Cloning HD from one model to a different model

Okay, so I just got myself this new G5 powermac and will probably be getting rid of my G4 Powerbook. I've heard mixed things about this, and I want to make sure I get this right -- are there any potential complications involved with cloning the harddrive from one model mac to a different model mac?
most research i've done indicates no, but at the same time, i've seen from experience that an OSX disc that comes with a powerbook will not necessarily work on an iBook (the iBook definitely being compatible with that version of OSX) ... if the OSX discs packaged with the computer are model specific, how can cloning from one model to another not be problematic?
Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The install disks are locked out by a hardware check file, the actual OS is the same regardless.
As all parts of X are installed and only the relevant parts loaded a cross-clone should be fine.

  • Want to transfer data via idocs from one  R/3 to different R/3

    Hi!!
May i hav nay step by step pdf which gives the complete flow of how to transfer idocs from from one  R/3 to different R/3.
Though i have the basics steps but some where I m stuck.
    Also I have two doubts::
1.Is thr Any relation bw port name and Logical System name? Can they be same.??I  hav kept Logical System name as SAPE60 AND PORT name also as SAPE60(in e60) and  SAPEI6(in ei6) servers respectively.
2.Should the Logical System names be maintained same in both the servers??
    Kindly respond .
Helpful answers will be rewarded points!!!

  • [Help] Export or copy a virtual copy from one library to a different library?

    Hi all,
I need to be able to extract or export a virtual copy (VC) from one library to an other library. The same image that the VC depend on is represented in both libraries but since a friend will be editing some images on his computer and therefor his library I need to be able to import the different VC he makes to my library later on or perhaps merge since he needs the VC I make.
So please, can someone tell me how to do this. If we only make some editing of a RAW we just save the metadata and we are done, but with VC it is different.
    Thanks in advance!

Use File > Export as Catalog in the current catalogue, and use File > Import from Catalog
Ask yourself if it's really a smart idea to (a) work with multiple catalogues, and (b) catalogue the same picture in more than one catalogue. As you've found, working with multiple catalogues introduces inefficiencies like trying to copy VCs around, while cataloguing the same image in more than one catalogue is a recipe for confusion.Maybe you should be asking how to resolve the underlying workflow problem?

  • Copying page from one app to another: Different themes

All the threads on this forum for steps to copy a page from one app to another refer to Raj's instructions at Synonyms
What if the 2 apps involved have different themes? When I do the final step (f) in his procedure, that page will have Theme X and the rest of the pages will have Theme Y. How is this handled?
Will the new page just use the templates it needs from whatever theme the app it is imported into happens to be using? Or would it bring along the templates it uses from the old application?
    Thanks

Raj's technique predates themes and has no connection with themes. A page has one numeric attribute that references a page template or is null.
Raj's technique never handled the case where the referenced page template didn't exist in the target application.
It's your job (see the caveat in that threat) to ensure that you don't reference non-existent shared components from the page being copied.
What if you do anyway? That isn't part of the solution that was presented but the answer is you have to repair the damage.
What you are saying, in effect, is that that technique for copying pages across apps really works best only if the 2 apps involved have the same theme, right? There are at least four cases: 1) the page template attribute is null so it will use the app's default page template which I believe is adjusted when you switch themes; 2) the page template attribute is not null and locates an existing page template which is a template in the current theme. In this case everything should work correctly; 3) the page template attribute is not null and locates an existing page template which is not a template in the current theme. In this case the referenced page template will be used at runtime, but the theme reports and/or switch theme functionality may not work as expected with respect to that page; 4) the page template attribute does not locate an existing template. I don't know what the result is in this case.
I also don't know if the template a page uses is considered to be part of a given theme based on the template's name or numeric ID.

  • Data from one table shown on different table

Back again...I am working on a budget sheet.  I thought I had a good plan for a way to deal with my different budget categories.  I have, on one sheet, several small tables that keep a running account of my money in various budget line items (mortgage, utilties, grocery, etc...).
My plan was to take the running total of one table and insert it into a master list of all budget categories.  I thought I could do this easily with a simple command of making one cell just equal another cell.  But then two problems surfaced.
First, and by far I think the biggest problem, is that I don't know how to tell one cell on one table to grab data from another cell on a different table.
    Is there a way?
Second, since the smaller individual tables are running....even though I have a footer that serves as the base, continuing total...every time I add a row to that table, the bottom row will grow by 1.  So, I am not sure (in fact I doubt it can be done), is there a way to tell the summary table to always know where the running, final total is on any given table?
I suppose, finally, if there is some other easier way to do this, I would appreciate the collective wisdom of the group.
Oh, I am working in old Numbers '08.  Should have said that first.  Thanks in advance.

To make a refernce to a cell in a different table is the same as making one from the same table. When it is time to make a cell reference, click on the cell in the other table.  If it is on a different sheet, first click on the other table in the sidebar (I assume '08 has a sidebar on the left), then click on the cell. Or you can type it in as sheetname::tablename::celladdr.
If the cell you want to reference is in a footer, a formula like =Sheet 1::Table 1::B2 will do the trick.  When you add a new row to the table, the reference will adjust so it keeps pointing at the cell in the footer.

  • How do you move a clip from one event to a different event

Can't find anyway to do this. Seems pretty likely I'm overlooking the obvious.

Not sure what you mean. If you mean move clips from one event to another, you can just drag them in the Libraries pane. Or go to the File menu and use the Move Clip command.
If you mean from one project timeline to another, use copy and paste. Or just edit the edited source clip from the event in the browser to the other timeline.

  • Transfer music from one iphone to a different iphone

I have music that I purchased way back in 2010. Now I want to transfer to my wife's iphone. How do I go about this?  Thanks for the advice......

You can't transfer music (nor any other content) from one account to another account, it will remain tied to the account that downloaded it. Also home sharing only works from a computer to a device (or to another computer), it doesn't work between iOS devices.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be redownloaded in all countries) then he could potentially log into your account on his iPod (I assume that it's an iPod Touch) and redownload his music on it, but that might tie his iPod to your account for 90 days : iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID.

Press on an app until they all 'wiggle', tap and hold to move them, press the home key when done. Have you transferred all of your information from the prior computer to the new computer? You should be able to sync with the new computer if you transferred iTunes as instructed in the support information. Then you will be able to move the apps when you connect your phone to the computer.

  • Unsyncing phone from one comp using a different comp

My macbook was recently stolen and i had my iphone synced to it. I do not wish to sync my phone to another computer, but is there a way to get it unsynced from the stolen macbook without deleting all 3000 of my songs???

    No there isn't.
The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone, and an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only. When syncing iTunes content with an iTunes library on another computer, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased first. The same applies to photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process.
I assume you don't maintain a backup for your computer that was stolen or if you do, your backup doesn't include your iTunes library?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes store only. You need to authorize the computer that you plan on syncing your iPhone with your iTunes account with iTunes first. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If most or a good portion of your iTunes library on your stolen MacBook was imported into your iTunes library from another source - such as from music CDs, there are some 3rd party utilities that provide for this and the same for transferring photos from your iPhone that were transferred to your iPhone from a computer. Such utilities are not supported by Apple and in regards to these photos, the original resolution of the photos will be lost in the process. Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process are optimized for viewing on your iPhone as part of the sync process, so the original resolution of these photos is changed/reduced.
In regards to contact info and calendar events, an iPhone can be synced with the supported applications on multiple computers. If you will be syncing contact info and calendar events with the Address Book and iCal on another Mac and both don't include any data, before syncing this data enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on the Mac. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing this data the first time, which you want to select. This will transfer all contact info and calendar events on your iPhone to the Address Book and iCal on the new or different Mac. After the initial merge, contact info and calendar events will be kept synchronized with following syncs.

  • How can we assign Items from One Organization to a different Organization.

    Team,
    1. We have a requirement to load all the items from Organization A to Organization B. Both are in different Operating Unit.
Is there any API available to do this?
    Thanks
    -Karthik

As long as you have the same master org in the 2 operating units, all you have to do is
    INSERT INTO mtl_system_items_interface
                (organization_code, segment1, transaction_type, set_process_id, process_flag)
       (SELECT '&new_Org', msi.segment1, 'CREATE', 100, 1
          FROM mtl_system_items_b msi
WHERE organization_id = &old)And run the Import Items request.
    Hope this helps,
    Sandeep Gandhi
