  • 32bit Oracle ODBC Driver on 64bit RHEL 5.9 system

I am using unixODBC as my driver manager and 32 bit Oracle Client/Driver on Linux RHEL 5.9 64bit OS.  I cannot seem to get a successful test with isql with 32bit ODBC Driver, i get success with 64bit ODBC Driver.

It is possible to get 32bit drivers to work on 64bit OS as long as the application you're using is 32bit.
Did you make sure that your unxiODBC driver manager is 32bit, that you have specified the 32bit libraries (also the 32bit Oracle client) in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH and that you're also using the 32bit isql?
What's the error message you're getting?

  • Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

    Is 10gR2 32bit client certified with RHEL 5 (64bit)?

    It says
"Running 32-bit Linux x86 Oracle Database server on Linux x86-64 AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported "
I could be wrong but I think that means on "AMD64/EM64T" only its not supported.

OK, you are right, only 11gR2 Client is good.

  • It only uses 32bit, and my computer needs 64bit.   Please help.

I am a non profit.  I ordered Photo shop Elements12 for PC  for my office.  It is a download only.  It doesn't dowload on my computer.  It only uses 32bit, and my computer needs 64bit.   Please help. The Adobe photoshop elements 12 is useless to me.  I can't seem to get anyone at Techsoup to help and trying to get Adobe to help is runaround.  What should I do to get it to run on my computer.  Please someone in the forum let me know how switch out the download for the correct one.

64-bit windows can run 32-bit applications just fine and always has.  They are just limited to a small amount of memory.   If something isn’t working it’s likely another problem like an incomplete download or trying to install the Mac version on a PC or something like that.
You can try downloading and installing from the PSE12 link, here, to see if it works any better:
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html
If you can’t get things to work, then please post a screenshot of the error and a description of what you’re trying to do that lead to the error.
Also the term “downloading” refers to transferring a file from a remote server, across the internet, to your local computer.   The term “install” means running the program that was downloaded on your local computer to put the working program on your computer that you can run.
It would be helpful to know if your saying that the actual transfer across the internet part isn’t working, or if that part seemed to work, but when you run that installer program you’re seeing an error.

  • When i try to download the new version of iTunes, I get an error message saying the download was for 32bit and I need the 64bit. How do i download 64bit?!?!

When i try to download the new version of iTunes, I get an error message saying the download was for 32bit and I need the 64bit. How do i download 64bit?!?!

Which I get. But clicking on that link you provided does not give you the option of choosing between 32 and 64 bit installers.
Yeah, that was certainly a 32-bit installer file being referred to in the other message, too. (The 64-bit installer file is called iTunes64Setup.exe.)
Just in case it's an issue with your normal browser not working properly with the system-detection equipment on the page (there's a javascript control that checks for operating system specifics, and is supposed to deliver the correct Mac or Windows installers), let's try a different web browser for the download. If you use Firefox instead of IE (or vice versa), do you get offered an iTunes64Setup.exe instead of an iTunesSetup.exe?

  • Installing Enterprise manager grid control 10.2.0.3 on RHEL 5 64Bit

I'm not able to install OEM Grid control 10.2.0.3 on RHEL5 64BIT and cannot find a document for the installation.
Could anyone give me here all the steps for this installation : all the package requirements or a link to achieve successfully the installation.
    Thanks in advance

Be careful, if you have an older environment or a large variety of database versions in your install base the 11g version of OEM may not support them.
Follow these instructions (from My Oracle Support) to install the 10.2.0.3 base and patch up to 10.2.0.5 on RedHat 5:
If the link doesn't work, it's article 784963.1. Do not follow the installation guide or release notes from technet - they are incorrect and will only work for RHEL 4 and lower.

  • RHEL 4 64bit OAS 10.1.2.2.0 and PHP5

I am trying to support php5 with OAS 10.1.2.2.0 and am having a problem compiling php. Doing a normal compile of php results in a 64bit executable which does not work with Oracle apache as it is a 32 bit executable. I have tried compiling php using 'setarch i686' and having LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointing to only 32 bit library paths, but it will not compile at all under these conditions.
I get the following error when trying to compile as a 32 bit executable
relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
I have tried passing the -fPIC flag to gcc, but to no avail.

This is on a RedHat Linux 4 platform, so no yum. I have followed the steps on the oracle site, but this results in a 64bit php binary. The Apache binary that ships with OAS is 32 bit, so it won't load a 64bit php binary. The configure line is:
    ./configure with-apxs=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs prefix=$ORACLE_HOME --with-config-file-path=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf
The steps I follow are as follows:
    1. linux32 bash
    2. export PERL5LIB=$ORACLE_HOME/perl/lib
    3. export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib/:/usr/lib/
    4. setarch i686 (to force gcc to think it is on a 32bit system and compile a 32bit php binary)
    5. ./configure with-apxs=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs prefix=$ORACLE_HOME --with-config-file-path=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf
I don't need the oci8 support as I don't need oracle db support. My requirement is simply to run php5 under OAS 10.1.2.2.0 I also cannot upgrade to OAS 10.1.3, as there are other OC4J's running that require 10.1.2.

  • Connecting to HP LaserJet 5100 printer on Win7, 32bit PC from a Win7, 64bit PC

I'm having a heck a time trying to add a printer that is on another machine. The printer is an HP LaserJet5100 and is connected to a Win7, 32bit pc using a pcl6 driver. The PC I want to add this other printer to is a Win7, 64bit. I went to HP Drivers and downloaded a HP LaserJet 5100 pcl6 driver for Win7, 64bit, and ran it, using traditional mode, on the PC that I'm trying to install a printer to. I chose "Add a network Printer..." and then pick the printer that I want to connect to.   I get a Windows Printer Installation pop up that says "Checking for Windows Update. This might take a while..." and then get another popup that says "No driver found". I then get another pop up to locate the driver. Browsing to the driver files that I just download, I find eleven files of the .inf file type, but none of them are the right file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to install 32bit Premiere Element 10 on 64bit Windows7?

Premiere Elements 10 comes with 32bit and 64bit programs.  The 2 versions each use different codecs.  My camera manufacturer only supplies 32bit codecs, so the 64bit Premiere Elements 10 program cannot work with my camera's video files.  The 32bit program works with the 32bit codecs that came with my camera, but the 32bit Adobe Premiere Elements 10 installer will not permit installation on a 64bit Windows7 (the error message directs the 64bit Premiere Elements 10 program be installed instead).
Have repeatedly contacted Adobe.  They alternately tell me to install the 32 bit program, but haven't offered any instructions as to how to get the installer to run on a 64bit Windows7 OS.  64bit Windows7 should run any 32bit or 64bit app, so I'm hoping someone can provide insight (or hopefully instructions) on how to perform 32bit install.
Note, already have tried Windows compatibility mode for forcing installation.  This gets past the installer restriction for 64bit OS, but installer still fails.

    Bill,
Appreciate your comments.  32bit codecs from manufacturer install on 64bit Windows7 and support any 32bit app.  That includes 32bit windows media player and camera's manufacturer specific video edit program.  But I differ that 64bit apps can use 32bit codecs.  32bit Adobe Premiere Elements 10 works with manufacturer's 32bit codecs when installed to a 32bit Windows (which unfortunately is not my current workstation which is 64bit Windows7).
One of my camera's is Creative Vado HD, and it is my impression that Creative does not feel compelled to supply 64bit codecs since they supply their own video editor 32bit app.  Of course, I cannot combine clips from multiple cameras on a manufacturer specific one-camera edit app.
Adobe Premiere Elements 10 explicitly names the Creative Vado HD as a supported camera on Adobe's website ... but apparently not the 64bit version of Premiere Elements 10.  Have tried 3rd party 64bit codecs for H.264/MS-ADPCM which are at best partially functional with the 64bit Adobe Premiere Elements 10 app (they are generic and not camera specific).
The other camera is a Canon Vixia HG20 and is fully functional with either 32bit or 64bit Adobe Premiere Elements 10.
2 yrs ago I actually tested to insure Adobe Premiere Elements supported both cameras, but that was when I ran a 32bit workstation and Adobe Premiere Elements was only supplied as a 32bit app (ver9 trial I think).  I should have re-verified with Premiere Elements 10 before making the purchase commitment.  I hadn't anticipated that PE10 had gone 64bit and wouldn't support legacy 32bit install.
    John,
Yes, I've verified Adobe Premiere Elements 10 32bit version works with both cameras.  I installed to my old workstation (32bit OS).  Installing under virtual XP is an option on my current 64bit windows7 workstation, and that is something I do for really old apps (like 16bit apps).  Shouldn't be necessary to run a 32bit app in a virtual environment on a 64bit windows7 that runs both 64bit and 32bit apps (half of the windows7 bundled apps are still 32bit).  Still looking for the 32bit installation solution before resorting to that.

  • Camera raw update problem loaded on cs6 32bit but not the default 64bit.

    Hi to all.
Can you help?  I recently updated to 8.8 camera raw after buying a new camera and there was a problem with the installation.  It told me that there was a problem writing to cs6.  I clicked ignore an the installation completed.  The problem is that it has updated to the 32bit version but still shows 7.1 on the 64bit (default).  I am running on windows 7 64 bit.  Any hel[p with a solution would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Update
I did a bit more research on the forum and found a discussion referring to pse which gave instruction to open the archive on the camera raw exe. file and manually copy the 8bi files into the correct location in the C drive eg:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats    and
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
Wait for it this didn't work and completely removed camera raw from the about plugin menu on ps6 64 bit.  It worked on cs6 32 bit.
The solution was to then reinstall the plugin via the installation .exe file and all was back as it should be.   The only problen now is that adobe bridge has the camera raw preferences greyed out.....I am working on a fix for this and will post if I find it.  I hope this helps someone.

    Hi Michelle
I am new to the forum so I apologise.  I should have mentioned in my update that the installer that fixed the problem was the ACR 9.0.  I had originally used the 8.8 installer which caused the problem from ACR 7.1.
Initially the installer didn't work  64 bit version still had 7.1 but it installed ACR 9.0 on the 32 bit.  I then proceeded to manually unzip the exe file ACR 9.0 and coped the 8bi file to the locations stated in my update.  This didn't affect the 32 bit cs6 but completely removed ACR from the 64 bit.  I re ran the ACR 9.0.exe file and everything was fixed.
I hope that this makes sense.  I have now developed a problem on Bridge though.  I can open raw file in photoshop but I can't view previews and the camera raw preferences are greyed out.  I have read elsewhere that other people have had the same problem.

  • 10.1.0.5 32bit - 10.2.0.4 64bit x86 upgrade on Windows

Can anyone think of a way of getting from 10.1.0.5 32bit to 10.2.0.4 64bit x86 without an intermediate step through 10.2.0.4 32bit?
My problem is hardware capacity and downtime ... I don't want to disturb my existing production 32bit environment for obvious reasons.
My target machine has 64 bit OS (Win2003) so I can't run 32bit 10.2.0.4 on that. The only 64bit 10.1.0.5 I can find is for Itanium only so I can't run that either.
If there were a 64bit x86 version of 10.1.0.5 I would move database to 64bit machine, upgrade to 64bit at 10.1.0.5 and then upgrade in place to 10.2.0.4. However I think I am stuck with introducing an additional 32 bit machine just to get from 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.4 in the 32bit world, and then move again to my target 64bit environment.
Is it really true that there is no 64bit 10.1.0.5 for x86 Windows? Any bright ideas for avoiding having to move the whole database twice?
    Regards, Dave

There is one metalink note 403522.1 which talks about migrating from 32 bit to 64 bit on 10g but it is meant for 10gR2. So I am not very sure if this is applicable from 10gR1 as well.
If you have your 64 bit server ready, you could install 10.2.0.4 64 bit on that and try the steps from this note.

  • Upgrading SolMan 3.1 (32bit) to SolMan 4.0 (64bit)

    Hello all,
We currently run SolMan v3.1 on aged 32bit hardware and we plan to upgrade this to SolMan v4 on a new 64bit infrastructure. As part of this task, we would also like to move from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 x64 and from Oracle 9.2 to Oracle 10.2
The current situation is that the new server is built to Windows 2003 x64 level only. Nothing else is installed on the new server at this time. My plan was to install Oracle 9.2 and SolMan 3.1 and then take a system copy of the existing database and then upgrade it to SolMan v4 and Oracle 10.2 (leaving the old system as-is for recovery reasons, should we run into problems).
Has anyone any experience of doing this in a Windows and Oracle environment who could help me with getting this right?
    Many thanks,
    Arwel Owen.

  • Acrobat Pro installed on a Windows 2003 32bit server - where's the 64bit driver?

    Hello.
I'm still newbie with Acrobat Pro so please bear with me if this is a silly question.
A prospect of ours installed the TRIAL version of Acrobat Pro Extended on a 32bit Windows 2003 server and everything went fine; this server "serves" a number of Windows 7 64bit boxes which are supposed to share the PDF Printer created on the Win2003 server during the installation.
Problem is that when the printer gets shared and clients try to install it, the 64bit driver could not be found.
The customer tried to install the 64bit driver on the Win2003 box but he does not know where to find the correct .INF file for 64bit windows client.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Two facts for consideration. As I understand it the trail only comes in 64-bit. Don't know for sure since I have never downloaded it, but that is a faint memory.
More importantly, read the EULA carefully before you purchase for the type of application you listed. The general EULA does not allow the use of Acrobat on a server in the manner you have indicated. You have to purchase Acrobat for each machine, not a  server. You may have enough that need to use the product that a volume license is in order -- contact Adobe for that. In the meantime, use the Acrobat Trail to test the features and such to be sure it meets your needs (other than the server use).
