, @user oracle.
I want to clone it to EBS 11i TEST on the same server, @user oracle2.

1. run autoconfig
2. run preclone programs
3. copy appl and db file to new location for user oracle2.
4. run cloning at user oracle2.

Cloning EBS 11i Bug

Hi hussein,
I have been cloning our EBS 11i for many times before at it was good. Lately I applied set of patches. Then what happened is every time I clone, I have to edit the http.conf
The patches have affected the public access of the system, in a way that it seems “disabling” the public IP access. This was caused by the patch updating the “httpd.conf” file.
HTTPD.conf is a server configuration file which typically contains directives that affect how the server runs, such as user and group IDs it should use, and location of other files. Because the server configuration file is the main file that the server starts with, Oracle HTTP Server does not include any directive that says where to locate it. The location is passed on command line when the server starts.
This file is located at:
TRNG
/uo1/oracle/oatrngora/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
PROD
/u02/oracle/oaprodora/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
To resolve the public IP access problem, edit the httpd.conf file and find the following lines:

The above patches were test applied at the test sever OATRNG, and after checking that it solved the issues it was then carried out to the Production (PROD)

Cloning EBS 11i

Hi hussein,
I am cloning 11i and it prompts me these questions:
Provide the values required for creation of the new Database Context file.
1. Do you want to use a virtual hostname for the target node (y/n) [n] ?:
2. Target instance is a Real Application Cluster (RAC) instance (y/n) [n]:How can I make a virtual hostname? is it the one used by VMware?
(2nd Q) Does this mean I can clone from a single node to RAC?

No dear...what I mean is I have a single node (11i) now. I want to clone it to a RAC environment.
Im confused, I have read a doc that I can clone a RAC to a single node, but not single node to RAC? In this case, please see this thread.

Upgrade Linux Server for EBS 11i

EBS 11i
RHEL 4.6
Our EBS 11i is currently running on HP server with RHEL 4.6 OS and a single node only. This server was bought 6 years ago and lately it is showing performance degradation. We want to migrate/upgrade to a higher end latest model of HP and make it a multi-node. But the latest HP model only support a minimum RHEL 5 version.
My question is, is cloning EBS 11i from RHEL 4.6 to RHEL 5 supported? How do I migrate EBS 11i with this kind of scenario?

EBS 11i Workflow mailer is down after cloning.

After cloning EBS 11i to new server the Workflow Notification Mailer is down with status "Stopped with Error".
I tried to restart it several times but still not working.

Installing EBS 11i on CentOS 5.4

Dear Members :
Encountering: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.3: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory >> in step 4/5 and message showing "starting CVM on middle tier".
CentOS might not be the certified version, but since it is nothing but RHEL, I tried. Could you clear my confusions :
[1] If patch 6078836 solves the issue, how to download, as I don't have Oracle SID.
[2] Whether patches are not required if I install it on OEL5 and what should be the right Update version for that ?
[3] Is there any way I could still install on CentOS5.4, applying some rpms, to overcome libdb.so.3 issue ?
I downloaded EBS 11i from e-delivery choosing "on-demand/Linux X86" .

CentOS might not be the certified version, but since it is nothing but RHEL, I tried. Could you clear my confusions :Off course both Centos and redhat holds same source code, you can try your Installation on centos, but what i recommend is you can get certified OS platform free to download from oracle web http://edelivery.oracle.com then why to waste time on uncertified version of OS if Installation failed.

Yes, you can. You can clone from one operating system version to another if the target system platform is binary compatible with the source system platform. Cloning from a higher version of a platform to a lower version is not supported

Cloning/Migrating EBS 11i to Linux

Hi All,
We have a client implem with EBS 11i on AIX. We are still testing our implem and still we encounter lots of error.
Since we have limited access to the setup, I want to clone it in our office (on linux) so I can have a long time access and testing on it.
Can you give me notes on how to clone 11i from aix to linux?

I have to do 11i cloning please tell me step by step,I am very very thankful to you.11i cloning is same as we do in R12?.I heard in Fresh server patches must applied in EBS 11i...is this true?or if it's not fresh server then what's the step?

11i cloning is same as we do in R12?.Yes -- Run preclone, copy the file and run postclone.
I heard in Fresh server patches must applied in EBS 11i...is this true?or if it's not fresh server then what's the step?You just need to apply all OS pre-req. packages and software before running postclone on the target nodes (no application patches are required on this node).

What Database options /feature can uninstall from EBS 11i database

I have a 11gr2 ee database used for ebs 11i , I would like know can I uninstall those database feature which require licensing like OLAP and Partition? Will it impact to my EBS? Appreciated Is anyone can help on this.

Hi Srini Chavali, was there any document saying Partitioning and OLAP is the must for EBS? I had run a script "used_options_details.sql.sql" and "option_usage.sql". The output showing Partitioning was used by not for OLAP. All the tables using Partitioning were belong to EBS schema.
I am not very sure whether i am compliance to Oracle licensing or not. My company had bought the EBS license and Oracle Database EE license because we had some customization which require modification on the db schema. I have a vendor telling me that the EBS is not bundle with any DB option and we may need to paid the license free for those option which enable in the DB.
I know how to disable those option but I am worry it will impact my EBS application, it will be very helpful if anyone can point me to the document on what DB option is require on EBS.
