Cloning EBS using Oracle VM

Hi does anyone have any practical experience with cloning of release 12 using Oracle VM ?
I need to knock out some environments during the upgrade project - vmware technology is ideal for copying an environment - I dont want to have to clone the db and app server each time as this is time consuming and i AM THINKING THERE may be an easier way ...
Welcome advice from anyone who has cloned 11i or release 12 system using vmware/oracle vm technology.
In the past I have run pre clone on app server, copied app server and db and run adclone to configure the new server .. this is quite time consuming
Concurrent manager uses os hostname command to sort out name of server so this could be a problem which would not work with straight copy and edit to hosts file such that server x thinks it server y because server y is in /etc/hosts file ...
This copy and amend approach has worked Ok with soasuite for example I need advice with respect to Oracle Financials ...
many thanks in advance
Cheers, Rob

Hi;
I need to knock out some environments during the upgrade project - vmware technology is ideal for copying an environment - I dont want to have to clone the db and app server each time as this is time consuming and i AM THINKING THERE may be an easier way ...

This copy and amend approach has worked Ok with soasuite for example I need advice with respect to Oracle Financials ...If you use WMware and if you want to do some upgrade process and dont want to take backup or clone of EBS than you can try to use Snapshoot option. Before start process use menu (It should be under tool menu top of screen) and take snapshoot.Let us say call it Level0 which mean your system working and didnt apply any patch etc.. Each steps of upgrade you can give new name. If you have any issue during upgrade or other process you can turn to snapshoot which u took.
The other steps, you can copy/paste your Wm folder(If you have valid space on disk) and if you have any isue during upgrade you can use this backup but dont forget you need to start over what you do before on this backup(Be sure you have same entery on hosts file)
If you want to take clone, as Hussein Sawwan's mention you need to follow clone docs.

  • Not able to integrate SOA Suite with EBS using Oracle APPS Adapter

    Hi,
We need to listen to outbound business events of Oracle EBS using BES via Oracle APPS Adapter.
We have created a composite containing Oracle Application Adapter and BPEL Process.
In Apps adapter when configured Outbound Business events "oracle.apps.bom.component.modified" using Dequeue Operation,a corresponding subscriber is created in WF_BPEL_Q for respective event selected.
    In Oracle EBS
for "oracle.apps.bom.component.modified" status is enabled and in subscription WF_BPEL_QAGENT is there.
When we are changing any BOM component in Oracle EBS Designer and saving it, a record is being created in "WF_BPEL_QTAB".
BPEL Process( Oracle Apps Adapter Partner Link---> Recieve Actvity ) instances are not being created when any BOM component is being changed.
Oracle Apps Adapter is not able to dequeue the data from WF_BPEL_QTAB.
There is not any error/exception in oracle soa suite server logs for Oracle APPS adapter.

We would like to capture a few business events in oracle BOM and PO that are of interest to us. In order to do this,
we deploy oracle SOA composite with BEPL in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Control. The oracle SOA composite is configured for a particular outbound business event. It should listens on a specific queue WF_BPEL_Q or WF_BPEL_QTAB and de-queues the messages from that Oracle Queue or Oracle AQ Table. In jDeveloper 11g we created a SOA project with oracle applications adapter partner link and a receive.
Specifically we are trying to capture the business outbound event oracle.apps.bom.component.modified just to get the event data in this receive.
Partner link configuration: We added the database connection to the oracle EBS instance. Tested it and we
succeded. Chose ANY_SCHEMA in partner link configuration.
We ensured that the JNDI Name here( eis/Apps/Apps ) match the JNDI name provided in the weblogic-->Deployments--
OracleAppsAdapter -->Configuration --> Outbound Connection Pools. For this outbound resource pool, Connection factory interface was javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory. Property name xADataSourceName was mapped to JNDI name of the configured JDBC datasource in the weblogic. When we created the connection pool. We tested and it worked fine. This data source had the connection pool configured to the oracle applications schema with APPS user.
After adding the partner link with the above configuration, we added a receive. We deployed this configuration to the middleware. We went to the oracle EBS modified a BOM component and we expected to having running BPEL instances against the deloyed composite. However, the problem is we are not having any running instance for the composite.
We found that there are entries in the view AQ$WF_BPEL_QTAB with an ENQ_TIME and ENQ_TIMESTAMP but with no DEQ_TIME or DEQ_TIMESTAMP. The ENQ_TIMESTAMP corresponds to the time we modified BOM in oracle BOM forms/Designer
The data is being written in WF_BPEL_QTAB for the BOM changes but not being dequeued by oracle applications adapter/composites deployed in soa server.
Please help me it quite urgent.
Is there anything we are missing on EBS side to be activited. for the events to be dequeued
    Any Help is appreciated.
    Abhinav

    Hi Dear,
    EBS 11i / R12
    RHEL 4.6
Can I clone the EBS 11i or R12 using batch and response file? I mean opposite to inter-active mode.
I want to turn-over the cloning to our client. But i want to put it on a script where the operator just run
    single command like # ./clone_apps.exe
    Thanks a lot.
    Ms K

    Hi,
If i remember correctly, these notes talk about entering apps password when running adcfgclone.pl.
    Like.
First creating a $CONTEXT_FILE on the target for first time and using it in sub sequent clones.
    And also.
    perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier < <put apps passwords here>
    Example:
    perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier < sppa

    Hello,
I'm looking for ideas to securely transfer files bi-directional between Oracle EBS 12.1.3 to IIS using Oracle Managed File Transfer and SOA.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Hussain,

    I have installed R12.1.1
Datafiles on installed on local file system /u01/EBS_DATa/*dbf, *.ctl, *.log
doing non RAC to RAC conversion with ASM option,
I am using ASM with RAC and created ASM disks (DATA, FRA, CRS) on Shared SAN disks between node1 and node2 which are DATA for CRD (control, redo and Data) files, FRA for archive files, CRS for cluster files while doing RAC instalation,
now how i move my CRD on local file system /u01/EBS_DATa/*dbf, *.ctl, *.log to shared ASM disk DATA ???????
    Please describe with step wise,
    Thanks in advance.

  • Capturing error messages from Oracle EBS APIs when using Oracle Apps Adapter

We are using Oracle applications adapter to call Oracle EBS (both R11.5 and R12) APIs. I want to understand the best practice around error handling when using Oracle Apps Adapter to call Oracle EBS.
    Here are some observations:
    1. Most of the APIs return X_RETURN_STATUS and X_MSG_DATA containing the status and messages if any.
    2. If the MSG COUNT is 1 then X_MSG_DATA contains the message, if MSG COUNT is > 1. X_MSG_DATA is empty.
We know that when calling the API directly from PL/SQL, we need to loop through FND_MSG_PUB to fetch all messages when there are more than 1. How do we achieve the same using Apps Adapter as Apps Adapter generates the PL/SQL block to call the API dynamically at runtime.
In some APIs, which have table/rec types as input or output parameters, Apps Adapter generates a wrapper package to do conversion from SQL--> PL/SQL and viceversa. In this case the adapter calls the custom package generated which internally calls the API. For these APIs we were able to put the logic to loop through FND_MSG_PUB and return a concatenated string as value of X_MSG_DATA.
But what should we do for the APIs which do NOT have a rec/table type as input or output, in which case the Apps Adapter directly calls the API and there is no intermediate custom package?
    How are others handling this?

  • Oracle EBS Inbound/Outbound Interface build using Oracle SOA 11g

    Hi SOA Guru's,
I am very much new to SOA 11g, could you guy's help me in understanding "How I can build any Oracle EBS Inbound/Outbound interface using Oracle SOA 11g"
It will be great if anybody explain me with any example script/screen shot/document.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Pankaj

I don't have any experience with ebs, but i assume it works like this.
In the composite editor you will find a list adapters at the right..over here you will also find the oracle applications (ebs) adapter.
This will be the component for you which will communicate with the ebs packages.
you need to drag this adapter on the swim lane, and after that you should create the composite application like the way it's described in the tutorials Oracle supplies, put a mediator component in the middle and expose this interface (drag the line to the left swim line)
Hope it's a bit clear like this ?

this should make a few things clear too

  • Cloning and Synchronizing Oracle BI Requests and Dashboards Using CAF

    Hi,
Cloning and Synchronizing Oracle BI Requests and Dashboards Using Content Accelerator Framework (CAF)
what is this and in what scenario we use it? Is it useful for webcatalog/rpd migration from one env to other?
    Thanks
    Jay.

    Hi Jay,
CAF is a utility that is used in migration of logical part of RPD and catalog objects from source to target environments. There are bunch of OBIEE bloggers already blogged about this a while ago. Check this article out, it should provide the information you are looking for: ( http://debaatobiee.wordpress.com/2009/11/26/playing-with-cafobiee-content-accelerator-framework/ ).
FYI - If you are working in 11g environment, this tool (CAF) as far as I know is not supported. This tool was introduced by oracle few months before 11g came out which everyone thought would be big on revolutionizing the way migrations are done in OBIEE between environments.

    Dear All,
I'm going to create development environment for EBS 11i using database 11g. As i know, the rapidwiz install pack using Oracle 9i as the default database.
Could I install EBS 11i using database 11g? Is there any documentation for this kind of installation? Or Do i have to Install EBS 11i using the default database then migrate it to Oracle database 11g?
    Many Thanks

I'm going to create development environment for EBS 11i using database 11g. As i know, the rapidwiz install pack using Oracle 9i as the default database. Correct.
Could I install EBS 11i using database 11g?No, you will need to install 9i which comes with 11i Rapid Install then upgrade the database to 11gR2
Is there any documentation for this kind of installation? If you mean install 11i using 11g then no such doc exists.
Or Do i have to Install EBS 11i using the default database then migrate it to Oracle database 11g?Correct.

I'm trying to integrating with Oracle EBS using XMLGateway, and I meet some issues. Here are the steps I did.
    1) Update DATA_MAP.xgm file and DATA_TEST.dtd file into XMLGateway repository
    2) Define transactions in EBS client:
    Party Type: Supplier
    Transaction Type: Cat
    Transaction Subtype: Dog
Transaction Description: test for cat and dog
    Standard Code: OAG
    External Transaction Direction: IN
    External Transaction Type: Cat
    External Transaction Subtype: Dog
    Queue: APPLSYS.ECX_IN_OAG_Q
    3) Define trading partners in EBS client
    Operating Unit: Vision Operations
    Trading Partener Type: Supplier
    Trading Partener name: ****
    Trading Partener site: ****
    Company Admin email: [email protected]
... other transaction info defined in step 2)
    4) Send inbound message using OTA send Inbound Page. It succeed.
    a. The return page display status code 1000 with status discription OK.
    b. From the transaction monitor, I can see the inbound message was processed successfully.
    c. From the database, I can see that this inbound message first arrived in ecx_inqueue table, and then moved to ecx_in_oag_q_table. And last disappeared from the ecx_in_oag_q_table. That means XMLGateway process the inbound message in transaction queue successfully.
    5) Send inbound message using SOAPUi. It failed.
    a. The return page display status code 200. That means the inbound message has been sent to inbound message queue successfully.
    b. From transaction monitor, I cannot see this request record.
    c. From the database, I can saw that this inbound message first arrived in wf_ws_jms_in table, then disappeared. It didn't moved to transaction queue which I selected when defined transations, so I guess it wasn't processed by XMLGateway. Using the following SQL, but cannot find error reason.
    select * from ecx_inbound_logs where process_id='******************'
    select * from apps.ecx_error_msgs where error_id='*****'
I guess the reason is something happend to prevent inbound message to move from inbound message queue to transaction queue. So XMLGateway cannot process this inbound message.
From XMLGateway user guide, I understand that there are three kinds of inbound queues(ECX_INBOUND which OTA uses, WF_WS_JMS_IN which soap over https uses, WF_JMS_IN which JMS uses), does't mention what are the corresponding transaction queues? Can they share the same transaction queue? Also see from this user guide, ecx_in_oag_q (transaction queue) is only for ecx_inbound queue. But when I try to define a transaction in EBS client, it seems that only ecx_in_oag_q can be chosen. I wondered why my second senarios failed when I used the same transation and trading partner. The message already arrived at wf_ws_jms_in and then disappeared. Is that because I selected the wrong transaction queue when defining transactions? But it was really cannot select any other transaction queues there. Or I missed some steps when using SOAP over HTTP/S?
Appreciate you can give me some suggestions. Hope to hear your voice. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Regarding the integration what type of integration you want.
Can you please elaborate? There are some integration tools releases by Oracle for the integration.
    Regards
    Pramod

  • Cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L

    Hi Friends,
I am cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L on the same server.
Currently we have EBS 11i PROD on the server, @user oracle.
I want to clone it to EBS 11i TEST on the same server, @user oracle2.
    Things I did:
    1. run autoconfig
    2. run preclone programs
    3. copy appl and db file to new location for user oracle2.
    4. run cloning at user oracle2.
But I got the following error:

  • Error while integrating OBIEE report with EBS using Rich Content Container

I am trying to integrate OBIEE report with EBS using Rich Content Container OAF functionality. I have followed the steps mentioned in oracle Note - Embedding Analytics in Oracle E-Business Suite [ID 974422.1]. When i run my page, the container region comes up with the error message - The requested URL /pls/ghrfpkd2/OracleSSWA.Execute was not found on this server. Can someone please help me with some documents on the steps to integrate OBIEE with EBS using Rich Content Container.
